Interesting Quotes By Native Americans Mar 21, 2009 5:33 am

I have a friend who is of Native American descent and he was telling me about his ancestors and also about this website:
first people dot us It was very interesting and informative because mostly what I've learned about Native Americans in school was propaganda. Also listening to some of these men speak it clearly shows you that then as well as now,in order to be effective ambassadors for Christ we must practice what we preach by action and deed,in spirit and truth as well as words. Words alone can be misconstrued as one can see by the second from last post.Never- the- less when God saves,He moves effectively and Christianity spread pretty fast through the Native American people at and after this time.

Some of our chiefs make the claim that the land belongs to us.
It is not what the great spirit told me.He told me that the lands belong to Him,that no people owns the land;that I was not to forget to tell this to the white people when I met them in council.
Kanekuk - Kickapoo

No tribe has the right to sell even to each other, much less to strangers.Sell a country! Why not sell the air,the great sea as well as the earth?Didn't the great spirit make them all for the use of His children?
Tecumseh - Shawnee

What white man can say I ever stole his land or a penny of his money?Yet they say I am a thief.
What white woman, however lonely, was ever captive or insulted by me?Yet they say I am a bad Indian.
What white man has ever seen me drunk?
Who has ever come to me hungry and left me unfed?Who has ever seen me beat my wives or abuse my children? What law have I broken?
Is it wrong of me to love my own?Is it wicked for me because my skin is red?Because I am a Sioux?Because I was born where my Father lived?Because I would die for my people and my country?

If the great spirit has desired me to be a white man he would
have made me so in the first place. He put in your heart certain wishes and plans;in my heart he put other and different desires.

Sitting Bull - Teton Sioux

Brother,we have been told that you have been preaching to the white people in this place. These people are our neighbors. We are acquainted with them.We will wait a little while and see what affect your preaching has upon them.If we find it does them good and makes them honest and less disposed to cheat us,we will then
consider again becoming Christians.

Brother you say their is but one way to worship and serve the great spirit,if there is but one religion, why do you white people differ so much about it?Why not all agreed,as you can all read the Book?
Red Jacket{Sogoyewapha} - Seneca

The white man who is our agent is so stingy that he carries a linen rag in his pocket into which to blow his nose, for fear he might blow away something of value.
Piapot - Cree Chief

Something is wrong with the white mens council. When the Micmac people used to have council, the old men would speak and tell the young men what to do-and the young men would listen and do what
the old men told them to do.The white men have changed that too:
Now the young men speak, and the old men listen.I believe the Micmac council was far better.
Peter Paul 1805

The English in general are a noble, generous minded people, free to act and free to think. They very much pride themselves on their
civil and religious privileges;on their learning, generosity,
manufacturing and commerce, and they think that no other man is equal to them.
No nation,I think can be more fond of novelties than the English;
they gaze upon foreigner as if they had just dropped down from the moon...
They are truly industrious, and in general, very honest and upright. But there close attention to business procedures,I think,
too much wordly-mindedness,and hence they forget to think enough
about their souls and their God.
Their motto seems to be"money, money, get money, get rich and be a gentleman".With this sentiment, they fly about in every direction
like a swarm of bees,in search of treasure that lies so near to
their hearts.
Peter Jones{Kahkewaquonaby"Sacred Waving Feathers}Ojibwe

Much has been said of the want of what you term"civilization"
among the Indians.many proposals have been made to us to adopt your laws, your religion, your manners, and your customs. We do not
see the propriety of such a reformation.
We should be better pleased if we could actually see the good
effects of these doctrines in your own practices rather than
hearing you talk about them,or reading your newspaper on such
subjects.
Old Tassel - Cherokee

Once when I was in Victoria I saw a very large house. They told me it was a bank and that the white men place their money there
to be taken care of,and that by and by,they got it back, with
interest.
We are Indians and we have no such bank;but when we have plenty of money or blankets,we give them away to other chiefs and people, and by and by they return them, with interest, and our hearts feel good. Our way of giving is our bank.
Maquinna - Nootka Chief

We send our little Indian boys and girls to school and when they come back talking English, they come back swearing.Their is no swear word in the Indian languages, and I haven't yet learned to
swear.
Gertrude S. Bonnin - Yankton Sioux

You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight into our hearts.
Cochise - Chiricahua Chief

Look at me- I am poor and naked, but I am the chief of the nation.we do not want riches, but we want to train our children right.Riches will do us no good.We could not take them with us
to the other world. We do not want riches. We want peace and love.

