Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Have you praised the Name of the Lord yet today??? Well, you need to get busy. He is just waiting to hear your praises!! Your praises move Him on your behalf. Don’t believe me, huh?? Well, I just dare you to try it for yourself and see. Double dog dare ya’!!

Here are a few things the Bible says about “praise”:

2 Samuel 22:4 “I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”
Psalm 117:2 “For His merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth forever. Praise ye the LORD.”
Psalm 104:33 “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.”
Psalm 63:3 “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.”
Jeremiah 17:14 “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”
Acts 16:25-26 “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.”
Psalm 150:1-5 “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

I don’t know about you – but I think God takes praise seriously!! What about you??

When you . . . He is . . . May 31, 2006 11:20 am

When you are the neediest, He is the most sufficient.
When you are completely helpless, He is the most helpful.
When you feel totally dependent, He is absolutely dependable.
When you are the weakest, He is the most able.
When you are the most alone, He is intimately present.
When you feel the least, He is the greatest.
When you feel the most useless, He is preparing you.
When it is the darkest, He is the only Light you need.
When you feel the least secure, He is your Rock and Fortress.
When you are the most humble, He is most gracious.

From "Daddy Loves His Girls" by T.D. Jakes:

Page 37 - "The stench of your failure will never overwhelm the fragrance of His love. He adores you."

Page 57 - His unfailing love, when graciously bestowed upon us, enables us to love the imperfect. When He loves us we realize He does it in spite of what He knows about us. What a healing! What a lesson He teaches us when he loves us in spite of our failures and misalignments. The real challenge is to receive His love and learn to become secure enough to emulate that love in our relationships. Without that, we will have tremendous standards but absolutely no companionship. The walls that we build to protect us actually imprison us, and time escapes like sand trickly through an hourglass.

My dear daughters, remember God enables you to experience a level of faith that makes you a joy to be with. He heals you until you have no need to live in a vacuum. He brings you to the point where you can be free even from broken beginnings. So tell every woman you meet that even if her beginnings were less than what she hoped, God heals. Tell her that even if she had no father image or the father image she grew up with was distorted or perverted, Christ makes it possible to redefine what it means to have a father. He can assist her in her search to understand the masculine heart."

Page 27 - "Contentment comes from within. It destroys jealousy and celebrates success in others. It doesn't matter what you accomplish, if you never master contentment you will die miserable. Whether you are famous or infamous, educated or illiterate, if you never learn contentment, you will never be free."

Page 30 - "Your Heavenly Father is a God of second chances and new horizons. You are facing a rising sun. Always turn your back from the setting suns of life and wait through the night in the spirit of expectancy. There will always come a rising sun and a new day full of chances, new people and fresh possibilities. You see, the wonderful thing about being God's daughter is that He gives second chances by request."

Peacemakers vs Peacekeepers . . . May 30, 2006 12:52 pm

A nugget from John Bevere's book "Breaking Intimidation":

Page 39 - ""Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matt 5:9).

A peacekeeper avoids confrontation at any cost. He will go to any length to preserve a false sense of security for himself, which he mistakes for peace.

A peacemaker, on the other hand, will boldly confront no matter what it may cost him because he does not worry about himself. Instead, he is motivated by his love for God and truth. Only under these conditions can true peace thrive."

No Longer Damaged Goods . . . May 27, 2006 7:14 pm

Written 3-16-04

Everything from my childhood
Says I'm damaged goods
But I'm not!

Something in my childhood
Says I'm a bad girl
And deserved to be punished
But I am not and I do not

Sometimes there's a voice
That tells me I'm not worthy
But I am

Or that I'm not deserving or
I'm too old or
Nobody wants me
But that's a lie

Doesn't matter what the world says about me
I'm not damaged goods

It's what God says about me that counts . . .

