Safe Harbor

"Safe Harbor" - it is a nautical term by the way and I just happen to be an ex-Navy girl - "is a place to come to when you've been damaged or beaten by the storms of life - it's a place of rest, refuge, and restoration - for a time - to receive healing or repair damages, and rest - in the Father's arms - no camping out here indefinitely - it will soon be time to get back out there and be about the Father's business. Yes, you can minister broken but how much more and better can you serve if you are restored and whole?"

"What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor." Psalms 107:30 NLT

Eagles in a Storm Jul 16, 2006 11:54 am

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm. When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm. Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them. The Bible says, "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31

I must praise Him anyway ... Jul 15, 2006 2:22 pm

It doesn't matter what I'm going through or what I'm feeling or what's going on around me - I MUST praise Him anyway. Will you praise Him with me?

Psalm 84

1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty.

**2 I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the LORD. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.

3 Even the sparrow finds a home there, and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young--at a place near your altar, O LORD Almighty, my King and my God!

4 How happy are those who can live in your house, always singing your praises.

5 Happy are those who are strong in the LORD, who set their minds on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

6 When they walk through the Valley of Weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs, where pools of blessing collect after the rains!

7 They will continue to grow stronger, and each of them will appear before God in Jerusalem.

8 O LORD God Almighty, hear my prayer. Listen, O God of Israel.

9 O God, look with favor upon the king, our protector! Have mercy on the one you have anointed.

**10 A single day in your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked.

11 For the LORD God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the LORD withhold from those who do what is right.

12 O LORD Almighty, happy are those who trust in you.

Interesting Stuff about Jezebel ... part 5 Jul 13, 2006 3:18 pm

If you haven't read part's 1-4 or what to review them - here they are:
Interesting stuff about Jezebel - part 1
Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part2
Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part 3
Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part 4

We next hear of Jezebel in Revelations - can you believe it - they are still talking about Jezebel clear to the end of the Bible. Hmmmmmmm! Does that mean she is still around? YES, the spirit of Jezebel is still around even to this very day.

In Revelations 2:20-29 speaking to the Church of Ephesus, the Bible says "Nevertheless, I have this against you: YOU TOLERATE THAT WOMAN JEZEBEL, WHO CALLS HERSELF A PROPHETESS (false prophet). By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.

21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, BUT SHE IS UNWILLING,

22 So, I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, UNLESS THEY REPENT OF HER WAYS.

23 I will strike her children (followers) dead. Then all the churches will know that I am He who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned sata's so-called deep secrets:

25 Only hold on to what you have until I come.

26 To him who overcomes and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations.

27 'He will rule them with an iron sceptor; he will dash them to pieces like pottery

28 just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star.

29 He, who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

OTHER STUFF ABOUT JEZEBEL

Jezebel is not gender specific.

Jezebel is well known to be a seductress or some call her a harlot. Seduction defined means to lead away - to lead astray by persuasion or false promises - temptation - lure. Seduction is deception - it's a lie. And with Jezebel who will use any means she can - to include sexual perversion - immorality is not the issue with her so much as is CONTROL AND POWER.

Jezebel hates authority, she hates repentance, she hates submission, she hates humility, she hates the prophetic and prophets, she hates prayer, she hates the Word of God, she hates God, she hates grace and mercy and the fruit of the Spirit and holiness and purity and on and on and on.

The four main tactics Jezebel operates in is domination, manipulation, intimidation and deception. Discouragement, fear and confusion are right up there too.

If you don't confront Jezebel she will knock you out of your authority - just like she did Ahab.

The spirit of Jezebel is responsible for divorce rates, families being out of order, abortions, homosexuality, pornography, murder, witchcraft, psychic networks, feminist movement, etc. etc.

Unless Jezebel repents - there is no hope for her - see Rev 2:21 above - Jezebels biggest fear is that people will embrace repentance - she hates repentance - she will hide from true repentance at all costs.

The point of this teaching is NOT to have you start looking at others and pointing fingers and calling them Jezebel or Ahab but to examine your own heart with God's help and expose and repent of any these traits you might find there - the potential lies in all of us to be a Jezebel or a Ahab. Personally I would rather be an Elijah or a Jehu - WHAT ABOUT YOU?

If you haven't read parts 1-3 here they are:
Interesting stuff about Jezebel - part 1
Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part2
Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part 3

Let's continue.

