Does God Promise NOT To Give Us More Than We Can Bear? Sep 29, 2008 3:22 am
Mood: Overcoming ALL things!, 907 Views
Yes, He does!!! Hallelujah! Although, there have been many times in my life when I've felt that He pushed it right to the limits, lol.
But, I'm still here, and that's evidence that His promise is true. Check it out:

"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
I Corinthians 10:13

This Scripture teaches us a powerful principle. If we belong to Him, God will not allow any difficulty to come into our lives that we are not capable of bearing. This has given me comfort on many occasions, when I've felt I just couldn't endure a certain thing, when the pain was so intense that I thought it would kill me. Meditating on this promise gave me hope.

So, anything that comes our way, anything that tempts us, any tragedy that befalls us—we ARE capable of overcoming it and achieving spiritual victory. That does not mean it will always be easy. Quite the contrary—the fact that we may need a "way of escape" indicates that God sometimes allows difficult trials to come into our lives. We may not believe that we can overcome it, we may doubt our own strength to prevail, and we may even fail in the temptation. That does not mean, though, that we are not capable of overcoming that particular temptation. Whether it is a temptation to sin or a temptation to doubt God, God promises that we will be able to overcome it. That's very reassuring to me.

But what does it mean to "overcome" trials? It means the trials do not overcome our faith or our position as children of God, and we come through the trials intact. Our eternal destiny is not in danger because we are kept by the Holy Spirit, who was given to us as a down payment on our salvation (2 Corinthians 2:21-22). No trial can overcome that, because it is of God. Therefore, the child of God will stand firm through the trials and come out on the other side still in God’s hand. This is proof that our salvation is real and our reward in heaven awaits us. James 1:12 assures us, "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

I'm so grateful for the promises of God and the confidence of knowing I can stand upon EACH one. He has NEVER failed me and there has been exponential spiritual growth through every trial. In addition, later on, I've also been able to discover His perfect will and purpose in allowing me to suffer, and my suffering has always been a benefit to me and others in some way. So, take heart today! Whatever you are going through, God has allowed it and will use it for your good, and if you will allow it, He will use it for the good of someone else too.

So, Christian Cowboy,Will The Cowboys Win Today? lol Sep 28, 2008 8:00 am
Mood: Cheering for my teams!, 919 Views
I love football! I was raised watching football and it's one of my fav sports, second only to racing, lol. Of course, my son was raised enjoying football with me and we make $1 bets on the games every Sunday, and have for many years.
Until November every year, I'm faced with the dilema that some football games are televised while the race is on, which makes things very difficult. It is then, I'm only able to keep up with the games during commercials, and my trusty remote has a "previous channel" button on it, making it much easier to go from one to the other.

Here's my picks for today: I've got

Jacksonville Jaguars against the Houston Texans (No-brainer!)

Tampa Bay Bucs against the Green Bay Packers ( I am from Fla, ya know!)

Dallas Cowboys (Yea!!!!) against the Washington Redskins (at Dallas)

Chicago Bears against the Philadelphia Eagles

Pittsburgh Steelers against the Baltimore Ravens (Monday night)

Going into this week, I am $2 ahead of my son, we have an agreement to pay up whenever one of us gets to or exceeds $5, and believe it or not, I've collected many more $5 bills than he has! (Sometimes, I actually feel sorry for him)

For the first two games, be assured I'll be checking in during the commercials for the NASCAR race at Kansas City Speedway today. What's really a bummer is switching over to check on one of the games, and have that network in commercial too! lol
What is a girl to do?

So, tell me Christian Cowboy, will the Cowboys win again today?

Church Condemns "Crucified Frog" Sep 28, 2008 5:26 am
Mood: Shocked!, 861 Views
I was amazed to hear of this! Click on the pic to enlarge.

A sculpture of a crucified frog holding a mug of beer on display at a Bolzano museum has sparked outrage in Italy.

Reports state that local clerics and politicians want the work removed.

The one meter high work by late German artist Martin Kippenberger belongs to his Fred the Frog series and depicts a warty, pop-eyed amphibian nailed to a cross with a frothing mug of beer in one hand.

