GOD ALLOWS EVIL TO EXIST TO DEMONSTRATE HIS GLORY. Apr 14, 2008 2:28 pm
403 Views
Would you really understand the righteousness of God if you didn't understand unrighteousness? God is faithful to His promises to Israel and their sin and unbelief cannot alter God's covenant, cannot alter God's faithfulness. God is righteous. God will do what He said for Israel and even Israel's unrighteousness cannot cancel God's righteousness, but rather gives Him opportunity to demonstrate that righteousness.

Romans 3:3-5 , But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Even Israel's departure from the truth does no damage to God's truth or God's glory. With regard to Israel, their unrighteousness only made God's righteousness all the more glorious. And in general, unrighteousness only makes righteousness the more wondrous. And so God by allowing unrighteousness is demonstrating his righteousness.

Would we understand righteousness without unrighteousness? Would we understand love without sin? Would we understand the love of God in Christ to us if we did not understand how sinful and undeserving and wretched we are?

Would we understand the significance of the sufferings of Jesus Christ on the cross for us? Not at all. The cross is the greatest display of the love of God, it is a massive display of the love of God against the backdrop of sin. Our being sinners, our being enemies allows God to put His love on open display.

God demonstrates His righteousness in a context of unrighteousness. God demonstrates His love in a context of hate among enemies.

Romans 9, What if God although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction.

He did so in order that He might make known or demonstrates the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy which He prepared beforehand for glory, his elect.

Again we see God allowing sin to put on a display, to put on a demonstration. "What if God determining to demonstrate, to display, to openly show His wrath and make His power known endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction?"

God allowed evil to put His righteousness on display. God allowed evil to put His love on display. And God allowed evil to put His wrath on display. To demonstrate His wrath. And by doing that, He put His holiness on display.

"And He did so in order that He might make known, the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy." To display His mercy. God also willed to make known, or display His mercy on the vessels which He had prepared beforehand for glory, his elect. It is God's nature to manifest His righteousness and to display and manifest His love, and to display and manifest His wrath, and to display and manifest His grace and His holiness.

GOD ORDAINS EVERYTHING.....ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD. Apr 13, 2008 10:51 am

God controls absolutely everything. There is no evil outside His plan. There is no evil outside His purpose. He knows everything that can be known, that is knowable. He has comprehensive power to do everything that can be done that is possible. That is what the Bible says about God. And in that perfect knowledge, and in that perfect power, and with perfect holiness, and expressing His perfect love, God ordains everything.

Psalm 33:9 to 11

He spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast. The Lord brings the counsel of the heathen to naught, He makes the devices of the people of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations

Psalm 103:19

The Lord has prepared His throne in the heavens. His Kingdom rules over all.

Isaiah 14:27

The Lord of host has purposed and who shall disannul it? His hand is stretched out, who shall turn it back?

Isaiah 46:9,10

Remember the former things of old, for I am God, there is none else, I am God. There is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times to things that are not yet done, saying My counsel shall stand, I will do all My pleasure.

I Samuel 2:6 to 8

The Lord kills and makes alive. He brings down to the grave, and brings up. He makes poor and makes rich. He brings low and lifts up.

Amos 3:6

If there is a calamity in the city, will not the Lord have done it?

THE LORD DOES WHAT SEEMS GOOD TO HIM Apr 12, 2008 11:51 pm

God is sovereign which means that he is in complete charge of absolutely everything. The bible is very clear that God is behind what we would classify as good things and what we would classify as evil things, or bad things.

God created out of His own free choice everything that is, ordained everything that is.

2 Samuel 10:12

The Lord does what seems to Him good.

Timothy 6:15

He is the only potentate, or ruler. He is the only sovereign, the only monarch.

Revelation 4:11

You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power, for You have created all things and for Your pleasure they are and were created.

Proverbs 16:4

The Lord has made all things for Himself, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Exodus 4:11

The Lord said to Moses, 'Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I the Lord?

Psalm 105:16

He called for a famine upon the land.

2 Kings 17:25

They did not fear the Lord, therefore the Lord sent lions which killed some of them.

