Trouble is swirling about on all sides. Times are perilous. There is a whirlwind of principalities.
God has picked me up and placed my in the palm of his hand. Though the storm rages without, I am fully protected in him. He has given me his peace. I rest in him. All is well.

I do consider my purchases and try to get the most bang for my buck. Now that we have purchased a new car, we are paying close attention to the budget. The poor showing of B.C. to keep a quality web-site has helped us decide we will no longer pay for a gold ball for me.

Come on, this is ridiculous to have such a glitch for so long that the front page has been stuck for weeks!

I will not renew my on-star hands free phone service but instead bought a headset for travel/talk.

Paying attention to detail and being a good steward of time, money and resources is a strong priority for us right now.

We were even able to get a little break and go to the coast for labor day weekend. What a wonderful getaway. No children this time. We stayed at a lovely place downtown Seattle on the 30th floor and the spectacular view was to die for. We had room service breakfast and spent labor day at the public market getting only tea and having fresh seafood.

May God Bless you and keep you in his loving care.

Understanding Heresy Sep 3, 2008 8:39 pm

Heresies rely on human insight and wisdom rather than God's Word.
Paul writes against any philosophy of life based only on human ideas and experiences. Paul himself was a gifted philosopher, so he is not condemning philosophy. He is condemning teaching that credits humanity, not Christ, with being the answer to life's problems. That approach becomes a false religion. There are many man-made approaches to life's problems that totally disregard God. To resist heresy you must use your mind, keep your eyes on Christ, and study God's Word.

Heresies are attempts to reach God by human means.
We cannot reach up to God by following rules of self-denial, by observing rituals, or by practicing religion. Paul isn't saying all rules are bad. But no keeping of laws or rules will earn salvation. The Good News is that God reaches down to human beings, and he asks for our response. Man-made religions focus on human effort; Christianity focuses on Christ's work. Believers must put aside sinful desires, but doing so is the by-product of our new life in Christ, not the reason for our new life. Our salvation does not depend on our own discipline and rule-keeping, but on the power of Christ's death and resurrection.

Heresies can be discovered through asking probing questions.
We can guard against man-made religions by asking these questions about any religious group: (1) Does it stress man-made rules and taboos rather than God's grace? (2) Does it foster a critical spirit toward others, or does it exercise discipline discreetly and lovingly? (3) Does it stress formulas, secret knowledge, or special visions more than the Word of God? (4) Does it elevate self-righteousness, honoring those who keep the rules, rather than elevating Christ? (5) Does it neglect Christ's universal church, claiming to be an elite group? (6) Does it teach humiliation of the body as a means to spiritual growth rather than focusing on the growth of the whole person? (7) Does it disregard the family rather than holding it in high regard as the Bible does? Author unnoted.
Blessings, all.

What A Week! New Car-New Challenges Aug 23, 2008 7:25 am

It has been a week! Blessings and challenges. We pick up my daughter at the airport today for a memorial service. My daughter's half sister passed away at age 45 from cancer.

Many of that family drink-so I know it will be a drinking/crying time. Not too many from my X-husbands family are saved. My Grandchildren will be going so we are praying that the Lord will protect all proceedings.

I will be focusing on the book I am writing and will be back to school this week as well. Then there is my SEO. Search engine optimization work. So busy.

A blessing to share is that we bought a new car! A 2008 Equinox. Very beautiful and fun to drive. It is all wheel drive so we can get around well enough in the snow! My first brand new car!

