Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Breath of Heaven ... Dec 4, 2008 7:47 am
Mood: 86, 299 Views
A beautiful newer Christmas song written by Amy Grant and I have the cd song sung by Vince Gill.

I have traveled many moonless nights,
Cold and weary with a babe inside,
And i wonder what i've done.
Holy father you have come,
And chosen me now to carry your son.

I am waiting in a silent prayer.
I am frightened by the load i bear.
In a world as cold as stone,
Must i walk this path alone?
Be with me now.
Be with me now.

Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.

Do you wonder as you watch my face,
If a wiser one should have had my place,
But i offer all i am
For the mercy of your plan.
Help me be strong.
Help me be.
Help me.

Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.

20 facts about your enemies ... Dec 3, 2008 9:57 am
Mood: 19, 360 Views
20 FACTS ABOUT YOUR ENEMIES By Dr. Mike Murdock:

1. Jesus expected His disciples to stir up enemies (Mt 10:22). 2. Jesus instructed His disciples to anticipate enemies (Mt 10:16).
3. Jesus warned His disciples ahead of time that certain men would become their enemies (Mt 10:17- 18 ) .
4. You should never disclose publicly the amount of any damage done by your enemy.
5. An uncommon enemy will require uncommon wisdom to overcome. 6. Overcoming your enemy is the key to your rewards (Rev 3:5,12).
7. You will always have an enemy (Mt 10:22).
8. Your enemy is anyone unhappy over your progress (Ezra 4:5, 23, 24).
9. Your enemy is a door, not a wall, to your next season (Job 42:10).
10. Anything good automatically has an enemy.
11. When you discover your assignment, you will discover your enemy.
12. When God completes a season in your life, he may harden the heart of an enemy toward you that will help boot kick you into the next season of your life.
13. Your enemy will attempt to drag you into unnecessary conflict which promises little or no rewards.
14. Loving your enemies will create great rewards.
15. Your enemy is often ignorant of your past victories, which makes them vulnerable and unprepared for you.
16. You should expect to win every battle against your enemy. 17. The Holy Spirit will teach you the principles of spiritual warfare against your enemy.
18. You will never outgrow having enemies - you must simply learn how to fight God's way.
19. Your enemy will never seek to understand you, but only to discredit you.
20. Your enemy is a natural and necessary part of your life (John 15:18-21).
by Dr. Mike Murdock

Some in your life that were once friends will become your enemies. This is just a harsh reality of human existence. There is no way to insulate yourself from this human experience. But God's Word does offer ways to overcome this experience. Withdrawal won't work. Denial won't work. Quitting won't work. Bitterness won't work. Refusal to ever trust anyone again won't work. The only thing that will work is to apply the principles of God's Word and to work your way through it with God's help. By Dan Cheatham

Who started Christmas ... a story ... Dec 2, 2008 8:09 am
Mood: 18, 289 Views
A woman was Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of walking down row after row of toys and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the store elevator with her two children in hand.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, making sure we don't forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened revealing a crowd in the car. She pushed her way in and dragged her two kids and all her bags of stuff in with her .

As the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and blurted out, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up, and shot."

From the back of the car, a quiet calm voice responded, "Don't worry, we've already crucified Him."

The rest of the trip down was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word.

If we all would, just think how much better this world would be.

Jesus is the reason for the season.

Wise men still seek Him.

Psalm 63:1-8 (NLT)

1 O God, you are my God;
I earnestly search for you.My soul thirsts for you;
my whole body longs for you
in this parched and weary land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in your sanctuary
and gazed upon your power and glory.
3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!

4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.
5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast.I will praise you with songs of joy.
6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.
7 Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.

The Word speaks for itself!! Blessings to all!!

Friendships ... Nov 28, 2008 2:29 pm
Mood: 48, 318 Views
Friendships are different from all other relationships. Unlike acquaintanceship, friendship is based on love. Unlike lovers and married couples, it is free of jealousy. Unlike children and parents, it knows neither criticism nor resentment. Friendship has no status in law. Business partnerships are based on a contract. So is marriage. Parents are bound by the law. But friendships are freely entered into, freely given, freely exercised.

Give thanx with a grateful heart ... Nov 26, 2008 3:37 pm
Mood: 49, 287 Views
Patricia King:"Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart" (in part)

Gratefulness to Him

The Lord is touched deeply by the expression of our gratefulness to Him. Gratefulness carries a sweet savor and ministers the fragrance of thanksgiving, love, and kindness. Oftentimes, individuals who have been blessed by our ministry will approach me in a meeting or write me an email or letter sharing how thankful they were for what they received through our ministry. Sometimes they will give a little token of their appreciation through a special card or a little gift.

There is never a time when I am not deeply touched and humbled through their sweet expressions of gratitude. Often I am touched to tears. I love serving the Body of Christ and I don't personally expect to be thanked or honored in any way. I love serving and blessing God's children and I adore the privilege of pouring myself out for them, but when an individual graciously expresses their thanksgiving, it both disarms me and empowers me. It always carries a heavenly fragrance.

In John 12, Mary of Bethany poured out an offering of thanks on the feet of Jesus. She had sat at His feet often as she received from His presence and teaching. Now, she was pouring out the perfume of her grateful heart. Many believe that the expensive oil she poured out upon Him was in fact her dowry. In gratefulness for all He was to her, she poured out her future upon Him. Without a dowry, she would have no hope for a husband.

