Is the doctrine of original sin biblical? .....YES Jan 29, 2008 11:44 pm
221 Views
“Original Sin” is one of the core theological reasons that a Christian cannot embrace the theory of evolution. Regardless of the scientific issues that now plague the evolutionary belief system, the whole message of Christianity starts with mankind’s fall from paradise into death through Adam’s sin. With evolution, we envision millions and millions of years of death, decay and disease before Adam even came on the scene. However, this picture is not consistent with the “very good” earth created by God. More importantly, as one can thoroughly investigate, death before sin is theologically inconsistent with the rest of Christian doctrine.

Christianity is totally committed to the special creation as described in Genesis, and Christianity must fight with its full might against the theory of evolution. And here is why.

In Romans 5:12, we read that “sin entered the world through one man, and through sin - death, and thus death has spread through the whole human race because everyone has sinned.”

The whole justification of Jesus' life and death is predicated on the existence of Adam and the forbidden fruit he and Eve ate. Without the original sin, who needs to be redeemed? Without Adam's fall into a life of constant sin terminated by death, what purpose is there to Christianity? None.

Without Adam, without the original sin, Jesus Christ is reduced to a man with a mission on a wrong planet! Original Sin is the genetic defect we all inherited from Adam and Eve. Through this genetic defect we all inherited death -- both physical and spiritual – and were separated from God. Through Jesus Christ, sin and death WERE CONQUERED and be reconnected to God eternally.

The doctrine of original sin is the identification given to the concept of the entrance of sin into the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve( WHO WERE CREATED IN GODS IMAGE BEFORE THE FAL. Volition comes with responsibility and consequences. God had placed trees in the midst of the garden. Adam and Eve could freely eat the fruit from any tree except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. “But the LORD God gave him this warning: 'You may freely eat any fruit in the garden except fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat of its fruit, you will surely die' (Genesis 2:16-17).

The Hebrew literally says, "dying you shall die." Adam and Eve did not physically die when they ate of the tree but they were spiritually separated from God, which meant an eternal separation -- death. With the choice to disobey God's command came the first sin, and the consequences of that sin was spiritual separation and eventually physical death.

Because of their sin, all those who were born into their union were sinners and that has continued to the present. The only offspring that human beings can bring into the world are children with the sin nature and that requires a remedy. God in His grace provided Adam and Eve a covering (Genesis 3:21) made from animal skins as the first picture of the sacrifice that had to be made continually to cover sin looking forward to that day, in the fullness of time, when the promised Redeemer would come (Genesis 3:15).

This doctrine of original sin is cemented in the New Testament through the writings of the Apostle Paul to the church at Corinth. “So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, Adam, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man, Christ. Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other man, will be given new life” (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).

“The Scriptures tell us, ‘The first man, Adam, became a living person.’ But the last Adam -- that is, Christ -- is a life-giving Spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:45).

What is being taught here is the "headship of Adam" versus the "headship of Christ." All in Adam are born dead or separated from God spiritually and eventually die physically. However, the remedy for original sin and the consequences of separation are found in the "second Adam"; the Lord Jesus Christ.

When the sinner BECOMES BORN AGAIN THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BY THE GIFT OF FAITH and has Jesus Christ as hi saviour his "once for all sacrifice" then we are "crossed from death unto life."

"I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life” (John 5:24)

The sin of all those who belong to Christ are not just covered, but paid for once and for all. There is no other sacrifice needed to satisfy a just and holy God. The believer's "headship" is changed and we are no longer spiritually separated from God. Because of Christ's victory over physical death in the resurrection, so shall all born again believers receive victory over death in our resurrection from physical death.

“When this happens -- when our perishable earthly bodies have been transformed into heavenly bodies that will never die -- then at last the Scriptures will come true: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. How we thank God, who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57).

The question, "Is the doctrine of original sin biblical?” is answered by a confident yes. Our thanks is to God that His love and grace did not leave us in our original state.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS....THE DISERNING OF SPIRITS Jan 29, 2008 1:43 am

The gift of the discerning of Spirits is not the same as the motivational gift of discernment.