An interesting story:
My daughter took my picture when I was at her store visiting. As we looked at it, I asked her,
"Do you see that cross?"
She looked and answered,
"Yes."
Then she looked at me and exclaimed,
"you're not wearing your cross!"
We called over my young daughter and asked her to describe my jewelry and clothes and guess what?
Yes, she described my cross necklace! We asked a few strangers in the store too, and they saw it.
The picture is on my cell phone, so I will post it hopefully, this week. It is not a tan line either.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Many blessings to all. Will be spending time in prayer and praise. Hugs-Rhonda

Praise God the car broke down! Aug 17, 2008 9:18 pm

After driving around the city a few hours today in the 104 degree heat wave we arrived at home deciding it was just too hot to be out. As soon as the ignition was turned off we smelled an overpowering smell of gasoline in the car. Not sure where it was coming from we got out-got-back in-restarted (tried) and all the lights went on. You know, the dummy lights that say oil, check engine, coolant, blah blah blah.

All we could do was look at each other and say:
"Praise God"! We were safely home and not out on the hot highway in 104 degrees. This may also answer the question as when we get a new car. We shall see. I would like a Equinox or a Pacifica.

If it is just a hose that broke, Praise God for that too!

God is Good!

Calling Out Sin Aug 16, 2008 6:48 am

It is absolutely one of the hardest things to do. It is easy to call out sin when we see it breaking over the nation, or call out sin as we see it spew forth it's retched message from the media.

It is one of the things we Christians talk about often, the sinful state of the world. We all agree, for the most part, that we are starting to put Sodom and Gemorrah to shame in the sin department. Even the line between what is wrong and what is not is growing hazy for Christians. There seems to be a mindset that if the world does it, it's ok. Gambling, pre-marital sex, cursing, talking poorly about others. What a list! We are in the world but not of the world.

So back to my thought on calling out sin. Easy to do in some circumstances, but harder in others. We know when our loved ones err we have a choice. We could keep quiet, and keep peace. Yet in all good conscience, we cannot. We must call out when we see our people getting involved in something that will hurt them. We want them to hear us. There are some ways we can assure they will not hear us. One way is to come on in a scolding and harsh manner. Guaranteed to stir up resistance. Another way is to call them out in a public situation, as here on B.C. It dosen't take a rocket scientist to realize these two facts.

There are scriptural guidelines that should be followed. One of these is to pray.
King James Bible
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 1 John 5 verse 16

Sometimes we are called to be more intense than other times as in Jude 1 verse 23

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

When we must call out sin, our message is best received when we pray, have Holy Ghost direction, a heart of love, and speak privately with our brethren.

On a final note, to call out sin in unbelievers is pretty much fruitless. Not saying not to do it, but this post is in reference to the brethren. Love you Saints of God.

Someone else accepts Christ Aug 16, 2008 6:04 am

I am rejoicing and praising God for the man we have prayed for has decided to follow Jesus!
It was completely out of the blue on his end, not something he had been thinking about but instead, was sudden- dramatic- and sure.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I remember when I was ministering to a very dear lady and friend. Her X boyfriend showed up whom she was in love with but he was a drinker and carouser and far from the Lord. He broke into her apartment so I ended up calling the police. Within 24 hours I went to my friends apt. and there he sat-touched by God- my friend was still not saved and she was very suspicious about his "change". I told him I had called 911 on him and he cried and said,
"that's ok", then proceedeed to tell me about how the Lord had grabbed him! On the side of the road through a religious tract! There was no doubt in my mind that the Holy Spirit had done a work here. Now, almost fifteen yrs. later, after a quick marriage- my friends are mature in the Lord and bear much fruit. They think I am responsible for their getting saved. I don't. I did pray and minister, and I thank God that in his mercy he reached out and answered.

Just an encouragment to pray for the salvation of people all the time. Don't be discouraged. God would have all men to be saved. It is his will. It is a prayer in agreement with his will.

Choose you this day whom ye will serve. but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Amen.

Holy Ghost Conviction Aug 9, 2008 11:56 am

I am so grateful for the conviction of the Holy Spirit. He lets me know if I'm doing something that grieves God or interferes with our fellowship. God is ever faithful to show me if I've done something wrong and helps me get back on track. He convicts and convinces me, but He never, ever condemns me. The Bible says: "For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.