Chief Red Cloud - Sioux

We do not want churches because they will teach us to quarrel with God,as the Catholics and Protestants do.We do not want to learn that.
We may quarrel with men sometimes about things on earth but we never quarrel about God.We do want to learn that.

I believe much trouble and blood would be saved if we opened our hearts more.I will tell you in my way how the Indians see things. The white man has more words to tell you how they look to him,but it does not require many words to speak the truth.
Chief Joseph - Nez Perce

How smooth must be the language of the whites, when they can make right look wrong, and wrong look like right.

Here for the first time,I have touched the goose quill to the treaty, not knowing however, that by that act I consented to give away my village!Had that been explained to me I should have opposed it and never would have signed there treaty.
What do we know of this manner of the laws and customs of the white people? They might buy our bodies for dissection and we would touch the goose quill to confirm it,without knowing what we
were doing. This was the case with myself and my people touching the goose quill for the very first time.We can only judge what is proper and right by our standard of right and wrong which differs widely from the whites,if I have been correctly informed.
The whites,if I have been correctly informed. The whites may do bad all their lives, and then,if they are sorry for it when they are about to die,all is well!
Black Hawk - Sauk

When it comes time to die,be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death,so when their time comes they weep
and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again
in a different way.Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
Chief Aupumut - Mohican

Through Preaching And Prayer Mar 14, 2009 3:26 am

Through Preaching And Prayer

We know God is all powerful and has the freedom and the sovereign right to save any and all lost sinners.Well then if one doesn't believe in election why pray for a lost soul at all?
If one doesn't believe in the sovereignty of God in election then how can one faithfully and consistently pray that God will actually save lost sinners we pray for?

If we have a relative, lets say,who doesn't believe in Christ and we pray"Lord please save my son/daughter,please Lord do whatever it takes!" we have to believe God has the right and power to save unbelieving, unrepentant, hardened sinners.
God has the right to intrude upon a persons rebellion
and overcome it,and draw that person effectively to Him.That is
in essence election.

But if one don't believe in Gods right to determine ones election and conversion then how can one consistently pray that it be done?If its all about a persons own self-determination and not Gods election whats the point in praying for them?If God can change their heart, surely He can change their mind and draw them effectively to faith and salvation through the Holy Spirits prompting so that they too become Gods elect. It is not in the hands of man who will be saved and who will inhabit the kingdom of heaven its in the hands of God.If you ask God to save someone He is the one who actually saves them through Christ Our Lord.

So the next time you pray for someone to get saved know that God has the power and the right to take away that persons self-determination as He makes it His determination that their eyes and hearts are opened to the Gospels Good News so that they may come to Christ and be saved.

And we have confidence by faith that God not only hears our prayer but He acts as well according to the riches of His glory.

Paul The Apostle Mar 10, 2009 8:58 pm

Paul An Apostle Of Christ

Paul originally Saul was a Jew from Taurus who was very educated, respected and influential in his sphere of friends, acquaintances. We know that he was there when Steven was stoned & although he never met Jesus,he certainly knew about Him & the early believers who believed in Jesus & followed his Way.
Paul hunted and persecuted Christians relentlessly til on the Damascus road Paul himself was struck down by God,chastised and was blinded by the Lord.Jesus told Paul to go see a man named Ananias so he could be healed.Ananias also doubted{Acts9:14-15}but
God Himself tested to the validity of Paul's conversion.

