Trouble is swirling about on all sides. Times are perilous. There is a whirlwind of principalities.
God has picked me up and placed my in the palm of his hand. Though the storm rages without, I am fully protected in him. He has given me his peace. I rest in him. All is well.

Misery Loves Company? Or maybe the attention. Jul 4, 2008 8:57 am

We've all been there at one time or another. Naturally, when we humans don't get our way, we are not happy! Sometimes there are extremely valid reasons to feel sorry for ourselves.

I remember having a surgery when I was twenty four years old. Nothing very serious, but it required an overnight stay. I had no visitors or calls or flowers or cards. I was married to my X at the time and truly this hospital respite seemed like a luxury hotel stay to me. Yes, things were not great. When the nurse came in early evening she asked if I would be having any visitors. When I said, no, she looked at me with such a look of pity it was memorable. The rest of the evening I started thinking maybe I should be pitied. Over and over in my mind I saw again, her look of pity. This is pretty sad, I thought to myself. Not even a card! I gave myself some sympathy.

Sometimes we have pity parties because somewhere along the line, it paid off.
It begins early. In the early years we may told no when we want a lollipop and we are shocked, maybe angry. We put up a fuss. Temper tantrums. Pretty typical. If the adult who is viewing the tantrum relents and hands over lolli--watch out! The fit thrower just got rewarded for a fit, and it's a sure bet they'll play it to the hilt. This is a manipulation.
Whining and "poor me" is a manipulation.

I am not speaking of true loss and grief. I have noticed when I am sick I can get pretty whiney. Don't mean to, and I try to cut it off.

Ever know a whiner? Yikes! Obviously, that behavior works for them and they have learned to use it as a way to "get their way".

What sometimes happens is children who grow up with this learned pattern to receive attention and goodies, is that they are not even aware of the learned behavior. Especially, when they respond to circumstances with the "pity party" technique that worked as a child, and they are alone---well, they are not likely to be satisfied. There they sit-alone and feeling so sorry for themselves. Like myself, in the hospital. Very unproductive. There are several unproductive things many of us have learned throughout life that just need to be kicked to the curb. The best way to do that is to identify these times, and repent!

Here's the list.

Guilt-the grownup playground bully. Identify it,
take care of it, and move on.

worry-this is one most of us do at times-ask God to forgive us for being whiny little brats and walk forward with faith.

selfpity-repent for being selfish and be thankful instead.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not lifted up and giving advice because I have arrived at a position of having mastered anything! Truth is, the grownup playground bully still catches me unawares in the playground corner. Sometimes I fret. All I know is, once we identify the bully, we can pretty well kick b%^&. Not in ourselves but by calling on the Lord.

Identification = let the light shine in those dark places. See whats lurking in that dirty closet in the back room. Let the Lord sweep it out. God Bless you Saints!

That's right. I have a superpower. I have a superpower that cannot be defeated, cannot be stopped, cannot be shut up, cannot be slowed down, cannot be distracted.

I have a superpower, that defeats the demons, claims the victory, causes me to fly like an eagle, that empowers me beyond imagination.

Casts out fear, holds no grudges, believes for the best, reaches out in love, lives justice, speaks truth.

My superpower, MY JESUS!

Revelation 3:14 - And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Resting After Vacation Jul 3, 2008 9:46 am

Hello Saints of God!

Arriving home Tues. afternoon from vacation found us exhausted! It was a wonderful trip and as usual we crammed as much into the week as possible.

It was just my Grand-daughter with me this time and she had a glorious time. What child wouldn't have a glorious time at Disneyland? My son-in-law laughs and says we're just giving money to the devil. It certainly is one of the major corporations.

While we were on the pirate island, a huge tree branch (about as large as a tree) broke suddenly and fell into the crowd by New Orleans Square. When we walked by the area which they had cordoned off, I asked a park employee if anyone was hurt since there were paramedics on site and of course- he didn't know. It was silent and sombre for about 20 minutes or so and then Viola! Some very happy mariachi music began. Uh huh. I prayed, and actually found I prayed quite a bit as I went through the day.

