I'm a Cajun from Louisiana. "Cajuns" are known for their hospitality. I thought I'd use this place as a place to share feelings, desires, concerns, and fears. I will also share some "Cajun Jokes" ... hope they make you smile.

(source unknown) Thank You dear God that I have a place in You and Your Kindgom that is eternal... that nothing can separate me from Your limitless, intensely personal love -- the one love that is not the least bit based on how much I deserve it, the one love that can never lessen or fail. Thank you that you will never be dillusioned with me, for You already know all about me; past, present, future. Thank You God!

After he was dead, a Cajun discovered himself in Hell. He looked around awhile, then went right to work shoveling brimstone. The devil came up to him and said, "How you like it here, my friend? It's hard work and it's hot, yeah?" The Cajun just smiled and answered, "It not so bad. The work is steady. I got no problem with steady work. And it ain't so hot. You think this is hot? Man, I'm from south Lousiana --- It hot there, my fren! This ain't nothing." He just laughed and went back to work singing and having a high old time. Satan, being a former Texan, did not like Cajuns. He said to himself, "I'll get him. So he don't mind the hot, huh?" Satan waved a hand and the whole place was suddenly ice and snow, solid. And he said, "That'll fix dat fool!" When he went back to check on the Cajun, he found him jumping up and yelling and laughing and clapping and dancing. So Satan said, "Man, what's wrong with you?!" The Cajun smiled big and replied, "The Saints done won the Super Bowl!

I thank You for the bitter things They've been a friend to grace, They've driven me from the paths of ease To storm the secret place. -Florence White Willet Over the years, I've used journaling to heal from alot of emotional, mental, and physical abuse. I have stacks of journals that I can go back to and see how far I've come. I'd journal using Bible passages, poems, lectures, retreat talks, etc. The poem above was something I journaled on in 2003. My "secret place" was the inner me -- that I had kept hidden for so long. The inner me that believed I was unworthy, unloveable, dumb, a mistake. This inner me was keeping me from becoming who God wanted me to become. Fear controlled my life -- allowing Satan an avenue into my thoughts. I had to 'storm' that stonghold that was keeping me stuck -- that belief system that was keeping me from true intimacy with God. I had to realize that I am worthy of God's love!! James 1:2-4 Consider it joy my brothers, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perserverance. And let perserverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. What is your "secret place"? What is keeping you from turning your life over to God? What is keeping your from experiencing intimacy with God?

It seems like it isn't a coincidence that Jesus died on a hill shaped like a skull. I say this because in order for us to obtain freedom of any kind, we must realize that the battlefield of victory is in the mind. Jesus promised that if we commit our minds and hearts to His Word, the result will be a personal experience that will set us free. Freedom must take place in our minds -- we can't just rely on our will. Scripture readings: John 8:31-32 Eph. 6:17 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 John 1:1 What Scriptures do you use when battling temptation, doubt, etc?....... Share with us...
