Rebirth Of The Phoenix

The phoenix was supposedly a bird that, when it died, rose again from it's ashes, or a new phoenix was born from the ashes. This was used to symbolize Christ and the resurrection in early Christian art.

"The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — a symbol of fire and divinity." Wikipedia This makes me think of the regeneration that God does in our lives, the healing of the hurts and wounds we suffer from the enemy of our souls. It also makes me think of the fact that through Him we have the promise of eternal life. That is not the same thing a immortality as immortality is of the flesh, not the spirit. But it does mean that we will live forever, with Him!

It also speaks to me of the verse Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Then too, it was supposedly a bird with gold and red plumes which goes right along with my current handle of redbird.

THE LAW IS THE LAW! Nov 16, 2006 7:33 pm
169 Views
I got this in an E-mail yesterday and wanted to share it with all of you. The person who sent it to me says at the bottom that it should go around the country and just keep going around the country. I think we can do better than that. I think we need to send it to our elected Government leaders, Congressman, Senators, President of the United States. I think we need to make our voices heard in this country as the majority here. I think we need to let these folks know that we are sick and tired of their supporting those who are trying to take our Father off of His throne here in this country. So I am asking all who will, please copy this and send it to your elected official's, take it to your churches, send it to your friends and families and have them send it to their elected officials. Let us unite and raise our voices and be heard. Let's hit them where it hurts, in their purses, because that is where this will lead. If they want political correctness then let us show them where it will get them.

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for the words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US citizen.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions

I would like to think that those people have the American public's best interests at heart.

BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I'D LIKE?

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the "US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the H ouse of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact...

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God...) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....

What do you all think????

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will stop giving in to the "minority opinions" and begin, once again, to represent the "majority" of ALL of the American people.

SO BE IT...........

Please Dear Lord,
Give us the help needed to keep you in our country!

'Amen' and 'Amen'

Touche!

These are definitely things I never thought about but from now on, I will be sure to question those in government who support these changes.

At the top, it says "I hope this makes its way around the USA several times over!!!!!"

Let's see that it does. Keep it in your mailbox and resend it whenever someone new comes along.

God Bless Our Troops & America.. No One Can Take THIS Message Away..

Alright, I want to find out how many of my brothers and sisters are fellow Texans. If so let us know and tell us where you are living now (in Texas or elsewhere)

Are you currently living in Texas but are originally from somewhere else? Let us know that as well.

Have you ever lived in Texas? Tell us about it.

E-mail to Spiritfilled Nov 13, 2006 7:37 pm
Mood: 31, 203 Views
I read spiritfilled's post Rick Joyner God's Truth Is Stronger Than Any Lie earlier and this letter is what I sent to her by e-mail as a result of that reading, not wanting to take up so much space on her blog. We felt that it might edify some of you as well so, here it is.
Marilyn, while reading your post, the following section just made something come alive within me. It's like a door opened a tiny bit and a little spark of light revealed what could be a portion of the answer to one of the questions I've asked all my life. Why?

Why was I born? Why has God allowed me to live the life I have lived? Why has He allowed me to suffer the things that I have suffered? Why didn't He just let me die of the heart problem I was born with, as an infant? Why hasn't He allowed me to die the many times I have attempted to take my own life? Why has He made me stay here and continue to go through this pain of loss, memories, heartaches, over and over again?

The church will not abandon the world, but at the time of its greatest troubles and darkness, will be an even brighter light, becoming like a bride without spot or wrinkle.

"This will forever be a witness that God's truth is stronger than any lie and will always prevail against any opposition."

Satan has a boast by which he was even able to persuade a third of the angels to rebel with him. The boast was that man, God's crowning creation (which He had brought forth to be able to comprehend Him, and therefore, have fellowship with Him in a special way), even when put in a perfect environment, would choose to disobey God and obey him (satan).

However, before the end of this age, "the bride" of the last Adam, Christ, will live in the most difficult place and in the darkest of times, but she will chose to obey.

This will forever be a witness to principalities and powers in the Heavenly places that God and His truth will always prevail:

There is a church being prepared to stand fast in even the darkest of times, against even the most cruel and ruthless opposition.

She will love the truth of God more than she even loves her own life.

She will not compromise that truth and will not retreat before the enemies of the cross.

She will challenge the greatest darkness of all time and she will prevail.

There will be no retreat in the bride of Christ, and nothing in her will be inclined to abandon ship.

She will be standing in victory when the King comes for her.

She will then be caught up into the air to meet Him in the clouds, to join the triumphant of all generations who are returning with Him, and to take their authority over the earth to restore all things.