The fragrance of this act of love filled the room and it filled Jesus. Some say that on the Cross the fragrance of this oil was still experienced in the atmosphere. Others say that it even flooded the tomb where He was buried. The fragrance of a grateful heart does indeed bring Heaven to Earth and the Lord loves it.

Seven Points to Meditate On

The following are seven points to meditate on regarding the grateful heart:

1. The grateful heart is a sign of a humble heart.

In order to exercise gratefulness, you need to move your eyes off yourself and esteem God and others higher than yourself. Gratefulness and humility go together.

2. The grateful heart is evidence of a worshipping heart.

When you express your gratefulness to the Lord, it is evidence of a heart full of adoration and thankfulness to Him. This adoration releases worship.

3. The grateful heart ministers blessing and encouragement to the Lord and others.

Gratefulness warms the heart of those who receive it. It ministers encouragement.

4. The grateful heart often opens the Heavens over us so that blessings are poured out.

Whatever you sow, you will reap. If you sow the blessing of gratefulness into the Heavens, the Heavens will pour out blessings upon you. On the other hand, if you murmur and complain, the Heavens can be brassed over and you will be hindered from living under the blessings of Heaven above.

5. The grateful heart will often give victory in warfare.

We know that thanksgiving and praise will oftentimes release the victory of the Lord in the midst of battle. This was the case with Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 when he called the nation to praise the Lord while enemies, much stronger than themselves, hemmed them in on every side. Their praise changed the atmosphere. They were delivered from being victims to victors.

6. The grateful heart releases and sustains divine provision and miracles.

Before the miracle of the loaves and the fishes took place in Mark 8, Jesus gave thanks. There was more than enough for the 4,000 people there that day. When ten lepers were cleansed in Luke 17:11-19, only one returned with a grateful heart. This was the one who was not only cleansed, but made whole.

7. The grateful heart ushers in the glory.

I have discovered that when I release my thanksgiving and gratefulness to the Lord, His tangible presence falls. This is what happened in 2 Chronicles 5:11-14 at the dedication of the temple. When they celebrated His goodness and mercy with thankful hearts, the glory cloud filled the house of God.

Let's commit to living before God with a grateful heart. We have so much to be thankful for and He is forever worthy of our sincere praise.

Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One, Forever!

Frog hat ... Nov 25, 2008 3:23 pm

FROG HAT

My 9-year-old's last-second request surprised his doctor and taught me a
valuable lesson about sharing the gospel....Tina Blessitt

Last fall my 9-year-old son, Austin, had his tonsils removed. Before
the surgery, Austin 's anesthesiologist came to start an IV. He was
wearing a cool surgical cap covered in colorful frogs. Austin loved that
'frog hat.'

The doctor explained that he had two choices. He could either try to
start the IV, or he could wait until Austin was up in the operating
room. In the OR the doctor would give Austin some 'goofy' gas, and start
the IV when he was more relaxed.

'So, Austin,' he asked, 'which do you want?'

Austin replied, 'I'll take the gas.'

But when the doctor started to leave, Austin called, 'Hey, wait.'

The doctor turned. 'Yeah, buddy, what do you need?'

'Do you go to church?'

'No,' the doctor admitted. 'I know I probably should, but I don't.'

Austin then asked, 'Well, are you saved?'

Chuckling nervously, the doctor said, 'Nope. But after talking to you,
maybe it's something I should consider.'

Pleased with his response, Austin answered, 'Well, you should, 'cause
Jesus is great!'

'I'm sure He is, little guy,' the doctor said, and quickly made his exit.

After that a nurse took me to the waiting room. Someone would come and
get me when Austin 's surgery was done.

After about 45 minutes, the anesthesiologist came into the waiting room.
He told me the surgery went well and then said, 'Mrs. Blessitt, I don't
usually come down and talk to the parents after a surgery, but I just
had to tell you what your son did.'

Oh boy, I thought. What did that little rascal do now?

The doctor explained that he'd just put the mask on Austin when my son
signaled that he needed to say something.

When the doctor removed the mask, Austin blurted, 'Wait a minute, we
have to pray!'

The doctor told him to go ahead, and Austin prayed, 'Dear Lord, please
let all the doctors and nurses have a good day. And Jesus, please let
the doctor with the frog hat get saved and start going to church. Amen.'

The doctor admitted this touched him. 'I was so sure he would pray that
his surgery went well,' he explained. 'He didn't even mention his
surgery. He prayed for me! Mrs. Blessitt, I had to come down and let you
know what a great little guy you have.'

A few minutes later a nurse came to take me to post-op. She had a big
smile on her face as we walked to the elevator.

'Mrs. Blessitt, I couldn't wait to tell you something exciting that your son did.'

With a smile, I told her that the doctor already mentioned Austin 's prayer.

'But there's something you don't know,' she said. 'Some of the other
nurses and I have been witnessing to and praying for that doctor for a
long time. After your son's surgery, he tracked a few of us down to tell
us about Austin's prayer. He said, 'Well girls, you got me. If that
little boy could pray for me when he was about to have surgery, then I
think maybe I need his Jesus too.'

Wow! Austin had played a small part in something wonderful. But then, so
did the nurses who prayed and witnessed.

I thought about John's words in his Gospel, 'One sows and the other
reaps' (John 4:37 ).

Austin 's experience taught me that, although we never know which role
we may be called to play, in the end it doesn't matter. What's important
is that we remain faithful in sharing the gospel.
