A Follower of Christ
  
Nobody worries about Christ as long as he can be kept shut up in
churches. He is quite safe inside. But there is always trouble

A Christian……..a follower of Christ……how do you follow Christ? How do you love Christ? Whose will………His will? How do you hear Him when He speaks? Do you hear Him? Do you listen?

Which are you…….one like the woman caught in adultery……..or the prideful scorner hurling stones?

Are you like the humble tax collector who comes before God admitting your brokenness……….or are you like the Pharisee…..better than the broken one?

Are you saved? You know the beginning…….you know the ending…….but what comes between?

What does this mean?
Luk 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

What does it mean to you?

I have to admit, there is nothing easy in being a follower of Christ. It’s easy being saved, easy reading the Bible, going to church, praying but when it comes to actually living our belief and faith……we fail miserably.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I have taken these two verses to heart in a big way. Because being a follower of Christ is sometimes burdensome. Giving up your desires for His desires, asking for His will in your life as opposed to your own….this is not an easy thing. But He equips us, and gives us the strength we need to walk the walk with Him.

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

When you ask God to create in you a clean heart…….it means sometimes He has to break you down, bring you to your knees……..and it hurts! Coming face to face with God with all your brokenness has got to be one of the most painful things you will ever do….but I can tell you from the depth of my heart that it is the most spirit refreshing thing you will ever do!

The closer you draw to God, the lonlier you feel as a Christian. There is nothing sadder than talking with a fellow believer about the wonders of the Holy Spirit, the amazing grace of God, and they look at you with glazed eyes. I know this because I too once stood with glazed eyes, just “not getting it”. When I talk about listening to His Word while I sleep, or listening to His Word on my IPOD as I walk, other Christians look at me as though I am whacko!

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

What does that verse mean to you? It means exactly what it says to me.

And if we are mocked for loving God this way……….who is being mocked……is it me………is it God’s work in me……..is it God Himself?

This was the header of my devotion this morning. The reading was in Hebrews and it kind of impacted me so I want to share...

We've been talking a lot lately about judging, and about casting the first stone etc.

Today's reading made me look at things from a whole new perspective. I have been kind of guilty lately of drawing my own conclusions regarding people in my personal life.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Heb 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

We draw our own conclusions about a person's thoughts and feelings, doing it out of our knowledge of the person, how we perceive them etc. There are times of course when we are spiritually discerning enough to hit the mark, but most times we know diddly squat about what a person is feeling in their heart.

It brought me up short, reading these verses. What I see, isn't necessarily the same things God sees. He sees our thoughts, our feelings, our hearts. It's all laid bare for Him, and there is nothing we can do to hide it from Him.

It's a good thing to keep in mind when we begin to perceive the thoughts of another, based on their actions. The actions may be less than perfect, but the heart may show something totally different.

To see things in a Christlike way....not an easy thing to do...but something to strive for![/SIZE]

Guess when I taught my son the value of sharing, he took it seriously!!

I was doing so well....while others around me were dropping like flies, I was determined NO PLAGUE SHALL ENTER MY TENT!!

Yup....I got it....sniffling, throat sore, head hurting, eyes burning......ears hurting....

So here we are, two sickies, both looking and feeling sorry for ourselves.....*sigh*

ATISHOO!! s'cuse me!

I need chicken soup....I need chocolate...I need vicks...I need a handsome man at my beck and call....

I have been battling with God lately....wanting to know where He is leading me, what He is leading me to etc etc

He already gave me what I needed to know...

But I wanted more!!!

These are key words He has given me since the start of this year.....

You are entering the promised land I have for you
Truth no matter what the cost
Wait
The battle is not yours
Wait
Wait
Wait.......

There have been other things but for now that is between God and me, but the point I am making is, God has not been silent! I have begged for revelation, for direction and He has given it to me...but I have become so confused and so lost in my confusion...I failed to see what was in front of my face all along!

Last night as I was praying, I felt His love envelop me, I felt angels around me, ministering to me...

Whatever is before me....God has it covered.

YOU GIVE OUT, I WILL REFILL

Those were also words He gave me...and perhaps that is all He requires of me for now.

It doesn't matter if I don't understand the mish mash and confusion that has become my life right now. What He has been trying to make me understand is that these things are not in my control..the battle is clearly not mine to fight.

Sometimes, even without realizing it, we take matters into our own hands, we think we know more than we really do. We don't!!!

This might sound crazy...but I love what He does with me!! I love the way He allows me to unfold, to go to the depths, to delve into the secret places of Him, and to discover through pain....His soverignity.

See that rose in my pic? A few days after my birthday, the weather got so hot my roses wilted and died. I was devastated...they never even got to open up. I am like that rose....BUT...when things get hot, I am tended to by the Gardener. I didn't know what to do to stop my roses from dying. But He knows what to do to keep me from dying....and I will open up like a rose should, and His beauty in all it's majestic splendour will be seen in me!

Lord, sometimes we just don't understand the why's and the when's, but no matter what, You meet us in the middle of our circumstances.
Thank You....for it all, for the struggles, for the joys.......there is nothing meaningless when You are in the centre of our lives.
Thank You for the blessings we do see, thank You for the ones we don't see.
Thank You for Your good and perfect will...remind us, remind me that this is Your show, not ours, not mine.
Amen.
