God is SOOOOOOOO good to me!!!

My son just called me, I thought nothing of it, he calls me at least once a day. He's 29, has been married for 8 years, and has 2 beautiful kids. (of course, I'm a bit partial, lol.) Anyhow, I was expecting him to ask where I wanted to eat tonight, as we usually go out to dinner on Fridays, but instead, I got the shock of my life. This is what he said:

Hey Mom, God told me to call you today and tell you just how much I love you. I know I don't tell you often enough, but you are the person who has made me the man that I am. You were my mother and my father, yes, you were hard on me. There was many times, as a kid, that I cussed you out. There was many times that I felt you were overbearing and unfair. But, you taught me all the right things and even though I didn't listen at the time, your words never left my heart. Looking back, I'm so glad that you were my mom, all of my friends that were allowed to do all the things you wouldn't let me do, are all losers now, and will probably never amount to anything. It seems so strange that I find myself raising my kids just how you raised me, and we receive nothing but compliments on how well-behaved, mannerly, and respectful they are.
If I am ever truely successful, and if my kids are successful, it's because of you.
I love you mom, more than you will ever know.

Wow! Wow! Wow!

For all of you parents out there, raising kids, this is the day we all long for, true vindication, lol.

What an amazing God we serve! Hallelujah! That He would prompt my son to call and tell me that, was such a blessing and made my day. Thank you Father!

Urgent Prayer Needed-Update Dec 21, 2007 4:02 am

God has answered our prayers of provision for this family!

First of all, I want to thank each of you again, for your prayers for this family, God has answered them. My neice and I took what we have managed to collect, over to the family last night, and believe me, it was more of a blessing for us than it was for them.

It took 2 vehicles to carry all that we have collected. As we took in the first load, we were amazed at the beautiful Christmas tree someone donated. It was at least 7 feet tall, and beautifully decorated. And under it, all around it, and flowing out into the living room floor, was literally hundreds of presents!

It was such an honor to finally meet Paulette. She couldn't get up from the couch, so we went to her and hugged her. She proceeded to introduce us to all 5 of her kids. The 2-year old, Braden, blind, with diabetes, was so cute. He found his way to my niece's lap and crawled right up into it. She told us his story, how he had 2 strokes, as a result of his blood sugar going over 700, and how he had died 8 times since he was born. Then, we met the 4-year old twins, Nicholas, who is in remission from leukemia, and Kyleigh, who has spinal cord injuries that require surgery. They were both so loving and precious. Next, we met Dustin, who is 9, he was playing games on the computer when we arrived. Paulette explained that he had ADHD and was currently taking medication for it, and escapes into his own little world, with computer games. The oldest, Zach, is 15 going on 30, and so very appreciative for what we had done.
Paulette has had 45 radiation treatments, one tumor, in the front of the brain, was removed, her hair won't grow back there. Then, she showed us the tumor in the back of her head, it was bigger than a golf ball, and is inoperable. Her specific kind of brain cancer is very rare, only occurring in 2% of cases, and even then, mostly found in men, 40-48 years old, and most have died within a year.
Her doctor suggested that she make peace with her condition, at best, perhaps they could prolong the inevitable, but Paulette refuses to accept that suggestion. She told us that she has 5 children, depending on her to live, and she's believing for a complete healing, for their sake.
She asked me to convey to all of you who have prayed, her gratitude and appreciation, and asked that we continue to pray.
She told us that the fund set up at a local bank, had received donations from all over the world, (I know that some of that was you, bc) and most were given anonymously.
We met her brother, Arthur, who has taken in his sister and her family, and taken on raising the children, after she is gone, with 2 children of his own. He was preparing dinner when we arrived, frozen pizzas for everyone, there must have been at least a dozen!
After unloading everything, we sat and talked for almost an hour, I have never been so inspired. Even in the midst of all that this family is going through, they are praising God and believing Him for the answers to their prayers.
My neice left her phone number and told them that she would be honored to babysit all the children, anytime. I, too left my card and told her to please keep in touch.
As we were leaving, we discovered that while we were there, someone had dropped off 2 full Honey Baked Hams, right in front of the door, anonymously, and left. Our God is so good! He has answered our prayers for provision for this family, abundantly! But, please continue to pray for them. The prognosis may be bleak, but God is able!
I am asking Him for blessings for each of you that have prayed, and giving Him all the glory for the answers. Thank you again, bigchurch!