The motivational gift of discernment is the ability to understand with perception, judging wisely and objectively, knowing times and seasons, rightly dividing truth.

The gift of the discerning of spirits is the supernatural revelation gift that distinguishes what spirit is operating. Whether it is an evil spirit, the holy Spirit, or the spirit (heart) of man. This gift operates differently in those who have it. I personally received this gift as soon as I got born again by the holy Spirit.

This gift operates in various ways. Through dreams, visions, or the witness (knowing) of the spirit ( or body impressions. )

Dreams

Dreams may be symbolic in nature or relay a story (like a parable) to identify the operation of the spirit realm. Dreams may warn of spiritual attack, reveal the state of someones soul or spiritual condition, identify a demonic power or reveal the an upcoming move of God. These dreams from the Lord will be very vivid in nature and remembered.

Visions

There are 3 types of visions

1. Mental Picture

A vivid picture comes to the mind. This is not brought on by any altered state of consciousness that is man made but is a spontaneous picture deposited in the mind by the will of God when ever, or where ever the Lord pleases.

2. Open Faced vision

A large TV like screen appears before the eyes and a vision appears. Also called a trance. Where the person may feel he is in a different realm. Even Paul who experienced heaven in his vision could not properly describe it. Also brought on at Gods will.

3. Vision appearances

This is where one sees with his eyes into the spiritual realm. An angelic visitation, a demonic appearance, the presence of the shenika glory.

Body Impressions

This is an operation of the gift of discerning of spirits that identifies the presence of evil spirits, the different types of holy Spirit anointing (manifestations), and also the heart conditions of man. With this gift operation the person perceives through spiritual sences much like natural receptors, what spirit is operating. If the heart is angry, envious, jealous, fearful, the body impression is felt by the person who has this gift operation. The person does not have to be there in person. One can get this in intercession for someone or simply over the phone or on a computer. This is a way that I get off some sites quickly when I feel a bad spirit coming from it. Can one know if someone is saved having this gift? Yes, they can.

This gift also identifies different types of demonic activity. I can sense a lust spirit, alcohol spirit, lying spirit, by a body impression as given to me by the lord. Also, one can sense the anointing flowing for healing, evangelism, miracles, faith, ect.

To know in ones spirit is a sensory perception given by the holy Spirit. These operations can also bring words of knowledge or words of wisdom as the holy Spirit wills.

Remember that the occult also operates in the soul realm in the supernatural and we must test all things by the word of God for that is our final authority over any experience. One thing that I would like to mention is that occult people with divination many times masquerade as Christians but they do not have the holy Spirit. They operate in a different spirit. Remember that those who performed miracles and prophesied in Jesus teaching in the gospels were not known by God. They were not born again.

Many Christians think that the gifts have passed away but they have not. God says to earnestly desire the gifts because the gifts are really a person. The holy Spirit who wants to perform Gods will in the earth through his people. We have this glory in earthen vessels! Sweethoney

Scripture references

Many of the Prophets of old saw visions and had dreams from the Lord. Ezekiel saw the throne of God (Ezekiel 1), Daniel dreamed dreams that (Daniel 8: 27, Daniel 10)

Joel 2: 28, 29

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit

Numbers 12: 6

And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

Job 33:14-17

Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed. Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man

John 10:4

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice

GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT...WORD OF WISDOM Jan 25, 2008 1:18 am

1 Corinthians 12:8

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.

The Greek logos sophia () translates to “word of wisdom” This is a revelatory gift and is not the same as the wisdom one gets as we grow maturiture in the Lord. It is a supernatural imparting of wisdom to the a christian by the Holy Spirit. A spontaneous manifestation of a supernatural insight or perspective to the mind or spirit of the Christian.

The Gift of the word of wisdom also enables one to express the Holy Spirit's revelation knowledge to either an individual or to a group of people, or in the church that surpasses any natural ability.

