Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Rejoicing here ... Dec 24, 2008 10:31 am
Mood: rejoicing, 87 Views
"This is a day that the Lord has made; we ( I ) will (my choice - I CHOOSE TO ) rejoice and be glad in it."

Psalm 118:24

I make a conscious choice to rejoice in this beautiful day that the Lord has made. Despite if it's a cloudy, stormy day or not - despite the circumstances in my life - my life no longer depends on what is going on in the world around me - my life depends on Christ and what He says - He tells me to rejoice. He doesn't say rejoice only if things are going well and you are perfectly healthy and all your kids are behaving and you just got a promotion on your job and all the bills are paid. NO - He says REJOICE! Don't wait until everything is perfect in your life (you might be waiting a really loooooooong time) - REJOICE NOW - when everything isn't looking so great or perfect - REJOICE because you have Christ in your life - REJOICE because He loves you so much - REJOICE because He never leaves you nor forsakes you - REJOICE because He is taking you through that circumstance - REJOICE because eternity is your home - REJOICE because you are breathing - there are a trillion billion things you could be rejoicing and praising God about. Take a moment right now and think of a couple of things you could rejoice about - and then REJOICE and praise Him. Double dog dare ya'!!

God really really really really LOVES YOU!! He does!! I'm not kidding!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

Wonderful praise report ... Dec 23, 2008 3:00 pm
Mood: happy, 130 Views
In April and May of this year I asked all of you to help me pray for my friend Nancy's daughter-in-law in KY. READ BELOW!! Well, Olivia Faith was born Dec 19th at 4:14 am - 7 lbs 4 oz. Healthy with a full head of hair - she's gorgeous.

Below I tell about Laura's bout with cervical cancer - and how she was told she would never have a baby. And when she got pregnant they told her they would have to sew her cervix shut when she was 4 months along and that she would have to have the baby by C-section!! Well - more miracles - she didn't have to have her cervix sewn shut and she had the baby by natural birth. Isn't God amazing? What a Christmas present for the family!

Thank you for all your prayers for Laura and Jesse and baby Olivia Faith. See what prayer can do???

4/27/08 "I just talked to my friend Nancy in KY - she just found out that her son's wife is pregnant - Laura has a history that includes cervical cancer with a prognosis that she couldn't never bear children. Jesse and Laura need a miracle in their life and I ask for your prayers in this regard.

5/20/08 I just got good news - your prayers were heard - Laura is now 2 months and 3 weeks pregnant - she was further along than they expected. And she is expecting the baby around Christmas. Because of her previous bouts with cervical cancer - when she is 4 months along they will have to go in and sew her cervix shut. And she will have to have the baby by ceasarian section when it's time for it to be born. So please continue to pray.

Just a moment ... Dec 20, 2008 10:04 am
Mood: joyful, 225 Views
Just a Moment
by Max Lucado

It all happened in a moment, a most remarkable moment.

As moments go, that one appeared no different than any other. If you could somehow pick it up off the timeline and examine it, it would look exactly like the ones that have passed while you have read these words. It came and it went. It was preceded and succeeded by others just like it. It was one of the countless moments that have marked time since eternity became measurable.

But in reality, that particular moment was like none other. For through that segment of time a spectacular thing occurred. God became a man. While the creatures of earth walked unaware, Divinity arrived. Heaven opened herself and placed her most precious one in a human womb.

The omnipotent, in one instant, made himself breakable. He who had been spirit became pierceable. He who was larger than the universe became an embryo. And he who sustains the world with a word chose to be dependent upon the nourishment of a young girl.

God as a fetus. Holiness sleeping in a womb. The creator of life being created.

God was given eyebrows, elbows, two kidneys, and a spleen. He stretched against the walls and floated in the amniotic fluids of his mother.

God had come near.

He came, not as a flash of light or as an unapproachable conqueror, but as one whose first cries were heard by a peasant girl and a sleepy carpenter. The hands that first held him were unmanicured, calloused, and dirty.

For thirty-three years he would feel everything you and I have ever felt. He felt weak. He grew weary. He was afraid of failure. He was susceptible to wooing women. He got colds, burped, and had body odor. His feelings got hurt. His feet got tired. And his head ached.

To think of Jesus in such a light is—well, it seems almost irreverent, doesn’t it? It’s not something we like to do; it’s uncomfortable. It is much easier to keep the humanity out of the incarnation. Clean the manure from around the manger. Wipe the sweat out of his eyes. Pretend he never snored or blew his nose or hit his thumb with a hammer.

He’s easier to stomach that way. There is something about keeping him divine that keeps him distant, packaged, predictable.

But don’t do it. For heaven’s sake, don’t. Let him be as human as he intended to be. Let him into the mire and muck of our world. For only if we let him in can he pull us out.

It all happened in a moment. In one moment … a most remarkable moment. The Word became flesh.

There will be another. The world will see another instantaneous transformation. You see, in becoming man, God made it possible for man to see God. When Jesus went home he left the back door open. As a result, “we will all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52)

The first moment of transformation went unnoticed by the world. But you can bet your sweet September that the second one won’t. The next time you use the phrase “just a moment, … ” remember that’s all the time it will take to change this world.

