Rebirth Of The Phoenix

The phoenix was supposedly a bird that, when it died, rose again from it's ashes, or a new phoenix was born from the ashes. This was used to symbolize Christ and the resurrection in early Christian art.

"The bird was also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, thus being almost immortal and invincible — a symbol of fire and divinity." Wikipedia This makes me think of the regeneration that God does in our lives, the healing of the hurts and wounds we suffer from the enemy of our souls. It also makes me think of the fact that through Him we have the promise of eternal life. That is not the same thing a immortality as immortality is of the flesh, not the spirit. But it does mean that we will live forever, with Him!

It also speaks to me of the verse Isaiah 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Then too, it was supposedly a bird with gold and red plumes which goes right along with my current handle of redbird.

Do You Agree? Sep 15, 2006 11:35 am

This is a quote from a personal friend of mine with which I agree. If we have these five in common then we are family and the rest is what is generally argued over.

"There are 5 "drop dead" things we must agree on.

1) The Virgin Birth.
2) Jesus' Sinless Life.
3) His Redeeming Death.
4) His Bodily Resurrection.
5) The Bible as the Full Word of God to Us.

Outside of these five we have many differences of opinion. True seekers won't let those get in the way of doing Kingdom work, reaching the lost and caring for the Body."

A Texas redneck was stopped by a game warden in East Texas recently with two ice chests full of live fish in water, leaving a river well known for its fishing.

The game warden asked the man, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?"

"Naw, my friend, I ain't got no license. These here are my pet fish."

"Pet fish?"

"Yep. Every night I take these fish down to the river and let 'em swim round for a while. Then I whistle and they jump right back into this ice chest and I take 'em home."

"That's a bunch of BS! Fish can't do that!"

The redneck looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, "It's the truth. I'll show you. It really works."

"Okay, I've GOT to see this!"

The redneck poured the fish into the river and stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, "Well?"

"Well, what?" said the redneck.

"When are you going to call them back?"

"Call who back?"

"The FISH!"

"What fish?"

We in Texas may not be as smart as some, but we ain't as dumb as most.

You smart ones have a good day.

The Wisdom Of Will Rogers

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman. Neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.

8. There are three kinds of men. The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

9. Good jugment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

10. If you're riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.

11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

12. AND FINALLY: After eating an entire bull, a moutain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him.

The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

Lost Loved Ones Sep 13, 2006 10:06 am

Elizabeth (Rebekka) has a post on her blog concerning praying for our lost loved ones. I know that each of us prays for our own but I would suggest that we should join in one accord to stand in agreement for one another's lost loved ones. Perhaps many of us already do this, but I just wanted to bring this to everyone's awareness so that we inundate the throne of God with prayers for all our unsaved friends and family. We have an awesome platform here at BC for doing God's work if we will but use it.

Lest We Forget Sep 11, 2006 5:29 pm
Mood: 18, 163 Views
I had slept in that morning, my son-in-law having gotten up and taken the grandbabies to school and my daughter to work. My sister, a truck driver at the time, had called the night before saying she was up in New England and had been given a load into New York City for the next day. My son-in-law came into the room to awaken me and tell me that my daughter was on the phone for me. She was crying and told me to go turn on the television.

I was stunned to say the least and instantly concerned for my sister's well-being. I received a call from my neice as well but apparently the news of what was going on had completely blocked from everyone else's mind the fact that my sister was supposed to be in New York City. I kept trying to get a call through to her cell phone but it was futile. Neither her daughter or mine said anything about it. I prayed that God would not let them remember until I could find out if she was alright.

I sat like a statue in front of the television, in shock and crying. Praying for our country, praying for our leaders, praying for those we had lost and their families, praying for those who were working so diligently to find and rescue the survivors, praying for our military for I knew that we could not, should not, would not let this pass.

It was late that afternoon before I finally heard from my sister. She had refused the load going into NYC the night before as she was a solo driver and there were male team drivers who wouldn't go into the city. She was still very near the sites however, actually within the triangle of the three, closest to the Pennsylvania crash site. She was headed south, dropping her load and coming into the Dallas terminal and turning in her truck. The entire incident was more than she could handle and she was coming off the road. I just thanked God that she was alive and safe.