We stayed at a wonderful hotel, although we could have slept ANYWHERE after spending fourteen hours on our feet. Ouchy-ouch-ouch.

We did some different things this trip, just to mix it up. Instead of dinner at the Blue Bayou, we ended up dining at downdown Disney at the Jazz kitchen (very nice)!

We boogie-boarded at La Jolla. This was wonderful and the water was warm once we got used to it.How exhausting to get pushed around by the ocean. That sand was everywhere as evidence of our fun time for the rest of vacation! Sheesh.

The zoo was great fun! Love those monkeys.

We watched belly-dancing and ate Moroccan food in San Diego. I had always considered belly-dancing a legit form of dance and art, but after the performance we saw I was disappointed. I'm sure it was just this particular dancer but when men put money in her skirt she would bump them with her hips! I ended up praying silently for her throughout the entire performance.

I was supposed to spend a day or two working during the trip but never got a thing done. So, I will be going back in three weeks for three or four "workdays". It will still be fun though.

Trying to catch up to the blogs a bit today, and some work. Missed you all. GBU precious Saints.

My Final Post Before Vacation/ Frikkin' Elephant Jun 23, 2008 7:16 pm

Note from a friend of mine, as follows:

My four-year old Grandson is learning to read.

Yesterday he pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said, 'Look Grandpa! It's a frickin' elephant!'
I took a deep breath, then asked...'What did you call it?'

'It's a frickin' elephant, Grandpa! It says so on the picture!'

...and so it does...

Some " IDOL" thoughts Jun 21, 2008 3:55 pm

Idolater. You know, those people back in the day that built golden calves and bowed down and worshipped there. Evil hombres to the max.

Not us! We are Christians! We would never build a golden calf and kneel down before it!

Or would we? Perhaps we have at times built our alters of things gold, and green (money) and with big red hearts (romance and love).

Our idols are as big and as obnoxious as the golden calf alright, but we have cleaned it up and called it something else. Nonetheless, idols are forever trying to lure us away from our true love, our Lord.

Let me mention a few examples of what could be an idol:
Cell phones
a new house
gold jewelry
looking good
success (worldly standard)
our vehicles
vacations
gambling
porn
shopping
hunting/fishing
self-righteousness
self-pity
food
cigarettes/drugs/alcohol

These idols try to grab our attention and tell us lies. It is something that captures your attention and your heart. Most of these idols give false promises of success-love-acceptance-power-position-and a handy little distraction from problems and fears.

Whenever the desire for something besides Christ takes our time-energy-and thought space- we are in danger of being in the same position as those golden calf worshippers. Yikes! Scary thought.
Just about anything we look to for comfort or entertainment can take the role of idol. The oddest things-no doubt!

I would so hate to give up my shopping! I know that sounds silly, but truly I have to watch myself. Shopping brings me scads of comfort and joy. When I find myself becoming a little too involved in things, time to examine self. Ever question if B.C. could be a bit of an idol?

Saints, we have some very good news here! We are forgiven! We are loved unconditionally! We are redeemed and we have been set free! With truth and humility we can share our weaknesses and while there may be a few who will not be kind, we know we are all in the same boat-- be it a kayak, a yaght, or a plastic bathtub tugboat. We all want to be loved, accepted, and with each other Saints, we should be able to be honest. We should encourage one another, always looking to the Lord for wisdom-not to ourselves.

Am I wise? No. Am I accomplished? No. I am just a sinner saved by grace. Blessed beyond reason. Just stumbling along watching out for any alters being built not unto my God. So, God Bless you all and these were just a few idol thoughts.

Do You Text? Jun 21, 2008 8:12 am

Do you prefer talking on your cell phone or texting? I rarely text. I think a lot of the kids at the high school text so they can do it during class time. Other than that, why would anyone prefer text? Is it an age thing?

