Sounds like Swine flu. His name is Sam. Faithful, God-fearing family. His dad, my friend's husband, died of cancer a few years ago while only in his 40's.

Thank you for your prayers!

Deuteronomy 31:
14 The LORD said to Moses, "Now the day of your death is near. Call Joshua and present yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, where I will commission him." So Moses and Joshua came and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.

15 Then the LORD appeared at the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the Tent. 16 And the LORD said to Moses: "You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them. 17 On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, 'Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?' 18 And I will certainly hide my face on that day because of all their wickedness in turning to other gods.

19 "Now write down for yourselves this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them. 20 When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their forefathers, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant. 21 And when many disasters and difficulties come upon them, this song will testify against them, because it will not be forgotten by their descendants. I know what they are disposed to do, even before I bring them into the land I promised them on oath." 22 So Moses wrote down this song that day and taught it to the Israelites.

What's your favorite worship scripture? What verse in the Bible makes you want to fall on your knees before our Almighty, loving Father??? Please share! World events have me kinda down right now and worship of the One True God seems to me to be the best solution.

Thanks!

Under doctor's orders I take lots of calcium & vitamin D. In Modest Muslim Land I ran out of the latter. Vitamin D can be produced in our bodies very easily with a little sun exposure. Here I am in a part of the world where woman are to be covered from neck to wrist to ankle or be assumed a prostitute. What to do?

What I did was zip off the bottoms of my convertible hiking pants exposing my [ gasp!! ] calves & knees while walking in Tian Shan National Park. I was far from the road and I hadn't seen a human in kilometers.

But then I saw a lovely gap in the trees on the other side of the road. [ Why did the hiker cross the road??? Now you know! ] Still no human in sight and rarely an auto on the road to I aimed peakward.

And then van approached from a distance. There I am in shorts! Not wanting to scandalize the locals I squat in a depression and wait. It probably looks like I'm relieving myself but that's okay - I'm not scandalized by natural body functions and they probably aren't, either.

Now, I had walked for several hours and was maybe 8 kilometers from the park entrance, 10 kilometers from the tiny 'town' where a sliver of civilizations was. I had no bicycle, no auto, no horse. The people in the van stopped to ask if I wanted a lift.

I remained in my squat and waved them on. My knees were safe!

Why can't we treat Al Qaeda detainees well [ this does not mean release ] so that they bond with their keepers, being in this case the US? Just a crazy passing thought.

So, where/how do you want to be interred??

My mom just informed me that she is selling her grave plot next to my dad. She wants to cremated and distributed among her children. I'm to scatter some of her ashes in her favorite places in Maine.

What will you do with your remains???

Since returning from western China which is historically Muslim I've been wearing capris to purposefully 'expose' my ankles. It's too cool to wear shorts in NC right now. I had three weeks of wearing long sleeves & long pants in even the hottest weather to avoid ridicule, rocks and harassment.

I just want to enjoy knee & elbow freedom!

There's an opossum living in my garage! A HUGE one since its been eating my cat's food! My cat can bring down a full size rabbit but keep a stupid* opossum out, no....

*I can say that because I work with opossums professionally [me being the professional, not them] and they truly have very small brains. How much intelligence can be in there??? How can it outwit a naturally predator-supreme feline??
