I was wondering how many people actually know, what the " Fairness Doctrine " is ?

The Federal Communications Commission ( FCC ) required that owners of broadcast licenses, to present controversial issues to the public, fairly, honestly and with balance.
So for example, if a talk radio station had a conservative host presenting his spin, on a liberal candidate; then the station would have to let a liberal host follow, to give his spin on a republican candidate. Each would get equal time to present their view.

As I've mentioned before; I listen to a lot of conservative talk radio ( its hard to find a liberal talk radio show ), and they present the Fairness Doctrine as the end of talk radio ( a way to silence conservative talk shows ). I've also heard Christian leaders complain as well about the " Fairness Doctrine "; and I can understand their complaint; but do Christians have anything to fear from this policy ?

Some even refer to it ( the Fairness Doctrine ); as the " Un-Fairness Doctrine ".

In 1987 the FCC abolished the Fairness Doctrine. So, here's my question. Why was it abolished ?
