The Holyland Experience Oct 29, 2008 6:47 am

Hi BigChurch, we're home!!!

What a blessed weekend my Dear One and I experienced! We even extended it an additional day, lol.
The many memories we made and the pictures we took, will be a lasting rememberance for both of us. The Arabian Nights Dinner Theater was wonderful, the food was good and the show was exquisite. Afterward, we had an opportunity to pet the horses and talk to the actors. But, the Holyland Experience was definately the bright spot of the trip.

If you ever go to Orlando, this is a must-see for every Christian. It's my fourth time being there, but perhaps the best. TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network) recently purchased the Biblical theme park, and upgraded many of the features. When you first arrive, you walk through the stone gates to Jerusalem. (See pic, click to enlarge) Then, you walk through the city and see many merchants and craftsman set up in their outdoor marketplace. The first attraction is the Judean village, where the wedding at Canaan took place. The wedding party, and Jesus and Mary appear and the wedding is replicated according to scripture. Jesus went about the park, greeting and touching people, and quoting scripture. He brought tears to both of us as we had a chance to visualize His many teachings. It was especially profound as He called on all the children to come forth and blessed them. From there, we went to Calvary's Garden Tomb, where the live presentations of the burial and resurrection were played out.

After that, we went to the Temple, soaring six stories high, which was white with gold trim, and fascinatingly beautiful. It includes a theater inside where live musicals and presentations demonstrate the center of Jerusalem's religious life. Then, we went past the Last Supper Theater, which was a replica of how the event may have looked like. From there, it was on to the Shofar Auditorium, where there was a scale model of the city of Jerusalem in AD 66. It was amazingly detailed, right down to all of the people, animals, homes, walls, and the Temple.

Our final destination was the Scriptorium, which was a Biblical Antiquities Museum, where there was an hour-long tour of authentic and ancient Bible artifacts from around the world, that included original scrolls and Bibles and the stories of their introduction.

There was many other places that I didn't mention, such as the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, the Roman Army display, a huge landscape displaying the words "He is risen", an Oasis Cafe, Ex Libris Book Shoppe, the Living Word Prayer Garden where you can rest and pray, and several shops where I could be very dangerous if I had alot of money, lol.

All in all, we were extremely blessed this weekend, and I've posted some additional pics for your viewing pleasure. I give God all the glory and praise His Name for an awesome weekend. I hope each of you get an opportunity to experience the Holyland Experience, which, with my AAA discount was only $30 each, and you could spend the entire day there, as shows are presented at each location, every 30 minutes. I'm sure we'll be going back again. Perhaps we could plan the next BigChurch Bash in Orlando, what do you think?
