Televangelists-My Side of the Story Dec 30, 2007 5:31 am
Mood: Contemplative, 631 Views
For What It's Worth........

There are two sides to every story, and a multitude of differing opinions. This is simply my viewpoint, from my experience, feel free to take it or leave it, as the Holy Spirit leads you.

Allow me to begin by saying and acknowledging that there are some televangelists that twist and distort the Word of God, to suit their own selfish purposes. There are some that prey on others vulnerabilities, by promising things, if only they will give. For these, I simply turn the channel. I know that God is a God of justice and He will judge their sins. I also pray for their conviction.

But, does that mean all televangelists are bad? I know of many preachers, caught in the web of pornography, adultery, and other sins, does that mean that all preachers are bad?

I was saved in 1990, at the time of my conversion, I was a Satanist, the Satanic Bible was my handbook. I was involved with a coven of witches and seen things with my own eyes, that I would not have believed, otherwise. I drew natal astrological charts for people and practiced palmistry and numerology. In addition, my soul was so messed up, as a result of abuse, drugs, abortions, and deception. I was in desperate need of Divine deliverance, healing, and restoration.

I didn't go to church, tried it, tried many, didn't like it. One day, while flipping through the channels, I came upon a show, where the Word of God was being preached. I listened and it fed me, spiritually. I discovered that there were a few of these types of programs, (there weren't as many then, as there are now) and I watched them consistently. They poured into me the Word of God, which eventually healed me. They taught me practical applications of God's principles, into my every day life, that ultimately gave me the victories I needed.

In my ignorance, as a baby Christian, I didn't know to "test the spirits", all I knew was that I was coming out from all the pain and darkness that I had been living in for so long. These televangelists were responsible for pouring the Word into me and have been a key factor in where I am today, in my spiritual journey.

I still watch the shows that feed me, every day. I've got satellite and access to over a dozen Christian channels, and I'm blessed and edified daily. There is one that I've partnered with for 15 years, that sends me a complete accounting of her ministry every year, along with what her and her husband's personal salary is. Do I begrudge her making $250,000 a year, living in a nice home and driving a nice car? No way! We think nothing about athletes making millions each year, and celebrities making millions for each movie, and there's is just for a few hours of entertainment value, presented each week. How much more then, is the value of saving souls? When I wrote to her, in 2005, telling her that I was starting a ministry for women, and requested resources, she sent a huge box of books, cd's and dvd's, for free, with no mention of making a donation. These resources have instructed and edified over 200 women since, in a very positive way.

I attend conferences, put on by various televangelists, several a year, and take the women in my ministry. Never once have I been forced to write a check, nor have I seen the speaker come off the stage and force anyone to give. I give because God said to feed those who feed me. I am a cheerful giver. Now, have I discovered some that weren't worthy of my giving, because of financial improprieties in their ministries? Yes, and I simply quit giving to them.

Friends, don't let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch. There are many annointed, spirit-filled ministries, whose intention is only to lift up the body of Christ, teach and instruct, and edify. I don't even want to think about where I might be right now, if not for those few tv ministries that have fed me so fully. And, I have watched the broken, hopeless lives of women, restored through their teachings.

Don't let the narrow-minded viewpoints of some, keep you from what may end up blessing you. Try them on, if they don't fit, discard them, change the channel, that's what a remote control is for, don't give to them. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.

As for the deceivers, God (and the Senate) will deal with them.

Just my humble opinion, for what it's worth.

True Story!!

A mother looked out the window and saw Johnny playing church with their 3 kittens. He had them all lined up, and was preaching to them. The mother thought about how cute it was and turned around to do some work.

A little while later, she heard meowing and scratching at the door. She went to the window and saw Johnny baptizing the kittens. She opened the window and said, "Johnny, stop that! You'll drown those kittens!"

Johnny looked at her and said, "They should have thought about that before they joined my church!"

Check out the pic, too cute!

Atheist's Day Dec 29, 2007 3:35 am

They need a day to celebrate, too!

In Florida, an atheist became angry and envious over all the preparations for Christmas and other religious holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists, by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays, while atheists had no holiday to celebrate.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel and declared, "Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, "Your Honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter, and many other observances. Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah....yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday."

The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, "Obviously, your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheist's holiday."

The lawyer pompously said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?"

The judge said, "Well, it comes every year on exactly the same day-April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as April Fools Day, consider that Psalms 14:1 states, The fool says in his heart, there is no God. Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by scripture, he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday! Now, have a good day and get out of my courtroom!!"

Way to go Judge!!