Take THAT, devil!!!!

What If It's NOT a "Merry" Christmas? Dec 19, 2007 11:23 am

But, today.........

I don't know why I am writing this today, I'm sure I will regret it as soon as I post it. If that happens, I guess I can always come back and delete it, right? Usually, I pray for something to write that will bless someone, encourage someone, or lift someone's spirits. But, today, I can find no joy in my heart. My day began with being awakened from a terrible nightmare. Thank God, I don't have them very often anymore, only a couple of times a year. They started right after I was raped and the theme is always the same. I am running, running from someone, an unseen face, who is trying to harm me. I wake up in fear and trembling, my heart is racing wildly, there is a lump in my throat I can't swallow, and I am always on the brink of tears. Normally, I consider the source, rebuke it, and begin to pray immediately. Most of the time, that gives me victory, but, today was different.
I've been struggling, on a daily basis, for the last 6 weeks, with grief and memories from a couple of recent losses in my life. I consider myself to be a mature Christian and I know what to do with these fiery darts. I refuse to accept them, and even say out loud, "I refuse to think about that", and replace them with whatever is pure and just and lovely. But, today, it hasn't worked. Then, it seems that since I wrote my last 2 blogs on forgiveness, my enemy is working overtime to overwhelm my mind with his fiery darts, you know, "you'll never amount to anything, you'll always be alone, no one will ever want you, you'll never overcome your past", any of those ring a bell? Sure, we all go through the motions, and all of our "Christianese" language, "praise the Lord, hallelujah, thank you Jesus", but for many of us, there is a place, deep down inside, that we don't reveal to others. That secret place, that holds our pain, sorrows, and lonliness. I rarely show that place to anyone, as my father raised me to never cry in front of anyone, and never let people see my weaknesses and vulnerabilities. But, today I wear my heart on my sleeve, transparent to the world.
Yes, for the sake of friends and loved ones, we will put on our best smile, and laugh at all the jokes, we will proclaim the birth of our Saviour and express our gratitude and appreciation for all He has done for us, but others will never realize what we keep hidden in that secret place. We will try to ignore it when those feelings come, push back the tears, and pretend that everything is hunky-dory, but, today, I show you my heart. And the hearts of countless others, that are hurting and lonely. Especially when we go to parties and family functions where everyone is coupled up and we are the third wheel, the odd guy out, that's when we realize that we are alone. Even in a crowd of people, we feel so lonely.
Normally, my prayer time is spent in praise and thanksgiving, and lifting up the needs of others, but, today, my prayers feel fruitless and the only thing I could pray, with conviction, is God, help me today.
Normally, my blog and my comments on other blogs, are intended to be a blessing, but, today, I humbly ask for your prayers. Please take a few minutes, to pray for all of us that may not have such a "Merry" Christmas. You probably will not know who we are, because we try hard not to let it show. But, believe me, there are many, right here on bc, who are struggling to experience joy this Christmas season, for whatever reason.
Please remember us in your prayers.

Thank you!!!

How Do I Forgive Others? Dec 18, 2007 5:28 am

Forgiveness IS a choice!

Yesterday, I wrote about learning to forgive myself, as it is a lesson we rarely see taught. Today, I'm writing about forgiving others, because even though there are many lessons on forgiveness, people still seem unable to accomplish it.

Why can't I forgive?

It's really very simple, you don't forgive because you choose NOT to forgive. It's not that complicated, not some algebraic equation with an answer that is unattainable. Rather, it is a simple choice we must make. Life is full of choices, you are free to choose.

You say: I can't forgive them.
I say: You CAN do all things through Christ, Who strengthens you.
You say: But, you don't know what they did.
I say: I don't care what they did, the Bible doesn't say, Forgive, unless they did something really bad.
You say: I can't get past all of the anger.
I say: That's the ONLY way to get past the anger, is to forgive.
You say: I can't seem to move ahead, past all the pain.
I say: The ONLY way to move ahead is to let go of what lies behind, and press on to the GOOD things that are ahead.
You say: I've been praying for God to heal me from the pain.
I say: The Bible says when we come to the altar, with unforgiveness in our heart, leave, and go forgive that person, then come back to pray.
You say: I need God to forgive me for my sins.
I say: The number one condition for receiving forgiveness, is to give forgiveness.
You say: Well, they don't deserve my forgiveness.
I say: Well, do you?

