Ed's Mom Is Fine!!!!!!!!!!!! Jun 2, 2006 6:27 am
Mood: ecstatic, 610 Views
Hallelujah! Ed's Mom is completely well again! What a miracle! She is completely coherent. She is feeding herself. She is up walking again. The Lord is to be praised! They no longer are thinking of sending her to the Psych Unit and then a nursing home. She is scheduled to go home on Monday, if all goes well. Praise the Lord!

Thank you all so much for praying and for doing spiritual battle for us. Things would not be going so well if you hadn't been holding our arms up through prayer.

The Lord has shown us that their will be more battles to come and that they will get worse, but we are ready now. This one caught me a little off guard. It took me a while to get into the eye of the storm, where I can just crawl up on the Lord's lap and let the storm rage around me while I rest peacefully in His arms, but I finally got there. I am ready for the next one now. I made the mistake in thinking that the enemy would allow me a short honeymoon period since I just got married. How silly of me to let my guard down like that. But the Lord is still faithful, even we make mistakes and miscalculate. Isn't that wonderful?! I love Him so much!

Well, thank you all again! Be assured that we love and appreciate each of you!

I met a woman from here this morning. I had never even seen her blog or any of her comments before. It is so easy with all of the people who post here to miss someone special, but I am so glad that I finally got to meet River Mercy.

The Lord awakened her way out in California a few days ago, this woman I had never heard of, and told her that my headaches were being caused by a demonic attack and had her do spiritual warfare for me. That was about the same time that I commanded the spirit of pain to leave me and it did. The Lord is so good.

Anyway, I took the time right now to go and read her blog entries. This woman has some things to say! I would like to just mention her to all of you in case you would like to meet this wonderful woman of God, too. Her blog is RiverMercy.

Enjoy!

Off-Colored Language May 29, 2006 7:08 pm

Do you think it is okay to use bad language as a Christian? I think that it grieves the Holy Spirit when we do, but so many Christians do that I am confused. What do you think? Which words are okay and which ones aren't? I am not trying to be ignorant here. I really want to know. Any opinions would be very welcome. Thanks!
All off-colored language is off limits for Christians.
God isn't particularly concerned about the words we use.
Some are permitted and some aren't. (Please explain)

First of all, I would like to thank all of you who have been praying for Ed and me. I really appreciate each one of you. Here is the latest:

We were given miss information about Crystal's situation. The blockage in her (Ed's mom) carotid artery is not bad enough to have caused her problems. She did not have a stroke and she is getting sufficient blood to her brain. Her bladder infection has been treated, so that is not causing the problems either. However, she is still the same.

The doctor thinks that she has had a nervous breakdown. He can find no physical explanation for what is going on here. There are many factors which could have contributed to this but it is of no benefit to go into them on a public forum such as this. For those of you who really want to pray about this, email me and I will give you details.

The doctor is recommending that she go to a geriatric mental facility. It is a short-term one. Ed, as the oldest, must make the decision on what to do, and he has decided to follow the doctor's advice. There are really no other options other than to put her into a nursing home and let her vegetate, which no one wants to see.

Now for the spiritual side of this. The Indian Mission here in Hobart was basically shut down when Ed came here six months ago. He believes that the Lord has told him that the Kiowa Indians who believe in the old way, perhaps a Medicine Doctor even, may be trying to come against the work here. They are seeing resurrection here of the work and they are not happy. So, this is an absolute attack from the enemy, Ed believes. We will not allow the enemy to have the victory here. Please hold us up in prayer to remain strong in the Lord in this resolve.

I never thought that I would be thrust into the middle of such an intense spiritual battle the week that I arrived here. I have been used in spiritual battles many times, but I must admit that I was hoping for at least a brief honeymoon before I had to go back to the battlefield. Oh well, that was not to be. The Lord has been training me for a long time for this kind of battle, so I am up to the task in Him. He has taught me well to totally rely upon Him for everything, so all will be well.

Ed and I are doing well in spite of the storm raging around us. Thank God! We are praying several times a day together and by ourselves. Please pray that we keep our eyes upon the Lord and that we keep the lines of communication open between us so that we do not start attacking each other.

Sorry this is so long. I just had to bear what is on my heart. I need support desperately! I know I can count on people here to give it to me!

Be blessed, each of you!

Update on Ed's Mom May 25, 2006 12:38 pm
Mood: anxious, 939 Views
Well, things are worse again with Ed's Mom. She took another turn for the worse yesterday. They discovered that one of her carotid arteries is almost entirely blocked, so the blood is not getting to part of her brain. They are trying to give her blood thinners to see if that helps. Her overall health is not good, and they do not want to do surgery unless it is as a last resort.