Amen

Assassination in Pakistan Today Dec 27, 2007 12:27 pm
Mood: Concerned, 450 Views
US Ally in War on Terror,Dead

Near Islamabad, Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto was shot twice and then the shooter blew himself up, killing 20 others also. She was running for President in the January election, against the incumbent Pervez Musharraf, and this was not the first attempt on her life. She gave her life to endorse democracy in Pakistan, and end the violence of Muslim extremists, and the people loved her. Of course, the Muslims and terrorists did not. Some even suggest that the current regime had something to do with the assassination, which of course, he denies. There are also claims that al Qaeda was responsible for the attack. Musharraf has called for 3 days of mourning for the woman who was outspoken for democracy and the war on terror.

So, what does this mean for us?

There are many implications for the US and the world in what happened today. The stock market took an immediate plunge as the country is filled with instability and violence. We have poured literally billions of dollars into Pakistan as our chief ally in the region. Since Pakistan borders Afghanistan, there are also implications for the war we are fighting there too. The US has recently lost confidence in Musharraf, as he seems to be backsliding in previous committments. Pakistan has nuclear weapons that could end up in the wrong hands, and then what?

The fruition of prophecy T writes about, is growing ever closer, every day. Keep your eyes on the news in the coming month. The volatility of the Middle East continues to increase. This is all a foreshadowing of what is described in Revelation. Please pray for Isreal and the peace of Jeruselum.

I have included the article from the Associated Press, below:

2007-12-27 10:09:46
By The Associated Press

The torrent of bullets that killed Benazir Bhutto cut short an epic life, one bathed in blood and awash with controversy.

Bhutto's father was hanged and a brother was shot to death. She had risen to become the Muslim world's first female prime minister, only to lose office and flee Pakistan for most of a decade in the face of accusations she was corrupt.

And when, finally, she returned in October to marshal the opposition against President Pervez Musharraf, her homecoming parade in Karachi was targeted by a suicide attacker. More than 140 people, died, but the 54-year-old Bhutto escaped injury and threw herself into the campaign.

"We have to modify our campaign to some extent because of the suicide bombings. We will continue to meet the public. We will not be deterred," she said then.

Her father was Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, scion of a wealthy landowning family in southern Pakistan and founder of the populist Pakistan People's Party. The elder Bhutto was president and then prime minister of Pakistan before his ouster in a 1977 military coup; two years later, he was executed by the government of Gen. Zia-ul Haq after being convicted of engineering the murder of a political opponent.

A year later, her youngest brother, Shahnawaz, had died under mysterious circumstances in France; the family insisted he was poisoned, but no charges were brought.

The elder Bhutto had sent his daughter to study politics and government at Harvard and then at Oxford, where she was elected to lead the prestigious debating society, the Oxford Union.

Bhutto returned to Pakistan after he father's death, swearing to continue his work. She was detained several times before being exiled to England in 1984. Two years later, she returned again to lead rallies for the restoration of civilian rule.

After Zia's death in a mysterious plane crash in 1988, Bhutto gave birth to the first of her three children. Beautiful, charismatic and articulate, she led her party to an election victory and became the first woman to lead a modern Muslim nation.

Her first administration was clouded by allegations of corruption and clashes with Pakistan's powerful military; her administration was dismissed after 20 months.

She was re-elected in 1993. But three years later, her brother Murtaza died in a gunbattle with police in Karachi; Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari, was charged with his murder. The charges eventually were overturned, but Zardari spent eight years in prison on those accusations and others involving corrupt dealings allegedly amounting to millions of dollars.

Benazir accused President Farooq Leghari of involvement in Murtaza's death, and Leghari dismissed her second government amid fresh allegations of misrule. She sought to lead a third government, but lost to archrival Nawaz Sharif in 1996.

She left Pakistan in 1999, just before a court convicted her of corruption and banned her from politics.

The verdict was later quashed, but she stayed away until Musharraf signed an amnesty, quashing any corruption charges against her and others.

Her return was triumphant, but fraught with peril. She was defiant to the end.

What's Coming Out of YOUR lips? Dec 27, 2007 5:23 am
Mood: Speaking God's Words, 443 Views
Mood: Speaking His Words,

What you SAY, is what you GET!!

This is a blog I posted back in June, and I have updated it a bit and presented it again, because I feel it is vital and necessary to our Christian walk. As we head into a New Year, we all reflect on changes we would like to make, in order to have more victory in our lives. If we did nothing else, besides change our WORDS, we would have more victory over EVERY circumstance.