How do I forgive?

I'm so glad you asked, lol. You forgive by making a choice to forgive. It's as easy as saying: Father, I choose to forgive soandso. See, it's not hard. Are your feelings going to line up with your choice? No, not right away, anyhow. But, we are not supposed to be walking by our feelings. For, we walk by faith, and not by sight.
Holding on to unforgiveness, is like drinking poison, and hoping your enemy will die. It does no harm to the person it is directed to, it only harms you, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Reasons to forgive

1. Do you want to be obedient? We are commanded to forgive. It is not a suggestion. Forgive, out of your obedience.
2. Do you want/need/desire for your sins to be forgiven? Forgiving others is a condition to receiving forgiveness from God.
3. Do you want your prayers answered? If so, you must forgive before even making your petitions.
4. Do you want to move forward in your life and relationships? We cannot move forward, until we've let go of the past. Unforgiveness is holding on to the past.
5. Do you want the pain to be gone? It will NOT go away, until you forgive, that is the first step.
6. Would you like to get retribution for those who have hurt you? Forgive them and give it to God. He is our vindicator, He will repay. Vengeance is Mine, saith the Lord.
7. Do you want to be healthy? Science has proven that resentment and unforgiveness, manifest in your physical body. God did not create us to hold onto negative emotions. They have a detrimental effect on the human body.
8. Do you want to be happy and fulfilled? That goal cannot be attained unless you choose to forgive, then the peace of God will satisfy and fulfill you.

Please, for your sake today, for your own good, for you to move past the pain, forgive those who have hurt you. God will approve, your prayers can begin to be answered, and you will feel better about being obedient. Your pain will then have a chance to diminish, you will feel free, and it will make you feel good that you are the better person, for having done so.

Father, show us today, that forgiveness is a choice, that only we can make. Show us that it is as simple as making a decision to forgive. Once we have done that Father, heal us and restore us, and take us to the place you want us to be. In Jesus Name, Amen.

How do I forgive myself? Dec 17, 2007 4:58 am

Thank God for His Mercy and Forgiveness!

When I asked Jesus into my heart, 17 years ago, the first lesson I learned, was about His wonderful mercy and forgiveness. It was amazing to me that all of my sins and mistakes would be forgiven, AND remembered no more. WOW!!!
I came to God, in true repentence, with my list of things I needed forgiveness for, believe me, it was a long list, lol.

At the top of the list, and one of my "biggest" sins, was asking for forgiveness for having 3 abortions. Yes, I killed 3 of my own babies, pretty awful huh? At the time, I reasoned with myself, that it was for the best, as I was taking alot of drugs and surely the babies would have been born with complications. I convinced myself that I was actually doing the right thing, sparing 3 children the pain and struggle of being disabled, or worse. Right?

