"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

Listen to the sounds
of a bird brightly singing
or the lapping of water
gently against the shore

How tenderly you should listen
to the sound of Jesus' voice
softly whispering
as a breeze
A breeze that blows softly through your hair
Something you might miss if you weren't paying attention

Or like the ducks swimming quietly
across the lake - you might have missed
them if you hadn't looked up suddenly
and caught the motion in the water

Or you might forget to take notice of the sunlight
falling on your face - just because
you're so accustomed to it –
You don't pay attention to the glory of it
as it caresses your skin

He speaks to you in precious moments
such as these
He uses the sounds of nature to speak to you
an old sound - a new sound - a timeless sound - a forever sound
speaking to your heart without words - but with beauty
With the glory of His wonders
He speaks

I just want to share something with you all - it just occured to me when I was petting my beautiful kitty Whisper a little while ago. She just loves to play a pursuit game with me - she will lay down just a few inches out of my reach and so if I want to pet her - I have to pursue her - I have to get out of my seat and go to where she is. No amount of persuading works - she will not budge towards me. But once I move closer towards her and reach her and pet her - she rewards me openly with copious affection and lots of purring - so it's worth all my effort and time.

I think there is a parallel here with our Lord - I think He gets great pleasure when we take time to pursue him - even if but for a few moments. Sometimes He just stands a little out of our reach - so we must purpose to go after Him. Is He beckoning you to play? I encourage you to put down that remote - set aside that broom - shut down that computer - and pursue Him. He doesn't always require hours - perhaps just a few minutes this time - pursue Him - spend a little extra time with Him - the rewards will astound you!! Really!!

Recently the Lord gave me Psalm 30:5 – it says “Weeping may endure for the night – but joy comesthings or even people - it’s dependant on you being a child of the Most High God and that you are redeemed by the blood of Jesus. So instead of sorrow, misery, agony and despair – choose exultation and gladness of heart and rejoicing. Choose to stand on the Word of God and what He says about you and He says you are His “mast in the morning.” I like the way the Message Bible states it “The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.” Isn’t that good? Maybe certain circumstances in your life are causing you some trouble or sadness for a time – but the Word of God says joy and laughter is not far off – so do you believe the Word of God or do you believe what the enemy whispers in your ear about those lousy circumstances – I don’t know about you – but I CHOOSE to believe the Word of God. How about you? Joy is great delight, gladness of heart, lively emotion and rejoicing. The joy of the Lord isn’t dependant on circumstances or erpiece” and you are “the apple of His eye” and you are “made in His image”. That is something to praise God about!! Hallelujah!! Hallelujah!!

Page 171:

For the essence of grace is surprise. There is nothing shocking about giving people exactly what they deserve. Grace subverts the rules and gives people what they don’t deserve. It is motivated by the warmth of love rather than by cold calculation. Therefore, grace is always doing something we didn’t expect.”

Page 21:
“Such grace can come only from God. It is the gift unsought, unmerited, unlimited. For no matter what we have done, no matter the depth of our transgression, the darkness of our hearts – grace overrules them all. God pursues us relentlessly, He will not give us up, and once He has captured us, He won’t let us go.”

I'm not sure who wrote this but I think it's good:

These 2 paragraphs are from a book called "Captivating" by John and Stasi Eldridge from a sub-chapter called "Opening Our Hearts to the Romancer" page 116. This is on of my very favorite books.

"Every song you love, every memory you cherish, every moment that has moved you to holy tears has been given to you from the One who has been pursuing you from your first breath in order to win your heart. God's version of flowers and chocolates and candllight dinners comes in the form of sunsets and falling stars, moonlight on lakes and cricket symphonies; warm wind, swaying trees, lush gardens, and fierce devotion.

This romancing is immensely personal. It will be as if it has been scripted for 'your' heart. He knows what takes your breath away, knows what makes your heart beat faster. We have missed many of His notes simply because we shut our hearts down in order to endure the pain of life. Now, in our healing journey ... we must open our hearts again, and keep them open. Not foolishly, not to anyone and anything. But yes, we must choose to open our hearts again so that we might hear His whispers, receive His kisses."