Please keep her, Crystal, and the whole Elford family in your prayers. This is hard on everyone.

Thank you all in advance. You are the best! It is so wonderful to have a place where brothers and sisters hold each other up like this. I want you to know that I pray for every prayer request that I see here, too. I think that is so very important.

I will keep you updated.

Be blessed!

Update on Ed's Mom May 24, 2006 9:46 am
Mood: happy, 795 Views
We just got back from the hospital. Ed's mom is doing much better today. Thank you all so much for your prayers. She is still saying a few strange things, but she is speaking sense most of the time. The doctor gave her alot of sedatives yesterday, so Ed is hoping once she sleeps those off that she will be back to normal.

The doctor is not sure what caused her confusion and delusional state yesterday. They are treating her for an UTI, so he thought that could have caused it. He has ruled out stroke, heart attack and Systemic staph infection. Hallelujah! All of the biggies are out of the picture.

Ed and I really believe that the enemy is pulling out all of the stops on us here. We did alot of deliverance with his mom yesterday evening, so we think that really helped, too.

Thank you all for your prayers. I don't think she would be doing so well today if you all hadn't prayed for her. Prayer does work! Thank you all for your faithfulness! I love you!

Be blessed!

Calling All Prayer Warriors!!!!! Please Pray!!!!! May 23, 2006 2:29 pm
Mood: exhausted, 763 Views
If any of you know spiritual warfare will you please do some on our behalf?

Ed's mother was taken to the hospital this morning. We are not sure what is wrong, but she is not doing well. She is very confused, disoriented and delusional. She may have had a mild stroke, but the results of the CTScan are not back yet.

The enemy is coming in like a flood, but the Lord has promised to raise up a standard against him. Please help us to fight against this. Please hold up our weary arms here so that the victory will be ours.

This is further comfirmation to us that the Lord has great things in store for Ed and me. The enemy doesn't attack like this unless he is trying to stop a powerful work of God from taking place. We remain steadfast in our faith and total reliance upon the Lord. Please hold us up in prayer so that we can remain strong in the power of His might.

Thank you all in advance for your prayers! Be ever so blessed, in Jesus' name!

Please Pray for Me! May 21, 2006 7:57 pm

Well, you have to know that as soon as God starts to do something in your life that the enemy will come against you in some way. I have been having really bad headaches for the past three weeks. Then tonight I had one of the worst asthma attacks that I have ever had. Ed had to take me to the emergency room. It has been eight years since I had to go to the hospital because of my asthma. When I first got there my blood pressure was 160 something over 108. Not good. My blood pressure is usually like 110/60, on the low side. Please join with us in coming against the enemy in this. We refuse to give in to his taunts and schemes, in Jesus' name. Thank you very much, in advance, for your prayers! I really appreciate you all!

We're Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May 19, 2006 8:54 pm

Hurray! We have finally arrived in Hobart, Oklahoma! We got in last night!

We are done with the packing, shipping, introducing Ed to my family and friends. Now we can settle down to our new life here at the Kiowa Indian Mission here in Hobart, Oklahoma.

I am feeling a little culture shock. I am going from living in a small castle to a two-bedroom parsonage. I am going from cool Pennsylvania weather to 100 degree weather. I have no friends or family here. Through it all, though, I can feel God's peace and grace. I know that I am in the center of God's perfect will for me, so I can rest that all is under His control. I will give myself time to grieve my loses and acclimate to my new climate. I will just give myself time. It helps that God has given me a husband that is very sensitive and understanding. He is a great comfort to me. He holds me up in prayer continually as well as holding me in his arms.

We already are seeking the Lord on how He wants us to combine our ministries. Ed, of course, is a pastor. My ministry has mostly been as a counselor for women. I also have shipped all the books that the Lord had provided for me out here so that we can open a Christian library. It will be a great blessing in this rural, economically challenged area. So, the Lord will show us what to do first and how. This is His gig, so we just need to take our marching orders from Him and we will be fine.

Tomorrow we are going to a district rally where I will get to meet people from the other Indian Missions in the area along with the other pastors and their wives. I am a little nervous about that, but I am sure the Lord will give me the grace to do well.

Well, that is the update. Thanks for reading this! I am glad to be here in Hobart, finally. I will have time to do blogging again! Yea! I have missed you all. I am sorry that I have missed so much that has been said here. I will slowly get caught up, though, with commenting on your posts. Just be patient with me, okay?

Thank you all for your prayers, by the way. Everything went better than we could have hoped. God miraculously brought in money again and supplied our every need. It was amazing, and I am so grateful to Him for all He has done and how much He loves us.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Love you all! Be blessed!
