A Follower of Christ
  
Nobody worries about Christ as long as he can be kept shut up in
churches. He is quite safe inside. But there is always trouble
if you try and let him out.

A Christian……..a follower of Christ……how do you follow Christ? How do you love Christ? Whose will………His will? How do you hear Him when He speaks? Do you hear Him? Do you listen?

Which are you…….one like the woman caught in adultery……..or the prideful scorner hurling stones?

Are you like the humble tax collector who comes before God admitting your brokenness……….or are you like the Pharisee…..better than the broken one?

Are you saved? You know the beginning…….you know the ending…….but what comes between?

What does this mean?
Luk 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

What does it mean to you?

I have to admit, there is nothing easy in being a follower of Christ. It’s easy being saved, easy reading the Bible, going to church, praying but when it comes to actually living our belief and faith……we fail miserably.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I have taken these two verses to heart in a big way. Because being a follower of Christ is sometimes burdensome. Giving up your desires for His desires, asking for His will in your life as opposed to your own….this is not an easy thing. But He equips us, and gives us the strength we need to walk the walk with Him.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

When you ask God to create in you a clean heart…….it means sometimes He has to break you down, bring you to your knees……..and it hurts! Coming face to face with God with all your brokenness has got to be one of the most painful things you will ever do….but I can tell you from the depth of my heart that it is the most spirit refreshing thing you will ever do!

The closer you draw to God, the lonlier you feel as a Christian. There is nothing sadder than talking with a fellow believer about the wonders of the Holy Spirit, the amazing grace of God, and they look at you with glazed eyes. I know this because I too once stood with glazed eyes, just “not getting it”. When I talk about listening to His Word while I sleep, or listening to His Word on my IPOD as I walk, other Christians look at me as though I am whacko!

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

What does that verse mean to you? It means exactly what it says to me.

And if we are mocked for loving God this way……….who is being mocked……is it me………is it God’s work in me……..is it God Himself?

This is an article about a young man who has gone off the rails, as a result of drugs. The young man is also Eli's nephew.

When he was nine years old, he gave his life to the Lord, but as with a lot of teens, he walked away from the God who loves him and this is the end result. His name is Nick and he is only 18 yrs old.

Eli has asked me to copy and paste this news bulletin, and pleads with you to pray for Nick and for the whole family as they deal with this tragedy.

Violence spree has cops afraid for public

POLICE are worried an 18-year-old Gold Coast youth's alleged sudden rash of violent acts may result in someone being seriously injured if he is not caught quickly.

Nicholas L is wanted on three arrest warrants and in his latest alleged attack police say he held a pair of open scissors to the throat of a Mermaid Waters man, then cut the man deeply on his arm and forehead during an armed robbery at the weekend.

Detective Senior Constable Michael Froggett, from Burleigh Heads CIB, said Mr L had a minor criminal history a few months ago, but now was wanted in connection with two armed robberies in less than a fortnight.

"We are concerned that someone could be seriously injured and the escalation to attacks involving weapons is also alarming," he said. "L must not be approached by the public because he is likely to be armed and he will assault anyone to escape."

In the latest alleged attack, police say Mr L and another male, both armed with scissors, broke into an Alexandra Avenue flat rented by Cameron Speer, 21, and his girlfriend while the couple were sleeping early on Sunday.

"One of them climbed in the kitchen window and then he let the other one in the front door while my girlfriend's three nephews, aged 7, 9 and 14, slept on the lounge room floor on a sleepover," said Mr Speer.

"I got up to go to the toilet at 12.40am -- I saw this man standing in the passageway and the next thing I had these scissors at my throat and I could feel the blades, then the other guy went into the bedroom where my girlfriend was and I just lost it."

The pair fell to the floor and fought in the bathroom and during the struggle Mr Speer received a deep cut to his right arm that required 12 stitches and another near his right ear that also required stitching.

While they were fighting the second robber was waving scissors at the terrified girlfriend, screaming at her not to move while her three young nephews were 'hysterical' in the lounge room.

The robbers finally left, stealing a wallet and a digital camera from the house.

Det Sen-Constable Froggett alleged Mr L approached two school boys sitting at a Mudgeeraba bus stop on April 30 and demanded money while wearing a knuckle-duster fitted with a blade.

"One of them handed him $55 and a good Samaritan came to see what was happening and he was punched by L who then drove off," he said.

On February 22, Mr L and another man allegedly crowded around a car driven by a female in a Worongary cul de sac.

" L tried to grab the car keys and when that failed he hurled a rock through the driver's window, striking the female driver on the back of her head and momentarily dazing her," said Det Sen-Constable Froggett.

He said Mr L had been living out of his car which police now had.

"He has little to do with his parents now and his behaviour has changed since he has been hanging out with new people and we need to get him off the streets," he said.

The Glass Half Empty Can Make You Sick? May 12, 2008 6:18 pm

I generally don't see myself as a glass half empty kind of woman, but lately, while I've been so kind of down, I've noticed that it is affecting me physically too.

I've been getting a lot of tummy upsets, my face has lost it's usual glow, my neck hurts, my back hurts, I get dizzy spells.....

