Trouble is swirling about on all sides. Times are perilous. There is a whirlwind of principalities.
God has picked me up and placed my in the palm of his hand. Though the storm rages without, I am fully protected in him. He has given me his peace. I rest in him. All is well.

It is personal, and we have a family member and another friend in distress.
We have lit a candle and decided to keep vigil and pray often throughout the night. The candle reminds us.

Here is a recipe for a really easy and delectable cookie.

Thumbprint Cookies

1 cup margarine
1/4 cup sugar
Beat margarine and sugar till light and fluffy.

add 1 teaspoon almond extract--then,

Mix in two cups flour. Get your hands in it!

Form into balls, roll balls in a little bowl of chopped nuts,& place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten a bit, and make a thumbprint in the center! Bake @ 400 for 10-12 minutes. When cool, fill thumbprint with raspberry jam or any kind of jam.

These are so tender they melt in your mouth. Yum Yum!

I have one for "camel turds" too.

Put in a bowl:
1 cup sweetened coconut
1 cup flour
1 and 1/4 cups powdered sugar

put 3/4 cup very soft, unsalted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 4 teaspoons milk in a bowl and mix. Add to coconut mixture and form into balls. Place an inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until firm but tender.

Melt chocolate and drizzle or dip the cookies in it. Looks just like a camel left something behind. Just a note: I always make these cookies by feel, and I've never actually tried this coconut recipe. I usually just add a package of coconut, 1/2 cup of flour and margarine until the consistency feels right. I get my hands in the dough and knead until it forms buttery balls.

You're a little bit tender like a cookie ought to be,
very sweet and nutty, you're an awesome friend to me. God Bless you saints!

Cold Weather Survival Tips Dec 15, 2008 7:08 pm

It's that time of year again when the temperature drops below 0 and the words from that famous old song ring oh so true:
The weather outside is frightful,
but the fire is so delightful,
there isn't any place to go,
let it snow-let it snow-let it snow!

If only it was a bit warmer it may snow. It is actually about 4 above 0 as I write this, but it is expected to get to -5 and the wind chill factored in to about -20. Brrrrrrrr!

This is the weather to leave the water dripping just a tad to keep it from freezing, leave the sink cupboard door open so the drain pipe doesn't freeze; search for any place the cold may be sneaking in and stuff it, tape it, or drape it.

It is time to layer up and keep a hat and gloves on, and wear a face mask or thick scarf to keep your face and nose covered. Breathing in super cold air can actually damage the lungs and certainly freeze the nose hairs.

Keep a blanket, or two- in the car along with other basic survival supplies such as:
flashlight
flares
shovel
sand for traction
first aid kit
extra warm hats, gloves, socks, coats, boots, etc.
food
fire starting supplies
sleeping bag

This morning I put on my silk long johns, then my regular clothes, wool socks, my sheepskin boots, goose down coat, face mask, thick gloves, fur earmuffs and scarf. I was not a bit cold, but I know anyone not properly dressed would be.

I want my babies safe and sound. Now time to make so hot cocoa and settle down for a long winter's nap. God bless you Saints.

Your Christmas/Christian Rights/ Public Schools Dec 14, 2008 9:32 am

Are students in public schools allowed to sing Christmas Carols with religious themes at school or in holiday programs?

Can schools teach about the biblical origins of Christmas and Easter?

Are students allowed to write about the birth of Jesus and
the origin of Christmas in school assignments?

May students continue to refer to the season as Christmas and also say Easter?

Can students pray in school?

The answer to all of these questions is yes! There is much information on Jay Sekulow's site.

Most of the information given us by the secular humanists is all bluff. If we easily agree to what the secular world wants without questioning the actual law and researching our rights, we are just weinies. I'm glad the great saints of old stood in faith to God, even with the threat of death hanging over their heads. We have the same choice. Will we stand for Jesus, or will we not rock the boat in case we get in trouble?

Holy War Dec 10, 2008 5:53 pm

The Crusades were also called Holy Wars. Noteably the Christians fought against Muslims.

The war against terrorism today is really the same war, even though there are other reasons and excuses attached, it is the same old war.

It began even in the tents of Abraham and Sarah. It will end, finally, when Jesus returns.

Losing the War on Christmas! Dec 10, 2008 7:32 am

Last Christmas I picked up a book by John Gibson titled "The War on Christmas". It was a great read and rant about how our freedoms to express the celebration of the birth of Christ have been whittled away.

In many places there are no Christmas trees allowed or nativity scenes or wise men. All of the signs of the season we love so much. I have some good news! If there is a war on Christmas being perpetrated by those anti-christ spirit secular folks--they are losing! At least in my little neck of the woods.

We have a huge glorious Christmas tree up in our auditorium, many Christmas trees all throughout the building and much more! The children did a writing assignment and in the halls their beautiful childish scrawl tells the story about our risen savior. What Christmas means to them. So many of them wrote about Jesus! I am delighted. Our Christmas program always has songs that sing of the savior.

No matter how much certain people do not want us to celebrate Christmas we must continue to celebrate as we wish and not give in to their "politically correct" ideas.

Praise God. May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!

Do You Hear What I Hear? Dec 6, 2008 8:36 am

Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see?
'Way up in the sky, little lamb
Do you see what I see?

A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear?
Ringing thru the sky, shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear?

A song, a song
High above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea
Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know?
In your palace warm, mighty king
Do you know what I know?

A Child, a Child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold

Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say!
Pray for peace, people, everywhere
Listen to what I say!

The Child, the Child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light

He will bring us goodness and light...

Pueblo Dec 6, 2008 8:28 am

It was in the eighties when traveling thru New Mexico, that we got stuck. It was Christmas Eve.

We spent Christmas with total strangers in the Pueblo at Taos. The dwelling was small and humble. They spoke no English.
We spoke the same language, though. That is the language of sharing at Christmas. My baby was 10 months old. We were literally broke and abandoned far from home.

In their love and generosity they took us in for
Christmas. All five of us! How generous they were to my family. They lived in a two room adobe hut. What a beautiful family they were!

I cooked with the women. We worked together and had much in common. Babies, food, celebration and the business of life. Language alone is not much of a barrier, it seems. When the heart is full of love it is apparent.

Praise God for this wonderful family who helped
my family. I pray I will have opportunities to share this type of unselfish love with others.

Somethimg tangible we can do for our troops Dec 3, 2008 6:40 am

If you go to letssaythanks online, you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services. How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! It is FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them. This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's.
Thanks for taking to time to support our military!

My friend emailed me this and I thought I would share with this community. Many blessings, Saints.

How To Look Ten Years Older Dec 1, 2008 8:49 pm

Hello Dear Ladies, and kids of the King!
As I stood in line at the market, I noticed lots of articles about how to look younger and it occured to me to do a post on how to look ten years older! Here's the recipe:

Hold unforgiveness in your heart.
Be unthankful-no matter how little or how much.
Try to change all those around you.
Place the blame.
Rehearse your old wounds, mistakes, problems.
Would've should've could've.
Live in the past.
Be angry.

I just cannot leave this post on a negative note, because there is a way to look ten years younger, more beautiful, innocent and serene. Here is the recipe:

Worship God!
forgive those who have wronged you, hurt you, used you.
Be thankful to God for what little you have or what abundance!
Know you cannot change others, but you can show them the love of Christ Jesus.
Be blameless and never think to blame others.
Forget yesterdays worries and cares.
Think of the glory to come.
Be slow to anger, and if you become angry-then be angry but sin not.
Love with the love of Christ.

Can't bottle it, or buy it- but you can have it. It is a gift. Merry Christmas!