How can you NOT worship Him ... who is He to you ... Dec 19, 2008 11:41 am

HOW CAN WE NOT WORSHIP HIM?
written 8/2005

He is everything
He is all
He is I Am
He is the Rock
The plans He has for you He planned before you were even formed
In your mother’s womb – even from the beginning of time
He is the very next breath you take
HOW CAN YOU NOT WORSHIP HIM?

You praise Him for what He has done
But you worship Him for who He is
SO I ASK - WHO IS HE TO YOU?
Are you saved – then He is Savior to you
Have you been healed?
Emotionally – physically – financially?
Has He ever healed your broken heart or your wounded spirit?
Then He is healer to you.
Has He delivered you out of the very pit of hell? You should be dead!
Then He is deliverer to you.
Has he ever consoled you in the midst of grief and sorrow?
Then He is comforter to you.
Has He ever taken care of you and met your needs?
Then you know Him as provider.
Has He ever given you guidance or advice – then He is wonderful counselor
HOW CAN YOU NOT WORSHIP HIM?

He is the Alpha and Omega
He never changes
He never lies
He was and is and is to come
He is a two edged sword
He is our armor
He is mighty in battle
He is liberty
HOW CAN YOU NOT WORSHIP HIM?

He is the Holy One of Israel
He is Emmanuel
He is the Lion of Judah
He is Yahweh and Yah
He is Abba – dear Father
He is Adonai – Master
He is Elohim – Creator
He is El Elyon – God Most High
He is Jehovah Jireh – the Lord my provider
Jehovah Nissi – the Lord my banner
Jehovah Shalom – the Lord my peace
Jehovah Rophe – the Lord my healer
Jehovah Tsidkenkenu – the Lord my righteousness
Jehovah Makadesh – the Lord my sanctifier
Jehovah Rohi – the Lord my shepherd
He is El Shaddai – the Lord our supplier
HOW CAN YOU NOT WORSHIP HIM?

His name is Holy
His name is above ALL names
He is strength
And love and peace and joy
He is the Lamb of God
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
He is Almighty God
He is the one that wipes away your tears
He is the Christ
He is merciful and just and full of grace
He is the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley
He is the bright and morning star
And so much more than mere words can say

HOW CAN YOU NOT WORSHIP HIM?

Have a blessed Merry Christmas all ... Dec 19, 2008 7:08 am

This is a good story - kinda long but worth the read!!

Have a Blessed Merry Christmas all!

> > Pa never had much compassion for the lazy or those

> >
> > It was Christmas Eve 1881. I was fifteen years old
> > and feeling like the world had caved in on me because there

> >
> > After supper was over I took my boots off and

> > I getting the rifle for Christmas, now Pa was dragging me
> > out in the cold, and for no earthly reason that I could see.
> > We'd already done all the chores, and I couldn't

Faith - meekness - temperance ... 3rd and last part ... Dec 15, 2008 11:21 am
Mood: still thinking, 246 Views
This is 3rd and last part of a continued word study on "Are my fruits showing?" - which I posted a few days ago - you can read it at this link >>> Are your fruits showing ...

7) Faith – ‘trust + believing = faith’, confidence in the testimony of another, belief, confidence, trust

opposites – fear, doubt, uncertainty, skepticism, worry, anxiety

Matthew 9:29 “Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.”

Matthew 17:20 “If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

Mark 5:34 “And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague”

Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

8 ) Meekness – patient, steadfast, not harboring resentment, submissive, modest, tolerant, tender hearted

opposites – domineering, bossy, willful, arrogant, proud

Ephesians 4:2 “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.”

Titus 3:2 “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.”

9) Temperance – self control, moderation, restraint, prudence, will power

opposites – wantonness, indulgent, unrestrained, excess

2 Peter 1:6 “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.”

Philippians 4:5 “Let your moderation be known unto all men.”

You may want to read Gal 5:16-26 from the beginning again.

4) Longsuffering – forbearance, patiently enduring trouble or offense, refraining from retaliation

opposites – impatience, restless, hasty, anger

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Romans 2:3 “Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?”

5) Gentleness – mildness combined with tenderness, compassionate, merciful, kind, meek

opposites – cruel, unkind, hard hearted, harsh, violent, offensive

Psalm 18:35 “Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.”

2 Corinthians 10:1 ”Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ.”

Love - joy - peace ... part 1 ... Dec 15, 2008 11:01 am
Mood: teachable, 191 Views
This is a continuation of my "Are Your Fruits Showing?" post from a few days ago - defining each fruit of the Spirit from a Biblical perspective - here is the link to that post if you would like to check it out: Are your fruits showing ...

1) Love – unselfish, benevolent concern for another, strong tender affection, great fondness

opposites – hate, repulsion, disgust, bitterness, jealousy, lust, greed, lying stealing, envy

1 Corinthians 13 – NKJV - “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.”

2) Joy – great delight, gladness of heart, happiness
