Learned a new word

Learned a new word today and thought it was pretty cool..."pontificate".  I know, lame blog.  Had a longer heart-filled one in mind about the emotional rollar coaster (all positive)ride with God that I've been on but will make it short and sweet: God is awesome...His mercy is awesome....how could I ever do anything displeasing(sin, disobey)to Him after what He has given me? Seems He asks for so little when He offers so much. And it just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER.....
Back to my cave now...thought He let me out but said  nope, gotta go deeper. I'm hard-headed.

Freaky dream

Had a dream that freaked me out the other day. I was at school and one of my students did wrong so I cut of his hand. Another student did wrong so I cut off her hand too. Woke up thinking how horrendous and was shaken by it. BUT that dream later brought these versus to mind:
"Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire"
WOW, Jesus is telling us that SINNING is serious business that we should cut off a limb or pluck out an eye rather than commit it. For, those who will focus on the dream and twist what I'm saying....NO, I'M NOT TELLING OTHERS TO GO AROUND AND CUT OFF THE HAND OF CHILDREN.

BC scares me sometimes

It's pretty cool for the most part. Reading other people's blogs I pick up an occasional tidbit that lead to more information. Things I might not have noticed by studying on my own.
Haven't been reading the Bible but a few years so I'm a babe at scripture. Can't quote it or pull out of memory where a verse is located. So I'm still searching...seeking. The scary part is when people throw so much scripture and their interpretation AND is sounds good, looks good but is it really? What happens when I buy into it? I'm led down the wrong path which is no better than being a complete sinner (worshipping a God who isn't). So, I let Jesus be my guide...can't go wrong there. Scripture can be twisted in any direction someone wants to take it, I know that. But what about the person who is new to Christ?
Commenting on other's blogs is something I've started to stay away from. Here and there...but that's it.
People get defensive about a few of my key areas...so let me lay it out from my perspective:
1. My belief in not sinning. If I don't sin is that going to send me to Hell? That doesn't make any sense.
2. Doing for others. Now exactly where does that hurt anything? So now I'm to become more hardened than I was before.
3. Looking to Jesus for the "truth" instead of doctrine. Ummmm....isn't that who we are to be following. I KNOW doctrine better than I KNOW what Jesus said, there is something wrong with that picture. And once again, where can there possibly be a problem with that?
Sooo, why do I stay. Guess it's those few little tidbits that I pick up.

Not really but I don't usually write about anything going on in my personal life. This one is to vent. Due to budgets cuts in school systems, our local education agencies (my customers) have been denying students services when they need them. My student was denied and the parent (also my customer)who is in the know called and complained to me. She went down a list of problems the student had and asked if I saw them...of course, I had. She told the LEA that I agreed which in turn they called and complained to my boss. I'm sure you can imagine what I was told. It may be awhile but I'm sure the situation will come up again....

Equally yoked

“Equally yoked” is a term that I often hear mentioned by people regarding relationships. This has been associated to various meanings. Some will say that if another BELIEVES in Christ then that is enough to be equally yoked. Another will say that they have to be on the same spiritual level. But what about beliefs? On BC, I’ve noticed so many different beliefs…even within the same denomination. So, you meet someone and they believe, they are on the same spiritual level but here comes a few differences in interpretation, maybe small ones but they don’t see eye to eye on all of it. Time passes and more differences pop up. Is this going to make a difference? Curious about what others think.
Personally, I think God would have to do the choosing for me. My own judgment has a track record of being unreliable. And who knows best but Him?

Questions, questions, questions...they run through my head all the time about Jesus, about God. "line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little". Jesus thanked the Father for hiding these things from the wise and prudent.
Sit passively in a pew and have it preached.
Or go line by line
None get to the Father but through the Son.

Looking through some of the items I saved that caught my attention and came across this:

Ephesians 2:1-3 (Phi) You were spiritually dead through your sins and failures, all the time you followed this world's ideas of living, and obeyed the evil ruler of the spiritual realm, who is indeed fully operative today in those who disobey God. We all lived like that in the past, and followed the desires and imaginings of our lower natures, being, in fact, under the wrath of God by nature, like everyone else.
Galatians 5:16 (NIV) So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.
James 1:25 (Phi) But the man who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and makes a habit of so doing, is not the man who hears and forgets. He puts that law into practice and he wins true happiness.

Looks like even Paul thought we were capable of turning away from sin.
