Today my father in law ( we are good friends) called me from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. His step Son (Jim) was beaten by a gang of Cree youth and stabbed. He is in critical condition.

Pray for the boys recovery but also for help for Cree First Nations people in the prairies. They need to come into healing. The social problems there are great. Bill is going to seek outside help in the investigation for finding the youth. Last week there was a baby rape on the reserve and alot of incest. These people really need help. Pray for God to send ministers of the gospel. Thanks. Kim

THE LAW IS FULLFILLED IN CHRIST...BROUGHT TO A COMPLETION Oct 5, 2008 2:19 pm

Jesus Christ did not come to destroy or to abolish the law or the Prophets. Every jot and tittle or last letter of the law is still in effect, but Jesus makes it very clear that what He came to do, is to FULFILL them or in other words to accomplish or to carry into effect by bringing the law to a finish or completion.

By fulfilling the law Jesus Christ satisfied the law's requirements in the Christians's place. In other words, the required obedience is accomplished in Him. Therefore, in Christ do Christians keep all the law faithfully, and cannot be accused. In this way, Christians are no longer judged by any of the everlasting laws, for Christians are under the Grace of God. The law does not anymore condemn the born again child of God.

The law stands, but it cannot condemn the Christian because the christian is made free from the law in Christ, in Whose righteousness Christians stand. New Testament Christianity doesn't do away with the Old Testament laws, it stands in the revelation that the Messiah came to fulfill those laws, or to make complete, or to accomplish what was required that those laws not condemn the Christian. He brought the law to completion, having stood in for us a substitute that the strength of sin (the law) not condemn us.

An example would be the Old Testament seventh day Sabbath which looked forward to Messiah our "Rest" wherein we cease from our own works, is fulfilled or completed in Christ. It is through His works that Christians will enter into rest, and cease from the requirement of our works. Without the good works, we would have been condemned by the law, but because of Christ Jesus and His good works, we rest from our works in Him.

The Old Testament rest of the Sabbath looked forward to this Grace, wherein we cease from works. Therefore, it being fulfilled, we would no more rest on the seventh day Sabbath as we would sacrifice a lamb on an altar, or put the blood on the door posts. And for the exact same reasons. That everlasting law has not be abrogated, it is fulfilled in the blood of Christ whom it was the shadow of. We can't arbitrarily take one law of sacrificing a Lamb and say we must keep this one, while discarding all the other Old Testament laws which God clearly said were also everlasting laws. We have to keep all the laws or keep none. With men this is impossible, but with God it is.

In other words, if we're going to keep old testament laws, we better keep all of them. Which of course is impossible, except in Christ! What Christian today follows the Old Testament law of going to Jerusalem three times a year? That's the law of God! What christian follows the law of splashing blood on the door posts? That also is the law of God. But you see, there are some groups who want to pick and choose (depending upon their traditions) what Old Testament laws they want to keep, and not keep.

But the law isn't a salad bar where we take what we want, and leave the rest. If we are indebted to one law, we're indebted to all the laws. Thank God Christ fulfilled "all" the law, and that includes the law of God's Sabbath rest! This is illustrated for us in passages like Hebrews 4:1-11. That rest is the Kingdom of God! We keep the everlasting Sabbath by being in Christ, our Sabbath of Rest. Our completion of the sojourn is in Him. The seventh day Sabbath was a shadow looking forward to Him! And with the coming of Him (the True), the shadow preceding this Real is passed away. The requirement of the Old Testament law is then satisfied. i.e., Christ came not to do away with the law, but to satisfy it. He came to bring the conditions of the law into completion. ..to fulfill it!

Likewise, the laws concerning unclean meats which were an illustration that nothing unclean was to come unto the children of Israel, was completed in Christ. With the New Testament, that veil of mystery concerning it has been lifted for us. "The Old Testament concealed is the New Testament revealed!" If one does not accept the Authority of the New Testament, then the Old Testament is still co

THE LAW DEMANDS PERFECTION...CAN YOU LIVE UP TO IT???? Oct 5, 2008 12:36 am

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth Romans 10:4

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the purpose and object of the law. It was given to lead us to him. The law is our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, or rather our attendant to conduct us to the school of Jesus. The law is the great net in which the fish are enclosed that they may be drawn out of the element of sin. The law is the stormy wind which drives souls into the harbour or refuge. The law is the sheriff's officer to shut men up in prison for their sin, concluding them all under condemnation in order that they may look to the free grace of God alone for deliverance. This is the object of the law: it empties that grace may fill, and wounds that mercy may heal. It has never been God's intention towards us, as fallen men, that the law should be regarded as a way to salvation to us, for a way of salvation it can never be. Had man never fallen, had his nature remained as God made it, the law would have been most helpful to him to show him the way in which he should walk: and by keeping it he would have lived, for "he that doeth these things shall live in them." But ever since man has fallen the Lord has not proposed to him a way of salvation by works, for he knows it to be impossible to a sinful creature. The law is already broken; and whatever man can do he cannot repair the damage he has already done: therefore he is out of court as to the hope of merit. The law demands perfection, but man has already fallen short of it; and therefore let him do his best. He cannot accomplish what is absolutely essential. The law is meant to lead the sinner to faith in Christ, by showing the impossibility of any other way.

C. H. SPURGEON

If righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain[ . Gal. 2:21

This sin of claiming Jesus Christ's death to be in vain, is a sin against the Holy Spirit, who had prepared the body that the Lord lived in, and died in. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, (Matt. 1:20) and was anointed by the Spirit without measure. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, Luke 4: 18

The Holy Ghost assisted the Lord Jesus Christ and witnessed of him, in his birth, death and at his resurrection. When Stephen was preaching to his accusers, he said to those who rejected Christ, "Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did"

What does it mean to resist the Holy Spirit? It means to despise the blood covenant by adding works to faith. For without the works of the law Christians are justified because of faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot add anything to the new Covenant of Grace. Cain's sacrifice was unacceptable to God because he wanted to earn Gods favor by his works. However, God does not accept any toil or labor of man, rather just as he accepted Able’s sacrifice, the lamb which was slain, it is still the only acceptable merit that God will accept today. The blood of Jesus is the only thing that will save you and keep you saved.

God will not accept your works no matter how noble they may be. Many will say on that Day of Judgment…..Lord did we not do wonderful works in your name? But Jesus will say, Depart from me YOU WORKERS OF INIQUITY, I DO NOT KNOW YOU Why did the Lord not know these believers? Why did he consider their works sin? Simply because these were Christians in name only who despised the covenant of grace and chose instead to be under the law. Did we not do all these wonderful works....just like Cains offering...mans endeavors. But God says By the law shall no flesh be justified for by the law is the knowledge of sin…The knowledge that you are a sinner, lost and without hope, doomed to die except for the grace of God which calls the sinner unto himself. It is only the Atonement of Christs sacrifice that will suffice ...not anything else, not any work, big or small, not to save you or keep you saved. It is a gift of Grace, without merit and undeserved but oh so irresistibly received!