Little did I know, at the time, just what implications there were, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. There were complications with two of them, hemorrhaging and pain, as I had a real butcher for a doctor. One, he performed without even having a nurse in the room. Eventually, I ended up with cervical cancer, that I know were a direct result of having 3 abortions.
Emotionally, the pain took awhile to come, as I said, I convinced myself I was making the wisest decision. It started with thoughts of what it might be like to have 4 children, instead of one, and the thought process continued. What might they have turned out like, had I not decided to abort them? What might they have had to offer the world? How could a woman kill her own baby, 3 of them? The guilt and condemnation was horrific. This lead to problems with my self-esteem, what a terrible person I was, how no good man would ever want a woman that had done such awful things.
Then, when Jesus became my Saviour, the condemnation actually grew worse, as I realized the real eternal implication of what I had done. I accepted that God forgave me, intellectually, that's what I was taught. But, I found no peace in that. Yes, God forgave me, but how could I ever forgive myself?
Even after becoming a Christian, for 12 years, I carried this guilt, rarely a day went by that I didn't think about what I'd done. I had nightmares and such regret in my heart. Unconsciously, I decided that I had to punish myself for this unbelievable sin I had committed.
Then, one day, about 5 years ago, I attended a Bible conference out of town, with several friends. They were close friends, and knew what I had done. In the middle of the teaching, the woman stopped, and said, "There's a woman here, who has had 3 abortions. God told me to tell you that He has forgiven you, a long time ago, and it's time for you to forgive yourself". Talk about a light bulb moment? My friends looked at me, in amazement, and said, wow, that was a Word from God for you! So many thoughts raced through my mind, at that moment, thoughts of all I had suffered, at my own hands for what I had done. Then, suddenly, a weight was being lifted off of me, I actually felt the heaviness begin to subside. Yes, I had to forgive myself, I had to let go of all the guilt and regret. It was perhaps one of the most enlightening experience in my spiritual walk.
No one had ever taught me this principle, I had never heard a lesson on self-forgiveness. But, God taught me that day. What a revelation of love and mercy He showed me.
After experiencing the release of bondage I had put on myself, the nightmares ended, haven't had even one, since that day. The torturing thoughts stopped, I really haven't thought about it anymore, and I have learned how to love myself.
I don't know why this has been on my mind the last couple of days, but maybe I was supposed to write of my experience, because there may be some of you, who have done something you regret, maybe you have hurt or mistreated someone. You've repented, and God has forgiven you, but have you forgiven yourself? Have you even realized your feelings of guilt and condemnation for what you have done? The devil would love for you to remain in that bondage, but God is saying, "It's time for you to come out of that!"
Forgive yourself today, for any and all past mistakes, Jesus sacrificed His life for you to be free and righteous. And, whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! Don't live in guilt, condemnation, and regret-there's no victory in that place.
God has already forgiven you, a long time ago, and it's time to forgive yourself.
God is so awesome! Not only has He forgiven all of my sins, but He has taught me to forgive myself. Hallelujah!

Happy Saturday BigChurch!

Since I have to work all weekend, here chained to my computer, I figured I may as well listen to some music, I've got lots. (just one of the fringe benefits of having my office at home, lol.) There's something about music that lifts my spirit and makes my feet want to move. I have a Donnie McClurkin album, "Live in London and More", that really rocks!!! (yes, Steve, just like Jesus! lol.)
One song in particular, "The Victory Chant", just knocks my socks off!!!
Here's the words, SHOUT THEM!!!

The Victory Chant

Hail Jesus, You're my King!
Your life frees me to sing.
I will praise You all my days!
You're perfect in all Your ways.

Hail Jesus, You're my Lord!
I will obey Your Word.
Because I want to see Your kingdom come,
Not my will, but Yours be done.

Glory, glory to the Lamb!
You will take us into the land.
We will conquer in your name.
I proclaim that Jesus reigns!

Hail, hail, Lion of Judah!
How wonderful you are!
Hail, hail Lion of Judah!
How powerful you are!

Repeat verse 1
Repeat verse 3
Repeat verse 4

He's the Lion, in the tribe of Judah,
He's the root and the offspring of David.
He's the lilly of the valley,
He's the bright and the morning star.

The Lion of Judah, yes
Shall break every chain!
And give to us, the victory
Again and Again! (repeat)

How Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
How powerful You are!

Wooooooooooo! Hoooooooooo! I'm dancing in my chair, singing at the top of my lungs, the only problem is that I keep writing hail hail, in my journal entries, lol.

Hail Jesus! You're my King! Praising His Name forever!!! Hallelujah!!

When God, When? Dec 15, 2007 5:44 am

Waiting on God

We serve the All-Knowing God, Who keeps His eye on us all the time. He knows everything before it happens. Psalms 139 says He knows our thoughts before we think them.

Have you noticed that the answers we seek, rarely ever come quickly? I have heard the saying many times, God is never late, but I've found that He is rarely ever early either. In my life, He usually arrives 1 minute before midnight. One of the most difficult things to do is wait on God. And, during the waiting, the devil attacks us through our thoughts, "it's never going to change, you're never going to get it, you might as well give up."

The devil is a liar!!!

