Trouble is swirling about on all sides. Times are perilous. There is a whirlwind of principalities.
God has picked me up and placed my in the palm of his hand. Though the storm rages without, I am fully protected in him. He has given me his peace. I rest in him. All is well.

Politics and all it's trappings attempt to adjust the things in the temporal realm. We reach for order, health, wealth and wholesome
ethics, to name a few. It is good to remember that no matter how good it gets-it is temporal. The Kingdom of the world. We will not take our politacs to heaven with us nor our fortunes.

The most I did in the political realm was to stop
the spraying of toxic herbicides which was mandatory at that time. It was a lot of work, even with 25 or more volunteers. Now, I don't know where it stands. Like the flower that withers... ok, sick pun.

Then, five years later I became the alternate delegate in my city for my preferred party.
That meant many hours at city hall and meetings, etc. etc. This is well and good for the civic minded of us but I must say that as we dabble in these things of the world it is good to keep our perspective. Kings and Kingdoms will all pass away, but there's something about that name.

There's just something about that name
Master, Savior, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all heaven and earth proclaim

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away
But there's just something about that name

Break into a gallop of Praise!

Don't just sit there- throw your arms up into the air and Praise His Holy Name!

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself" [Luke 10:27].

We go to the mall to spend our money, we go to games to cheer for our team, we go to the gym and work out for our health. Can we tell the lover of our soul how much we love him? Jump up!

Glorify the King of Kings!

And It Was Real Good May 26, 2008 9:10 am

From Online Children's Bible Stories with Paul Degass Frey

From the Book of Genesis, chapters 1 and 2
(Genesis 1-2.4)

...God created the heavens and the earth.

Before there was anything, there was GOD.

Before there was ice cream and chocolate sauce; or popcorn and pop; or computers, VCRs and TVs; or the sun, the moon and the stars - or even space itself - God was there. There wouldn't be anything at all if God hadn't thought it all up.

But God DID think it all up.

But in the very beginning there was no shape to God's creation at all, and everywhere it was black as night.

So God said,

"Let there be light!"

And there was light.

God saw that the light was good, and so he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "Day," and the darkness he called, "Night." And then for the first time ever, there was evening and there was morning. The first day in all of creation had come to an end and a new day was ready to begin.

On the morning of the second day God put the blue sky between the deep waters that covered the earth and the blackness of space. At first, the earth was completely covered with water. There wasn't any dry ground anywhere.

And there was evening and there was morning. The second day was over, and a new day was ready to begin.

Morning came on the third day, and God gathered the waters together and made the dry land appear. God called the dry land "Earth" and the water he called "Sea."

God looked at all that he had made, and he saw that it was good.

It was all very good.

Then God said, "Let there be plants on the earth, and all the things that grow!" And all the different kinds of plants and trees began to grow; apple trees and banana trees, grass and dandelions and roses, wheat to make bread, and corn so kids would have a vegetable they would like; but God made spinach and broccoli too.

And God looked at all that he had made, and he saw that it was good, even the broccoli and the spinach.

There was evening and there was morning, the third day. A new day was waiting to begin.

On the fourth day God said, "Let the great lights appear in the sky!" (so we would know when to go to bed and when to get up for school). And just by his word, God made the sun and the moon and the stars. He made them out of nothing at all!

And God looked at all that he had made, and he saw that it was good.

There was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

On the morning of the fifth day God said, "Let there be swimming things in the oceans and lakes, and birds in the air!" And the oceans were filled with hammerhead sharks and dolphins and whales. And in the sky there were robins and eagles, blue jays, cardinals and yellow bellied sapsuckers. Until then the earth must have been a very quiet place. But not any more!

And God looked at all that he had made, and it was wonderfully good.

There was evening and there was morning, now the fifth day had come and gone.

Then God said, "Let there be animals upon the earth!" God made giraffes, and zebras, and lions and tigers and bears. He made moose with great big antlers, and little gophers and chipmunks and squirrels. He made monkeys swinging through the trees and giant gorillas sitting in the forests eating bananas. He made huge elephants, and he made hippopotamuses rolling around in the mud. How did God think of all those things?!

What a great imagination God has!

Then God said, "Let us make people in our own image" (God said, "us" because God the Father was there, and so was Jesus, and so was the Holy Spirit - but still he was just one God). So God made people in his own image.

When you look at yourself in a mirror, you see an image of yourself. You see a reflection of what you are like. God made us in his image. We are a reflection of what God is like. When God sees us, he sees a reflection of himself.

You are the image of God. Always remember that.

So God looked at all that he had made, and he saw that it was good.

And there was evening, and there was morning, and that was the sixth day.

On the morning of the seventh day God saw that the whole universe and everything in it was finished. Nothing else needed to be made. And it was all very good.

And so God rested on the seventh day. He celebrated all the good work he had done. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy.

What does that mean?

When something is "holy," that means that it is special. It belongs to God. When God made the seventh day holy, he made it his day. It belongs to him. He made the seventh day a special day, different from all the rest.

God rested from his work on the seventh day and enjoyed all that he had made. That is what God wants us to do too. On the seventh day of every week, God wants us to rest and enjoy all that he has made. That way we will always remember that all good things come from God.

God made everything there is, and he made it to be good. Always remember that.

God is so wonderful!

The Lord Rebuke Thee May 24, 2008 9:10 am

The archangel Micheal, when contending with the devil did not bring forth a railing accusation, but said,

The Lord Rebuke thee. From Jude

It is sometimes the best course of action, when dealing with rage, anger, and the anti-christ spirit, to step aside, say little and let the Lord rebuke.

