Rebirth Of The Phoenix

The phoenix was supposedly a bird that, when it died, rose again from it's ashes, or a new phoenix was born from the ashes. This was used to symbolize Christ and the resurrection in early Christian art.

"The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — a symbol of fire and divinity." Wikipedia This makes me think of the regeneration that God does in our lives, the healing of the hurts and wounds we suffer from the enemy of our souls. It also makes me think of the fact that through Him we have the promise of eternal life. That is not the same thing a immortality as immortality is of the flesh, not the spirit. But it does mean that we will live forever, with Him!

It also speaks to me of the verse Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Then too, it was supposedly a bird with gold and red plumes which goes right along with my current handle of redbird.

Proud American Jun 30, 2006 6:32 pm

This coming week we celebrate our country's independence. I am so proud to be an American I cannot find the words to express it.

I am also so very grateful to God that I am an American. I have lived in two foreign countries in my life, Iran and Japan. I have seen for myself the differences between the freedoms that we take for granted here and those that people of other countries are not blessed with.

We American women need especially to be grateful for all the blessings that God has bestowed upon us. For there are few places on this earth were our sisters are even viewed as more than possessions.

We have the distinct privilege of being able to speak up and be heard when it comes to how things will go in our homes, our communities, our states and our country. And as Christians we have an obligation to ourselves, our families, our nation, our world and our God to make our voices heard.

I encourage any and all of you, that may have been complacent in the past, to do your civic and moral duty by adding your voice to that of your brothers and sisters across this great nation. Only by uniting and stepping forward can we dam the tide of immorality that has inundated our country and infiltrated our homes.

Our children need you, my grandchildren need you, to protect and defend what remains of the inheritance that we have received and to recover that which we have lost to the enemy.

May God bless and keep each and every one of you over this holiday, may He make His light to shine upon you and May God Bless America!!

Suicide, Thoughts Jun 27, 2006 7:04 pm
Mood: 18, 232 Views
There was a post recently on the advice line concerning suicide. Having been, in the past, so desperate, lonely and in despair and have attempted suicide on more than one occasion myself I posted a reply/replies.

I believe that as a Christian, whatever we have on our minds the Holy Spirit speaks to us concerning that subject. Especially if we are seeking wisdom concerning it.

I awoke this morning with some powerful thoughts concerning this subject. I would like to share them with you and to get your take on them. Please remember, above all that these are my thoughts, NOT GOD'S, and that if you disagree with any of the conclusions here, that's okay. Seek God yourself, always, for man is imperfect and try though we may to help one another, we don't always get it right. We too are on the journey that you are on and have not reached our destination.

Can a Christian commit suicide? Contemplate it, yes and attempt it as well, but can a true child of God be successful in their attempts? Or does God prevent them from succeeding?

Is this one of the many blessings we have in Him? That even we cannot take ourselves from His hands? (John 10:28-29)

Is this one way that He confirms salvation for His children when they are in pain and lose faith? One way that He shows us that we are truly His and the promise of eternal life is truly ours?

Is this one way that He reassures us that things are not as bad as they seem, that we are not as alone as we feel? For He is still will us and still in control.

When we feel that we are even failures at being failures, that we cannot even get wrong, right, is He in His Almighty wisdom trying to reveal to us that the problem is that we have right, wrong? That our vision is skewed and we are not seeing the truth? That perhaps someone has misrepresented to us who we are and who He is?

I know what these questions have led me to believe. I hope that they will help someone to find the answers that they are seeking either for themselves or to help someone else.

God Bless and Keep You All.
With love, your sister, Cecilia

I also plan on sharing what I feel the Lord has revealed to me through His word and by the Spirit in my lifetime. I plan to share those things that I think about our home and the future we will share there.

What a glorious journey we have undertaken and it is a privilege to be able to join together as we travel, sharing each others joys and sorrows, bearing each others burdens, uplifting one another.

As we each run our own race we have the benefit of learning from those more experienced than we and the indescribable honor of being tools in the hands of our Lord to teach those less experienced.

How unworthy we are but how joyous that He has made us worthy. I ask that your prayers be with me that each word I place here will bring glory and honor to His name.

I've just read all of the posts from you other bloggers (is that the right term?) concerning my first post. I want to tell you just how deeply each of them has touched me.

It has been a very long time since I have felt so welcomed by my brothers and sisters as I have here at BC. I can hardly see to type for the tears in my eyes right now.

It is so strange to me to find God here on the internet, and Godly people to boot. I feel such a warmth of fellowship as I sit here at my computer. It is a such glorious feeling and I thank each and every one of you and pray blessings upon you.

I'm new to this so I hope that you will all be patient with me.

I've spent the last few days just wandering around the site and checking things out. I've put my 2 cents worth in where I thought I might be able to be of some benefit. I know some folks don't agree with some of the things I've said but that isn't all that important because what I say isn't the main thing. What God says in His word and in our hearts and minds through the Holy Spirit is the primary thing that each of us have to depend on.

I've experienced a lot of different things in my lifetime and I guess that these are the things that I want to share on these pages. I'll be talking about those things or sharing a song or poem I've written about the things I've seen, done or been through.

I suppose my main reason for sharing these things is so people will be able to know and understand that I have been in some of the same places that they are right now. I have felt some of the same pain, been through some of the same heartaches, struggled through some of the same valleys, battled some of the same demons.

I hope that anyone who visits here will feel free to seek me out if they need someone to talk to. Sometimes just having someone who has been in the same boat to lean on can mean the difference between victory and defeat, sometimes quite literally it can mean the difference between life and death.

My prayer is that God will bless each and every word that I say here and that He will use this space for His edification and glory.