There is power in the WORD of God. That's why it's so important to get those WORDS into our heart, so that when we need them, we can SPEAK them. Are you believing for something? What does your WORDS have to say about what you're believing for? Are you "calling forth those things that be not as though they are"? (Romans 4:17)

Our WORDS come directly from our thoughts, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." As believers, we are supposed to have the mind of Christ. (I Corin 2:16) This means that we hold the thoughts, feelings, and purposes of HIS heart. But when we operate by what we want, think, or feel, according to the desires of our flesh, we are not thinking like Jesus thinks, and we SAY things we shouldn't SAY. As we begin to change our WORDS, we free up the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. If we are praying for a friend/loved one to be saved, then turn around and SAY "I can't believe what he/she did, they're never going to change", we have contradicted our prayers, by SPEAKING the opposite of what we're believing for.
I pray today, that this will bless you, instruct you, and convict you, to change what's coming out of your lips.

From time to time, we all need a refresher course on the WORDS that come out of our mouth. One famous Bible teacher says "WORDS are containers for power." I was convicted today, that it was time for me to go to my study notes and scriptures, to remind myself of how my WORDS affect my faith, my attitude, and my destiny.

I awoke at 5:30 this morning, after having a nightmare, and try as I may, could not get back to sleep. Visions from the dream kept appearing in my minds eye. Frustrated and discouraged, I decided that I may as well get up, and before my feet hit the floor, I was tempted to SAY "this sure is a wonderful way to start my day!". Before the thought went from my brain to my mouth, the Holy Spirit convicted me not to SAY that. Instead, I was prompted to SPEAK the WORDS that I normally start my day with, and I did.

"Thank you Father for giving me this day today, it is the day that You have made, and I will rejoice and be glad, in it."

Immediately, the frustration was gone, and my discouragement was replaced with joy. I won't SAY that the vision of that dream did not appear in my thoughts all day, but when it did, I replaced it with His WORDS.

I have included some of these scriptures, for your consideration, in hopes that you, too, will take a moment to contemplate what's coming out of YOUR lips.

The WORDS of fools will ruin them: their WORDS will trap them. People will be rewarded for what they SAY; they will be rewarded by how they SPEAK. What you SAY can mean life or death. Those who SPEAK with care will be rewarded.
Proverbs 18:4, 7, 20-21

The mouth SPEAKS the things that are in your heart. And I tell you, that on Judgement Day, people will be responsible for EVERY careless thing they have SAID. The WORDS you have SAID will be used to judge you. Some of your WORDS will prove you right, but some of your WORDS will prove you guilty.
Matthew 12:34, 36-37

It is written in the scriptures, "I believed, so I SPOKE". Our faith is like this too. We believe, and so we SPEAK.
2 Corinthians 4:13

I tell you the Truth, you can SAY to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast in the sea," And, if you have no doubts in your mind and believe what you SAY will happen, it will be done unto you.
Mark 11:23

I believed, and therefore I have SPOKEN....... Psalms 116:10

You can be the prophet of your own life, yes, YOU can prophesy your future by the WORDS that you SPEAK. You can give your prayer life more power by praying back to God, His own WORDS. You can make the promises of God manifested by your CONFESSION.

Every day, we have new opportunities to SAY WORDS that are creative or destructive. Your WORDS can edify, encourage, or give hope to yourself, or to your friends and loved ones, they can gloriously heal or deeply hurt.

I learned this valuable lesson, by listening to my father, all of my childhood, SAY "I'm not saving money for my retirement, because I probably won't live that long." Even as a child, with no WORD in me, I always felt this was wrong, every time I heard him SAY it. He died 3 months before retiring.

So, I implore you today, consider the WORDS that are coming out of your lips, when you hear yourself SAYING the wrong things, repent and replace them with the WORDS that God SPEAKS. Meditate and contemplate on these scriptures and realize what power there is within you, to SPEAK your destiny into existence.

What are YOU doing for New Year's Eve? Dec 26, 2007 7:04 am
Mood: Indecisive, 593 Views
I can't decide what to do!!

Jesus and I had a wonderful day yesterday, but I sure am glad all the secular aspects of Christmas are over, I'm exhausted. Of course, I was up at 3:30 am, to get ready to shop until I drop, yes, I went to all the half-price sales, starting at 6 am. That's how I get all of my wrapping paper, bags, bows, cards, boxes and gifts for next year. I have now dropped, lol.