Why does God make us wait? Psalms 31:14 says, "I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You O Lord, You are my God. My times are in Your hands."
Waiting on God teaches us to trust Him. Trust is not inherited, it is learned. We learn to trust God by going through various experiences that require trust. By seeing God's faithfulness over and over, we let go of trusting ourselves, let go of relying on our limited intellect, and begin to enter into trusting Him, and receive His rest, while we are waiting.
Waiting on God excercises our faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." We can always have faith NOW, but we can't always have the manifestation NOW. We grow during times of waiting.
Galations 6:9 says, "we must....not lose heart and grow weary, for in due time and at the appointed season, we will reap, if we faint not".
In I Peter 5:6 we are exhorted to "humble" ourselves "under the mighty hand of God, that in due time, He may exalt us".
What is "due time"? I believe that it is when God knows we are ready, when everyone else involved is ready, and it fits into His perfect plan.
Waiting on God allows for the annointing to be released. The annointing is the Holy Spirit enabling us to do what God has called us to do. The Holy Spirit teaches, corrects, sanctifies, helps, and strengthens us.
Sometimes, it is so hard to wait and be still for God's timing. Sometimes, we are tempted to make things happen in our own flesh, just look at Sarah and Abraham, Ishmael being the result. But God says in Psalms 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God". Sometimes we feel like we are just sitting on a shelf, it seems like nothing is happening, yet much is being accomplished in the spiritual realm, we just can't see it.
In Hebrews 6:12, it says that we inherit the promises, through faith AND patience.

God has a perfect timing for everything in your life. Sometimes, the answer comes quickly, but more often, He waits until He knows you are ready to use His gifts wisely. The wait is not easy, impatience, frustration, and disappointment can build, because we want things to happen NOW. No one enjoys enduring pain or lonliness or lack.

Just know today, God hears your prayers, He is working to answer them. If you are willing to wait on His perfect timing, the answers will come. NEVER give up, no matter how long you've been waiting, you WILL reap, IF you faint not. God cannot lie, His promises are real, we can count on Him, for He is faithful. We just have to be willing to wait for His perfect timing.

Most Gracious and Loving God, help me to wait on You. Help me to have an expectant attitude and go through the preparation process, until Your perfect timing is manifested. Help me to allow the Holy Spirit to do a work in me, necessary before my answer comes. Strengthen my trust and faith in you, as I wait. I praise you and thank you for the answers. In Jesus name, Amen

The Key To Victory Dec 14, 2007 5:40 am
Mood: Praising Him Forever!, 471 Views
Praise is the key to victory!!

No matter where you are in your life, at this moment, praise should always be an integral part of your vocabulary. Please consider this:

Through Him, therefore, let us CONSTANTLY and AT ALL TIMES offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.
Hebrews 13:15

The word "praise" is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. We are admonished to praise Him in ALL circumstances. Why do you think that is? Is it because God is in heaven, looking for edification, through our praise? Certainly NOT! God knows the power of praise, He abides in the praise of His people. He knows that victory can be found through praise. As I was reading in Acts this morning, I came across this scripture:

And at midnight, Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God. And the prisoners heard them. And SUDDENLY there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bands were loosened.
Acts 16:25-26

We all know the story, Paul and Silas were arrested for preaching the gospel and casting a demon out of a young woman. They had been whipped and put into the innermost prison, with their feet in stocks, but God............Yes, God heard their prayers and songs of praise, and He shook that jail, until every door flew open, and the stocks fell off the prisoners feet.
But, did you notice that the answer came while Paul and Silas were praising God, and not while they were praying? Prayer is important, it has it's place, but prayer alone won't get the job done. No, the answer came while they were praising God.

Praising God creates an atmosphere in which the Holy Spirit can work.

Many Christians miss out on God's blessings because they don't take the time to get in an attitude of worship. But when you learn to lift your voice in praise to the Lord, His supernatural power will begin to manifest in your life. There are so many stories in the Bible, where the victory was won, with the praise of the people. Do you think that is because God was just trying to fill up empty space? No, they were given, by example, to show us how to gain the victory.

It doesn't matter whether you are in the pits or the palace, God is worthy to be praised. It doesn't matter how desperate your circumstances, there are ALWAYS many reasons to praise God. It's easy to praise God when things are good, but when life is filled with trials and tribulations, our focus is not naturally on praise, rather, our focus is on our circumstances.

When I first learned this principal, I was in a deep pit. But, out of obedience, I began to praise Him. At first, it seemed like an oxymoron, praising God while my life was in ruins, but I persisted. After a while, I noticed that my heart was lifted, my Spirit felt lighter, a hope sprang up in me that wasn't there before. And, eventually, my victory came.

Praise Him today, for all that He is and all that He has done. Praise Him that your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, praise Him for His goodness and mercy toward you, praise Him for forgiveness, and praise Him for the answers, even if you haven't received them yet. He is worthy of our praise, every moment of every day.