Also Acts9,which was written by Luke who had traveled with Paul at times and was a physician and a well-respected person at that time states in the Bible that he wrote from the testimony of
eyewitnesses also.So we have Jesus,Paul, his traveling companions,
Ananias, and Luke who testifies to the great changes in Paul's character and belief.

Paul immediately after conversion was with the
Damascus believers who at first were hesitant to accept him but saw with their own eyes and spirit that God be with him.Paul immediately learns all he could know about Jesus from the believers and eyewitnesses of Christ. Then Paul immediately goes out to preach the Gospel as earnestly if not more, than he had been persecuting the "Christians".
Paul's fruit also attests to his conversion.

And don't forget when Paul goes to Jerusalem the disciples are
more than a bit hesitant to welcome him into the fold but Barnabas a credible person, stuck up for him. After Paul spoke in front of the Pharisees they were convinced beyond doubt that he was truly converted and his Damascus Road experience was real and from God.

So if you can't believe Paul then you can't believe Luke who testified about him and you can't believe Matthew because he is another disciple mentioned in the Bible who believed Paul and John and Jude also.So what are we left with? Are Matthew,Luke and John false witnesses as well?Do you see the absurdity in that?

Paul performed miracles in the name of Christ,he testified to the validity of the Gospel,he was converted in Christs name, and knew and witnessed with the Apostles of Christ,he also bore fruit. If you don't believe the disciples testimony about Paul then why believe their testimony about Jesus?

Disbelief in Paul's testimony, words and validity make the New Testament no testament at all because it all begins to unravel then. You either believe all of what the Bible says as the inspired Word of God,or you are not just a hypocrite but a fool as well.
Paul was an Apostle of Christ. The other apostles and saints are not liars, the New Testament is a true Testament and Gods Word is faithful.

Grace Is Power Not Just Pardon

Gods pleasure in obedience is good news because His commandments are not too hard for us.

Jesus put it this way,

Matthew11:28-30
"Come to me,all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you,and learn from me;for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

This does not mean their is no yoke and no burden. It means there is something about Jesus that makes His demands{even when they sever us from home, wealth and life itself}"light" and"easy".
The Apostle John found this to be true in practice for many decades, and then wrote:

1John5:3
This is the love of God,that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

Gods pleasure in obedience is good news because the obedience He loves is the obedience of faith.

This concept is so widely misunderstood today that some people cannot see how faith AND obedience are necessarily connected as root and branch. So you often find in many churches and ministries today, the cultivation of an implicit two stage Christianity:a faith stage and then{maybe}an obedience stage.
But this is not the way the Bible pictures the life of faith. The separation of faith and obedience,as though faith were necessary
for salvation and obedience optional,is a mistake owing to a misunderstanding of what faith really is.

True saving faith is not the kind of belief in the facts of the Gospel that leaves the heart and life unchanged. If it were, then Gods pleasure in obedience would then indeed be bad news.He would be saying that we are saved by faith, and then,to please Him
with obedience,we must move beyond faith to something else in order to produce good behavior.

The good news is that saving faith is by it's nature a life changing power.

Obedience is the fruit of faith

Saving faith has an intrinsic power to produce fruit through the Holy Spirit.

James2:17
Even so faith,if it has no works,is dead, being by itself.

The good news is not that obedience is not crucial, but that faith is the only way to obey, and this obedience of faith is the only kind God approves.

Grace Is Power Not Just Pardon

Grace is not simply leniency when we have sinned.Grace is the enabling gift of God not to sin.

1Corinthians15:10
By the grace of God I am what I am,and His grace toward me did not prove vain;but I labored harder than all of them, yet not I,but the grace of God which is with me.

Grace is not simply the pardon of Paul's sins,it is also the power to press on in obedience.Therefore the effort we make to obey God is not an effort done in our own strength,but in the strength which God supplies through the Holy Spirit,that in everything God may get the glory.{1Peter4:11}

And doing something by relying on the strength God supplies means doing it by faith. This is according to the grace of God through Christ.

God chose you to be saved through sanctification through belief in the truth.Obedience to Christ is the necessary result of true faith.

From God you are in Christ.

