Young murder suspect can spend holiday with mother

the house where Vincent Romero, 29, and Timothy Romans, … ST. JOHNS, Ariz. – An 8-year-old boy accused of killing his father and another man in eastern Arizona will be allowed to spend Thanksgiving with his mother, a move that drew criticism from the family of the second victim.
The boy and his mother, Eryn Thomas, sat beside each other in court Wednesday in St. Johns, often leaning over and whispering into one another's ear. The boy, wearing a navy blue shirt and pants, was free from the cuffs he wore in a previous hearing.

Judge Michael Roca agreed to allow the boy to leave juvenile detention from noon on Nov. 26 until noon on Nov. 28. Prosecutor Brad Carlyon objected, citing concerns about the safety of the public.

Defense attorney Ronald Wood said the boy is not doing well and has trouble sleeping in detention. He said it was important that the boy "have somebody to talk to."

Although the boy is allowed time to visit with his mother, stepmother, a grandmother and an aunt, Wood said that time is limited.

The judge said that if the boy doesn't return to detention on time, arrest warrants will be issued for him and his mother. Roca ordered that there be no guns or knives in the home while the boy is free and that the boy not be allowed to play video games or watch TV.

"Let's see how it works," Roca said.

The boy has been charged in juvenile court with two counts of murder in the Nov. 5 shootings of his father, Vincent Romero, 29, and Timothy Romans, 39, a co-worker who was renting a room.A friend of Romans', John Andreas, said outside court that Romans' wife, Tanya, and her family were upset that the boy will be let out for Thanksgiving.

"The family is very distressed. They don't get Tim back, they don't get Vinnie back. But this boy gets to go home, as their lawyers put it, get to have gravy, turkey, and do whatnot," Andreas said.

St. Johns police Chief Roy Melnick has said he would push for the boy to be tried as an adult. Prosecutors have 15 days to decide if that's the route they want to take.

Roca also granted a defense motion to provide counseling services for the boy. Anything discussed between the boy and the counselor would not be admissible in court, the judge said.

Thomas left the courthouse without commenting to reporters. She lives in Mississippi but said Wednesday in court that she is staying in St. Johns.

Until his arrest, the boy was living with his father and stepmother, who were married in September. Romero had primary custody of the 8-year-old.

Police have said the boy confessed and a police video released Tuesday shows the boy telling two investigators that he fired at least two shots at each of the men. But he also gave conflicting reports of his actions that day.

A defense attorney, Benjamin Brewer, has said police overreached in their questioning of the boy, who was not represented by a family member or lawyer during the interview.

Authorities and the defense attorneys have been unable to answer questions about the case since the court issued a gag order. Attorneys for the media argued Wednesday that the gag order is overly broad and asked that it be lifted. Roca denied that request and placed limits on some public records, ordering that written transcripts be substituted for audio and video recordings.

A status conference in the case has been scheduled for Dec. 8.

I see you...
when I close my eyes

I feel you...when I hear the warmth in
your voice

I know Jesus more when I look into your eyes
Because he resides there in all times

I touch and feel so many things
when I stop and remember our conversations

so believe me when I say
You are God's great blessing to me each day

A gift that never loses its appeal
because its one that never stops unwrapping

and I Love You Dear

Hey! I'm a believer now,

Since Jesus change my mind;

Hey! I'm a believer now,

Ev'rything's gonna be fine;

Hey! I'm a believer now,

Ev'rybody's going to see;

Yes, I'm a believer now,

Since He set me free.

Well, people think that I'm kinda strange;

Something's out of place;

That big old frown that I used to wear,

It's simply been erased.

A smile has moved upon my face,

It stays there all the time.

Ever since He made me His,

And I made Jesus mine!

Here is an example of misleading people on Gas Prices Nov 19, 2008 3:48 am
102 Views
In his article they paint doom and gloom and act like consumption and demand are the primary scource for gas prices going down. Conumption does have a little to do with this. But not the picture that they paint. Prices have went down mainly because President Bush's executive decision to drill offshore has been passed. If we do do that and also build a few more oil refineries we will not be dependent on foreign oil whatsoever.

That in itself scares the be gee bee's out of them. Oil is not just used for gasoline in the united states. Many products are used with oil that might surprise you. Since 1996 the USA consumes 12% more than it can produce each day. That can easily be changed by using our own rescources. Oil does not come from dinosours. It is regenerated in the earth from its own pressures.