Later Ahab dies from a battle wound and his son takes kingship. By command of God, Elisha anoints Jehu (son of Jehoshaphat) to become king of Israel and destroy the family of Ahab and Jezebel - this is the Lord's revenge for Jezebel murdering the Lord's prophets and servants and seducing or TURNING THE HEART OF A NATION AWAY FROM THE LORD. She turned nearly 10,000,000 (yes, ten million) Israeli people to the worship of Baal. There were only 7,000 left who did not kneel to Baal.

2 Kings 9:16-29 (NLT) - As Jehu rides into Jezreel he is stopped by Jezebels' sons and is asked if he comes in peace - to which Jehu replies "How can there be peace as long as the idolatry and witchcraft (whoredoms and sorceries) of your mother, Jezebel, are all around us?" So Jehu killed the two sons immediately and heads to Jezebel's palace.

2 Kings 9:30-36 says - "When Jezebel, the queen mother, heard that Jehu had come to Jezreel, she painted her eyelids and fixed her hair and sat at a window (she thought she could seduce Jehu). When Jehu entered the gate of the palace, she shouted at him, "Have you come in peace you murderer? You are just like Zimri, who murdered his master!" Jehu looked up and saw her at the window and shouted , "WHO IS ON MY SIDE?" (And I might ask whose side are you on - have you chosen the Lord's side?) And two or three eunuches looked out at him. "Throw her down!" Jehu yelled. So they threw her out the window, and some of her blood spattered against the wall and on the horses. And Jehu trampled her body under his horse's hooves."

Then Jehu went into the palace and ate and drank (you see he was completely without pity for her). Afterward he said, "Someone go and bury this cursed woman, for she is the daughter of a king." But when they went out to bury her, they found only her skull, her feet, and her hands. When they returned and told Jehu, he stated "This fulfills the message from the Lord, which he spoke through his servant Elijah from Tishbe: "at the plot of land in Jezreel, dogs will eat Jezebels flesh. Her body will be scattered like dung on the field of Jezreel, so that no one will be able to recognize her."

2 Kings 10:1-28 - After Jezebel's death, Jehu went on to destroy Ahab's 70 sons and all relatives, all important officials, personal friends, priests, prophets and worshippers of Baal. Ahab had NO survivors. Then he destroyed the sacred pillar and the Baal temple. The NLT version says they converted the temple into a "public toilet". Jehu destroyed every trace of Baal worship from Israel.

From the Lekerev Report - Jerusalem, Israel - just received

Massive Hezbollah Attack; Seven IDF Soldiers Killed, Two Captured

Following a massive attack on Israel's northern border beginning about 9 am Israel time today, thousands of reserve soldiers were called into active duty. By noon, several hundred were already on their way to report for duty and by 4 pm this afternoon, hundreds more reserves were being picked up by Army busses around the country. We are anticipating a televised statement from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert at 8 pm - about an hour from now.

IDF tanks and ground troops entered Lebanon in response to the kidnapping of two soldiers and killing of 7 others. Air Force planes bombed bridges leading northward from Lebanon’s southern border with Israel, in order to prevent the movement of the kidnappers. Meanwhile, IAF helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) were combing the air above Lebanon searching for the captured soldiers as well. All we've been told about the kidnapped soldiers is that "at least one of them is still alive."

By mid-day, Israeli bombers were flying over the Lebanese capital of Beirut. Massive shelling by IDF artillery on both land and sea struck at least 17 targets across southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Olmert had called an emergency cabinet meeting for this evening at which time further decisions will be made regarding military action. Defense officials reportedly are seeking approval for a much wider offensive. Sources in the IDF Chief of Staff's office quoted COS Dan Halutz calling for Lebanon's infrastructure to be reverted back fifty years.

This is the first time the IDF has launched a large- scale re-entry into Lebanon since then-Prime Minister Ehu Barak initiated a unilateral IDF retreat from the region in May, 2000. Since then, Hizbullah has kidnapped three soldiers, launched several cross- border attacks and fired missiles at northern Israeli towns. The group has thousands of missile batteries deployed all along the border facing Israel. Hezbollah Chief Nasrallah said in a televised statement this afternoon that "Israel knows what we can do" and hinted at increasing aggression.

Olmert: 'An Act of War'

In his first statement after news broke of the attack on the northern border this morning and the capture of two of our soldiers, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declared that Hezbollah's attack was "an act of war." Olmert said the attack was not an act of terror but an attack by a sovereign state on the state of Israel and he is holding Lebanon responsible, as Hezbollah members hold positions in the Lebanese government.

Defense Minister Amir Peretz also said that the responsibility for the sharp escalation on Israel's northern border lies with the Lebanese government.