And this is what He says about me
He says He has chosen me
He says I am blessed
He says I am healed
He says I am holy
He says I am the apple of His eye
He says I am His masterpiece
He says I am fearfully and wonderfully made
He says He will never leave me nor forsake me
He says I am His treasure and His beloved
And most of all He says He loves me
How awesome is that

Rejection . . . May 27, 2006 8:09 am
1047 Views
Rejection is a huge issue – not only in the Body of Christ – but all of humanity as well. Rejection is the root of many negative emotions – loneliness, shame, guilt, pride, hatred, self-hatred, anger, bitterness, resentment, betrayal, unforgiveness, self-pity, low self-esteem, even suicide. Does some of that sound familiar from your past or current life? Me too!! We’ve all dealt with rejection in some degree or other. Did you know that the opposite of rejection is love and acceptance? Well, now you do. Did you know that Ephesians 1:6 says “He has made us accepted in the beloved”? Jesus is the Beloved. That means that Jesus accepts you as you are and if He accepts you then He loves you – unconditionally. Wow – how amazing is that? When it seems the whole world rejects you – Jesus never rejects you or leaves you or forsakes you - never, ever, ever, ever, ever – not even for a second – or a fraction of a second.

You want to hear some more Good News?? Jesus wants to deliver you from rejection and heal every emotion damaged by that rejection. Yes, He really does. He loves you that much and is willing and able to accomplish that in your life. You might ask “what do I have to do to get healed”? It’s simple – you must believe that He is your saviour and healer – and choose to submit to His healing power - then let Him do the work. Jesus understands rejection on a very personal level – Isaiah 53:3 says “He was despised and rejected – a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief.” Jesus took all that rejection to the cross with Him – both His and ours – we don’t have to carry that rejection anymore. The work on the cross is finished – it’s complete – in and of itself.

Again, I want to tell you that you are “accepted in the beloved” – you are valuable – you are significant – you are loved and don’t let anyone try to tell you any different!!!

The Will of God will never take you,
Where the grace of God cannot keep you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the arms of God cannot support you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the power of God cannot endow you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Spirit of God cannot work through you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the army of God cannot protect you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the hands of God cannot mold you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the love of God cannot enfold you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,

The will of God will never take you,
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.

A carrot , an egg and a cup of coffee ... May 25, 2006 2:58 pm
1040 Views
Just received this by email and thought I would share it with you all:

A carrot , an egg and a cup of coffee ... You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again.

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as, one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil.

In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, "Tell me, what do you see?"

"Carrots, eggs, and coffee," she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft.

The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard-boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, "What does it mean, mother?"

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently.

The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its
inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

"Which are you?" she asked her daughter. "When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?"

Think of this: Which am I?

Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity?
Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Because Love is . . . May 25, 2006 11:15 am

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perserveres." 1 Cor 13:4-7 (NIV)

Lord,

Because love is patient. . .

Help me to be slow to judge, but quick to listen. Hesitant to criticize, but eager to encourage, remembering your endless patience with me.

Because love is kind. . .

Help my words to be gentle and my actions to be thoughtful. Remind me to smile and to say "Please" and "Thank you" because those little things still mean so much.

Because love does not envy and is not proud. . .

Help me have a heart that is humble and sees the good in others. May I celebrate and appreciate all that I have and all that I am, as well as doing the same for those around me.

Because love is not rude or self-seeking. . .

Help me to speak words that are easy on the ear and on the heart. When I'm tempted to get wrapped up in my own little world, remind me there's a great big world out there full of needs and hurts.

Because love is not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. . .

Help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. When I want to hold onto a grudge, gently help me to release it so I can reach out with a hand of love instead.

Because love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. . .

Help me stand up for what is right and good. May I defend the defenseless, and help the helpless. Show me how I can make a difference.

Because love always protects and always trusts. . .

Help me to be a refuge for those around me. When the world outside is harsh and cold, mayy my heart be a place of acceptance and warmth.

Finally, because love always perseveres. . .

Help my heart continually beat with love for You and others. Thank you for this day when we can celebrate love, and for showing us what that word really means. Amen