Scriptural examples

The people who heard Stephen speak were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke. Acts 6:10

Luke 21:15

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

The Apostle Paul in dealing with the spirit of divination in a woman in Acts 16:16-18

Paul did not rush in straightaway and deliver the girl. He waited many days before confronting it. That was the word of wisdom. This example does not mean that a similar case would necessarily be handled the same way.

The Apostle Peter in dealing with Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-16

Peter used the word of wisdom to make sure that both Ananias and Sapphira exposed their sin and then suffered the consequences of their own actions. He did not accuse Sapphira on the confession of her husband alone, but wisely heard from her as well.

Solomon passing a judgment in 1 Kings 3:16-28.

A Old Testament example is that of Solomon passing judgment on the women who were arguing over their two children. One was dead and one alive. Both women were claiming that the remaining live child was their's and the dead child was the other's. Solomon called for a sword to divide the remaining live child in two, so the women could have half each. When Solomon made that decision known, the true mother of the living child cried out to give her child to the other woman in order to save its life. Solomon then knew who the real mother was. This judgment from Solomon caused all Israel to see that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS.....THE WORD OF KNOWLEGE Jan 24, 2008 2:07 pm

1 Corinthians 12:8

For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit.

A word of knowledge is a message that provides particular information that is needed at a particular time. The word of knowledge may provide direction in ministry, or it may provide information on possible traps or danger, or a word may be tell of a future event to happen in ones life, or something in a persons past for the purpose of prayer.

Prophecy gives a message about God’s will or his intentions. That word can be corrective as in a rebuke or encouraging but a word may come through visions, dreams, or just an inward knowing given by the Spirit of God.

"Word" Greek: "logos" is "the spoken word.

"Knowledge": Greek: "gnosis" is "knowing, or recognition, the knowledge or understanding of a thing, the insight which manifests itself in the thorough understanding of the subjects with which it meets and in the conduct determined thereby"

The word of knowledge received from the Holy Spirit is given to enable us to more effectively minister to the needs of people, to know and understand situations, circumstances, strategies of the enemy (power of darkness), etc. It enables us to know how to speak in the above situations with a knowledge that brings answers, healing and understanding to a situation.

Many people today are given a great capacity for understanding Divine Truth, but this understanding is attained only by effort in the normal processes of learning. This gift of knowledge needs no such effort: the truth is simply revealed by God.

Having knowledge is not the same as a word of knowledge.Knowledge is the capacity for understanding Divine Truth but the word of knowledge is a word of truth that is simply revealed by God.

Examples of this gift in operation

Luke 11:14-26

And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.

John 1:48-50

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

John Chapter 4

He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
And he must needs go through Samaria.
Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

ANANIAS: – The conversion of Saul (Acts 9:1-31, especially Verse10-1.

CORNELIUS: –To find Simon Peter (Acts 10 1 - 8 )

PETER: – To help him break his bigotry against the Gentiles (Acts 10 9 – 17 and Acts11:2-19)

PETER: – When the three men from Cornelius came looking for him (Acts 10 17 - 21)

PETER: – When he exposed the sin of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11). (Peter was functioning in the authority of an apostle here).

PAUL: – Knew a man called Ananias (not the same Ananias of Acts 5) would come and put his hand on him and pray for him to receive his sight (Acts 9:4-18; Acts 22 : 7 - 16 )

PAUL: – Was warned of God to get out of Jerusalem quickly (Acts 22:17-21).

THE PROPHETS: – At Antioch had a Word of Knowledge that Barnabas and Paul were to be separated for the work of God (Acts 13:1-4).

PAUL: – And the Macedonian call (Acts 16:9-10).

PHILIP: – Was told to jump on the Ethiopian’s chariot (Acts 8:26-40).

OLD TESTAMENT EXAMPLES:

It is possible that the Word of Knowledge operated through Spirit-filled men in the Old Testament:

ELIJAH: – In showing himself to King Ahab (1 Kings 8:1-2).

ELIJAH: – In the choosing of Elisha to succeed him (1Kings19:15-16).

ELISHA: – Over the deeds of Gehazi his servant (2 Kings 5:20-27).

SAMUEL: – In the finding of Saul’s asses and the call of God on Saul (1 Samuel 9:15-27).

