Mental Disorder pt.1 Oct 12, 2009 10:02 am
423 Views
Mental Disorders, abnormal or unstable behaviour, thoughts, or feelings. People are defined as mentally disordered because they behave, think, or feel differently from most others. However, even the most bizarre and strange behaviour can often make sense, once it is understood why the person is thinking and feeling that way.

Psychiatrists have developed systems for classifying mental disorders that describe the kinds of symptoms and behaviour that are commonly seen among those considered to be mentally disordered. These fall into two main groups: personality disorders and psychoses. Another common group of disorders is usually termed anxiety disorders.

II Personality Disorders

Personality disorders are demonstrated in many forms. In severe cases it affects the person’s ability to lead a normal life; in milder instances it may mean that a person is seen as being slightly eccentric, or as having mildly compulsive habits, or finding it difficult to make friends. Serious personality disorder is more often associated with anti-social behaviour, and problems in dealing with others. The most widely known form of personality disorder is psychopathic disorder. Personality disorders involve personality traits that are so inflexible that they make it impossible for the person to exist socially or to hold down a job and may cause considerable distress to others if not to the people themselves.

A Types of Personality Disorder

The paranoid personality is unduly suspicious and mistrustful. Schizoid personalities are devoid of the capacity, or the desire, for love and social relationships. Schizotypal disorders are marked by disconnected thought, speech, perception, and behaviour. Histrionic personalities have overly dramatic behaviour and expression. Self-importance and the need for constant attention and admiration are the marks of narcissistic personalities.

Those with anti-social personality disorders have a history of violating the rights of others and failing to observe socially accepted norms. Borderline personality disorder is marked by unstable behaviour towards others, and in mood and self-image. A person with an avoidant personality disorder is hypersensitive to potential rejection, humiliation, or shame. The dependent personality is overly passive, always allowing others to assume responsibility. Compulsive personalities are perfectionists and unable to express warm feelings. The passive-aggressive personality resists demands indirectly by procrastination and dawdling. These latter four may be considered in the milder range of personality disorders.

Personality disorder is not a mental illness that tends to develop quite suddenly and usually in response to particular stresses. Personality disorder develops slowly, as the person grows up, and is thought to be mainly due to environment and upbringing. For example, someone who grows up in a family where they are constantly criticized and shouted at may develop an anxious, neurotic personality. Similarly, someone who grows up in a family where everyone is aggressive and violent may develop an anti-social or paranoid personality. A growing body of evidence suggests that early sexual abuse also distorts personality development.

The psychopathic personality, or psychopath, usually shows the signs of being abnormal very early in life. Truanting and stealing are common, and some will enjoy showing deliberate cruelty to animals or to other children. Typically such people have a long history of anti-social and violent behaviour by the time they become adults. Sometimes their violent behaviour includes sexual offences such as rape, and some become murderers.

B Causes of Personality Disorder

The exact causes of personality disorder are not known. It may be learned or it may be genetically inherited. The problem is in knowing how much may be due to inherited characteristics, and how much may be learned. Anxiety, depression, and violence all seem to run in families, but it is not certain (and very hard to prove) whether they are inherited or learned characteristics.

Research done mainly in the United States suggests that serious personality disorder, such as psychopathy, may be linked to brain abnormality. The cause of the abnormality is also disputed: while some believe it is genetic, others think that it is the result of brain injury which may have happened when the child was physically abused by a violent parent, or it may come from birth difficulties or an early head injury.

Abnormal personality development probably results from a distortion of the interaction between the growing child and its environment. If, for example, a child has problems of learning, problem solving, or emotional control, this not only affects the way that he or she behaves, but may also result in other people responding negatively. The child then comes to expect the worst from the world around him or her, and thus tends to behave in a way that actually makes hostility and rejection more likely. So develops a vicious circle which, if it continues over years, distorts the child’s psychological development.

Psychological treatment can try to correct this distortion by helping the person to understand their problems and why they react as they do. The treatment involves the patient not only reaching this understanding, but also re-learning how to relate to others. Both psychotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy can be helpful. Psychotherapy attempts to look at the way in which the person’s earliest experiences have contributed to their problems. Cognitive behavioural therapy is more concerned with the here and now, and tries to encourage the patient to learn new ways of thinking and behaving that are more effective.

Natural healing methods should be used to treat a person as a whole and not used to isolate a part of the body or it's symptoms.Essential oils are best used in this way and although it takes professional training to give a holistic treatment, the oils can be used very successfully and safely at home to alleviate stress, promote relaxation,as minor first aid (e.g.lavender on burns),and to improve general health. They can also be used in many ways around the home and for beauty care.Essential oils are powerful substances and only a very small amount is required to bring about an affect. It is imperative for any aspect of aromatherapy that only true essential oils are from a reputable supplier are used-a synthetic fragrance will not do.Anyone with severe medical symptoms should seek medical advice. If you are in doubt regarding health,or the use of oils seek a professional aromatherapist.

