Purpose of the Bible

Many years ago I attended a summer bible study while home from college. On one evening a girl came who thought our calm discussions of scripture was not productive. She animatedly and repeatedly said that the entire purpose of the Bible was salvation. Something in my heart did not find peace with that but how could she be wrong? God wants all to be saved, doesn't He??
A few months later I was reading Hebrews, I think, and a peace burst forth in my heart that the purpose of scripture was sonship [& daughtership for those of you who do not take the masculine to include all people when used in general terms] - becoming like Jesus. Otherwise why not line up all Christians and shoot them, sending them to heaven immediately upon conversion?? I'm being silly of course, but it's an analogy I'm borrowing from distant sermons.
Anyhoo...
Today the Associate Pastor spoke. He's never been my favorite as I always thought he used cuteness to substitute for style which in turn substituted for meaningful content. [Sorry, Pastor!] But today his cuteness had really good content. He pointed out that 'Accept Jesus as personal Saviour' is NOWHERE in the Bible. But Jesus' command 'Follow Me' is mentioned at least 21 times! Following is an active verb! It's not accepting Him as Savior and then do your own thing. It's going where He goes, changing your surroundings. It's leaving your old ways behind and moving on to places the world does not understand: sexual purity, humility, service, self-control, eating with 'publicans & sinners,' love.
Leaving old ways, following Jesus, becoming like Him, doing the will of the Father - Sonship [& daughtership for those of you who do not take the masculine to include all people when used in general terms]!

Happy Sunday!

Ultra dish soaps are super concentrated so they can advertise as being better and washing more dishes [ and therefore able to charge more ]. But in practice just as much dishwashing liquid is used meaning more suds AND more water needed to rinse extra suds resulting in bigger water bills for the consumer!
PS I told you it was mindless!
PPS We are having a drought where I live so water use is an issue.

The first morning there was a stray dog in my back yard barking at something. I fear it was barking at my Tweetie. The food dish remained untouched for two full days. This morning, Christmas Day, the food has obviously been eaten. So some one has been by to eat the kitty-kibble. I just hope it was Tweetie and not Santa! [ or another cat ]
Merry Christmas, everyone!

I Kicked Her Out!

Actually, I tricked her. I put her food on the deck and left the door open. Out she went! I originally wanted an indoor-only cat. But she has vomited and pooped one too many times on my carpet. I can't take it anymore! If she can't use one of three litter boxes she can be an outdoor kitty.
I need to find a collar with lots of bells so she doesn't eat the birds.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to feed her without inviting all the neighborhood cats over... Anyone have any suggestions for me??

 'Sandy Eggo!'
San Diego - get it??
I know, I know... I should write for children's magazines 'cause... I obviously aren't smart enough for higher minds...
One of my oldest jokes. It only works if you know your US cities and brand names. Where's that little copyright c in a circle when you need it??

So I decide to have the salad bar for lunch. I know I want leftovers so I fill a take out box. All the dressings are labeled except one - the green one with sesame seeds. I like sesame seeds. I figure this is a seasonal special. So I pour some on my salad. Then I think 'I don't eat out often or eat fatty foods often...' So I pour gobs ALL over my salad.
It was horse radish sauce! Whoa - my mouth!! My nasal passages!!!
I ate it anyway...
Breathing clearly,