Curators at Bolzano museum of modern art Museion, said that Kippenberger's work was a self portrait of the artist "in a state of profound crisis", but their explanation has been given short shrift by local bishop Wilhelm Egger.

"The crucified frog has shocked many visitors to the Museion and has hurt their religious feelings," Egger said.

"Even if this was not the intention of the artist or the Museion, there is a law in place that says religious feelings should be respected.

Today the symbols of Christian faith are often held in contempt, and an exhibition of works like this one does not help to create peace between cultures and religions," he added.

I see this as NOT as a work of art, rather a work of blasphemy. What do you think?

Feeling Lucky??? Sep 28, 2008 4:21 am
Mood: NOT lucky, just blessed!, 834 Views
I despise the word "lucky"!

People that know me, are often irritated with my correction when they use the word "lucky". I always say, "It's not lucky, it's blessed." I DO NOT believe in luck! My motto in life is, "NOTHING that happens, happens for NOTHING". Whether situations happen naturally, or demonically, as a result of our own choices, or God-created, NOTHING can happen to us, good or bad, without His express approval. A person is NEVER "lucky" or "unlucky"

The American Heritage Dictionary defines "luck" as follows:

1. The chance happening of fortunate or adverse events. 2. Good fortune or prosperity; success....to gain success or something desirable by chance:

The main question is, do things happen by chance? If they do, then one can speak of someone being lucky or unlucky. But if they don't happen by chance, then it's inappropriate to use those terms.

God is Sovereign!

Sovereignty is His Supreme guiding and directing of our lives, He DOES have a perfect plan, after all, lol.

"The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord."
Proverbs 16:33

God’s sovereignty involves two aspects. God’s active Will or sovereignty would involve something He causes to happen such as is revealed in many places in the Bible.

God’s passive Will involves Him allowing, rather than causing, something to happen. The Book of Job clearly illustrates this in what God allowed Satan to do in the life of Job. He permitted the negative circumstances to come.

We can't always determine whether God’s active or passive Will is involved in the events of our lives, but we do know that ALL things that take place are under the umbrella of His Will, whether active or passive, and therefore nothing is a matter of mere chance. Hence, my distaste for the word "lucky".

So it is for any event of life; no matter how small or how large, God is sovereign over all and thus, NOTHING is merely the matter of chance.

From an earthly perspective, things may seem to happen at random, but throughout the whole of Scripture, it is clear that God is in control of all of His creation and is somehow able to take the random acts of natural law, the free will of both good and evil men, and the wicked intent of demons and combine them all to accomplish His good and perfect Will. And Christians, specifically, are given the promise that He works ALL things, whether seemingly good or bad, together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

So, how about you? Are YOU feeling lucky? As for me, I'm simply blessed and walking in His Will.

Think About What You're Thinking About! Sep 27, 2008 4:28 am
Mood: Thinking about Jesus!, 761 Views
Whenever I get really down, the Holy Spirit prompts me to think about the things I'm thinking about. Anything that I meditate on long enough, has the opportunity to grow into a mindset. From there, if contemplated enough, that mindset can become a stronghold. Then, we have a battle to deal with.

I used to think I was doomed to dwell on every thought that came into my mind, until I learned that's where my enemy comes against me the most. I then realized that many of the thoughts I had were just subtle attacks from the devil. You know the ones, "you're no good, you'll never amount to anything, God could never use you, no one will ever want you", blah, blah, blah.

What I learned is that my mind needed to be renewed also. Consider this:

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed, by the ENTIRE RENEWAL of your mind, by it's new ideals and it's new attitude, so that you may prove for yourselves, what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect, in His sight for you."
Romans 12:2

If we allow satan to defeat us in our minds, he can defeat us in our lives. I began to think about what I was thinking about, only to discover that NOT every thought comes from God, my mind is where the battles are won and lost.

"Refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing, that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God; and we lead EVERY THOUGHT and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ."
II Corinthians 10:5

How profound it was, when I discovered that my mind was where my enemy attacks me the most. What a revelation it was to find out that I did not have to accept the fiery darts of the devil. Yes, he may also attack my body, but it's how I perceived it in my mind that determined my victory. Yes, he may attack my finances or my loved ones, but it was how I viewed these attacks that determined the level of success I had against them.
The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness, for a journey that should have only taken 11 days, but because of their "mindset", their wilderness mentality, most did not make it into the promised land.

So, being the zealous, analytical person that I am, lol, I began to do an extensive study. First, I found the scripture in Proverbs 23: verse 7, that says, "As a man thinks, so is he, so does he become." So, how I think, establishes how I become. I can "think" myself right into a rotton mood, by contemplating the thoughts that satan puts in my mind, or I can "think" myself into a joyful mood, by contemplating the words that God gave me in His Word.

I learned that God wants us to have a new way of thinking.
"And be CONSTANTLY RENEWED in the spirit of your mind, having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude."
Ephesians 4:23

And, we have to do it "DAILY" and "CONSTANTLY". This is not something that is just going to fall on us, we have a part to do. We are told to:
"Set your minds, and keep them set, on what is above, and not on the things that are on the earth."
Colossians 3:2

If you feel depressed and sad, think about what you're thinking about, and change your focus to the things that God teaches, and "think" your way into victory.
If you feel defeated and hopeless, think about what you're thinking about, and refuse to think about past failures and the lies that satan is telling you. This is what Jesus instructs us to do:
"And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure of THOUGHT AND STUDY you give to the truth you hear, will be the measure of virtue and knowledge that comes back to you-and more besides, will be given to you who hear."
Mark 4:24

I don't know about you, but His words excite me!
We don't HAVE to think on the thoughts that satan puts into our minds to defeat us. We can CHOOSE to think on the things of God, the promises of God, and the awesome priniciples He has given us to win the battle. Remember this:

Stinkin thinkin will produce a stinkin life. Where the mind goes, the man will follow.

So today, think about what you're thinking about!

Why Are Numbers Significant In The Bible? Sep 25, 2008 7:19 am
Mood: Looking at numbers, 731 Views
In response to Wendy's post questioning numbers in the Bible, I found this article, hope it blesses you.

Biblical numerology is the study of numbers in the Bible. Two of the most commonly repeated numbers in the Bible are 7 and 40. The number 7 signifies completion or perfection (Genesis 7:2-4; Revelation 1:20). It is often called “God’s number” since He is the only One who is perfect and complete (Revelation 4:5; 5:1, 5-6). (It's also my lucky number) The number 3 is also thought to be the number of divine perfection: The Trinity consists of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The number 40 is often understood as the “number of probation or trial.” For example: the Israelites wandered for 40 years (Deuteronomy 8:2-5); Moses was on the mount for 40 days-Exodus 24:v18; 40 days were involved in the story of Jonah and Nineveh (Jonah 3:4); Jesus was tempted for 40 days (Matthew 4:2); there were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension (Acts 1:3). Another number repeated in the Bible is 4, which is the number of creation: North, South, East, West; four seasons. The number 6 is thought to be the number of man: Man was created on the 6th day; man labors 6 days only. Another example of the Bible using a number to signify something is the number 666, the number of the Antichrist in Revelation chapter 13.

Whether or not the numbers really do have a significance is still debated in many circles. The Bible definitely seems to use numbers in patterns or to teach a spiritual truth. However, many people put too much significance on “Biblical numerology,” trying to find a special meaning behind every number in the Bible. Often a number in the Bible is simply a number. God does not call us to search for secret meanings, hidden messages, and codes in the Bible. There is more than enough truth in the words and meanings of Scripture to meet all our needs and make us “complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16).

So, Wendy, does that answer your question?

Falling In Love Is Easy, Staying In Love Is NOT!!! Sep 25, 2008 4:06 am
Mood: Strong and United, 550 Views
It's easy to fall in love, some do it frequently, lol.
However, staying in love requires a great deal of effort, just ask anyone in a relationship. My Dear One and I have had to work diligently to overcome the many obstacles we have been faced with, and I'm sure that those efforts will continue to be required as we take life's journey together. It is my humble opinion that 3 things are required, in order to make a relationship work. I call them "The Three C's", which are Companionship, Communication, and Commitment.