John10:27-29
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they FOLLOW ME;and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.My Father, who has given them to me,is greater than all,and no one is able to snatch
them out of the Fathers hand.

God has chosen a people for Himself. These are His sheep. He then gives them to the Son so that they can be saved by faith in Him.

When the Holy Spirit enters our lives Gods power through Christ Our Lord, will be imparted to us and we will follow what He commands.

The Mystery Revealed ! Christ In You,The Hope Of Glory.. Mar 3, 2009 4:37 am

1Corinthians1:23
We preach Christ crucified,to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness.

God has not left us in the dark but has revealed all we need to know in the Bible. And there is no hidden mystery we need to uncover further or decode as Christians than that which is plainly revealed to us in Gods word and by His spirit. It is the gospel of Christ unto salvation.

John3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believeth in Him,shall not perish but have everlasting life.

1Corinthians2-8
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.

Romans16:25
Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to the Gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revealation of the mystery, which was kept secret before the world began.

Collosians1:26-27
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations but know is made manifest to his saints; To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles;which is Christ in you,the hope of glory.

The word of the cross is the power of God to save the lost; And it reveals how God forgives sinners and what sinners must do to
receive Gods forgiveness.

So what exactly is the mystery?
That the Lord Jesus Christ takes up permanent residence in you the moment you repent and trust in Him as your Saviour.

Christ in you,the hope of glory.

God Himself indwells in each believer!

Jesus Has Ordained You To Do Mighty Works For Him

John15:16
Ye have not chosen me,but I have chosen you,and ordained you,
that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name,He may give it to you.

Jesus is telling you He chose you.WHY?Because He wanted to choose you and love you.He willingly chose you not only for your sake but also He ordained you and gave you the authority to
minister for Him.He has entrusted you with authority!Imagine that!

He ordained you to bring forth fruit. You are to bring in a harvest for Him.A harvest of what? You might say?

If you are given the gift of evangelism;a harvest of souls;if you are given the gift of edifying;then you will bring in a harvest of strengthened Christians. There is no limit to the harvest that Jesus's ordained saints can bring in.You are fully equipped and have all the power in Jesus name to do this.Whatever you ask God for in Jesus name you will receive as the Lord works through you and God will get the glory.

We must commit our lives to God and with His power and might
walk on the path He has set for us and called us to do.We are to be used by Him to do mighty works in His name.
So don't get discouraged or give up because you don't see instant results. You believe in Him by faith so carry that faith
and He will bring it to fruitation.

United Nations Schemes To Make Christians Criminals???? Feb 28, 2009 3:15 am
Mood: watchful, wary and wise, 307 Views

There seems to be a lot more coming down the pike worldwide that will make all our denominational grievances demand unity.

2009 World Net Daily

Dozens of nations dominated by Islam are once again pressing the United Nations to adopt an anti-defamation plan that would make Christians criminal under international law, according to a
United States orginization that has launched a campaign to defend
freedom of religion worldwide.
"Around the world Christians are being increasingly targeted, and even persecuted for their religious beliefs. Now,one of the largest organizations in the United Nations is pushing to make a bad situation even worse by promoting anti-Christian bigotry",the American Center For Law And Justice said yesterday in announcing its petition drive.
This discrimination is"wrapped in the guise of a U.N.resolution
called"Combating Defamation Of Religions",the announcement said.
We must put an immediate end to this recent, dangerous attack on
faith that attempts to criminalize Christianity.
The "anti-defamation"plan has been submitted to the U.N.repeatedly since about 1999 starting out as a plan to ban
"defamation"of Islam and later changed to refer to religions",
officials said.It is being pushed by the 57 member Organization
of the Islamic Conference nations, which has adopted the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam",which states that all rights are subject to sharia law and makes sharia law the ONLY
source of reference for human rights.