Martian Child (movie review) May 24, 2008 7:45 am

Hello Saints of God,
I know,I know, this movie has been out for awhile. We rented it yesterday though and I thought it was worth giving a review.

John Cusack (favorite of mine) plays the role of a single writer of sci-fi who wants to make a real difference in the world and knows that relationships are what make that difference.

He becomes enthralled with a little boy who spends his days in a box. To cut to the chase:

He adopts the little boy who has unusual issues, and rather than trying to power over and force the little boy into more conventional behavior, Dad goes with the boys fantasies and gently works toward trust, love and healing. It is an excellent film and the child did a bang up job of acting. I think this film found a spot in my heart more than most because I do work with unusual children with quirks, and this is where my heart is captured. From one to five stars with five being the best I give this one *****

God Bless Saints!

My response to Paul May 23, 2008 6:49 am

Sheesh! I see humor here. Sweethoney did a post yesterday that said this:this is only part of it:

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU REALLY HAVE THE TRUTH IF YOU DO NOT TEST IT?? WILL FAITH ALONE SAVE YOU??? NO, YOU MAY BE PUTTING YOUR FAITH IN A DECEPTION. IF YOU REALLY HAVE THE TRUTH THEN IT WILL STAND UP UNDER FIRE BUT TO ALWAYS LOOK FOR A CONFIRMATION BIAS WILL KEEP YOU IN A MINDSET THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE TRUTH. BRING ALL THINGS TO THE LIGHT, THE BIBLE SAYS. TEST THE FRUIT. DOES WHAT YOU SAY GLORIFY THE LORD OR SELF? DOES WHAT YOU BELIEVE GLORIFY GOD OR SELF? DO YOU LOVE GOD OR YOUR SELF?

I can be dense I know at times. My true love calls it innocent. I thought what sweethoney said was a good idea. All of us should bring all things to the light and examine the fruit. So I said to sweethoney, good post.

What I really didn't realize is that she was doing a put-down post to my very good friend Paul. I thought she was being friendly in her "way" of being friendly. It seemed to me she was actually saying she thinks Paul should not leave. I guess I was in some other zone.

I am sorry Paul that I said I agreed with anything that was meant to harrass you and put you down. My bad. Her words are wonderful truths if not used as a weapon against someone. I really am an airhead sometimes.

You hold your own in any argument and don't resort to below the belt tactics, pity tactics, slander tactics, etc.

Paul, please forgive me, even if we were not friends, I would not want to be one of the curiosity seekers who gather next to the gutter to watch trouble and jeer and cheer for one side or the other. I like to always stay away from the gutter and have intellectual debates. I have learned a lesson here. If I don't want to be caught in the gutter, don't go near it.

Love to you, dear friend. From your sometimes airheaded friend, Rhonda

Which of these sayings are in the bible? May 22, 2008 7:27 pm

Hello Saints of God. I found this info. on blue letter bible and thought it interesting and fun.
Which of these sayings are found in the bible? Not the concept, but the exact sayings. Many of these concepts are certainly true. Yet not specifically found in the bible. This is true with many things.

I am doing a little research on the topic of what is scriptural because there is much that is not spelled out exactly in the Bible. People often say, This is not scriptural and that is not scriptural. Let's face it, before we try to remove the unscriptural beam from our brother's eye, let's make sure our own eye is clear. This is fun, though. Bless you, Saints.
Pride comes before the fall.
The lion shall lay down with the lamb.
The eye is the window to the soul.
God works in mysterious ways.
This too shall pass.
Money is the root of all evil.
God helps those who help themselves.
Spare the rod spoil the child.
Once saved always saved.
To thine ownself be true.

Caught Me May 22, 2008 3:48 pm

I may not be a fly, but with a bit of honey you are more apt to draw me close than by a lecture or stern word.

The exact same words can have a potent impact or act as a repellent depending on tone, pitch and body stance. The exact same words.

A smile can be warm and inviting or a smile can be forced and fake. Being able to get along with others requires genuineness and honesty.

Anything can be said in a way that brings "buy in". We must not water down the truth at all, yet we can have concern and warmth even when we have to redirect our children.

There is a time and a place for our serious "I mean business voice". When my kids hear me use this voice- they know. No time to mess around!
Once my kids see my view and understand my concern for them is in their best interest, they don't resist. They hug me and we are good to go.
I guess a spoonful of sugar really does help the medicine go down!

Just a sweet thought. Bless you Saints of God.

Guarding the Tongue May 22, 2008 3:29 pm

"Do not go about spreading slander among your people" (Lev. 19:16). "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless" (Jas. 1:26). "Men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matt. 12:36, 37). Gossip can be a cruel weapon, one that is turned on friends and enemies alike. It is completely against God’s standard of preserving unity and lifting one another up. It serves no purpose but a selfish one—there is no good result from gossip.

The gossiping person may be trying to look better by making the other person look bad. I have news: that strategy never works that way. Anytime someone has talked badly to me about someone else, I always wonder what that person says about me when I am not around and then I no longer trust that person.

The most pathetic example of gossip that I have ever witnessed was in a Bible study. During prayer request time, a woman asked for prayer for an absent group member. In the guise of a prayer request, she gave some very personal, some would say juicy, details about this poor woman’s life. It was terrible. As the leader of the group, I could only imagine that every woman would think that each time she wasn’t there, she would be the subject. I had to ask the gossiper to go to each member of the group and apologize and promise that it would never happen again.

Gossip is so damaging. More damage can be done with the tongue than by any other means. Like our mothers used to say, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all!”
