What is the condition of man prior to regeneration? When the Lord showed the prophet Ezekiel the valley of dry bones, He said "`Son of man, can these bones live?' So I answered, `O Lord God, You know.' Again He said to me, `Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!' Thus says the Lord God to these bones: `Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live'" (Ezek. 37:3-5)

Before regeneration, we are nothing but dry bones. Unregenerate man is dead in his transgression and sin.He is not sick, he is not ailing; he is dead. Now to say that he is dead in this respect is not to assert that he is physically dead, or dead in every aspect of his being. It simply means that he is dead with regard to spiritual things.

Ephesians 2 : 1-6

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:12-16

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

It simply means that he is dead with regard to spiritual things. He has no connection with the life of the Spirit,which comes only as a gift from God. Because man is dead, he must be born again.

John 3:5-8

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Because he is dead in sin, he is hostile to God and will not submit to His laws. Even further, he cannot submit to His laws. The natural man is incapable of understanding spiritual things, and since the gospel is in the front rank of spiritual things which require spiritual understanding, this means the natural man has no ability to comprehend the gospel.

Romans 8: 7, 8

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his

1 Corinthians 2: 9-15

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. I Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Because man is in this condition, he cannot come to Christ unless he is drawn by the Father, by means of the Spirit.

John 6: 44

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:65

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

A dead man is not free to walk about, so a slave is not free to walk off. Jesus teaches us that everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. Paul reminds the Roman Christians that they were at one time slaves to sin and free from the control of righteousness.

John 8:34

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Romans 6:20

For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

We were all at one time foolish and slaves to various passions. Unlike physical slavery, it is impossible to escape from this bondage since the slavemaster is our own depraved nature, our own passions and lusts.

Titus 3: 3-7

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The doctrine of total depravity is thisman is totally unable to contribute to his own salvation in any way, because he is dead in his sins. For example, the resurrection of Lazarus was not a joint effort between Christ and Lazarus. Lazarus came forth because he was raised, not in order to be raised

The denial of man's total inability will ultimately undermine our faith in the necessity of the new birth and the evangelical proclamation.

If unregenerate men, on their own, are capable of saving faith, without having been regenerated by the Spirit of God, then they should be able to continue to exercise that same kind of faith, after they are saved, without any help from the Spirit of God.

If a man can become a believer on his own, then he can continue to believe on his own. And if he can continue to believe on his own, then what did regeneration accomplish? The Bible teaches us that the Christian life begins with faith, continues in faith, and concludes in faith.

The foundation of all godliness is faith, and a denial of man's total inability means that unbelievers are capable of laying that foundation for all godliness on their own. Even if one argues that the Holy Spirit regenerates a man after he believes, such a regeneration is superfluous. What is it for? What does it do? In this view, it most certainly does not enable the man to believe or trust God.

The apostle Paul rebuked the Galatians when they forgot that they began by hearing with faith and then sought to finish the job by human effort. In considering his response to that error, I doubt he would have thought much of the confusion that reverses the order -- beginning by human effort and then finishing by the Spirit.

If I am saved, sanctified, and glorified through faith (which the Bible teaches), and faith is possible apart from regeneration (which a denial of total inability asserts), then salvation, sanctification, and glorification are possible without regeneration. And that reasoning undermines the necessity of the everlasting and eternal gospel.

If a man has been raised from the dead, there is much cause for rejoicing; there is no cause for pride. All human boasting is removed, what remains? Nothing of ours, but only Gods irresistable grace.

You should check out on line some of the houses and cars these guys own! The investigation has been prompted by many complaints against the lifestyles of these preachers and the accountabilty they need to have before the church.

The consequences of iniquities will find us out, this is an eternal principle which governs the righteousness of God and His judgment is fair. For years, i have written against the message of prosperity gospel which the fruits of the preachers will be judged. As God used the wicked Babylonians to judge Judah and Israel, so God will use the system outside of the Church to judge them, if the Church is incapable to do so.

Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa has commissioned a thorough investigation on six prominent prosperity gospel preachers.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Creflo and Taffi Dollar
Benny Hinn
Bishop Eddie Long
Joyce and David Meyer
Randy and Paula White
The above six ministries are under investigation for irregular tax reports and various financial activities that don’t comply to the laws governing religious organisations in America.

In many cases, these preachers live an extravagant lifestyle above humility Christ shown us in his ministry on earth, these preachers are more concerned about building their own kingdom here on earth. Often to the expenses of poor communities in America and around the world. Many ministries involving these six and affiliated are under investigations, including Oral Robert University where Kenneth and Gloria Copeland are in the board of regents, is under investigation and involving a financial scandal on its own.