The gifts of the Spirit often work in conjunction with each other.

BEWARE OF ...........WHY THE DOCTRINE OF ORIGINAL SIN IS FALSE Jan 23, 2008 1:24 pm
314 Views
Beware of this guys false teaching!!!!

The Fall of Man, refers to the transition of the first humans from a state of innocent obedience to God to a state of guilty disobedience to God.
All humankind drawn from Eve and Adam's sin, which was called original sin. Sola scriptura.

The Fall corrupted the entire natural world, including human nature, causing people to be born into original sin, a state from which they cannot attain eternal life without the gracious intervention of God. Jesus' death was a ransom by which men are made forever free from the sin by Gods grace and not works.

Romans 5:12-19

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

1 Cor. 15:21-22

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS...PROPHECY Jan 23, 2008 12:48 pm

1 Corinthians 12

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.
That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

The gift of prophecy can be used for the edification of the church with exhorataion and comfort as well as inspired preaching but also in conjunction with the Prophet ministry in foretelling and forthtelling, which is predicting the future and preaching. A prophet is God's messenger who speaks a message from the holy Spirit to the church. Sometimes that message is regarding the future.

The Greek word paramuthia in 1 Corinthians 14:3 alongside paraklesis means encouragement, comfort, consolation, but is difficult to distinguish clearly from paraklesis. It derives from para, beside and muthos, speech, word, saying. In classical Greek it could refer to any address, whether made for the purpose of persuading, or of arousing and stimulating or of calming and consoling, exhortation to obedience, and service, as well as encouragement and comfort from the holy Spirit to those who are experiencing pain and trouble This is one aspect of the Holy Spirit's building up of the church through the gift of prophecy.

The gift of prophecy is different from the ministry gift of the prophet. Not all who prophecy are prophets. Many are rather exhorters in the body of Christ. Prophecy is divine utterance. It is holy Spirit inspirational speech. Visions and dreams are revelation gifts. However, the gifts often work in conjunction with one another. Prophecy however is utterance.

I Thessalonians 5:19-20 commands the Christian to prove, or test, all prophecies.

Acts 2:17-18

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

The warning that Christ gave against false prophets indicates that there will also be true ones.

Matthew 7:15

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves

SPIRITUAL GIFTS....TOUNGES Jan 22, 2008 12:57 pm

1 Cor 12 : 7 - 11

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

I have heard various teachings on this subject over the years. Most in my opinion are only partial truth. I will show you based on the word of God and my personal experience, what this gift is and how it opertates.

First of all the gift of tounges is divided into three categories.

1. The prayer language tounges

2. Divers kinds of tounges

3. Tounges and interpretation.

First of all, lets get this question out of the way. Do all speak with tounges? No. This is because tounges are given for a specific purpose according to ones calling in the Lord and not randomly or to everyone.

The prayer language tounges may be only one or two languages and may be angelic speach or the language of men. Do angels have their own language? Who knows, but they certainly are not Englishmen! The bible does say ..the tounges of men and angels does it not? This could be the reason why sometimes tounges are not recognizable languages.

The prayer tounges are used to worship God, interceed, and do warfare against Satan...yes folks the devil understands your tounges. He can speak alot of languages I am sure and after all he is a fallen angel.

1 Cor 14:18

I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

1 Cor 14:14-15

If I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.

Divers (many) tounges is the gift used to preach the gospel to the lost in foreign languages. Why do I know this? Because I have this gift and yes, I have used it. My tounges consist of many languages that I recognize but do not speak in the natural. I do however recognize many of the words I say from some of the languages that I am familiar with. The tounges are many and do change at the Lords will. I would be a perfect candidate for any tounge tester scientist out there, if you know any..lol. This gift of tounges is a sign to the unbeliever.

Mark 16:17

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues

1 Cor 14:21-22

In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe

The gift of tounges and interpretation is another tounge manifestaion of the holy Spirit. It is equivelent to prophesy and used in a piblic situation. A tounge brings forth a message by the holy Spirit and the interpretaion is brought forth. The one bringing the tounge message should interpret other wise the tounge used may only be a prayer tounge.

