I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Here's a song by the FRAY that has played on my radio at least a million times- but somehow I still like it. Sometimes we complain like that God's timing is somehow off but of course we don't see the big picture- not like He does. The part of the song that says:

"Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded"

I picture that lonely soul surrounded by angels- their wings making a circle in prayer. We've all been there and if you haven't you will be. On the edge of it all- angry, in tears but totally real with God giving up and ready to surrender so that God and the angels can lift you up and do their work in your life.

As I see it this is the only reason God waits untill things get bad- so that we can stop long enough to surrender our broken hearts and let him come in and lovingly heal us and lift us up. Trust and surrender can be the hardest thing for a people who think they can do it all on their own- His ways are higher and better- when will we learn?

YOU FOUND ME

I found God on the corner of 1st and Amistad
Where the West was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where've you been?" He said, "Ask anything."

Where were you, when everything was falling apart.
All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang
And all I needed was a call that never came
To the corner of 1st and Amistad

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

But in the end everyone ends up alone
Losing him, the only one who's ever known
Who I am, who I'm not and who I want to be
No way to know how long he will be next to me

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

The early morning, the city breaks
And I've been calling for years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
You never sent me no letters
You got some kind of nerve taking all I want

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, Where were you? Where were you?

Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

Why'd you have to wait, to find me, to find me?

If you are a of God, a at heart, BigChurch, a fan of PBS's Sesame Street, in touch with your inner in anyway and loved the muppets and/or any of their movies- even just a little... then please go to my blog and give me a shout out and tell me who you favorite muppet character was and why...

Certainly we can all find some kind of common ground here... I think we all have at least one good childhood memory connected to these fuzzy characters- even if it's with something from your - or grandkids- hey, that would be cool too! Bonus points for Christmas stories & memories!

I know it's goofy but sometimes you just gotta be a little goofy to get through the tough times and we all know the Holidys can be some of the toughest. I know life gets hard and really serious sometimes but try to smile anyway- maybe even a laugh and a chuckle or two- it's the best medicine and I know I need that lately!

So be a little goofy today- especially if I left something goofy recently on your blog... go and see KERMIE on my blog @ the post will be right below this one tittled RAINBOW CONNECTION... and please be nice-cause' we all know- "It's not easy being green" unless you think that's "evil" LoL

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it's probably magic....

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa

TURN THE TIDE & RESPECT YOURSELF

It's true... if a woman will be true to herself and set a higher standard of self-respect the men who are attracted to her will have to rise to the occasion- and conduct themselves in a more considerate manner and as gentlmen.

IT'S NO SECRET... When it comes to sexuality & self control within today's society we all know it's at a desperate all time low in regard to both men and women... and frankly I too am getting sick of it- it has the effect of making one soul-sick...

It makes you wonder if a good healthy, love relationship is still possible between a man and a woman these days. Gone are the days when trust and respect were the hallmark on which to build a relationship- who needs to bother with that if you are just hooking up?

2 Chronicals 7:14
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

I have seen my own life transition into healing because I knew deep down inside- just because this is the way of current society it doesn't mean I have to follow- the trend.

I can go against the flow and respect myself... and I can say that men do respect me more for it. Sometimes it may seem like finding a good guy is like finding a needle in a haystack but I am finding more and more that they are out there.

Women are like Apples...

I love this illustration and I think it's appropriate for me to share this here. A woman should not have to lower her standards- by God's grace the right guy will find you- Don't stop believing!

"Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Some men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from off the ground that aren't as good, but easy. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, THEY'RE amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree"

Physical Boundaries- "No kissing before marriage" -Really?

Everyone has their own take on what's right and wrong when it comes to physical boundaries in a dating reltionship. Some would go so far as to say- "no kissing before marriage" which sounds a bit odd and unnatural if you ask me.

I certainly don't think the Song of Solomon advocates that school of thought so where does this kind of thinking come from?

And please someone tell me why is it so many men in generations past were able to kiss and lovingly embrace the women in their lives and still respect them enough to wait to have sex when it's appropriate- say on their wedding night? As far as I can see this is a good and healthy standard to maintain.

Why is it seemingly impossible even for most Christian men and women to maintain that standard now? This seems like an appropriate and healthy boundary if you ask me... Why can't people at least wait and have an actual honeymoon?

The physical act of loving and giving yourself completely to someone is a sacred thing. Once you are married then you are free and safe to explore that part of the relationship with your beloved and not before even if you do "feel" tempted to do so... that's the way I see it.

