Too Funny #2 -Wrong number Feb 19, 2008 7:36 pm
Mood: giggly, 267 Views
I work in an office for a prison ministry. I love my job and the ladies I work with. Well, the 2 ladies I work with seem to get several text messages and phone calls on their cell phones during the day. I however don't even get one a day while at work. So when I heard the phone ring I said
"Wow!" My co-worker listen intently as I answered my cell phone.
When I answered it the voice on the line asks "Is Gary there?" Now my coworkers still do not know who has called me. So when I said I'm sorry you have the wrong number they both started busting out laughing which made me start laughing!
I hung up and said go figure!
This just so happened on Valentine's day so one of my coworkers text her boyfriend and had him text me wishing me a Happy Valentine's Day. The other co-worker sneaked out of the office and called me on my cell phone. So I beat my record of a phone call and a text message in one day!
Of course my coworkers could not stop laughing about the wrong number!

Renew Your Mind Feb 19, 2008 5:25 pm

Renew Your Mind

This is also a time for what Romans 12:2 calls the renewing of your mind.

"God is interested in your healing," says Dr. Archibald Hart, "and God uses the natural losses of life to renew your minds to make you a more complete person, a whole person. That renewing is an ongoing process. When you learn to use the losses of life for healing purposes, you renew your mind."

Bonnie Keen offers a practical suggestion that she has used to help renew her mind and keep it focused on the Lord: "I began to take Post-it notes and write a Scripture or a truth that I knew about the Lord and stick it up in my bathroom where I would go every day to get ready. I would leave them there. I'd look over at them when I needed to, and I would remind myself of the truth and of God's faithfulness. I put those everywhere I could to remind myself, and I kept them up for years. Slowly but surely the doubting started falling away and I began to say, 'I'm going to stand on what I know is true.'"

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will" (Romans 12:2).

Lord God, change my thought-patterns and behaviors to ones that promote healing and wholeness in me. Amen.

Restless Heart Feb 18, 2008 4:02 am
Mood: calm, 201 Views
Dear restless heart, be still; don't fret and worry so;
God has a thousand ways His love and help to show;
Just trust, and trust, and trust, until His will you know.

Dear restless heart, be still, for peace is God's own smile,
His love can every wrong and sorrow reconcile;
Just love, and love, and love, and calmly wait awhile.

Dear restless heart, be brave; don't moan and sorrow so,
He hath a meaning kind in chilly winds that blow;
Just hope, and hope, and hope, until the braver grow.

Dear restless heart, repose upon His chest this hour,
His grace is strength and life, His love is bloom and flower;
Just rest, and rest, and rest, within His tender power.

Dear restless heart, be still! Don't struggle to be free;
God's life is in your life, from Him you may not flee;
Just pray, and pray, and pray, till you have faith to see.

Ugh! Do I have scammers contact her on my profile? Feb 12, 2008 5:43 am
Mood: annoyed, 239 Views
Once again I have been contacted by a man Leonardo Torres, he says he goes by Lee. He started off okay but very fast into hoping we would be a couple. ooookkkkkayyy! I barely know ya.
When I asked about his salvation, he made no comment. Then the second email revealed that he was in Greece or Africa or something. That was the clue.
Hey this one types well and all.
When I went to report him, BC already wrote that he was a possible spammer!!
Ladies be careful!!

Here are the ones I have found so far:

luvchemistry1
charlieboltimoe1 >definitely not from Knoxville TN
He doesn't talk like us Tennesseans! lol
Anderson (forgot if he has any numbers by his name)
Anderson went as far as even IMing me But he kept acting as though he could not contact me or the Instant messaging was messed up. I think he was hoping to get me to give my phone number. Anyway he did not use terms like us Americans so that was a huge hint.

BE CAREFUL!!

I know men that aren't trying to scam for money, but they have lied about relationships and people.

That is why prayer is so vital!

Okay getting off of my soap box!!

The nice thing is the men who are bloggers here are not scammers so none of these comments are about them!!

Favorite thing on BC!!! Feb 9, 2008 8:48 pm

My favorite thing on BC??

Well it is this the blogs!!

I love to read what others have to say. I especially love to read what God is teaching others and in turn am encouraged!

When I first came to BC I was discouraged and felt a little deceived. Most of the men who are within 300 miles of me have not been on here in over 3 months.

Then I decided to see what blogs were about!! I got hooked. I may not be a great blogger but man I enjoy getting to know others better by these blogs!!

Have you ever been on blogs before?
If you have never posted a comment, feel free to leave one here!

So keep up the good work fellow bloggers!!
Love ya!!

Poem: The Old Paths Feb 5, 2008 6:10 pm

This isn't written by me, but I wanted to share it.

THE OLD PATHS

I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.
Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.
Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.
Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.
People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!
We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!
Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
And the Holy Spirit was respected..
Church was where you found Christians On the Lord's day,
rather than in the garden,
On the creek bank, on the golf course,
Or being entertained somewhere else.
I still like the old paths the best!'
The Old Paths' was written by a retired minister who lives in Tennessee.
