How Would YOU Vote On This Issue??? Nov 4, 2008 6:22 am

We ALL know today is Election Day in the United States, we'd have to live in a cave not to know, but in many states, there are Amendments to be considered. While there has been plenty of coverage on the presidential candidates, there are other issues to be voted upon today. In Florida, we have 5 Amendments on the ballot, which require 60% to pass. Most concern taxes, however there is one, Amendment Two, the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment, that will define marriage as between a man and a woman. For me, that's a no-brainer, of course I would vote in favor of that, as I know that would also be God's will, but a client presented some info to me yesterday, that I was unaware of. He told me that the gay civil rights groups were behind getting this amendment on the ballot. He went on to explain that the same groups were behind getting the one in California on the ballot also, and as soon as it passed, they hit the courts with lawsuits, objecting to the constitutionality of the amendment and it was overturned by the highest Appeals Court there. Regardless of the fact that 70% of the residents of California believed that marriage was between a man and a woman, a few liberal judges overturned the popular vote and made it legal for gay unions to be recognized as marriage in that state.

That makes voting in favor of this amendment a two-edged sword. If it passes, the gay rights groups then have the opportunity to appeal, possibly turning the whole thing around. If it doesn't pass, then they would have the ammunition to force it down the throats of Florida residents. What do you do? After prayer and consideration, I've decided to vote in favor of the amendment, and hope that the highest judges in the state are less liberal than in California, and would deny their appeal.

How would YOU vote? Which way would be the lesser possibility of gay marriages being recognized? What do you think?
