I haven't written a serious post in a while....they tend to get long and boring and, in short, a wasted effort.
But something has happened that will, for sure, change some public dialogue. This dialogue may be emphasized by the media and then it may be subdued.....either way it will be of interest to those concerned with the way the Gospel is presented publicly.
Michael Gerson's column this week spoke of Obama appointing Francis Collins to a major scientific post. Well, appointments are common for new presidents but this one has a kicker. Mr. Collins is a believer in God. In today's world with Obamas aura of uncertainty coupled with the evolutionary believing bent of society this could get us into some open discussions that could be surprizing.
Let me take a moment to point up some opinions of mine with a broad tipped pen.
1) I really doubt if the scientific community is even close to being as Anti-God as it is portrayed. I think much of this comes from the ones that are, in all fields, portraying it that way. They have much to gain by doing so.
2) I think many everyday people are not as Anti-God as they are portrayed. It is certainly a fact that some people do follow the crowd and if the 'crowd' is portrayed that way, then many will follow.
3) And the term "science" and all of it's derivatives are also portrayed inaccurately.
I have said many times, rather ineptly, that God is the ultimate scientist and mathemetician. This world is built on those things. True science and true math are Seekers of the Truth and since God is Truth, then they will ultimately find each other. This is a fact that you can take to the bank.
Since we, as human scientists and mathemeticians, are always seeing God's creation through tainted lenses we will never have it fully understood perfectly. So, we are constantly theorizing and testing and searching and revising our knowledge base. We should never confuse our 'theories' with our facts.
But then, where areas of faith are concerned, we should behave similarly.....in Not confusing our "ideas" with our faith facts, if such an animal exists. One side note to the above has to do with the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church, due to it's major prominence, is viewed by many in the media and used by the media as an example of the "church". Often, in documentary type programs they are mentioned as being wrong where 'science' has thus 'proved' them wrong. Several things can be said about this. a) they should not be used as an example of the church as a whole. b) they should not be singled out in this way....other religions have made their religious changes and those seldom get reported. c) they should not have been wrong but that is history. When 'science' is wrong, such as medicines that fail or even kill people, the field of science doesn't get slammed in the same way.
True science is a system of operations where new discoveries are made and tested and analyzed and then those discoveries are translated to useful and sometimes not so useful endeavors such as 'blogging"....sorry, but I can only stay serious for just so long.
If I were to say that "The Sun Shall Rise Again" would you view that as a fact or theory...?
Let's take a look from another direction for a moment. God has, in the past, blinded individuals and generations. Why...??? I don't know. However, that is an idea for someone to do a post on. But both Judas and Saul were blinded and blinded for two entirely different reasons.
This should be of interest to us Today.......because....there is more communication today than ever. More knowledge is more easily available than ever. Only some of that "knowledge" is true. We can easily see how the media developers and presenters are no longer in the business of separating the two.
If the Collins appointment increases the Gospel dialogue as it relates to science, then you and I will hear a tremendous amount of dubious dialogue mixed with Truth. It will be an opportunity to express your own views in many places. Get ready.

I've had this idea forming for a while and ...man,....I just sat on it too long.

There is really a book out there by that title that you can buy.
Man, I was thinking 4 figures, vacations to the next county, new tires for my truck, eating out at McDonalds every night instead of just weekends.

okay....so here is a present for having to endure that previous post....
it's summertime and a lot of people seem to like iced tea. I have told a few local people of this and even a few restaurants and they all say..." oh really" like they don't believe me. anyway a few days later they are " hey, that stuff is good". one restaurant actually put it on the menu...tada
so what you do is ...instead of throwing away all that juice that comes with pineapples, pears and peaches...put it in tea...about 1/3 juice and 2/3 tea....pineapple is the best.
you won't guzzle near as much tea

So, I've been poking some fun at the fake and multiple profiles....
A few moments ago a post fizzled and I checked my pages and they were all ....100% gone...as though I had just now become a member.
So, me being the detective that I am, I did a search for sonDance. Well, I didn't come up, but Sondance did....a 48 year old from Ohio. That isn't me. He may be a perfectly fine person...I don't know. He may be any number of things real or not. Who knows...

