In the news today, it was reported that Creflo Dollar and Bishop Eddie Long; are refusing to release their financial records without a subpoena, of the six named in the investigation; only two have turned over their records to the senate investigation committee. Some want more time. Are they stalling ?

Why would an honest man of God insist on needing a subpoena, before releasing financial records ?

WHAT LEADS US TO REPENTANCE ? I Dec 6, 2007 9:44 am
564 Views
Is repentance a work we do ? Do we repent first, and then God in His mercy saves us ? If and when we do repent; was it a result of our willingness ? The Book of Jonah; gives us insight into just how we rebel, against God, when He is calling us into His service, and how God works to bring us to the point of repentance; by making ( or causing ) us to repent. David said:

" Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach you, That he may dwell in Your courts "......Ps. 65:4

It's clear that David understood, that it is God who causes us to approach Him ( without our willingness ), and David understood this truth, without the help of Calvin. Far too often when people are confronted; with certain Biblical truths, they want to blame Calvin, when in fact Calvin had absolutely nothing to do, with the truths of any doctrine upheld in scripture. I've never heard those who hate Calvin, blame him when it comes to the doctrine of the triune God or any other doctrine not concerning salvation.

They only complain about Calvin, when it comes to doctrines like predestination or election, which by the way Calvin didn't invent. He learned those truths from reading the Bible; just like Luther did, and Luther taught more about man's inability to co-operate; in his salvation, than did Calvin. Apparently King Solomon understood this truth as well, for he said:

" The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. "Prov. 16:1

Solomon understood, that ultimately the response of man's heart, is due to God's absolute sovereignty. Scripture is not depleted of these truths, for the writers of scripture, all agree that it is the goodness, and kindness of God; which leads us to repentance.

" Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance ? Rom. 2:4

Man will only repent, after the Lord works on his inner being; by making him alive, so that he may respond. That's what is known as regeneration. Be sure not to confuse repeating a prayer, with true inward conversion.

TO BE 6 AGAIN Dec 4, 2007 10:04 pm

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife turning back and forth, looking at herself in the mirror.

Since her birthday was not far off, he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

I'd like to be six again, she replied still looking in the mirror.

So, on the morning of her birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park.

What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, The Screaming Monster Roller Coaster....Everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a Mc Donald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries, and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to see a movie, popcorn, and a soda pop, and her favorite candy....M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband where they collapsed onto the bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, " Well dear, what was it like being six again ? "

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

" I meant my dress size, you dummy !! "

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is going to get it wrong.

THE PIED PIPER OF HAMELIN Nov 15, 2007 7:46 am
661 Views
As a young boy in elementary school; I can recall the story of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, and his abduction of the children; from the town of Hamelin. If you are familiar with the story, you'll remember that the town of Hamelin; was overrun with rats. A fine looking gentleman came to town ( the Piper ); who told them that he would gladly rid them, of the rats for a fee. The towns people agreed, and promised to pay him; once he completed the task.

The Piper pulled out his pipe and began to play a soothing tune, which magically charmed the rats of the town, into following him to the Weser River, where they all drowned. The towns people were amazed to see such skills as the rats, freely jumped in the water. They said, " what great magic he has when playing his pipe, to control all of them with no fight ! ". After all of them drowned, the Piper proclaimed, " Time to pay ", with a big grin on his face.

However, when it came time to pay the Piper, the towns people reneged, and refused to pay him despite his success. The man became very angry, and left the town, and the towns people thought no more of him. But one Sunday while all the adults were in church, the Piper returned and began playing his pipe.......but this time all of the children in the town of Hamelin, were charmed by the rat catchers tune and they followed him, and were lured into a cave, never to be seen nor heard from again. Hence the expression you've got to pay the Piper.

When I listen to men like Joel Osteen, I see him ( or them ) as the Piper, a charmer, a smooth talker; who has the ability to charm the unsuspecting, and self indulgent. He entices with his pipe, all who take pride in possessions. But John tells us:" Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. "

There's an old expression that goes like this " There's a sucker born every minute ", and how true it is, but are people who profess to know God, to be so easily swayed ? Paul warns us, of those who have been robbed of the truth, and who suppose that godliness is a means to financial gain. He tells us that; if we have food and clothing, we should be content with that. Then he says, that people who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, which leads to their ruin and destruction.

I once heard T.D. Jakes say, he doesn't preach a fire and brimstone message. That can be said of all positive thinking, health and wealth, blab it and grab it preachers. When I think of all of the true great preachers of God like the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, Jonathan Edwards and many others, who by their preaching warned mankind of their impending doom, read Edwards great sermon, " Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God ", which literally scared the hell out of people, when he preached it. Then compare his message to what these false teachers of today like Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Copeland, Fred Price, Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn and TBN and many more are saying.

There is no comparison! They are guilty of perverting the Gospel of Christ, and robbing Him of His uniqueness.

You don't want to end up, having to pay the piper...........I know I don't. I'm storing up treasure in heaven ( that's where my mansion is ), where thieves don't break in, and fire can't burn it up, or the wind blow down. It's not a matter of who dies with the most toys, because you can't take it with you.

Wake up people! Wake up!

WOULD YOU PAY TO HEAR JESUS PREACH ? Nov 14, 2007 7:03 am
990 Views
What do you think about paying to hear someone preach ? How much would you be willing to plunk down to hear your favorite Tel-Evangelist ?

I often see info-mercials, which advertise a book that will show you how to become a millionaire. They make some promise to show the reader, the " secrets " of becoming rich. These same commercials tell of where you can go to attend a seminar ( for a price ), to learn these " secrets " when the author of the book comes to town ( selling more books ). Now, I can sort of understand people paying to go to one of these seminars. Even though the secrets been out for awhile now, about how to become a millionaire .......simply write a book, on how to become a millionaire. Millions will buy it.

When it comes to preachers though ( who also tell you, how you can become a millionaire ), I'm having a problem with the idea of plunking down big bucks ( or small bucks for that matter ), for them to teach me; how I can become a millionaire. The one thing both scams have in common is money.......YOURS. You have to give them money, in hopes of getting ( or making ) money.

But why do people pay these guys to learn the " secrets " of becoming rich, or the seed and harvest principles ( the WOF twist ) on scripture, to become rich ?

The answer to that is simple..........GREED.

Now to my original question. Would you pay to hear Jesus preach ? I'm sure He would be a better speaker and Bible teacher than Joel Osteen, and people are willing to pay more than $100.00 to hear him speak.
No, I wouldn't pay to hear Jesus speak.
Yes, I would pay to hear Jesus speak.
I don't think Jesus would charge anything, to hear Him speak.
Jesus took collections when He spoke.
I don't think people would want to hear, what Jesus had to say.

CHURCH SPLITS Nov 13, 2007 8:12 pm

Have you ever been a part of, or witnessed a church split ? If so, what do you think caused it ? I've been a member of two different churches, that went through a split ( no I didn't cause them ), and both happened for different reasons, and they were both ugly.

Generally, when a split takes place, the congregation is divided with most following the error, strange but true. I had some friends who attended a church; where the pastor actually started teaching; Jehovah's Witness doctrine; from the pulpit and when the congregation split........it split 90-10, with 90% of the congregation following the pastor. Whats up with that ?