I lost my gold ball, and almost was decided to let my membership go standard, but finally decided to go for three more months with a gold. I want to leave pictures and check my "where I'm quoted" feature.

Tuesday I'll be leaving for Disneyland! Yeah! Just a bit of morning chatter here, Saints. Hope all is well with you. God Bless.

Welcome To Beautiful Downtown Sodom Jun 20, 2008 7:48 am

There has been much commentary about how this country couldn't be any worse than Sodom and Gemorrah before it was destroyed. It seems to be so.

For the sins of their inhabitants Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim were destroyed by "brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven" (Genesis 19:24-25). In Christianity and Islam, their names have become synonymous with impenitent sin, and their fall with a proverbial manifestation of God's wrath (Jude 1

Sodom and Gomorrah have been used as metaphors for sinfulness and sexual deviation. The story has therefore given rise to words in several languages, including English: the word "sodomy", meaning acts stigmatized as "unnatural vice".

From my studies of Sodom and Gemorrah, all sorts of evil happened there as everyday occurance. They were not only neglectful of the poor, they were actually cruel to those less fortunate. They were haughty, arrogant, high minded. Liars. Concerned more for comfort than anything else. Yes, I would say we have much in common. Although it surrounds us and we become used to this behavior, we see murder, greed, envy, lust, wantonness, haughtiness, backbiting, anger and much more on a daily basis.

"For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of nether gloom to be kept until the judgment;

if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven other persons, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction and made them an example to those who were to be ungodly;

and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the licentiousness of the wicked (for by what that righteous man saw and heard as he lived among them, he was vexed in his righteous soul day after day with their lawless deeds),

then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment, and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. (2 Peter 2:4-10)

God's main purpose in the world today is to call out a people for His name. While the building of the true church of Jesus Christ is underway, He is withholding judgment until the calling out of the church is finished. All of mankind benefits from God's grace every day we live. We are all showered by what is called God's grace. He makes His rain to fall on the just and the unjust alike. "God's kindness is meant to lead us to repentance," says Paul--not His threats of impending doom and judgment.

Nowhere in the Bible has God promised to save America. He has made no covenant with any nation but Israel and with the church. The New Testament is all about the calling out and building up of the church. Most of the judgment due to sinners and to nations is reserved for the end of the age. At the time of the return of Jesus Christ, all nations will be judged. In the meantime it is true that individuals reap the consequences of their sins. Nations come onto the stage of history and frequently disappear from history because of their sinfulness-usually in a few hundred years at most. God silently judges men and nations all the time. Sometimes this process of temporal judgment from god is obvious, often it is not. Often the judgments of God are silence and may go unnoticed. The prophets of Israel warned that nation in advance because they have a covenantal relationship with God.--Lambert Dolphin

I always like to end the post with a happy ending, and there is a happy ending. We have a merciful and loving God who sent his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him, shall not perish but have everlasting life! That is good news! Man is drowning in a sea of sin and we have been thrown a lifejacket.!

"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:14-21)

God Bless you Saints!

I don't know what is going on with you, but I know this, you always bring a smile.

I'm sorry I haven't written comments to you recently, I have sort of slowed down. Not because we don't read you or love you!

You have been nothing but a blessing to B.C. and I do hope whatever has happened, you will let it slide off you like water off a duck's back.

We need to be a little bit ducky these days, don't you think?

Hugs and goofy faces!

Racism Will Be Popping Up Jun 17, 2008 5:17 pm

I believe that we will see a surge of racism in the coming year. The reason I think so? I have already heard a few rumblings and even saw a very racially cutting comment here on B.C.

When I went back to check it out, it was removed- and that was good. We shall see how this year progresses, and how things will go. Since we live in the world, we can expect the world to act like the world, which hates us as it hated our Lord then, and even now.

Very much a time to draw close to the Lord, pray continuously, and suit up in God's armour.

Ephesians chaper 3 verses 14-21

14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family [1] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