When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don`t be afraid of the dark
Late one afternoon a...young indian man....decided....that it was time ....time to return to his home. He was far away and he had been gone many...many days. He was no stranger to the hunt or even the long hunt, but winter was near and it was time. So...he began to gather his trail ponies and to load them with the furs and dried meats and weapons and traps. His toiling soon turned to anticipation but then apprehension. So ...he...stripped two of the ponies and slapped them, setting them free to fend for themselves
At the end of the storm Is a golden sky And the sweet, silver song of a lark.
And deep into the night he rode under a dim and rising moon. For two more days he rode.....replaying in reverse the landmarks that he had burned into his memory of the new hunting grounds that he had found. Here....many deer and elk and even the small animals watched him ride openly....seemingly knowing that he was no longer their adversary.
On the third day he came into more familiar grounds as he was now nearing his home. He made his way through the narrow strip of land between the base of some foothills and a stream that would go beside his winter camp. Alone he rode. As he began ascending a gorge he caught some wiffs of smoke through the pines. Upon emerging at the top and exiting the thick tree covered hills he saw more smoke coming from the direction of his home camp where his young bride and their son and their toddling daughter were to be waiting.
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
This smoke had the unmistakeable stench of flesh and hides smoldering. He cut his trail ponies loose and began galloping at full speed approaching the camp in a circular path scanning the rolling grass covered hills for his family. While sliding off of his still moving pony he called out in all directions for them...each by name several times. Now he walked amongst smashed food and water pots. In angst he stepped across slaughtered livestock and pets...seeing no one.
He weaved among the charred and still flickering lodge poles with tearing eyes as he surveyed every square foot of his home camp...at a loss as to the fate of his family.
Finally and with much dread in his heart he grabbed the largest of hides and flung it away still smoldering. There....staring back at him....were the blank stares.... as only death can do.... of his young wife and two children ...
He slumped to his knees...gasping...silently...unable to scream or cry out. His entire being was in a vice of heartbreak. He slammed his face and hands into the ground repeatedly and repeatedly flung himself backwards staring directly into the sun. Over and over until he collapsed in anquish and heartache and misery and confusion.
In the wee hours of the morning he became aware of the cold....and of the night birds and whipporwills speaking. In rising to his knees his rememberance again drove him into despair and anquish in dizzying flashes alternating with almost total nothingness. But the eastern sky began to glow in oranges and reds and yellows and he knew... he knew what he must now do.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, You'll never walk alone.
Slowlly he made his way to their garden spot and gathered a few tools. And feebly and weakly he began to dig.....three adjacent shallow graves. He placed each down gently with any of their possessions that he could find and with strength that he no longer had he covered them with tear blinded eyes.
Again he slumped to his knees and began searching his mind and spirit for all that they were worth. He tried to remember all that his father and uncle and elders had told him of the Great Spirit. With only groans he could not bring anything to the surface but only could know deep within him that there was a Great Spirit....and he wondered..... and then he knew he knew what he must now do.
Walk on through the wind, Walk on through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
He gathered the rest of his trail ponies and stripped them of their loads and reins... setting them free as well. For each of three days he rode deep into the night fully determined as to his destination. On the last day he climbed to the highest point of the land on foot overlooking a magnificent waterfall. and As the sun began to set.... it's rays richoched thru the mist casting a rainbow against the purple sky and the land and the wilderness and the Great Spirit listened

Now Is The Time For Healing The Scars Upon The Land

A friend of mine wrote that line in one of his songs...
One might say that it should have been said or practiced a long time ago and I am sure someone did say that in some other time and place and words.
But you know, we have only memories of the past...and we only have our ideas and plans for the future....it is only NOW that we can choose to act and then do so.
Maybe we have scars... Maybe we made scars... Maybe we see them all around us and not of our doing... Maybe it is too easy to NOT see them because we have better things to do....
Scars ARE stumbling blocks.
We don't have to be responsible for them to remove them or to heal them or to bridge over them.
We have one sky over us. We walk on one earth. We all bleed red.... We see We hear We feel We speak...
Why are we not one...?

Where Horses Walk When They Want To Race

Anybody want to guess what this is about....?????
Where Horses Walk When They Want To Race
I've seen lots of times like these... the friends they come and the friends they leave... and a man gets low and down... when all he knows just ain't around...! Yet, i've been thinking for some time... only~fools want peace of mind... but i should go to be someplace... where horses walk when they want to race...! ……. Maybe you will be the one... who lets me sleep with the morning sun..; then we can talk and walk awhile... share a joke and a half-assed smile.. We can tell a tale or two... say how life~is ~like the morning dew.., and we won't have to save our face... where horses walk when they want to race.. ….. But all the good things have their ends... time gets scattered by the four strong winds.. The rivers run before they die... into the seas where the eagles fly... Love and hate have had their ways... night has finally numbed my days... and i am thinking i should leave no trace... where horses walk when they want to race...!