Senior Israel Defense Forces officers said Wednesday that "if the abducted soldiers are not returned we'll turn Lebanon's clock back 20 years."

PRAY

Your prayers for Israel, for the IDF, for our leaders at this time are much needed and requested. Pray also for the parents and relatives who have today lost their sons, husbands, brothers. Pray also for the now THREE captured IDF soldiers and their families as well. The nightmare has only begun for them. Bezrat Hashem, it will end quickly.

When you pray for the peace of Jerusalem - you also pray for the second coming of Christ - come quickly Lord Jesus!! How can we NOT praise Him - Marilyn

Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part 3 Jul 11, 2006 8:45 am

You might want to take a look at part 1 and part 2 of this series about Jezebel Interesting stuff about Jezebel - part 1 and Interesting stuff about Jezebel ... part2.

Let's continue.

Elijah now comes into the picture in Kings 18. The Lord tells Elijah to present himself to Ahab. Ahab calls Elijah a troublemaker and Elijah replies in 1 Kings 18:18-19 (NLT) "You and your family are the troublemakers for you have refused to obey the comands of the Lord and have worshipped the images of Baal instead. Now bring all the people of Israel to Mount Carmel, with all the 450 prophets of Baal and the 400 prophets of Asherah, who are supported by Jezebel."

Altars were set up at Mount Carmel to see whose God would consume the sacrifices - and of course we know that only the God of Elijah sent down a mighty fire from heaven and consumed the sacrifice. And immediately afterwards Elijah had all of Jezebel's prophets killed.

In 1 Kings 19 Ahab goes home and tells his wife Jezebel of these events. Then she in a total fit of rage, released such a flood of witchcraft and demonic power against Elijah that he literally fled for his life - and after such a great victory for the Lord.

Then there is the story about Naboth's Vineyards in 1 Kings 21 and how Ahab manipulates Jezebel into getting the vineyards for him. Ahab is angry that Naboth won't sell him his vineyards - he tells his wife - so Jezebel has Naboth killed under false pretenses and lets her husband take possession of them.

Then the Lord tells Elijah in 1 Kings 21:18-29

18 "Go down to meet King Ahab, who rules in Samaria. He will be at Naboth's vineyard in Jezreel, taking possession of it.

19 Give him this message: `This is what the LORD says: Isn't killing Naboth bad enough? Must you rob him, too? Because you have done this, dogs will lick your blood outside the city just as they licked the blood of Naboth!'

20 "So my enemy has found me!" Ahab exclaimed to Elijah. "Yes," Elijah answered, "I have come because you have sold yourself to what is evil in the LORD's sight.

21 The LORD is going to bring disaster to you and sweep you away. He will not let a single one of your male descendants, slave or free alike, survive in Israel!

22 He is going to destroy your family as he did the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat and the family of Baasha son of Ahijah, for you have made him very angry and have led all of Israel into sin.

23 THE LORD HAS ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE DOGS OF JEZREEL, WILL EAT THE BODY OF YOUR WIFE, JEZEBEL, AT THE CITY WALL.

24 The members of your family who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and those who die in the field will be eaten by vultures."

25 No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the LORD's sight as did Ahab, FOR HIS WIFE, JEZEBEL, INFLUENCED HIM.

26 He was especially guilty because he worshiped idols just as the Amorites had done--the people whom the LORD had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites.

27 When Ahab heard this message, he tore his clothing, dressed in sackcloth, and fasted. He even slept in sackcloth and went about in deep mourning.

28 Then another message from the LORD came to Elijah, who was from Tishbe:

29 "Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy all his descendants."

More to come.

Jezebel is quite an interesting Bible character. I would like to give you some history of her from a Bible perspective. We first hear of her in 1 Kings 16:31, where she marries Ahab, King of Israel (874-853 BC) "he took a wife Jezebel, the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians". Ahab married Jezebel out of disobedience to God because she was not from the tribes of Israel.

She was also an idol worshipper. Instead of Jezebel converting to her husbands religion - she introduced the worship of Baal into Israel, and brought 450 prophets of Baal (god of the elements) and 400 prophets of Ashera (goddess of fertility) to the palace, where they ate at the king's table (1 Kings 18:19).

Ahab even built an altar to Baal in Samaria (1 Kings 16:32). Verse 33 says "and Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him." Idolotry is Jezebel's trademark. She also persecuted and destroyed all the prophets of the Lord except 100 that Obidiah hid in caves.

To be continued.
