Rebirth Of The Phoenix

The phoenix was supposedly a bird that, when it died, rose again from it's ashes, or a new phoenix was born from the ashes. This was used to symbolize Christ and the resurrection in early Christian art.

"The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — a symbol of fire and divinity." Wikipedia This makes me think of the regeneration that God does in our lives, the healing of the hurts and wounds we suffer from the enemy of our souls. It also makes me think of the fact that through Him we have the promise of eternal life. That is not the same thing a immortality as immortality is of the flesh, not the spirit. But it does mean that we will live forever, with Him!

It also speaks to me of the verse Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Then too, it was supposedly a bird with gold and red plumes which goes right along with my current handle of redbird.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Dec 29, 2007 5:19 pm
Mood: hopeful, 246 Views

I know that sometimes I seem to dwell on the negative but I truly do count my blessings, every day, and there are so very, very many of them!!!

I rejoice in knowing that God does not sleep nor slumber, that He is ever aware of each and every one of us, of our needs, of all the things and people in our lives that burden our hearts and minds!

These things are written on the palm of His hand and are always before His eyes, never forgotten.

Our prayers are before Him day and night, they are a sweet incense that fill His nostrils at all times.

His ear is never turned away. He hears our every cry. His smile shines forth with the sound of our thanksgiving.

His arms are strong to hold us up when we become weak and weary. His sleeves are wet with our tears as His cheeks are wet with His own sorrow and compassion.

His legs and feet are swift to run to us when we are in need of Him and we call upon His name. They dance with us when by His grace and strength we are triumphant.

How glorious is our God! How magnificent is His name! How wonderful is His love for us!

Truly, what is there that He cannot do?????

This coming year, may all of us know a growth in Him that is beyond explanation, beyond all that we ever hoped or dreamed of. May we all stretch ourselves outward toward Him and allow Him to use us in miraculous and marvelous ways.

God Bless each of you and have a Happy and Blessed New Year!!!!!!

Bible Software Dec 29, 2007 3:32 pm
Mood: confident, 191 Views

I really went out on a limb this year and bought myself a Christmas present. For years I have been using the downloadable version of a Bible software program that I just love. The downloadable version is only good for 30 days but if you really can't afford to purchase the full version and write to the guy who, I guess, wrote the program, he will send you a code that will make the downloadable version permanent.

Anyway, I have satisfied myself with that version, a very limited one, for a long, long time. Years in fact. But this year I splurged and bought the complete version for myself.

AND I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I really couldn't afford it according to the world's standards and paying bills and such may be tight for a while. But my Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills and I know that He can and will make all things possible.

So please be in prayer with and for me about my financial situation, please.

Recently my very best friend here where I live joined BC and though he has as yet not visited the blogs I would really appreciate it if any of you who feel so inclined would go to his page and send him an e-mail. [2bdvoted]

I spent Christmas day with he and his son. Otherwise I would have been alone. The same for Thanksgiving. He is more family to me than my own family is.

These past four years I really don't know what I would have done if it weren't for this guy. After my last back surgery he cooked and brought me meals every day. He helped me move when I moved here and again a few months ago when I had to move out of my apartment. Since my truck has been broken down he and another friend have provided me with transportation to do my shopping, to doctor's appointments and what have you.

Christmas Poem Dec 22, 2007 8:33 am
Mood: victorious, 178 Views

Another little article from the Buffalo Gap newspaper, December 2007 issue, Vol. XII, No. 7, submitted by P Lacey of Bellville, Ohio.

'Twas the month before Christmas
When all thorough the land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

See the PC Police
Had taken away
The reason for Christmas-
No one could say.

The children were told
By their schools not to sing
About Shephers and Wise Men
And Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings,
The teachers would say.
December 25th
Is just a "Holiday".

Yet the shopers were ready
With cash, checks and credit.
Pushing folks down
To the floor just to get it.

CD's from Madonna,
An X BOX, an I-pod.
Something was changing,
Something quite odd!

Retailers promoted
Ramadan and Kwanzaa.
In hope to sell books
By Franken and Fonda.

As Target were hanging
Their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas-
Was nowhere to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples
And Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas;
It won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive
Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used
To intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden,
Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, On Rather
On Kerry, On Clinton!

At the top of the Senate,
There arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus,
In all public matter.

And we spoke not a word,
As they took away our faith.
Forbidden to speak
Of Salvation and Grace.

The true Gift of Christmas
Was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season,
Stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate
"Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks,
Listen to me.

Choose your words carefully,
Choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday

Texas Soldier Dec 21, 2007 11:13 pm

Another little one from the Buffalo Gap paper, December 2007 issue, Vol XII, No. 7, submitted by Adrian LeLoche

A large group of Iraqi soldiers are moving down a road when they hear a voice call from behind a sand dune: "One Texas soldier is better than ten Iraqi".

The Iraqi commander quickly orders 10 of his best men over the dune whereupon a gun battle breaks out and continues for a few inutes, the silence.

The voice once again calls out: "One Texan is better than one hundren Iraqi."

Furious the Iraqi commander sends his next best 100 troops over the dune and instantly a huge gun fight commences. After 10 minutes of battle, again silence.