Deuteronomy 32:39

See now that I, I am God...and there is no God beside Me, it is I who put to death and give life. I have wounded. It is I who heal and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

Scripture repeatedly affirms the sovereignly of God over everything. God's sovereignty is absolute, irresistible and infinite

I Chronicles 29:11,12

Thine, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty. For all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine. Thine is the Kingdom, O Lord. Thou art exalted as head above all. Thou reignest over all and in Thine hand is power and might and in Thine hand is to make great to give strength unto all

Psalm 115:3

Our God is in the heavens, He has done whatever He pleased.

Daniel 4:35

He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth and none can stay His hand or say unto Him, 'What are you doing?

Met Police officers to be 'microchipped' by top brass in Big Brother style tracking scheme Apr 11, 2008 10:27 am

Daily Mail
10th April 2008

Every single Metropolitan police officer will be 'microchipped' so top brass can monitor their movements on a Big Brother style tracking scheme, it can be revealed today.

According to respected industry magazine Police Review, the plan - which affects all 31,000 serving officers in the Met, including Sir Ian Blair - is set to replace the unreliable Airwave radio system currently used to help monitor officer's movements.

The new electronic tracking device - called the Automated Personal Location System (APLS) - means that officers will never be out of range of supervising officers.

But many serving officers fear being turned into "Robocops" - controlled by bosses who have not been out on the beat in years.

According to service providers Telent, the new technology 'will enable operators in the Service's operations centres to identify the location of each police officer' at any time they are on duty - whether overground or underground.

Although police chiefs say the new technology is about 'improving officer safety' and reacting to incidents more quickly, many rank and file believe it is just a Big Brother style system to keep tabs on them and make sure they don't 'doze off on duty'.

Some officers are concerned that the system - which will be able to pinpoint any of the 31,000 officers in the Met to within a few feet of their location - will put a complete end to community policing and leave officers purely at the beck and call of control room staff rather than reacting to members of the public on the ground.

Pete Smyth, chairman of the Met Police Federation, said: "This could be very good for officers' safety but it could also involve an element of Big Brother.

"We need to look at it very carefully."

Other officers, however, were more scathing, saying the new system - set to be implemented within the next few weeks - will turn them into 'Robocops' simply obeying instructions from above rather than using their own judgement.

One officer, working in Peckham, south London, said: "They are keeping the exact workings of the system very hush-hush at the moment - although it will be similar to the way criminals are electronically tagged. There will not be any choice about wearing one.

"We depend on our own ability and local knowledge to react to situations accordingly.

"Obviously we need the back up and information from control, but a lot of us feel that we will simply be used as machines, or robots, to do what we are told with little or no chance to put in anything ourselves."

He added: "Most of us joined up so we could apply the law and think for ourselves, but if Sarge knows where we are every second of the day it just makes it difficult."

Another officer, who did not want to be named, said: "A lot of my time is spent speaking to people in cafes, parks or just wherever I'm approached. If I feel I've got my chief breathing down my neck to make another arrest I won't feel I'm doing my job properly."

The system is one of the largest of its kind in the world, according to Telent, the company behind the technology, although neither the Met nor Telent would provide Police Review with any more information about exactly how the system will work or what sort of devices officers will wear.

Nigel Lee, a workstream manager at the Met, said: "Safety is a primary concern for all police forces.

"The area served by our force covers 620 miles and knowing the location of our officers means that not only can we provision resource more quickly, but should an officer need assistance, we can get to them even more quickly."

Forces currently have the facility to track all their officers through GPS devices on their Airwave radio headsets, but this is subject to headsets being up to date and forces buying the back office systems to accompany them, according to Airwave.

Steve Rands, health and safety head for the Met Police Federation, told Police Review: "This is so that we know where officers are. Let us say that when voice distortion or sound quality over the radio is lost, if you cannot hear where that officer telling you where he is, you can still pinpoint his exact position by global positioning system.

"If he needs help but you cannot hear him for whatever reason, APLS will say where he is."