Now that it's over, my next consideration is New Year's Eve. I decided a week ago, to head out of town, and get a hotel room, armed with my Bible and portable DVD player, and just spend the evening with my Lord, resting in Him, rejoicing in Him, and be filled until overflowing. Then, came the invitations. My niece has organized a huge party, out in the woods, huge fire, bring your sleeping bags and tents, no worry of driving on the roads with a bunch of amateurs. (My ex is an alcoholic; he calls New Year's Eve, Amateur Night)
It might be nice, but it will be a secular party, everyone drinking, (I don't drink) listening to music, making all the noise they want, but................
Then, my girlfriend is having a party at her house, her 18-year old son and his friends will also be there, but they all get high, I don't really like being around that, so...............
I don't know what to do, New Year's Eve is one of the few times each year, when I feel lonely. Everyone is in couples, and at the strike of midnight, I don't get a New Year's kiss. Bummer.
But, being by myself is no fun either, so, I'm torn.
So, I'll be praying, to see where God leads me, and I will have to be very focused, to make sure my enemy doesn't take me down that all-too-familiar road of lonliness.

What are YOU doing for New Year's Eve? Do you have any suggestions for those of us alone on this evening of celebration?
Ideas and advice are welcomed.
Whatever you do, I pray that the night is significant in contemplating the New Year, and reflecting on 2007, in hope and peace and joy. May you be blessed and safe, and remember...

God will be GREAT, in 2008!

Because I want to see Your Kingdom come!
Not my will, but Yours be done!
Glory! Glory! To the Lamb!
You will take us into the land!
And we will conquer in Your Name!
I proclaim that Jesus reigns!

"The Victory Chant" By Donnie McClurkin

Today, Lord, You are in all that I say or do!

My present to You Jesus, is ME.

I give you my soul-my mind, my will, and my emotions. They never did much good for me anyhow. Take my mind, my intellect, and all my reasonings, replace them with Your Knowledge and the confidence of knowing that you are in complete control.
I give you my will, it always gets me in trouble, replace it with Your perfect will in my life.
I give to you my emotions, I don't want to feel pain anymore, I'm tired of sadness and stress, replace them with your joy and the peace that passes all understanding.
Lord, I give You my body to do with it what you will, lead my feet to the place You want me, guide my hands to do your work, keep my eyes focused on You and my ears open to hear from You.
Let my mouth only speak what You would have me speak, and sing praises to You all the day long!
Finally, I give you my spirit. It gets weary so often, sometimes, it even gets weak. Replace it with Your Holy Spirit, the Comfort of my life, to teach me and guide me, let It convict me of every sin and pray for me, when I don't know what to pray.

So, there you have it Jesus, my present to you, it is all that I have and all that I am. Bless me and sanctify me, and make me just like You!

Happy Birthday, My Lord and Saviour!

Oh, the Busyness of Christmas!!

So much left to do! Finish wrapping presents, still errands to run, food to get ready, phone calls to make, laundry to be done, pack up the car, what have I forgotten?

Meeting up with family and friends, off to the Candlelight Service, back to let the kids open their stockings, read the Christmas Story to my grandkids, tuck them snuggly into bed, what have I forgotten?

Christmas morning, began with prayer, oh the joy of seeing the smiles as they open their presents, stuff the turkey, prepare the food, clean up the mess, 20 people coming in the afternoon, but what have I forgotten?

This Christmas season, with all the hustle and the bustle of the holiday, don't forget Jesus. Without Him, this day would not be. In the midst of the busyness and stress, remember Him, praise Him, and thank Him for making life worth living. He is worthy of our focus and attention.

Busy, busy, busy, but through it all, I will acknowledge Him.

Greetings to family and friends, but through it all, I will thank Him, for every relationship and Divine connection.

So many gifts and presents, but through it all, I will bless Him for He is the greatest gift I have ever received.

Sad memories of all those that are missing this day, but through it all, I will honor Him, for He is the hope in my heart.

So many people, all around me, all in couples but me, but through it all, I will magnify His Name, for I will never be alone, He will never leave me nor forsake me.

So much food, enough for an army, but through it all, I will pray for His sanctification, in hopes that all this food will not add to my stature, lol.

Then, time to clean up, wash the dishes, pack up leftovers for every person, take out the trash, exhaustion setting in, but through it all, I will do it unto Him, and bask in His rest, for He is the reason.

Finally, time to head home, alone, to an empty house, with silence looming over me like a dark cloud, feeling captivated by a sense of lonliness, but through it all, I will rejoice in Him, for He is always with me, and has a perfect plan for my life.

Through it all, this Christmas Day, praise Him and honor Him. Give Him all the glory for what blessings you have, they are all because of Him. Love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, because He first loved you. Acknowledge Him in all your busyness, include Him in all of your celebration, for without Christ, there would be no Christmas.