1. COMPANIONSHIP:

" Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life..."
Ecclesiastes 9:9

A recent study shows that the number one thing that men and women alike, desired in marriage is companionship. That was a shocker to me, as I would have thought otherwise. But, if you think about it, when everything else fails, friendship will prevail. It is so important to be able to enjoy life with your significant other. Sharing things in common, laughing together, spending time in activities both find enjoyable. This is the foundation on which love can be established.

"This is my BELOVED, and this is my FRIEND."
Song of Solomon 5:16
Your beloved should also be your friend.
If necessary, rearrange your life to return your spouse to the place of being your closest and most cherished companion.
So the first "C" in the recipe for a happy marriage is making time for good companionship.

2. COMMUNICATION:

Communication is an essential part of the recipe for staying in love. Since men and women communicate differently, it is imperative to learn how to talk to your beloved, in ways that are effective for one another. We all have thoughts and feelings and expressing them to each other is vital and necessary. It's important to be free to communicate how you feel, in order to get to know each other, your likes and dislikes, your dreams and goals, and the things that are acceptable and the things that are not.
The second "C", then, in the recipe for staying in love, is working at establishing great communication with your significant other.

3. COMMITMENT:

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be UNITED TO HIS WIFE, and they will become one flesh."
Genesis 2:24

Leaving former high priorities for a higher one — that is biblical commitment to your spouse.
When pressures mount and companionship and communication may temporarily break down, commitment to one another will carry you through. My Beloved and I have had some major disagreements, but the commitment we made to one another, and the determination to make it work, have enabled us to come together again, forgive each other, communicate our feelings in the matter, and resolve our differences.

Three principles of commitment here for relationships:

1) SET your affection on your beloved

2) KEEP the OATH and promises you made to each other

3) Be FAITHFUL to your COVENANT of LOVE

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and GAVE himself up for her."
Ephesians 5:25

Jesus’ love for His Church is the ultimate example of commitment — giving Himself unto death for His beloved.

Friends, my encouragement to you is this: follow Christ’s example; be absolutely, unshakably committed to your significant other, in good times and bad.
The final "C" in the recipe for staying in love is determining to maintain an absolute, unshakable commitment to one another.

This recipe can be used to maintain any relationship, friendship or love. These are the foundations used to build and nurture, and keep your love alive and well. Apply these three principles in your relationships, and I can assure you that the blessing of the Lord will be consistently upon it. And before long you will be telling others about the Bible’s recipe for staying in love. Of course, God must be the main ingredient and prayer for each other is paramount. Even if we are fighting, we are still praying for each other. That also gives us comfort and reassurance. When you've finally found "the One", seek God's blessings, pray without ceasing, and put these three "C's" into the mix and the results will be a long, satisfying, strong, life together.

Sometimes, Running Away Is The Smart Choice Sep 24, 2008 4:03 am
Mood: Running for my life!, 637 Views
I am a very determined person. Once I get a spiritual principle deep down on the inside of me, I will stand my ground, without wavering, regardless of the opinions of others. When believing for a certain thing that is promised by God, I will remain steadfast to the manifestation of that promise, until it becomes a reality in my life. I am a bulldog with lipstick, lol. But, there are many times in the Bible where we are instructed to flee, or run away from the things that will hurt us or bring unfavorable consequences.

"To flee" means:
To run away or escape from danger; to pass away from swiftly; to move rapidly from and avoid.

I was amazed to discover that there are over 100 scriptures admonishing us to "flee". Most of these talk about "fleeing from" 5 different things:

1. Flee from idolatry and its modern counterparts — covetousness and greed.
"Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry."
I Corinthians 10:14
" Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry."
Colossians 3:5
We can have idols right in our homes, such as Buddhas, Totem poles, dreamcatchers, new age symbolisms, such as crystals, and many other forms of idols that pertain to things other than God-throw them out!
Many idolize certain athletes, actors and actresses, and musicians. But, more commonly today, our idolatry is much more subtle, in the form of greed.
" For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
I Timothy 6:10-11
You can gain wealth, but lose your family. You can accumulate much, but become spiritually bankrupt. You can, like the Laodiceans, be "rich and increased with goods" and yet have Jesus vomit you out of His mouth (Revelation 3:16-17, KJV).
So, flee from idolatry, greed, and covetousness!