Just in Singapore for the last few weeks, after the NKF (National Kidney Foundation), a charitable organization which was investigated, the latest being Ren Ci Organization, a charitable buddhist organization is now being investigated for the huge amount of money they solicitation through TV charity shows, and irregularities in their investment and loans to companies.

The root of prosperity gospel is in the greed where these preachers, whether knowingly or not, has blinded them. Despite the potential reach of their ministries to tell the world about Christ, their testimonies are now a blight in light of Christ’s and has shown us, the Church, that we are all guilty for not being a watchman and to judge each other in love.

We need to watch each other’s lifestyle and doctrines that we remain accountable and blameless even before the world that we will not shame the name of Jesus. I can’t say the same with these super preachers of their own message of greed.

LUXURY cars, corporate jets, huge salaries and oceanside condominiums. It sounds more like the trappings of Hollywood than of those who claim to serve the Lord.

In a highly controversial move, which has raised issues about the separation of church and state, a Senate committee has announced plans for an inquiry into the financial workings of six well-known evangelical churches after concerns were raised about the lavish lifestyles of their founders and whether these were being built on tax-exempt proceeds from their donors.

At least three of the churches under investigation have a presence in Australia, mostly in Queensland.

The inquiry is being driven not by the Democrats but by a Republican on the Senate finance committee, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who has made scrutiny of these mega-churches part of his brief.

On Monday he faxed letters to a half-dozen evangelical mega-ministries requesting information about salaries, board oversight and perquisites, which appear to include luxury oceanside homes, flights on private jets and opulent office furniture.

"I'm following up complaints from the public and news coverage regarding certain practices at six ministries," Senator Grassley said. "It's part of my long-standing interest in making sure tax-exempt organisations are accountable."

The six ministries share features: they have a Pentecostal theology, attract 10,000-strong congregations, have a big television presence and preach a "prosperity gospel" message emphasising material rewards for the faithful.

The ministries are: Randy and Paula White of the Without Walls International Church, of Tampa, Florida; Benny Hinn of World Healing Centre Church Inc in Grapevine, Texas; David and Joyce Meyer of Joyce Meyer Ministries in Fenton, Montana; Kenneth and Gloria Copeland of Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Newark, Texas; Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia; and Creflo Dollar Ministries of College Park, Georgia.

Benny Hinn has toured Australia several times and is known for his flamboyant, highly theatrical style of ministry, which includes televised faith healings and mass spiritual "slayings". He has a post office box in Mansfield, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

Curiously, Joyce Meyer's ministry is also based at a post office box in Mansfield, Queensland.

Creflo reports that it has an office at Unit 1, Olympic Circuit, Southport, Queensland, while the Copelands have an Australia/Asia/Pacific website.

The Copelands visited Australia for seven days last year as part of a mission through the South Pacific. They were aboard their $20 million Cessna Citation jet, bought after an appeal to their congregation to allow them to spread the word further afield.

The US tax agency requires that pastors' compensation be "reasonable", a figure set by collecting comparable salaries and weighing factors such as church size and a pastor's value to the congregation. Internal Revenue Service rules prevent pastors and other insiders from excessive personal gain through their tax-exempt work.

Creflo Dollar said the inquiry could affect "the privacy of every community church in America

Word faith teaches that to be poor is a sin and that one is under a curse if he is not materially prosperous. Word faith also teaches that if you do not give to their ministries you will not be blessed. What does Gods word have to say about the poor?

Proverbs 14:31

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

Proverbs 22:22,23

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

Deuteronomy 15: 7-11

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:

Does God allow Suffering? The word faith teachers say that God wants you to always prosper and that all suffering is from the devil. Let us examine what the bible says about suffering.

Types of Suffering

Consequence of sin (sowing & reaping)

Suffering can be a result of the spiritual, moral, and natural consequences of our own actions and choices. Many things get blamed on God which are not His fault. When you violate the natural and spiritual laws of the universe, then you may pay the consequences.

Galatians 6: 7-10

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting

Correction

Suffering that is brought into our life by God to correct us. when God sees a sin or habit which needs correcting in our life he will correct us. Sometimes correction is sickness allowed to chastize us. THIS IS SCRIPTURAL!! God disciplines US OUT OF LOVE. We experience this discipline as suffering.