For today, I will be praying for all of you here. Praying that His loving arms of comfort and grace, will be wrapped around each of you, giving you a real and tangible revelation of His love for you. Praying that He will heal you from the crown of your head, to the soles of your feet. Praying for His perfect will to be manifested in your life. Praying for His peace, which passes understanding, to be in your heart. And asking Him to answer all of your prayers and give you the desires of your heart, as you delight yourself in Him. Finally, I will be praying for you, that the New Year is filled with spiritual blessings, a closer, more intimate walk with Him, and for His joy, unspeakable and full of glory to rest upon you. I pray that you will proser financially, even as your soul prospers. I pray it all, in the powerful Name of Jesus, Amen and So Be It.

Remember, Mary wrapped the FIRST Christmas present, and that present was Jesus. He is the most valuable gift you have ever received.

From my heart to yours, the Merriest Christmas and Most Blessed New Year ever!

For All You Do, This Blood's For You!! Dec 23, 2007 4:21 am
Mood: Victorious!, 479 Views
The Word of God holds no power for the believer who has no understanding concerning the blood.

For some reason, this topic has come up several times recently, in my prayer time, my emails, and my studies. It all began when I posted a blog about church signs a few days ago, this one stuck out to me. It keeps coming into my thoughts, yes it's cute and catchy, a play on the famous "Bud"weiser beer slogan. But, it's more than that.

The Bible is full of scriptures that reference the blood. Under the Old Covenant, the shedding of blood was established for the atonement of sin.

For when every command of the Law had been read out by Moses, to all the people, he took the blood of slain calves and goats, together with water and scarlet wool, and with a bunch of hyssop, and sprinkled both the Book itself and all the people. Saying these words: This is the blood that seals and ratifies the agreement which God commanded me to deliver to you.
Hebrews 9:19, 20

The New Covenant always offers a better way, a new living way. Under the New Covenant, we do not have to sprinkle the blood of animals on the Bible and ourselves before reading, but we do need an understanding about the blood of Jesus that has been poured out for us, and which has sealed and ratified the New Covenant that we now have with God.

The Bible is a book about blood; it speaks of blood from Genesis to Revelation. In Genesis 4:10 we see Abel's blood crying out to God from the ground, after Cain had murdered him, and in Revelation 19:3 we see Jesus dressed in a robe dyed by dipping in blood. A careful study of the Word of God finds blood everywhere. Why? Because, according to Scripture, the life is in the blood.

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for your souls.
Leviticus 17:11

When God created Adam, He formed him out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. Adam already had blood, but there was no life in him until God breathed His own life into him. (you were right, thanks B ) But, the blood carries the life, no blood, no life. Life is a spiritual substance, but it must have a physical carrier, the blood carries the life of God, for He is life.

What's so special about the blood of Jesus?

It is impossible for us to live victoriously without understanding our rightful authority and dominion over the devil, through the blood of Jesus.
In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our sins, in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor.
Ephesians 1: verse 7

God bought us with the blood of His own son-the precious blood of Jesus! Oh, the blood! Why did it have to be blood that purchased our salvation? Because the life is in the blood and life is the only antidote for death.
But you were purchased with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a sacrificial lamb without spot or blemish.
I Peter 1:19

And God purposed that through Him, all things should be completely reconciled back to Himself, whether on earth or in heaven, as through Him, made peace by means of the blood of the cross.
Colossians 1:20

If Satan had known what he was doing when he crucified the Lord of Glory, he would have never done it. He thought the crucifiction was his greatest victory, but it was actually his ultimate defeat.
Believers have the blood, but precious few even understand the value of it, let alone how to use it in their everyday life. The blood is a sign of protection and we can plead the blood over the circumstances in our life, over our children, our jobs, our homes, there is life in the blood, and it can drive out sickness, too. You and I have a legal right to use the blood of Jesus. The devil wants you to forget about the blood, to pay no attention to it. He doesn't want you to talk about it, sing about it, or study about it. Hmmmm, wonder why?
When I pray, using the Name of Jesus, or pleading the blood of Jesus, I am merely exercising my legal rights; I am setting forth my case that Jesus shed His blood and died for me, therefore, Satan has no right to rule me, accuse me, condemn me, or do anything else to me or to anything that belongs to me.
Whatever phrasing you decide to use is up to you, but the point is: "use" the blood. Pray it, or put it, or apply it, or appropriate it or plead it-but for your own sake, do something with it.
You and I can go boldly to the throne and receive mercy for our failures. We can walk in the authority with which Jesus clothed us. We can exercise authority over the devil because of Jesus and His blood. We can truely say, "there is power in the blood of Jesus".