MODERN CHRISTIANITY EMBRASES THE DOCTRINE OF HUMANISM Apr 10, 2008 6:19 pm

MODERN CHRISTIANITY EMBRASES THE DOCTRINE OF HUMANISM

Humanism is a non-theistically based philosophy which promotes humanity as the measure of all things. It had its roots in the rationalism of the 18th Century and the free thought movement of the 19th Century.

Christian humanism saw an explosion in the Renaissance, emanating from an increased faith in the capabilities of Man, married with a still-firm devotion to Christianity. Mere Humanism might value earthly existence as something worthy in itself, whereas Christian humanism would value such existence, so long as it were combined with the Christian faith. One of the first writings regarding Christian humanism was BY Giovanni Pico della Mirandola. Oration on the Dignity of Man

ARMINIANISM IS JUST ADDING GOD TO HUMANISM. HOW SUBTLE IS HERESY!

The Christian Humanist Manifesto
from the Christian humanist.

The proper study of (hu)mankind is not (hu)man(ity) alone, but God and (hu)man together. The triune God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--is the Creator of the Universe and of each person within it. God, who is the ultimate meaning of the universe, is eternally self-existent, though the created order is not.

By thus acknowledging God, the Christian view of reality embraces more than does that of the secular humanist.

Human nature combines physical and spiritual, natural and supra-natural characteristics. To the physical and sexual, and social aspects of normal human life, in which we rejoice, must be added the understanding that human beings alone of all creation are made in God's own image.

We can, therefore, create, love, assert, reflect on our past and future, communicate with words, and distinguish good and evil. Even more fundamentally we can worship the One whose image we bear. This gives (hu)man(s) an intrinsic dignity beyond mere animals. Human beings can never be understood only as animals, however complex, for at heart they are religious beings.

Because human beings, male and female, bear God's image, their life, which is his gift, claims our care and protection throughout, from the time of conception to the furthest point at which it can continue. Neither abortions of convenience nor euthanasia when social usefulness has passed can therefore be justified.

The meaning of human life is moral and spiritual: moral, in the performance of God's will, which is both just and loving; spiritual, in a fellowship with God and other persons. No human life, however prosperous, healthy, or devoted to others is complete when this moral and spiritual development is lacking.

From his creation, (hu)man(s) as male and female has been given stewardship over nature, commanded by God to develop a culture and nourish human life from the productive earth.
Labor and leisure, science and art, family and state, belong to human life as God meant it to be. Yet the meaning of life is not found in these activities but in the God who enables them.

God created and maintains pattern and consistency in the universe, making science and technology possible. Secular humanism, lacking this ultimate foundation for science, must posit the consistency of the universe as a mysterious "given."

The form and materials of his creation also make art and beauty possible: human creativity thus echoes God's own.

Something of God's character and will may be known by all people, even if dimly and with confusion. An awareness of God and of moral standards is natural to (hu)mankind, and the urge to worship, though often misdirected, is indestructible.

God the Creator has clearly revealed his character and will in history, culminating in Jesus Christ. This revelation, in which God interpreted for us the whole of human life and met in principle the whole of human duty, is now permanently available in Holy Scripture; and no one who lacks knowledge of it knows enough for a fully human life.

Though we know only in part, God's revealed truth is absolute, not relative. Because truth can be known, error can be identified, and a path is thereby opened through the contemporary religious and philosophical confusion.

Human life is blighted by the alienation from God introduced by human disobedience after (hu)man's creation. Moral evil, though universal throughout history, is therefore abnormal. Its root lies in human rebellion against God's Lordship and the rule of his law.

Ours has become a bent world: selfishness, violence, injustice, pride, self-destructiveness, and inhumanity everywhere pervade human life.
This evil may appear in individuals or institutions. It is manifest in governments, businesses, and families. The human will, rather than social conditions alone, however, is the decisive factor in evil. No explanation of human brutality that omits sinful choice is adequate.

In the face of this pervasive evil, God maintains a governance of human affairs that sets limits to evil, prospers human life, and preserves his purpose in history. The end of history, like its beginning, is under the sovereign control of God.

