Tricks of Travel

So I'm at the airport. Any anyone who has traveled in short flights knows how tiny the airplane lavatories are. So before boarding I prefer to do my business on solid ground.
NC is having a drought. I did not help it that morning.
This is a public restroom. Hmmm... I take a toilet seat cover and lay it on its intended target. The automatic flush sees me and, WHOOSH! the toilet seat cover disappears with a tank load of water. I haven't even unbuttoned my pants yet!
Plan B, I take a paper towel, soak it with water and hand soap and proceed to do the cleaning crew's job. WHOOSH! The second tank full of unused water disappears down the pipes.
I did finally 'do my business' which of course used a third tank of water.
I'm an unsuccessful conservationist.

Anxiety is keeping me awake

My house has a brick front. It appears to be pulling away from the rest of the structure causing cracks in the inside of the house. Every time I hear a creak I think my house is going to fall down. It is probably something I should have had checked years ago. But I am very bad at home maintenance, not that I do it but that I need to take bids and hire people to do it. I can't sleep! I am trying to cast all my cares on Him but I just can't stop worrying.
I tell my children to take responsibility for their actions. If you release a bowling ball over your foot gravity will cause it to smash you big toe. Can you blame someone else for that? No! You're the one that released the bowling ball!
Well, I'm the one that has neglected home repairs.
My lost month due to son's hospitalization and my flu is not helping. That I am going away on business for three weeks is not helping. I should schedule catastrophes into my plans but I don't.
I wish I could just work [ I like to work ] and pray and dance. Clean house? Yuk! Oversee repairs? Yuk!
I need sleep and the fortitude to finish what I start.

My luggage, that is. I'm packed and ready. I just need to pay some bills and feed the snake.

'Family' Dilema

When my husband asked for the divorce it was my goal to leave him alone and let him get on with his life. He living on another continent, it has not been to difficult.
But...
His half brother just moved across the country and bought a house two towns away from me. He wants to take me out for dinner. My last memories of him were not pleasant. Almost the whole family was a thorn in my side even when the marriage ran smoothly.
I was always a good in-law but I admit the distance from the family post-divorce has been more of a blessing.
I also don't like the idea of half-brother spying on me to give info back to my ex. It would not be anything more than gossip as I have nothing to hide. I just don't like the thought of it.
Any suggestions??

Hi, all! I feel like I lost a month with my son in the hospital for 11 days and then me catching the flu. I leave for a business trip to China in three days. I had originally planned to finish my taxes [ which are complicated because I have a home business ] before going to China but with my lost month that didn't happen. There is little I can do while in China. I get stressed when deadlines loom! I'm ready for my China trip but have a busy three days with work. Regardless, I'm trying to tackle a bit of it!
Your prayers, as always, are greatly appreciated!
