Desperate Prayer Feb 1, 2008 4:37 am

What is your most desperate prayer?

Does a rebellious child cause you grief? Is your financial situation overwhelming? Is a parent or family member dying without Christ? Tell God about your grief and anxiety.

In Mark chapter 9 a desperate father comes to Jesus with his demon possessed son. Some of the disciples had already tried to cast out the demon but lack the faith to do so. The father has seen his child like this for a long time. So in a desperate prayer to Christ he said

If You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.
He did not say because. It was a prayer filled with doubt.
Jesus answered and said "If you believe all things are possible to him who believes."
The father then said "I believe help thou my unbelief" Jesus commented on his faith.
Then Jesus answered his prayer.

So pray out of desperation. If you lack faith to see it answered, tell God. He already knows. Or maybe you know He can but don't see how! Keep praying!
When the disciples asked Jesus why they could not cast out the demons, He told them that it was answered by prayer and fasting. So keep praying even if you feel it is impossible. God is working.
Fasting is also a great way to focus on that prayer!

A good book to read is He Still Moves Stones by Max Lucado.

He sighed. Jan 30, 2008 5:00 am
Mood: comforted, 233 Views
In Mark 7 verses 31-37 is something that I never saw before.
Jesus had been talking to the Pharisees and His disciples about what defiles you. He had been brought to a man who was deaf and had speech problems. People had begged Jesus to heal the man. Jesus knowing that the man could not hear, pulled him aside and you can read what he did to heal the man. The part of the healing that stuck out to me was in verse 34.

34 "Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed
and said to him Ephphatha, that is be opened.

Jesus sighed.

So often I sigh because I feel frustrated with all that is involved with being a single parent. I sigh when my children don't obey. I may sigh when I see a friend broken hearted. I often sigh when I see children who ride the bus to church. They need a Saviour.

Jesus sighed. Maybe he felt sadness because the man was deaf. Maybe because he knew that even though he performed the miracle of healing and giving perfect speech, some would not believe. But for whatever reason, He sighed.

So today when you find yourself sighing because of someone or circumstances or sadness over how the world is today, take comfort. Jesus sighed. He knows how you feel!

What I find so amazing when coming on sites such as this, is the stressing of honesty. Yet, I am amazed at how many are hiding something or making things seem better than they are.
Now I understand, I wish I was a slender brunette in my 30's hey I have some of those pictures. I do have one of my favorite photos of when I was skinnier but I would be dishonest if I didn't put up a current picture.
I am not only talking about pictures though I am also talking about spiritual matters. It is amazing how when someone finds out that God is very important to you the religious jargon comes out.
Now if you have read this far, you are probably saying, why is she writing this? Well, I am writing this to say, BE YOURSELF! Be who you truly are right now. We all have goals and want to change but face it, those of us in our late 30s and older will not change much in our views or habits. Because if you have to be someone else or do something that is not the norm for you and you get into the relationship or even marriage, you will have problems. You will resent the other person and the person you are with will have trust issues with you.
God has a purpose and plan for each one of us. Follow Him. Be Honest. It is true "Honesty is the Best Policy"!

Why is it when I look for Members near me, they have not been on this site for over 3 months!

Guess I am going to have to look outside my "pond"!

But that is okay, God is in control!!
Just something I have observed.

My day- Useit and Lose it Jan 21, 2008 5:35 pm

The past couple of days I have not been feeling well. I was concerned about Sunday since I sing in the choir and the songs we were singing were in the high range.
The Lord helped me and I was fine. Today, however, I am losing my voice and no matter how much I try to save my voice I seem to have to use it. My kids keep asking questions and today at work I had to teach some volunteers about the job they were helping me do.
So today instead of use or lose it.. I am using it and losing it... my voice.
Hey but men like a raspy voice right?

Too funny! Jan 20, 2008 8:36 pm

I have had someone in my neighborhood, steal my CDs out of my car. The first time it was my big case of CDs. The second time I had locked my car, went back to get something and forgot to lock it. Next morning the CDs and my daughters back pack were gone.
Now you are probably wondering why is this funny.
Well all the CDs I have are Christian so if they listen to them maybe they will get saved and steal no more! lol
Anyway, they didn't get my CD by Mercy Me "Spoken For" which was a blessing since that is the CD that I am currently using to help me through the day.
Luckily I had a lot of the CDs on my computer but sadly not all.
I guess it is a great excuse to buy some CDs!!
I still have my Casting Crowns. There is a Jaci Valasquez CD that I am going to have to buy.
What is your favorite Christian artists?
Let me know.