There is a woman at my workplace, who, for as long as I've known her has been a very negative person. I've always wondered why,coz she has a husband who adores her, no financial problems, her daughter goes to one of the best private schools, she has a lot of vacations etc etc. This woman is obviously not a happy person coz it shows in the way she treats people...which is in a mean spirited, nasty way. She rarely smiles, and her general attitude is of a glass half empty person. In the last few years I've watched her health deteriorate. She was always a fit woman, doing regular workouts, she rides a bike as a sport....yet she is getting a lot of health problems, which in turn are making her even harder to be around!

So I have come to the conclusion, that if you look at life with a glass half empty attitude, it's just got to make you sick, right?

I think I'm going to do some stuff for myself to build up my spirit, get some happy endorphins into me! So got any ideas how to get "me" back to my usual chipper self?????

If you haven't seen this post, go check it out......Beth is a woman of great wisdom. A woman who has been to the depths and yet risen to the surface, never once losing her sight of the goal....Jesus.

To every woman......never lose sight of the love God has for you, and never lose sight of what He desires for you.....if you want to know how to be loved, measure it by the the love Jesus gives you....that is how a woman should be loved!

To every man.....You have a responsibility as a Man of God....love your woman the way Christ loves His church....that is what He requires of you.....and in return you will have love and devotion for the man you are!

As I was getting stuck into carrot cake with my friend Lorraine yesterday, I was lamenting about the state of my life right now.

Where is God leading me?
Why does it hurt so bad?
blah blah blah!

Through it all, my friend had this silly grin on her face as she let me rattle on. She let me go through the motions, and then she asked me this question:

"If someone asked you this time last year what your gifts were, what would you have told them?"

"Easy", I answered, "acting and singing"

Then she said something that stopped me in my tracks....

"Did you ever imagine you would be writing a book?"



The answer is NO! Then she took me on a journey through the last twelve months. This is my closest friend, she knows every inhalation and exhalation I take....

The work God was doing in me escalated rapidly in the last twelve months

I discovered the intimate wonder of the Holy Spirit

I discovered the joy of relationship with Jesus

I discovered the thrill of soaking in His Word

I discovered the excitement of intimate worship

I discovered what happens when you draw near to God

All this and so much more.....

And now He wants me to tell others!

So what does He do? He gives me the ability to write!

Do you know what I have noticed lately? I use words I never usually do. Sometimes I write a word into a sentence and I have to check the dictionary to make sure it's the right word for what I am describing...and I find it is!! And then I think, how did I know that????

As I am floundering, lost in a sea of pain, I have missed the wonders that God is doing in my life.

As I have been pleading with Him to show me what to do, where to go, how do I get there, what am I missing......

He has been showing me all along, and I didn't even realise it!

Nothing happens for nothing, God does not allow us to suffer pointlessly. He uses that suffering to make something wonderful.

HE MAKES SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING!

He gave me three words recently: FAITH, OBEDIENCE, TRUST

I failed miserably on all three......

So I will write my book for Him. I don't know what the end result will be..

I don't know if the things I hope for will ever happen...

I don't know if what I have lost will one day be restored to me..

I don't know much about anything...

This was what I read this morning:

Deu 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

I feel a little bit like Peter right now...stepping out of the boat.....

Well my whine is this.......

Here I am, it's evening, I'm home....bored....ho hum...want to check out blogs....checked a lot....

Here's the thing....

Most of you bloggers are from the US and right now it's early morning, or even earlier, depending on which coast you live on, or in the middle..whatever...well my point is.....you Americans are all still blinkin asleep!!

THAT REALLY SUCKS!!

HURRY UP AND WAKE UP AND START BLOGGING!!

You know what sucks even more?

By the time you are waking up, I am heading to bed....there is something very wrong in this equation!

How about you all take up a collection and get me over to the US so that we can blog at the same time?

Yes, I know, this post is quite meaningless...but I'm bored!

Wish Dunk would wake up so I could annoy him!!

I went out for coffee with my friend, Lorraine today...

We got fired up, talking about diets and how we really have to lose some pounds, get fit blah blah blah!!

So we parked the car one end of town and walked to the cafe on the other end of town, high heeled boots on and all!!! Yup we were determined, we were armed and dangerous, two women on a brand new health kick!

So we decided that on the diet we were going on, we would have a naughty day once every two weeks. That way we would not feel deprived. Smart thinking, yes?

We got to the cafe and ordered our capacchinos....oh and a large piece of....um....carrot cake...

Now stop smirking...we decided this was our naughty day, ok?

Listen, I'm not trying to justify our actions, no way, not trying to make excuses here....

but do you know how tough it is walking from one end of town to the other in high heeled boots?

Ok so I dont live in that big a town....

Now stop picking on me

You would have done the same thing you know!!

Well you would have if you were with us anyhow!!

Do you have ANY IDEA how yummy carrot cake is???? Get real....it has that cream cheese frosting to die for....oh please.....why am I even trying...as if you would believe me anyways!

So what have you eaten today that's naughty????