The Texas voice calls out again: "One Texan is better than one thousand Iraqi."

The enraged Iraqi commander musters 1000 fighters and sends them to the other side of the dune. Rifle fire, machine guns, grenades, rockets and cannon fire ring out as a terrible battle is fought . . . . Then silence.

Eventually one badly wounded Iraqi fighter crawls back over the dune and with his dying words tells his commander, "Don't send any more men . . . it's a trap. There's two of them."

Why Can't America Do This? Dec 21, 2007 7:17 pm
Mood: courageous, 153 Views

The following article was published in a little newspaper from a small town called Buffalo Gap near where I live. It was printed in the December 2007 issue, Vol. XII, No. 7., submitted by Kim Harris of Abilene, Tx.

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremist would face a crackdown.

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and its laws were made by parliment. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia, one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false.

If you can't agree with parlimentary law, independent courts, democracy and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to other country which pratices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option," Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possible be asked to move to the other country.

Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told re porters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off." "Basically, people wo don't want to be Australians, and they don't want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then they can basically clear off," he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Additional Comments:
IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.

However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of Australia being a mult-cultural community has served to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.

If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like 'A Fair Go', then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE!

All I can add is Way to go Aussie's and AMEN!!!!!

I'M BACK! Once Again Dec 21, 2007 6:43 pm
Mood: hopeful, 194 Views

Well, every one, I am once again on-line and doing better, somewhat.

I was semi-evicted from my apartment the end of September and was able to talk my mother into allowing me to move into the empty house she owns here in the town where I live, for a while anyway. Although she is already chomping at the bit to get me out I believe that I will be able to convince her to let me stay for a while. Please keep this matter in your prayers.

Although I was made to move from my apartment they were not allowed to formally evict me which would have prevented me from living in any govenment sponsered housing for 3 years. However, due to Homeland Security I have to be able to go in person to apply for any housing and I am unable to do that due to the fact that I currently have no transportation. The transmission went out on my pick-up a week after I got it running, (new spark plugs and wires were all it needed) had it inspected and got it registered and insured. Can you believe it?

Despite it all I am still alive and kicking and God is good, Amen? I have managed to get back on-line and can once again be in touch with all of you, whom I love dearly, and who I know have kept me in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all so very much for your love and compassion.

Hello, everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I am still holding on and am still standing!!!! Just yesterday a couple of us got a good deal of documentation on it's way to the DA's office concerning some of the criminal activities that have been going on within the Housing Authority here where I live. It still looks as though they intend to take me before the JP but I have been getting a lot of assurance from the Lord, His word and folks around here that they have about the same chances of kicking me out as a snowball has of surviving in that hot place where our enemy lives. Again I want to thank you all for your prayers and support. Just knowing that you are all out there rooting for me helps tremendously.

My B-day was a few weeks ago and the Lord really blessed me there as well as I received some financial gifts from some of my family, getting me back in the black. There is a good chance that I will be able to get my phone turned back on and get my internet back as well this next month. Please keep this in your prayers as well. This past year without a phone and internet access has been difficult, especially as it has meant being unable to communicate with all of you like I did before.

Remember that my love and prayers are with you all.

I have been told I have to be out by August 10th but upon further research have found that if I am not out at that time they MUST take the case before the JP here. Their "reasons" have to do with my dog mostly, they claim that I do not clean up after him. But the truth of the matter is that I was threatened 2 1/2 years ago by the head maintenance man because he assumed I was making a complaint against him when I wasn't. After he threatened me I certainly did make a complaint and he and the powers that be at the housing authority have been giving me problems ever since. They don't show up for inspections as scheduled then claim that I did not allow them in. They claim that I have "hindered" them from performing their jobs. Between myself and several others we have proof in various forms that these folks are breaking every rule in the book but have as yet been unable to get HUD, FHA or anyone else to investigate. The problem is with them not me and we will see how the JP handles it. It is my understanding that he is a wonderful Christian man. I feel more encouraged. Please continue to keep me in your prayers and thank you all for your support. It is so wonderful to know that even when I feel the most alone you are all out there lifting me up to our Father, undergirding me with your love, support and prayers.

One thing about it all, we are told that God works all things for our good, well, I've lost about 15 pounds in the past month and a half since this whole thing started up again. Praise the Lord!!!!

Please Pray For Me!!!!! Jul 7, 2007 8:54 am
Mood: Mixed, 375 Views
I am being evicted from my apartment! I and others here have been being harassed, threatened, discriminated against and various other things for many years. This has been going on since before I moved here. I do not know where I will go or how I will manage but these events have been going on with me for over 2 1/2 years despite my having contacted multiple government agencies who are supposed to protect citizens from these types of occurrences. I will, no doubt, try and find somewhere to store what little I have, including my pick-up as it is still not running and go where ever the Lord leads me by whatever means I can. I am not able to turn to many of my family members for various reasons (either they cannot assist, will not assist me, or would assist me only if I sold them my soul)and others I am not sure of. Please, keep me in your prayers and I will try to keep in touch as best as I can by visiting libraries, etc.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no grapes on the vines, thought he olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the lor. I will be joyful in God my Savior.. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer" NIV