The ACLJ petition which is to be delivered to the United Nations
High Commissioner on Human Rights, already has collected more than
23,000 names in just a brief online existence.
The ACLJ's European division, the European Center For law and Justice, also has launched its work on the issue. It submitted arguements last month to the U.N.in opposition to the proposal
to institute sharia based standards around the globe.
The position of the ECLJ in regards to the issue of"defamation
of religion"resolutions,as they have been introduced at the U.N.
Human Rights Council and General Assembly,is that they are in direct violation of international law concerning the rights to freedom of religion and expression",the organizations brief said.

The"defamation of religion"resolutions establish as the primary focus and concern the protection of ideas and religions generally, rather than protecting the rights of individuals to
practice their religion, which is the chief purpose of international religious freedom law.
Furthermore"defamation of religion"replaces the existing
objective criterion of limitations on speech where there is an intent to incite hatred or violence against religious believers
with a subjective criterion that considers whether the religion
or its believers feel offended by the speech",the group continued.

"Interestingly,in nations following Islam, the present practice is to use such laws to protect Islam and to attack religious minorities with penalties up to and including execution",the brief noted.
"What should be most disconcerting to the international community
is that laws based on the concept of"defamation of religion"actually help to create a climate of violence',the arguement explained.
For example just two months ago an Afghanistan court following Islam sentenced to death a 23 year old apprentice journalist who had downloaded an article from an Iranian website and brought it to his class,the EClJ said.Other instances include;

Award winning author Mark Steyn has been summoned to appear before Two Canadian Human Rights Commissions for vague allegations of subjecting Canadian Muslims to "hatred and contempt"for comments in his book,"America Alone"the group said.

In Pakistan 15 people were accused of blasphemy against Islam
during the first four months of the past year alone.

In Saudi Arabia a teacher was sentenced to 3 years in prison plus 300 lashes for expressing his views in a classroom.

In the United kingdom, police announced plans to arrest a blogger for "anti-Muslim" statements.

In the United States,a plaintiff sued his interNet service provider for refusing to"prevent participants in an online chat room from posting or submitting harassing comments that blasphemied and defamed plaintiffs Islamic religion".

The ECLJ said,"The implementation of domestic laws to combat defamation of religion in many OIC countries reveals a selective and arbitrary enforcement toward religious minorities, who are most often Christians. Those violations are frequently punishable by the death penalty. The newest"anti-defamation"plan was submitted in march. It specifically cites a declaration"adopted by the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers"in a meeting in Islamabad which condemned the growing trend of 'Islamophobia'and
systematic discrimination against adherents of Islam.

It goes on to cite a wide range of practices that target Islam but does not mention any other religions and urges all nations to provide adequate protection against acts of hatred and discrimination.

According to published reports the U.N.Commission on Human Rights 53 members voted to adopt the resolution earlier this year with opposition from the United States and the European Union.

There attempting to pass a sinister resolution that is nothing more than blatant religious bigotry, the ACLJ said in its petition.THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND.THIS RADICAL PROPOSAL WOULD OUTLAW CHRISTIANITY.IT WOULD MAKE THE PROCLAMATION OF YOUR FAITH AN INTERNATIONAL CRIME.

In his recent dissent on the Supreme Courts ruling on Guantanomo
Bay,Justice Scalia said,"America is at war with radical Islamists.Never has this rung more true than today.Never have
Christians been more targeted for their religious beliefs. And never have we faced a more dangerous threat than the one posed by the OIC.

The United State Department has also found the proposal unpatable.

Sung to the tune of,
"I Don't Need Anyone But You"from 'Annie'.

I Can Do Anything With You!

Together at last!
Together forever!
We're tying a knot,
They never can sever!

I just need sonshine now
To turn my skies at blue

I Can Do Anything With You!

You've wrapped me around
Your beautiful Spirit
You've made life a song
You've made me a singer

And whats that awesome song
You always sing to me
"I was born to die
so you could live"

I Can Do Anything With You!

Yesterday was plain awful{for me}
"You can say that again"
Yesterday was plain awful{for me}

But that's

not now

That's then!