Psalm 32

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. To teach and Train

Some suffering may not be a consequence of an particular sin. Trial and testings that God brings into our life are to help us develop and grow spiritual fruit and positive character traits into our life.

Hebrews 12:5-11

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Hebrews 2:10

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Revelational

God causes a situation of suffering so that He might reveal Himself or glorify Himself to others.

John 9:1-3

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Persecution

God allows us to experience suffering at the hand of others. This will result in bringinging glory God.

Matthew 5:10-12

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

1 Peter 3:14-17

But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Reveals the Wheat from the Tares

When persecution comes for preaching the gospel...the true believer is revealed from the false.

Mark 4:16,17

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended

PREACH To proclaim or put forth in a sermon: preached the gospel.Urge acceptance of or compliance with speak, plead, or argue in favour of. To give religious or moral instruction.

Preaching is the proclamation of the word of God to men by men under assignment from God. It is the ordained means for the transmission of the word of God to a lost world; it serves also as an official means of grace for the building up and strengthening of the church of Christ.

Preaching is truth through personality; it may be largely didactic (to teach) or else to lead to faith (to convict and convince) and to motivate (leading to obedience and godly action) Preaching is truth on fire, radically different from a secular lecture or talk; through it the power of God is revealed unto the salvation of souls.

Through preaching men are fed with godly doctrine that leads to holiness, they are exhorted to seek God and his saving grace through Jesus Christ and His cross; they are rebuked because of error and sin; they are encouraged by the faithfulness of God presented to them in the covenant of grace.

Dont think that because you say, Jesus loves you and pat someone on the back that you have preached the gospel. Preaching is passionatly proclaiming( a declaration, issuing an order, delivering a public announcement) the gospel of Jesus Christ)

Preaching may also come in the form of apologetics..... Apologists are authors, writers, editors of scientific logs or academic journals, and leaders known for taking on the points in arguments, conflicts or positions that are either placed under popular scrutinies or viewed under persecutory examinations. The term comes from the Greek word apologia απολογία meaning defense of a position against an attack.Christian apologetics is the field of study concerned with the systematic defense of Christianity. The term "apologetic" comes from the Greek word apologia απολογία which means in defense of; therefore a person involved in Christian or Bible Apologetics is a defender of Christianity. Someone who engages in Christian apologetics is called a "Christian apologist". Christian apologetics have taken many forms over the centuries, starting with Paul of Tarsus, including writers such as Augustine of Hippo and Thomas Aquinas, and continuing today with the modern Christian community through many authors in various Christian traditions. Apologists have based their defense of Christianity on favoring interpretations of historical evidence, philosophical arguments, scientific investigation, and other avenues.

This Classical Greek term appears in the Koine (that is, common) Greek of the New Testament. The apostle Paul employed the term "apologia" in his trial speech to Festus and Agrippa when he said, "I make my defense" (Acts 26:2). In the English language, the word apology, derived from the Greek word "apologia", usually refers to asking for forgiveness for an action that is open to blame. Christian apologetics are meant, however, to argue that Christianity is reasonable and in accordance with the evidence that can be examined, analogous to the use of the term in the Apology of Socrates, written by Plato.

One should not think that those who reason the scriptures with cults, sects, religious mindsets are being rude who are used of God to tear down high and lofty reasoning that conflict with the scriptures. Since we each have our own callings we should not hinder the others ministry or we will be in effect like the little foxes scripture say who come to trample on the lords vineyard and make more trouble by their contray attitude than the unbeliever himself. Satan often uses believersto try to hinder Gods work.....and yes there is accountability for that. We should each menber of the body of Jesus Christ be about our fathers buisness.

Seeker friendly ecumenical believerswho cry out against others for preaching the gospel to those in cults and false religions will have to answer to the lord for their sin!

Just love them they say....but in effect what they really mean is...pat them on the back, say Jesus loves you...go in peace and let them believe what they want to.

My warning is ...the blood of every soul you failed to share the gospel with will be on your head!

The Catholics are our brothers and sisters..don't attack them by telling them the gospel...you are not loving them...the ecumenical say.

The Muslims they are our brothers...be nice to them and maybey they will be nice to us....not what Gods word says!

If you really love people you will share the truth because if you do not these souls will spend eternity in hell and guess what...... it will be partly your fault!

Does that mean that the unbeliever will always appreciate your telling them the gospel...by no means...the sinner hates the gospel message....but you must preach it anyway....perhaps God will open their heart and grant them repentance. It is Gods job to give the increase and our job to preach the gospel.

Isaiah 8:13-18

Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
