Azusa Street was another Lakeland, Brownsville and Toronto. Aug 25, 2008 12:26 pm

For a long time Azusa Street was the staple of pentecostalism world wide even. It was looked upon favorably. No one in the Pentecostal Circles questioned it, because it was their starting place of..... in the last days scriptures. Well its been over 100 years since the Pentecostal Movement started.

In recent times it was Toronto, and the fallout from what happened there left people, pastors running it eventually repenting and admitting that i was not good.

Same with Brownsville as financial improprieties came forth as well as misrepresentations of who the speakers were. It too was a mockery unfortunately. I knew plenty of people that went there.

The Lakeland fallout is particularly unsettling as many testify of Todd Bentleys drunken escapades in local lakeland bars as well as his supposed extra marital affair. Some say he did, some say he did not. It is a fact he had one admittedly 2 1/2 years ago.

To me its just all sad. Even sadder than what went on at Lakeland was the endorsements he received from all these self appointed prophets, and how they distanced themselves from him afterwords. You would think a real prophet would have some discernment in the first place. Yes a real prophet would. Thus, they are not.

I did some research on Azusa too. Sadly, but not surprisingly there is alto of the same stuff going on back then. One of the co founders was heavy into the KKK and a few years later he left and renounced what had happened at Azusa. The same issues of validity of claims was greatly lacking as well. So does God really act or show up at these places?

That is a good question isn't it? Personally I am not afraid of the answer. I do know if it does not line up with Gods word, I am not accepting it just based on someones "experience"

Many so called claims and experiences of Lakeland are turning into embarrassments sadly.

joy back Aug 25, 2008 5:09 am

I am reminded of a episode of my favorite tv show everwood where Dr Brown has been trying real hard to help a couple that is struggling in their marriage. It happened to be the same day that would have been his anniversary had his wife not been killed in a car wreck.

Well he had solved a pysical issue, but found as he shared they had decided to divorce anyway.
Coupled with Dr Browns own problems at home it was just too much.

So he is in the sanctuary of the church, and he is crying out to God to help him get his joy back. Maybe I didnt explain it well, but I feel like Dr Brown. I have so much on my heart right now.