Many hair conditions such as dryness, excessive grease,or dandruff will respond to aromatherapy using specific recepes of essential oils diluted in a nourishing base oil (such as olive or sweet almond) will make a wonderful conditioning treatment.Simply rub oils into the sculp, then wrap the hair in a warm towel and allow the oil to penetrate the hair and the sculp for an hour or two.You can use a shower cap ,or glad wrap and sit in the sun before 10 am or after 2 pm when the UV rays are not as strong.(just make sure you have a sunscreen on your face and neck). The choice of oils depends of course upon the desired effect:
Chamomile and rosemary, for instance will condition and promote healthy growth, bergamot and tea tree are helpful in dandruff comtrol whilst lavender has reppelent qualities which will deter lice and fleas.
Do not use head and shoulders ,or selsun as it thins the hair and can cause bolldness

TWO MOST CHRISTLIKE LADIES REBUKED...(BTW..THEY ARE REAL LADIES IN EVERY SENSE) Jul 25, 2009 4:19 am
Mood: What a shame.., 1438 Views

Like many others I don't visit lots of blogs and when do I try not to hurt any one intentionally..specially those that are a bit older then me..We don't have to agree on things..in my books politeness goes a long way..My parent's used to tell me as a child that a kind word opens the kings door=meaning a kind word works like magic...Besides..aren't we Christians after all..

The ladies I'm talking about here are none others then Rebbeka Returns-Elizabeth and HeartForJehu-Rhonda..Was appalled to read they were being rebuked for not standing up for the truth..Poor Yendor-Rod got it too.The blog I'm reffering to is..It's OK not to be always nice..IS IT..??

It's good to be polite to everyone yes..BUT respect is different, it should be earned..Well I feel thesee two Christlike Ladies have earned it fair and square.Wouldn't you agree..Hope so since you guys have been here lots longer than me..and what I saw in them was nothing less but politeness, love and 'respect' even to those that are not worthy of it.I responded 2x rebuking someone (regardless of what he thinks of me being a cult member I spoke with love..He's my brother and I love him) seems the blog owner didn't like what I said and deleted it..which btw is OK.
At the top of my head I can think of 5 ladies for now that are a prime example...and they have been told off...
Please lets all TRY to see the good in 1 another..

Maybe they will be called 'THE CULT DEFENDERS'...
What chance do I have then ...as a CULT..!!

Finally was able to book my airfare 2day. Jul 20, 2009 9:56 am

As usual satan had darts aiming my way from all sides for a long time but specially for the last 2months.
As hard as I tried to make reservation and pay for my airfare to Manila, getting ridiculous quotes from $ 5 .ooo thou to 3 then 2,my girls both sick again with the flu, running to do errands, shopping, paying bills, cooking, cleaning, washing etc.Sunday my time was on the net and fone almost till midnight..At 11'45 pm I got a great del of just $ 1.161 50 scents.During that time I was quoted 3 diff/ prices. They were telling me it was fluctuating..?? During those trial times I did wonder if It was meant to be,but said it must be satan doing is utmost best to discouraged me from going, and was just about ready to decide not to go when all of a sudden God intervened.

My mother happened to call us to see how we're doing and I shared my great news with her ,expecting her to be pleased with my decision specially knowing it was my dream ever since I was a little girl. What I thought was going to be gladness turned out to be a lot of anger and disappointment which got me angry and hurt.My mother needed money to do some repairs to one of the houses back home and was expecting me to give, which I didn't have a problem with but felt Gods work was-is much more important. Then she added that we'll be the laughing stock of ppl since my family is highly respected...Big deal so what..Not living to please others or what they think. My 24 year old was appalled at my mothers anger towards me since she knew that this was my dream secretly called my mother telling her that she was to harsh with me and why she's never like this with my sister.Dani put her loving arms around me ans said..;mom you know your doing the right thing and don't understand grandma doing this to you..Bless her lil heart for always saying the right thing to sooth me..

Now it's almost 2 weeks till the 4th of aug and we're short $ 4 thousand us dollars..If any of you feel led by the Holy Spirit to pray please do so.It's the work of God and am sure he'll provide like He always does.

Th ere's about 5 in other states only me in Sydney..Thank God I have 25 real good friends that need to be approached by me to help out.My doctor prescribed vaccines that cost me very close to $800 hundred just to be on the safe side.Have loads to do and not much energy feel totally burned out.(haven't taken my vitamins like I was supposed to and my immune is very low.

If you have few moments to spare please pray not just fort the funds but for my energy as there's lots for me to do while I'm there..Thanking you all inadvance..BTW..anthing over $ 2 bucks is tax deductible if any one feels impressed to donate and a receipt will be issued by our minister or treasurer.