2.Flee from sexual immorality.
We all know what that is and doesn't require much explanation, but I think it's important to consider fleeing from situations that may lead to sexual immorality too.
"Flee from sexual immorality."
I Corinthians 6:18
"Flee youthful lusts."
2 Timothy 2:22
Don't allow yourselves, even for a moment, to look at pornography, on television, movies, magazines, or your computer. Don't date unbelievers, who almost certainly will not possess Biblical standards for morality, and remove yourselves from any and every circumstance that would present occasions for immorality.
"Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?"
Proverbs 6:27-28

3. Flee from persecution in one place to another place of ministry.
Sometimes the seemingly "noble" thing to do may not be the biblically smart decision. Jesus Himself said, if you find yourself persecuted in one place, flee. Take off. Run away. Get out of there. Persecuted? Go somewhere else to preach the Gospel.
"All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another."
Matthew 10:22-23

4. Flee from the voice of an unknown, unproven shepherd.
"The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep.... His sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will flee from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."
John 10:2-5
Be careful who shepherds you. Don’t make premature commitments to a new church or a new pastor. Take some time to look for evident fruit of the Spirit and sound bible doctrine.
Be cautious about "television pastors". The true shepherd calls his own sheep by name (vs. 3). He leads them (vs. 3). He goes on ahead of them, and they know his voice (vs. 4). Wise sheep will run away from the stranger (vs. 5). No pastor can do all these biblically appropriate things for you at a distance.

5. Flee from Babylonish influences in your spiritual life.
"Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord's vengeance; He will pay her what she deserves.
Jeremiah 51:6
Incense, robes, and ritualism have replaced the sincere prayers, praise, and worship of all the saints being offered directly from each believer’s heart to God. No church is exempt from the dangers of Babylonianism. The early Church began right, but much of the Church drifted from the path over the years. Ritual replaced reality. The initial power, anointing, and vibrant faith that began in Jerusalem was gradually replaced by the cold, formal, ritualistic prescriptions of spiritual Babylon.

As you can see, sometimes there is great wisdom in running away, and we are instructed to do so when faced with these circumstances. So, on your mark, get set, flee!

...Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
Psalm 27: 13, 14

For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace, and NOT for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.
Jeremiah 29:11

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.
Psalm 34:17

Do not fret or have anxiety about anything, but in EVERY circumstance and in EVERYthing, by prayer and petition, WITH thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And, God's peace shall be yours, the peace that passes all understanding, shall garrison and guard over your hearts and minds, in Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:6-7

So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though the going is rough for a while down here.
I Peter 1:6

When I pray, You answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need.
Psalm 138:3

And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in his grace until his task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns.
Philippians 1:6

God's Kind Care

God has not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways, all our life through.
God has not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, or peace without pain.
God has not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble, and woe.
He has not told us we shall not bear,
Many a burden and many a care.
God has not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide;
Never a mountain, rocky and steep,
Never a river, turbid and deep.

But, God HAS promised strength for the day,
Rest for the labor, and light for the way.
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy and undying love.

No matter where you are, in the midst of trials, there is ALWAYS a way out, this too, shall pass, through Jesus and His Word. The Solution for every problem can be found there. Read it, believe it, and confess it. Then, be patient in His timing. And, until the Solution is manifested, KNOW that you are not alone, He is right at your side, closer than a brother, to walk with you, to the victory.
Amen and Amen!!!

Finally, also know that there are people here, with a heart to intercede on your behalf, myself included. I welcome the opportunity to pray for you and be in agreement with you for the answers. Just leave a comment, I am happy to pray.

May God bless you with the knowledge of His word and a real and tangible revelation of His love today.
