Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Bad new virus out there ... Nov 3, 2009 6:07 am
Mood: enraged, 430 Views
Actually it's called a "Rogue" or "Misleading" computer virus. And I caught it about 3 days ago right here on good ole' Big Church. So I'm going to tell you all about it cause I don't want you to get hooked up with it in any way!!

The biggest thing to know about it is it's a fake and a scam to get you to give your personal information and credit card numbers. It isn't actually a security program at all. So be aware of this. It came to me as "CYBER SECURITY" and "CYBER PROTECTION CENTER". It has other names dealing with security and anti-virus issues. I already have Norton 360 has my anti-virus agent - so I could not figure why this thing was coming up - I even turned on my anti-virus to scan and it didn't pick this one up because it is so new. It's vicious.

It starts out with pop-ups saying you have a bunch of threats on your computer - trojans and such - it will be a high number like 30 or 40 of them - it freaks you out. If you hit the little x in the upper corner to close it down - that action actually starts the downloading of it rather than closing it out - a trick - a deception.

THIS IS IMPORTANT - IF YOU GET A POP UP THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE - TO GET OUT OF IT HIT THE ALT BUTTON AND THE F4 BUTTON - TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME. IT DELETES THE POP UP WITHOUT IT DOING ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER - I'VE TRIED IT AND IT WORKS (even with the good pop-ups). The Norton 360 guy told us about this!

It practically took over my computer - I tried to get into Big Church and it wouldn't let me in - it said it was an unsafe site. The same thing happened with my email sights - it wouldn't let me print out a coupon from Kohl's - then it finally told me Internet Explorer was an unsafe sight - and so on and so on and so on.

So I got on my lap tap and looked up Norton 360 - found out about this virus and also got a phone number to call their help desk. They were very helpful - but it did cost me $99 to get the virus removed and they did it remotely while on the phone and I can't get it back. The reason it wasn't covered by Norton 360 is because it is very new and more vicious than the previous version of it.

It's a very frustrating virus - I hope you don't get it - please remember to do the ALT & F4 button thing with any pop-ups that don't look right to you.
Blessings to all!!
