Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Hotlists ... pros and cons ... Oct 13, 2008 11:26 am

I've had some interesting experiences with the BC 'hotlist' lately. I guess the connotation of the word "hot" used in a Christian environment just turns me off - it stirs up words like sleazebag and slimeball and creepy scammers and just plain idiots - and etc and etc. I know that some guys (and maybe gals too) use at as a "what's available next if this one don't work out list" - let's just say I know that one from personal experience.

But recently I've come to find out that some folks just use it simply to navigate easily around BC - just click on the name in the 'hotlist' and you can go easily to their profile or blog. Now I've never 'hotlisted' anyone - so have no personal experience with this aspect of hotlisting.

Most of my female friends don't like to be 'hotlisted' anymore then they like to be flirted with with kisses and winks from total strangers that often seem creepy - yup we read those profiles and some of them are truly creepy.

I've wished I could delete those that 'hotlist' me like you can delete those that 'wink' at me. But alas you are stuck with them forever or at least until they take you off their 'hotlist'.

Men what do you think about it?

Did you realize a lot of us Christian ladies don't like the 'hotlist' concept?

Why do you use it when you use it?

Or the same questions here for any ladies in BC that might use the 'hotlist' feature!

An alternative to the hotlist would be to invite them into your friend network - or email them from BC - or simply respond to them in one of their posts - just a thought here!!

Now I'm thinking we need to call the 'hotlist' by a different sort of name since we seem to be stuck with it - so have written several possibilities down - Beth suggested the first one by the way - what's your suggestion.

Let me know what you think. Keep in mind that this is a fun post with a little bit of seriousness going on here. So think about what you write - we are not here to hurt anyone's feelings or anything.

Blessings to all!!