1 Cor 14:5

I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

1 Cor 14:27-33

If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. {29} Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

I hope I have clarified this much confusing and controversal subject. One day in heaven we will not need tounges for we will not see in part but will know even as we are known. Please feel free to ask any question you like and share any tounge experience you desire. Sweethoney

1 Cor 13:8-13

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Cor 14:39

Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Spiritual gifts Series....Ministry gifts to the body of Jesus Christ Jan 20, 2008 4:30 pm

The ministries ( gifts) that God has set in the body of Christ are for the building up of the church. God calls and equips his elect in order to stand in one of these offices. This is not the work of man, but a calling and placing by Jesus Christ, the Head of the church. These offices are as follows:

APOSTLE- In the Bible, apostle is a title conferred on one sent with a message. A person sent by another; a messenger; envoy. Expounds on Doctrine and brings Discipline to the church. Enjoys building projects, starting churches or ministries. The apostles will think, see and act strategically. They see the big picture in the kingdom of God. The apostle has the ability to function in any of the five fold gifts if needed, though they will tend to exhibit a greater anointing or ability in one or two of the other five fold gifts. These are some attributes of an Apostle.

pioneering new churches (1 Corinthians 9: 2; 1Corinthians 3: 6)
grounds the Church in truth (Colossians 1: 25)
preserves unity in the Body (1 Corinthians 3: 3-5)
lays foundations in the Church (1 Corinthians 3:10)
sets things in order (Titus 1: 5)
imparts spiritual gifts (Romans 1: 11)
fathers new ministries (2 Timothy 1: 6; 1 Corinthians 4: 15)
a breakthrough-type ministry of miracles, signs and wonders (2 Corinthians 12: 12; Acts 2: 43; Acts 5: 12)
a ministry of warfare (2 Corinthians 10: 4-5)
prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6: 4)

PROPHET- Discerns by the Spirit and Proclaims God's Word to the church. To speak the heart, mind, or will of God into the lives of others, as the Spirit of God leads. Has a deep sense of Justice. A prophet, one who is used in the ministry office of prophet may be used to bring correction or warn of impending judgment. The prophet’s job and responsibility is to convey the heart of God as is revealed to him by the Lord. Operates in the revelation and inspirational gifts and may also operate in the power gifts.

EVANGELIST-Presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost. Messenger of good, bringer of good tidings. Enjoys contact with people. Evangelists focus on evangelism and messages that will stir up the gift of faith. They have a God given passion for those without Christ. They sometimes see things pastors do not see like people in the community who are overlooked or forgotten. They hear the heart's cry of the needy and often have compassion and mercy ministries.

PASTOR- The Greek word for pastor is poimen which means "one who tends sheep or cares for flocks" ( 1 Peter 5: 1-4; John 21: 15 -17). But this word is used only in Ephesians 4: 11. Elsewhere in the New Testament, other words are used: "shepherd", "elder" and "overseer"The Ministry of an Elder An elder is not a particular type of ministry, but rather is a leader in the Body (1 Peter 5: 1; 2 John 1; 3 John 1). "To the elders among you...Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers..." 1 Peter 5: 2 (also Acts 20: 17, 28-31). The word "elder" - presbuteros - refers to any leadership ministry. An elder may be one of the five or an "overseer" - episkopos - over a local church. But whether a person is a pastor (one of the five-fold ministry) or an overseeing elder (in charge of a local body), both are called to be shepherds. Following the example of the Chief Shepherd (John 10: 1-16), a shepherd's ministry is to feed (verse 9); protect (verse 12), guide (verses 3-4) and love (verse 15) the sheep.

TEACHER- Instruct the Church in the practical application of God's Word. Is able to explain complex issues in a way that people can understand. Teachers are those who have received the gift of teaching that is included in the list of the gifts of grace (motivational gifts) in Romans 12. It is a gift which enablesa person to understand the teachings of God’s Word and to equips them to instruct the church in doctrinal matters.

Ephesians 4:8-14 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