LONDON (Reuters) – Oil prices fell toward $53, touching a fresh 22-month low on Wednesday, due to increasing signs of weakening demand as economic gloom deepened.

U.S. light crude fell as low as $53.30 a barrel, the cheapest price since January 2007. It was trading 69 cents lower at $53.70 by 0926 GMT.

London's Brent crude fell $1.23 to as low as $50.61.

Oil has slid by about one-third from its record highs above $147, struck in July.

"With no end in sight for the global economic turmoil, traders continue to focus on the lack of demand heading into 2009," said Jonathan Kornafel, Asia director of U.S.-based options trader Hudson Capital Energy.

"It is becoming quite evident that demand may actually drop from 2008 to 2009."

European and Asian shares fell as Japan's No.3 bank joined larger rivals seeking to bolster its capital in the face of the worst financial crisis in 80 years. Markets fretted over the stricken U.S. car industry.

European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said the deep crisis was the first time since World War Two that the finances of the industrial world have been at stake.

The oil market was also closely watching U.S. weekly oil data due out at 1535 GMT on Wednesday as well as any moves from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) at their meeting next week.

Analysts in a Reuters poll expected the U.S. oil data would show an increase of 800,000 barrels of crude stocks, and a 400,000 barrel rise in gasoline inventories. Distillate stocks, which include heating oil and diesel, were forecast to have risen 600,000 barrels.

The American Automobile Association (AAA) motor group said on Tuesday that U.S. travel for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday next week would decline for the first time since 2002.

OPEC, the source of one-third of the world's oil supplies, is very concerned about worsening world economic slowdown but is unlikely to take action on output at its meeting in Cairo on November 29, OPEC President Chakib Khelil said in remarks published on Wednesday.

"The Cairo meeting would be an internal debate, and I do not think we would take a decision, because we will not have all information, and I do not think there is any need for action before making sure that all members have applied the previous decisions," he was quoted in El Khabar newspaper as saying.

Went and saw "Dark Knight" again! Nov 19, 2008 3:28 am

Heath Ledger as the Joker in the Batman film was just awesome. It is one of the better cinema performances I have ever seen. It was the 2nd time that I saw the film. I think I enjoyed it even more the second time. Its playing at the Altamonte Springs dollar theatre near Comp USA.

It also made me sad knowing that such a fine actor had died in his prime. I enjoyed Heath in so many films such as Four Feathers and First Knight. Such a shame.

would you live your life "Next"? Nov 19, 2008 3:24 am

In the Movie "Next" Nicholas Cage can see about 5 minutes ahead into the future. Many times he plays out the scenario just so he knows the best way to do something, or to get what he really wants. Would you want to have that power?

Obama's Fictitious Pro-Israel Team Nov 18, 2008 8:40 pm

by Jan Markell

There is a saying in the Jewish community, "But is it good for for the Jews?" Thus, many are asking, will the Obama administration be an asset or liability for Israel? While many Christians place little interest or importance on this, this ministry does.

Much is being made of several Jews who are now a part of the Obama administration. Some seem to think that a few are very pro-Israel Jews and that we will thus see a new course of American-Israeli relations. I hate to burst bubbles but they are dead wrong.

The Israeli newspaper Israel National News reports that Obama hired a number of Jewish advisors who are quite critical of Israel, are anti-Israel (yes, some Jews are critical of Israel), and are in fantasyland about the Saudi Arabian peace intentions. Those include Dennis Ross, Dan Kurtzer, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Tony McPeak, Susan Rice, Martin Indyk, and several more. These spell serious problems for Israel.

Then there is Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emmanuel. He was the key person in the Clinton administration to make Oslo happen in 1992 and 1993. So we have a group of Jewish advisors, some of them Jewish, who are unfriendly to Israel's settlement policies in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank and eager to divide Jerusalem.

Let's revisit Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emmanuel for a minute. In the early '90s he was one of the people who helped financially put together Bill Clinton's campaign. He gained tremendous influence in the White House from a group in Israel known as "Peace Now." In other words, far leftists. They were the ones who engineered the Oslo process, and he (Emmanuel) personally was the one who orchestrated the Rabin-Arafat handshake on the White House lawn in 1993