Is it possible, that this life I have lived has been training for what lies ahead? Could it be that it has been to strengthen me, to give me the endurance I will need to stand during the trials to come? Am I perhaps being prepared to be one of these who will join in the great battle between the church and the forces of darkness?

Oh, sis, is it possible that we stand so near to that glorious day when our Lord will return? That we may witness His return? What an awesome thought! That soon we may see Him! Just the thought of it makes my soul leap with joy, my heart beat more rapidly, my mind race at all the possibilities, all the wonderful things that will happen when He comes, all the things that I will want to do simultaneously! Like jump for joy, fall at His feet, give Him a huge hug, sing, dance, cry, laugh, praise, worship, just to name a few!!! Ha, ha, ha!!!

I just wanted to share this all with you but didn't want to be a blog hog, know what I mean? I think that Elizabeth's post about the little boy and the heart surgeon also has brought this question of what the purpose of it all has been. Perhaps this is little bit of a revelation and perhaps it is simply encouragement that there is a purpose to it all, whichever, it certainly has me looking forward to His return and has brought joy back into my heart. Thank you, girl, for being such a true and faithful sister and friend.

Love ya,
Cecilia

Being a Kid Nov 13, 2006 3:20 am

I was reading a post on araesque's blog the other day Personal Journal 51106 where he talked about how the worship services used to be when he was younger. When they lasted for up to an hour, not just singing a few songs then it was over. He said something about them being more "complicated" these days so that one was prevented from being lost in the presence of the Lord.

That post really spoke to me and made me think back to when I was a little girl. I've always loved to sing to the Lord. I grew up in the Assembly of God church, very charismatic as you all may or may not know. We are some of those known as "Holy Rollers". I don't know if the term came from the fact that we dance in the Spirit and were compared to the new Rock and Roll movement back then or if it came from being slain in the Spirit and folks think we are nuts because we are, what they consider, just rolling around on the floor. And to be quite honest, I really don't care where the term came from. Many find the title derogatory and are still offended, but not me. I wear it like a badge of honor, just like I wear the title of Christian. I know that over the centuries it too has been used by others as what they perceive to be slur to our character.

Anyway, back to what I was saying. I started singing in, I guess you would call it the children's choir, we called it the booster band, as soon as I was big enough to walk out with the other children every Sunday morning and "make a joyful noise". We did several chidren's songs each Sunday as part of the worship service before joining our families in the pews. That was back in the days when children sat under the word right along with the rest of the congregation.

During the rest of worship service we children joined in as well, learning the old standards by heart quite early because we sang them regularly. Sometimes we misunderstood what was being said because our vocabulary was limited but somehow, a childs mind makes connections that you would hardly think possible. Which brings me at last to the point of this post. Thought I'd never get here didn't you?

Do any of you remember the song "Bringing In The Sheaves"? The chorus went like this:

Bringing in the sheaves
Bringing in the sheaves
We shall come rejoicing
Bringing in the sheaves
(repeat)

Well, I remember this song from when I was little but I didn't know anything about no sheaves, so in my young mind I thought we were bringing in the "sheeps", and that is the way that I sang it for many, many years.

The thing is that, except for the fact that it is grammatically incorrect, it works. Knowing about Jesus, the Good Shepard, the lost lambs, I knew at that young age (3 or 4 years old, I would guess), that Christians were supposed help to bring in the lost sheep and my mind filled in a word that worked, was in context.

So, if you have very young children or grandchildren, don't make the mistake of thinking that they are too young to learn about God, that He can't reach them, because He can, and He does. Don't wait to get them under the word, it's never too early. If your church has a nursery service and they don't pipe in what is happening in the service to that nursery, then take your children to the service with you. Yes, I know that may be harder for you to hear and concentrate on what is being said. Yes, I know that others may complain about your child making noise or moving around. If your church absolutely forbids it, find another church. The eternal destiny of your childs soul may rest upon it!!!!

Mt 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Mr 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Lu 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Would You Rejoice with Me? Nov 11, 2006 10:34 am
Mood: 56, 242 Views
After all the controversy I have stirred up lately you guys may prefer to tar and feather me rather than to rejoice with me and if that is the case then I really don't blame you at all.

But in an effort to remind you that I really am a nice person even though I seem to have foot in mouth disease lately (the human version of hoof in mouth) I thought I would share some good news that I have gotten this past few days.

First, as you that really know me know, I am a poet and I have entered my poem After The Rain in the competition at poetry(.)com and the International Library of Poetry. And I have received notification that it has been chosen as one of the finalist in the 2006 competition. This means that it will be published in the anthology that they will put out for this year. This will be the second time that I have been published by them as I was also a finalist in 2001 under my former name of Morris with a poem titled "United We Fight".

