Mood: Happy to be home!!!, 612 Views
Hi everyone! We've just returned from a long weekend in the Florida Keys and attending the Championship NASCAR Race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. What a wonderful weekend! God is so good! He answered my every prayer for the trip and we've made even more excellent memories. I was truly blessed to spend this time with the two loves of my life, lol, my 6-year old grandson, and My Dear One, AlanB2.

We left early Friday morning, for the 3-hour drive to the Keys. We stopped at the racetrack first, so I could do all of my shopping, lol, can't be bothered with that on Raceday. After spending too much on little racecars, having my face painted with checkered flags, and taking some pics, we headed for our hotel in Key Largo. It was very nice and located right on the beach. Saturday, we were off to feed the tarpon at Islamorada, one of the pelicans took the fish right out of my grandson's hand. There were literally hundreds of tarpon and other fish, some as big as 5 or 6 feet long and probably 150 pounds, and they were surely hungry.

From there, we headed south, through all of the Keys, across the Seven-Mile Bridge, and arrived at Key West. After sightseeing for a while, and a photo opportunity at the southern-most point in the USA, we headed back. On the way, we went through Key Deer, where the smallest deer in the world can be found. They're only as big as a dog, and can only be seen there. Coming back across the Seven Mile Bride at almost sunset was breathtaking! I found it amazing that in the middle of the bridge, where land could not be seen anywhere, only the beautiful green waters, a large tree was growing. We were astounded that a tree could grow where there is no land, right out of the bridge. Then we had dinner at my fav restaurant, Lazy Days, where you sit outside and enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean, while we feasted on fresh Mahi Mahi for dinner.

On Sunday morning, we were all about racing, lol. We packed the coolers with waters and juice, and the race bags with food, cameras, and all the necessary paraphanalia for attending a race, decorated the car windows with white shoe polish, establishing our fav drivers, put on the flags, and we were off to the race. It was excellent, and my fav driver, #99, Carl Edwards won, and did his signature backflip off of his car. There were fireworks and such comraderie with the 100,000 other racefans, and my Dear One, who was attending his first race, was a rookie no more, lol. My grandson, Zachary did a good job teaching him everything he needed to know. We had such a wonderful time and I have to admit, I didn't think of anything the whole weekend, but how very blessed I am.

Now, we're back to business as usual, playing catch-up on work, and looking forward to this weekend, when My Baby's family will be coming in from Boston to spend Thanksgiving. We certainly have a great deal to be thankful for and I'll be praising His Name every day! Hallelujah! I sure have missed all of you and look forward to catching up with all of the blogs and posting some myself. It's great to be back!

PS the pic is of the checkered flags painted on my face, I was very careful to keep them there for 2 days, lol.