Elizabeth understood... (a sonnet by EBB)

This makes me feel not so alone on a cold and rainy night. I have been reading EBB's sonnets- the ones she wrote to her beloved RB. Although she died over 100 years before I was ever born her words are fresh and they give me hope as they speak straight to my heart and soul- this is appropriately #13

Sonnets from the Portuguese: XIII (13)

1)And wilt thou have me fashion into speech
2)The love I bear thee, finding words enough,
3)And hold the torch out, while the winds are rough,
4)Between our faces, to cast light on each?–
5)I drop it at thy feet. I cannot teach
6)My hand to hold my spirits so far off
7)From myself–me–that I should bring thee proof
8 )In words, of love hid in me out of reach.
9)Nay, let the silence of my womanhood
10)Commend my woman-love to thy belief,–
11)Seeing that I stand unwon, however wooed,
12)And rend the garment of my life, in brief,
13)By a most dauntless, voiceless fortitude,
14)Lest one touch of this heart convey its grief.

CRY A RIVER

This song is for Mia and for anyone else who may need it...

Cry A River

Who knew love would come walking thru my door
Turn a light on somewhere down inside
Give me a feeling I'd never had before
It was a long wait
It was just the wrong time

But I hope you'll hold me now
Somewhere within
And when you think about
What might have been

Cry a river
Flood the sea
Cry a river over me
Take the bitter
With the sweet
And cry a river over me

How do you argue with a feeling in your bones
'Bout what is and what isn't meant to be
Some things you live with
And you never let it show
Like the pain I felt
The day I watched you leave
But I hope you'll think of me
When tender winds blow
Sit on the shores of love
And just let it go

Cry a river
Flood the sea
Cry a river over me
Take the bitter
With the sweet
And cry a river over me

(Words and music by Amy Grant)

My response to Mia- and to any woman who has been through this

This is what Mia posted regarding her current situation... and what follows is my response:

I won't go into detail here right now but you people make sure you check out all aspects of an individual's life before you walk in there, all sweetness and light, and don't take anybody's word for gold until you have the evidence in your hands that tells the truth.

Take from my experience and learn from it. There is no hope for me at this point but there is hope for you. People can hide alot of things and some of these hidden things are major, life-changing, life or death. It's that serious. Do your homework and don't be ridiculous or stupid like I was.

I have a story to tell and it's not pretty. I'll give details privately if anyone wants to know but I am just admonishing everyone to stay alert, be careful, don't take anyone's word as gospel no matter how much you want to trust them. I have found that there are a myriad of ways to check a person out, their background, etc. And believe me, people don't change, I'm living proof of that. Be careful, folks, look out for yourselves and your family. God or not, it is a cruel world out there.

This is a warning to everyone, please heed it and take the appropriate steps so that what happened to me doesn't happen to you.

_____________________________________________

Mia- I am sorry you've had to travel down this road- of course there were some warning signs, but our emotions can sometimes cloud our judgement and make us so oblivious.

So many times you don't really know something until you know it- and that sucks- it really, really sucks. Hind sight is almost always 20/20 but by then it's usually too late and the damage has already been done.

I have been in similar circumstances and I was married to him for nearly ten years- you can get past this, but it's hard. I went through divorce and a couple of years of counseling individual and group therapy and it has helped me tremendously.

It probably won't take quite as long for you to get past this because you are able to see right now what it took me almost ten years to learn...

Please do not allow the valuable lesson you have just learned here to pass you by. I can promise you- if you do you will try to find a way to justify everything that has happened- then in time all hope really may be lost.

There is some wisdom for the pain, but I have been on my own for nearly seven years now- since 2001. Yes, it's still hard to trust, but time and counseling have been a big help- plus good friends.

You may love him but for both of your sakes please don't try to save the relationship. If Ken is ever going to learn anything from this- it's something he needs time for NOW apart from everyone to learn on his own.

Please do not try to enable him through this- Please let this go now while you are still able to see the ugly truth of it all. People who will hit and abuse you are sick and they need help- let him get the help he needs.

If you don't I can pretty much guarantee that you'll just keep repeating the same painful and abusive cycle with him again and again- Please don't put yourself through that. You need time, peace and healing God bless you with all of that and so much more. -Sharon

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL... I'VE DECIDED THIS IS THE NEXT SONG I AM GOING TO LEARN TO SING

THE STORY

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true... I was made for you

I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines
And I broke all the rules
But baby, I broke them all for you
Oh because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do, and I was made for you

You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends
who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you.

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you

Ohh yeah it's true... that I was made for you