I was poor as a mouse
Ha! Ha!
Now I'm richer than Midas

And nothing at all
Shall ever divide us!
And if tomorrow
I should be in shackles too-

I Can Do Anything,Anything,
I Can Do Anything With You!

Philippians4:13
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Why We Need A Lawyer Feb 16, 2009 12:52 am

Why We Need A Lawyer

Romans3:23
All have sinned and have come short of the glory of God.

Psalm14:3
There is none righteous,no not one.

A lawyer is a capable advocate or someone who supports and sticks up for you while having your best interests at heart.
We've all seen or heard how only a fool who thinks he/she knows everything would stand before a judge unprepared and with no
counsel. No matter how eloquent and smart the person thinks they are, they continue digging their grave the more they talk and are considered a buffoon by those who witness such a sad spectacle.

God is the discerner of the thoughts and intents of a mans heart and nothing escapes His notice. He is totally aware of all our selfish thoughts words and deeds even when they escape our notice. On the day of judgment God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ. We will not have any excuses because we already know what God expects from us and not one person has lived up to that expectation.

God is Holy,Holy,Holy, but He is also wonderfully merciful and loving. He has not abandoned us in our desperate situation but has given us a perfect advocate in Jesus Christ.

John3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God Almighty has provided us the perfect lawyer for free, for all who turn from their sin, confess their guilt and beg for mercy.

1John1:1-2
My little children, these things I write to you that you may not sin.And if anyone sins we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous and He Himself is the propitiation
for our sins.

The word advocate{here}means "pleader" or"counselor"which is the same as lawyer.Jesus Christ paid the penalty of guilt for each of His clients by going to the cross and shedding His blood as God appointed Him to do in order to maintain Gods perfect justice.

I wonder how many lawyers today would be willing to take a bullet if someone pulled a gun on their client in court knowing full well the person they are defending is guilty, guilty, guilty!

Just as God states in Psalm14:1
"The fool has said in His heart,'There is no God';
so too would one be a fool to defend oneself alone with no just and perfectly sinless advocate.

BUT without a terrible cost to us,if we turn from our sins and confess them and trust in Jesus Christ alone,He will become our advocate and we will eternally be free from condemnation.

Thats why we need a lawyer.

We've already been arraigned.Call upon the Lord Jesus to be your advocate before your trial date is due.

"Your Honor may I approach the bench?"
"No,but your advocate Jesus Christ may approach and proceed".

Romans5:8
But God commanded His love toward us,in that, while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us.

We are to do everything in love. And it all boils down to following Gods Word and the intent of your heart. If I saw`a
good friend going down the wrong path that would be detrimental to them would I just stand by and not try to help them?I think not.We are told to judge with righteous judgement which is not our word but Gods Word.We need to humbly speak the truth in love
and avoid every appearance of self-exaltation and haughtiness.

Sometimes this can be hard to get across in the written word when not with a person face to face. The best thing to do is try to be the least challenging and non-threatening as possible. If you have already established a relationship with a brother or sister,it will be easier for them to know that you are doing it out of consideration for them, even if at the time they don't seem to take the advice that God has laid upon your heart to
give them in His Word.

There's a difference between rebuking in love and an underhanded personal attack on a person.

Proverbs27:5-6
True love cares enough to confront;better is open rebuke than hidden love, wounds from a friend can be trusted but an enemy
mutiplies kisses.

The reason you rebuke someone IS because you love them.

2Corinthians2:4
For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth
of my love for you.

So we should first check our motives and true concern for the person then speak to them in a spirit of gentleness.

Galatians6:1
Brothers if anyone is caught in a sin you who are spiritual should restore them gently.

Matthew15
If a brother sins go and show him his fault in private if he listens you have won a brother.

If he still doesn't listen, back off and let consequences be the teacher.

Jesus didn't jump all over people who were guilty of sin.He showed them the error of their ways and told them to go and sin
no more.

1Thessolonians2:6
As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you,but we were gentle among you, like a Mother caring for her little children.

So if you feel led to correct someone check your motives to be sure who's doing the leading and humbly and as gently as possible
do it with true love for your brethren.