For God did not send the Son into the world in order to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on the world- but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him" (John 3:16-17, The Amplified Bible).

God loves us even more than we love our own children, and in His love He disciplines us. I remember that disciplining our children can be very hard-- yet I knew the consequences of "no consequences" is a cruel and hard road.

God has the same concern for us, but He is patient. He tells us again and again what we ought to do. He may tell us 20 different ways, trying to get our attention.

Our God is so patient Saints. He will continue to woo us until we are ready to yield and become obedient. He waits as we are in his hands warmed and softened into the shape he wants us to be in.
No worries, when we are his-we will yield.

God Bless you dear Saints!
"Therefore, when you are in Christ, you are a New Creation;
the old has gone, the new is here and now!"

Did this title give a little jolt? Honestly, there are times at B.C. when a post is pretty much just as the title states, everyone chimes in to talk about someone, and might I add; it's not very positive.

I perhaps in past have done exactly this same thing. I know on one or more occasions. I will try to never do this again.

This type of behavior is stepping over the line of good taste, discretion and biblical standards.

The most common reason this happens is that someone has made enough people mad to have a little gang after them.

If I join any gang, let it be the "ole sanctification gang" and not any other fake gospel variety.

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in the holy hill? He that walketh uprightly , and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor. Psalm 15 verses 1-2-3

The past few weeks, even more really-I have been in a position to be among young people while they interact with each other. To a point, my daughter and her friends and moreover, just young people in general.

At the mall, I overheard a group talking about one girl who wanted to fight another girl, with choice names involved. The young men discussing the situation said that they would get their mom to kick her arse! Since these people were in their twenties, evidently the arse kicking Mum would be at least forty. Yikes!

At the subway sandwich place where four young people were working, the kids were talking of their drinking times and then were about to start speaking of "other good times", looked up at me, and said they would talk about it later.

Everywhere we go, from Disneyland to the grocery store, there are lots of mammary glands bouncing freely and large rolls of tummy tire don't prevent belly shirts.

It seems when I was a young girl in my early twenties we did a certain amount of partying too. Where I lived was a wild and woolly wilderness area so Fri. and Sat. nights were given over to dancing and drinking at the local bars. It really could have easily become a lifestyle, but did not.

The reason for this post is simply that the Lord showed me this week to focus on prayer for youth.
Such temptation they face, even for those who know the way and choose to do right. They have exuberance and energy and are still learning who they are and care about how their peers perceive them. It seems as if the situation is tantamount to putting chocolate in front of a chocoholic. It comes at them from every direction. The world and all it's trappings are indeed a trap and even the wary may stumble and trip.

Please join me Saints, today, in lifting up the standard of the Lord, and praying for the young people in our nation. If we don't do it, it won't get done. There are some of these young people no-one is praying for.

God bless you this day. Rhonda

Perpetual Happy Hour? Aug 4, 2008 8:13 am

Christmas every day? Always on the mountain top?

The mountain top is grand, but the soil is deeper and richer in the valleys. The vineyard is laden with fruit from growing in the valley.

There is no perpetual mountain top in anyone's life. There will always be things that happen in our lives and families lives that will not be "happy hour". These are the times that will cause us to grow and draw closer to our Lord.

Ever been through one of these situations:

divorce
death of loved one
financial problems
relationship problems
work related worries
health issues
homelessness
prison
victim of violence or rape
brokenhearted in love
rejected

I'm fairly certain everyone can answer yes, to at least one of these scenarios. Life is not a perpetual happy hour. Sometimes the valleys seem deep and there seems to be no exit. Do not lose hope dear Saints of God! It is in these valleys that God will bring us to new levels and see us through to the other side. Yes, he will.

Glory to God! Even before I knew HIM, he knew me and loved me and protected me.

If you are in a valley time, remember this scripture:
and not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience experience, and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 3,4, & 5

God Bless you and show you he is with you through the valley trek.