To end our alienation from him and to restore human life to its original design and purpose, our Creator has acted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a first-century Jew who was, in truth, the second person of the Trinity, God incarnate.

The appearance of Christ, therefore, is the most important event in all human history. By his sacrificial death, he paid the moral debt of those sinners who submit to his transforming reconciliation.
The loving service of God and man which Jesus taught and practiced perfectly is the model of true humanness.

The Kingdom of God Begun From the ministry of Christ sprang an international, multiracial community of forgiven sinners. They acknowledge a common calling to proclaim Jesus as King and to bring all human life under his sway. This community, the Church, despite failures, inconsistences, and hypocrisies, has pioneered a many-sided humanitarianism.

The Christian movement has been the cultural matrix of the modern Western world. Christian fruit, however, cannot continue in society without Christian convictions.

THE World Crisis

Current social and political problems are overwhelming: international tensions, crime, family breakdown, abuse of the powerless (including the unborn and the aged), scarcity of resources, nuclear threat, and more.
Christian humanism offers, not a program to solve these problems, but a framework for their solution--truth linked to spiritual power.

Human life is nor perfectible and progress is not inevitable, but despair at the human prospect is no more justified than is naive optimism. Hope for (hu)mankind lies in the knowledge that Jesus Christ, the Lord of all things, will make all things new at his Second Coming. The Christian Humanist therefore avoids both the pessimism and the over-optimism of secular humanism.

The individual Christian, facing death, can likewise know that conscious friendship with God and other persons is forever. Death can destroy the body, but it does not destroy the person or meaning.

In contrast to secular humanism, therefore, Christian humanism does not hesitate to speak of absolute truth, goodness, beauty, love, morality, the sanctity of life, duty, fidelity, hope, and immortality. These are not empty religious sentiments but the natural language of those who know even if partially, of their creation and redemption by a loving God.

"God has made everything beautiful in its time. He hasalso set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannotfathom what God has done from beginning to end."

ARMINIANISM...the god of their own inventions Apr 10, 2008 10:37 am

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." (I Cor. 2:14)

The term Humanism defined by Webster: "A doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on human interests or values; especially a philosophy that assures the dignity and worth of man and his capacity for self realization through reason and often that rejects supernaturalism." This definition, as will be shown in the following consideration of the term is diametric or the very opposite of biblical anthropology.

Arminianism defined: It is a religious system centered in man. According to Arminianism, it is man that makes the decrees of God effectual. It consists of five (5) articles, i.e., 1. Conditional election. 2. Universal atonement; (That is, Christ in His sacrificial death made atonement for all of mankind). 3. Regeneration brings good works. 4. Divine grace is resistible. 5. Believers may finally fall from grace and be eternally lost.

The main or central feature of Arminianism and Humanism is the idea that man is superior to God, and that man can, in and of himself, solve all of his problems without any supernatural help. An early perpetrator of Arminianism and Humanism is third century Pelagianism, which exalted the human will above that of the God of the Bible.

MAN CAN CHOOSE HIS OWN SALVATION....MAN CAN THINK POSTITIVE AND BE ALL HE WANTS TO BE.....MAN CAN EXERCISE FAITH AND GET ALL HIS DESIRES....MAN CAN MANIPULATED GOD THROUGH SPIRITUAL LAWS. GOD LOVES MAN...GOD NEEDS MAN...GOD IS DEPENDANT ON MAN.

HUMANISM OF ARMINIANISM in the light of Scripture revelation concerning the absolute sovereignty of God. To say that God is sovereign is to own and proclaim that He is Almighty, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and that "He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased."(Psa. 115:3). It is the inescapable obligation of the Adamic family to recognize the sovereignty of God, and to ascribe perfect praise unto Him. (Psa. 46:10; I Pet. 2:9). The God of the Bible has emphatically declared: "I am the first and the last; and beside me there is no God"(Isa. 44:6). Every other god (?) is conjured up by vain imagination, the figment of which is the very ground of both Humanism and Arminianism. The fatal aspect of these two nefarious "isms" is not that they do not have a god, but that their god is such an one as their inventors. (Psa. 50:21)
