Okay, I meet "Christians" that readily admit to still sinning and struggling daily. Then I hear...don't associate with those that commit heinous sinful acts. Preachers, congregations, many, many people say this. All sins are equal, correct? So, if we commit a seemingly small sin to us...it's equal to murder in the eyes of God. How can we pick and choose when God says nope, a sinner is a sinner?

Saw these vices and their moral virtues on a website. Interesting to look at morality in it's opposite form.

Stupidity is deficiency of wisdom; that is, not using the power of the intellect to understand the nature of things.

Lack of endurance and self-depreciation: This is one of the consequences of weakness of the spirit and indicates an incapacity to face hardships. The opposite of this characteristic is steadfastness, which means the capacity to endure hardship and adversity.

Brutality: lack of mercy and compassion when these qualities are called for.

Self-deception: the opposite of which is insight, knowledge and humility.

Rebelliousness: the opposite of which is obedience.

The power of God Jun 6, 2009 7:22 am

A couple of days ago I had an ah ha moment. Actually it is something that we claim and say quite often but it never really hit home what it meant until then. We all say we have the power of Christ in us or that God is in us but do we really believe in what we say? If His power is in us and there is a change of heart then why are we continually struggling with ourselves? Focused on ourselves? Jesus said it is finish and it could be finished in us by believing that we are complete. We minimize His power by thinking that He cannot COMPLETELY change our hearts and release us from the bondage of sin and the world.

1 Peter 4
1Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. Peter goes on to tell us to have fervent charity amongst yourselves as charity covers the multitude of sins.

That power is not meant to remain in us but extended outward to others. Sitting in the pews one hour worshipping every Sunday is not doing the will of God. Jesus gave us many examples of how to follow him and said that we can do greater. When are we going to start?

Went to a concert last night and watch Sanctus Real. It was awesome but one statement he made really hit home. "I was in bondage to sin, then I was in bondage to religion...now I'm free". Religion keeps us in bondage just as much as sin does.

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

That verse is one that I think about often and what it means. Cause obviously we are all not obeying if it means to literally sell everything we own and follow Jesus as we are all sitting on a puter to be on this site. We still have the material.

Okay...so is that what Jesus meant for us to do?

Unconditional love May 28, 2009 8:00 pm

Little children have this amazing ability to love thier parents unconditionally. Fight with their friends and they forgive them so quickly. Watching my kids who have disabilities this unconditional love is extended to the people around them. Society rejects them, their peers, schools, even parents. They put on the rough exterior and have deviant behaviors but yet show them kindness...love and they would die fighting for you. We are the teachers of them but perhaps they could be teaching us. Their minds fresh, not full of pride, loving unconditionally and so forgiving.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Who's problem is it anyway? May 25, 2009 6:51 pm

I've pretty much concluded that people who have a problem with dancing and label it as "sinful" are really struggling with their own sin within them...reaction, thoughts, etc. I'm referring to innocent fun which in this case is dancing and having fun with kids. Same could be said about other dancing which there is no more behind it then having a good time. So here is the hot weather and bikini season which brings up another "sin". Some people think that a woman should be covered, long shorts and t-shirt at the beach so as not to tempt men. If the swimwear is in good taste and not extreme then why should it matter? Wouldn't that be their own thoughts or lust that is ruling them when the purpose is to be comfortable not to entice? Adam and Eve went around with a lot less than swimwear and did not feel ashamed until they they knew of evil.

Gospels May 25, 2009 8:57 am

Does anyone here take the lost gospels in account? I have to question that it was "men" who decided which gospels were to be included and which were to be discarded. As it has been shown, "men" had motives that were to benefit themselves rather than being unbiased. For example, the church placed an additional verse in the Bible to support that there was is a trinity and later it had to be removed. Jesus warned that there would be deception and false prophets. After the flood, people in Noah's day when right back to being corrupt just as they did after Jesus' death. Lost gospels aside, Jesus gives us warnings about passively believing ANYTHING OTHER than his words. Seek him and only him.