I realize that many are against the actions our government has taken since that day 5 years ago. But I cannot help but ask, what do they think it would be like if we hadn't done what we have done? Do they really think it would have stopped there? Would they prefer that the war had been brought to us and we had more of the same to contend with? What we witnessed on that horrible day is nothing compared to what we would have witnessed and may still witness if war ever comes to this country. The mass destruction and murder of American's and America is what these people seek.

I love my country, we have more than any other country in this world in the way of freedom. But those very freedoms are now being turned to the detriment of the country that bestows it. If we, as a people continue to abuse these, our freedoms, then there will be no America to pass on to our decendents. This proud heritage that was left to us by our forefathers, placed into our hands for safekeeping, is now our responsibility.

What will we do with it?

Don't Talk About My Children Sep 11, 2006 1:02 pm

Well the rumors going round the church about one of the members
And it's a juicy bit of gossip from the sound
Well don't you listen to it and don't you dare repeat it,
'Cause it's already spread all over town.
I've done told you that you'll give account to me someday
For every single idle word you say
For by your words your justified and by your words you'll be condemned
Don't talk about my children that a way.

Chorus
Don't you talk about my children that a way
None are perfect so be careful what you say
Just remember that I made you all
And sent my son if you'll recall
And for each other I said you should pray
So don't talk about my children that a way

Well I know you disagree on what I've told you in My Word
And now you're fighting with the family.
Why is it you can't understand that your ways they just ain't my ways
And none of you know all there is of Me?
I've got a work for you to do and then there's one for other's too
And each one must my voice hear and obey.
I speak to each the things I choose, it's not for you them to abuse
Don't talk about my children that a way.

Forgive Me Sep 9, 2006 8:47 am
Mood: 56, 224 Views
I ask simply that if I have done anything to any of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that has caused you pain or hurt, caused you to be angry, caused you to stumble, caused you to disbelieve in any way, shape or form, to please forgive me.

It is ever my intent to edify, to lift up and to simply share my thoughts and beliefs. But I am only human, subject to error. I do not know all that God will one day reveal to us all. That is why I always ask, that anything I say be taken directly to the Word and by the Holy Spirit, confirmed by each person individually.

My love for each of you is all I have to offer. And even that is not perfect but I give it nonetheless in return for all the love that I receive here from all of you.

I ask God's blessing's on each and every one of you and that He continue to use you for the furtherance of His work. I pray that we all will continue to grow and learn from one another here at BC and become as one, a family of believers empowered by Him to do a mighty work in our world.

I’m Just An Old Country Girl Sep 8, 2006 8:53 pm

I’m just an old country girl
Never wanted much from this old world.
The grass is so cool and green and sweet
So soothing on this two tired old feet
I can’t say the same for a golden street.
But I’m just an old country girl

I’m just an old country girl
Don’t care too much ‘bout things of this world
I'd love an old cabin down by the sea
A lake or a river that's running free.
A big old mansion’s too grand for me
‘Cause I’m just an old country girl.

I know you have plans inside your mind
Plans of a very special kind
Of all kinds of wonderful things for me
Rewards for being what you want me to be
Beauty that no eye on this earth has seen
But I’m just an old country girl

So maybe you’ll meet this one request
And I promise that I will do my best
Just set aside one little corner for me
A place like you meant for this old world to be
With all of the critters you made running free
‘Cause I’m just an old country girl

If you think I’ve earned any jewels or crowns
Please keep them to place upon your brow
I don’t wear them in this world today
They’re just a nuisance that get in my way
I really don’t know what more can I say
But I’m just an old country girl.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF A TONGUE Sep 8, 2006 12:30 pm

How many of us are quick to spout off the first thing that comes to our minds?

How many of us think that we have the truth and are dead set to defend it no matter the consequences?

How many of us do not bother to stop and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit before putting in our two cents, storming forward to defend what we believe with righteous indignation as our battle cry?

Perhaps a read of the following post will cool your blood-thirst.

Bite Your Tongue, Rather Than