I also received in the mail, just yesterday, a certificate for this poem. It is an "Editor's Choice Award" for outstanding Achievement in Poetry.

To top all of this off, I also received an e-mail from these folks saying that I have been chosen to participate in another anthology, The International Who's Who In Poetry. It says, in part:

"Congratulations on your accomplishment, Cecilia. This is an extraordinary honor. The International Who's Who in Poetry will be among the finest quality and most interesting books we have ever produced, and poets from several nations around the world will be featured. Each poem published will be exhibited on a page by itself. Every aspect and design of this anthology will display an uncompromising level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. This coffee-table quality book will be printed in two colors on fine milled paper, and it will feature a highly detailed, ornate cover and quality typography throughout. It will make a handsome addition to any library, a treasured family keepsake, or a highly valued personal gift."

"WIN A TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C.

We are conducting a special contest only for participants in this project with over $5,000 in prizes to be awarded, including a trip for two to Washington, D.C. While in our nation's capital, the winner of this very special contest will then have the honor of representing The International Library of Poetry and will be interviewed by Professor Grace Cavalieri as the featured guest on her national radio show, The Poet and The Poem. Additional runner-up winners will be selected to appear live on the broadcast via a telephone interview. Just think . . . you could be recognized as a leading poet to perhaps millions of people around the nation.
"

"Before going any further, Cecilia, let me make one thing clear . . . you were selected for inclusion in this project based on your unique talent and previous poetic accomplishments. We believe you are one of the most interesting poets we have encountered, so we are offering you the chance to be published in this special edition."

"Cecilia, PLEASE SEND US YOUR POEM RIGHT AWAY!"

"In order for our editors to meet our scheduled publication date and pick the winning poets and poems, WE MUST RECEIVE YOUR POEM RIGHT AWAY. Be sure you include your name, mailing address, and your poem. Your poem may be 24 lines or less, on any subject, and in any style."

"Congratulations on your selection for your inclusion as a distinguished member of The International Who's Who in Poetry and a participant in this unique poetry project. We look forward to seeing more of your work."

Sincerely,

Howard Ely
Managing Editor

"P.S. Cecilia, you should be genuinely proud of your accomplishment. You have been nominated to participate in The International Who's Who in Poetry because of your poetic accomplishments. We are pleased that an entire page of this historic edition will be dedicated exclusively to you and your poetry."

So, I submitted my poem I Met A Man to be included in this anthology. I am really pleased that my poems have received this recognition and would like you all to rejoice with me in this.

I would also like to request that you pray for me concerning the competitions as I am now entered into 2 of them, one has $10,000 in prizes, the other $5000 with one being a trip to D.C. for a radio interview.

Most of you know that I live on a limited income and that my truck has been out of commission since July, so I could truly use this blessing if it is within the Lord's will for me. I also used to live quite near D.C. and would absolutely love to go back there especially since they now have an Native Peoples Museum at the Smithsonian that I am longing to visit.

Pete, I just saw this Descriptionand I wanted to respond.

I too do all that I can.

When my truck is running I provide transportation for those who don't have any to wherever they need to go.

I go to visit older ladies who are handicapped and help with chores and personal hygiene things they need done as often as I am able to do so. I also go shopping for them, using their vehicles when they need for me to do so, if my truck is not running.

I find it so sad that those like you and I who are disabled/handicapped ourselves, living on next to nothing, are the ones who are doing this type of service for the Lord while the able-bodied and financially stable seem to sit back in their easy chairs without lifting a finger. Perhaps it is simply because we know what it is to be in this situation, the loneliness, the despair, the feelings of worthlessness and being no longer needed, wanted, useful.

To those of you who wish to do something about this problem, please DO NOT raise money and hand it over to someone else to "take care of the problem". Get out there and do something about it yourselves. Set aside some time to make a difference in someone's life in your community.

This is what I believe our dear brother was trying to get across. This throwing money at the problem has been the problem all along. money cannot show these people love, money cannot provide these people with a little time to have someone to talk to. money cannot be in relationship with these people. And these are the things that these folks need. To know that someone cares enough to take the time.

God Bless you dear brother, for your sacrifices to our Lord.

First, I want to apologize if any of you thought that the first part of my post Wolves in Sheeps Clothing pertained to you. It did not, but was about someone in the profiles only.

Secondly, I would ask you all to please come and read the above mentioned post and the comments that have been made there.

I would really appreciate your comments, thoughts, wisdom, whatever concerning this matter. I honestly believe that there are a lot of fears that we could all work together to eliminate through discussion and prayer with one another.

Would you please join us there?
