Can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called, and suffers the children of God to be burned in the fires of damnation after having once believed in Jesus. Such a gospel I abhor. If one dear saint of God had perished, so might all; and then there is no gospel promise true, but the Bible is a lie, and there is nothing in it worth my acceptance? If I did not believe the doctrine of the final perseverance of the saints, I think I should be of all men the most miserable, because I should lack any ground of comfort.

Even though no one can snatch a true believer out of Gods hand, can they choose to walk away ? No, they cannot. You are not holding onto Jesus for your salvation but rather he is holding onto you. Jesus holds you like you would hold someone hanging off a cliff. If your strength gives way and you can hold no longer, Jesus still has you firmly in his grasp. Jesus holds on to you no matter what you are going through in life.

A lot of the problems that people have in accepting eternal security come from the fact that they don't understand how fully Jesus dealt with the whole sin issue on the cross. They still have an Old Testament view of forgiveness. Hebrews 10 was written to show how much better it is for those under the New Covenant. We are not of those who draw back to perdition
(the false Apostate)but we are the redeemed that believe and who are eternally saved! Gods word is written in the born again Christian's heart because the law giver lives in us. We no longer need to obey the written code but rather are led individually by the Spirit of God who dwells in us. If any person does not have the infilling of the holy Spirit then they do not belong to God.

Those who sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth are believers..they know the gospel with the mind but they are not children of God because they are not partakers of the blood sacrifice. It is not enough to believe, the bible says that the devils believe, they know the gospel, they understand it, but they are not partakers of it. To taste of heavenly things means to have some understanding but it does not mean to drink of the wells of living water. Taste and drink are two different meanings. Jesus said you must drink of his living water not just taste it! Those who count the blood of Jesus as unholy are those who desire the law in preference to the blood covenant. Name one Christian who has not sinned willfully???

Willfully.....sinning and knowing it was wrong....I know I have sinned and knew what I was doing was wrong...anyone else done that? The bible says that God keeps his children to the end. All have sinned so it is clear that is not what this scripture means. Rather, Paul is talking about those seeking righteousness by the law, keeping the scripture in context of what Paul was speaking about in the beginning of Hebrews chapter 10. Whoever seeks righteousness by the law, makes Christ's death to be in vain. Christ is become of no effect to them. Christ profits them nothing, (Gal. 5:2, 4 )

All apostates are chargeable with this sin of making Christ's death to be in vain. They crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to open shame. (Heb. 6:6) "Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite to the Spirit of grace?" (Heb. 10:29)

These people once made a profession that there was virtue in the blood of Christ but now they are come to renounce it. For example, the Galatians. There are those calling themselves Christians who have sinned the sin against the Holy Ghost. That have blasphemed the Spirit of God, and the blood of the everlasting Covenant, shed by the Son of God. The Spirit of God calls them doomed. These are they who are under the law and despise the blood covenant. They add works to faith. They trod on the blood of Jesus and do not think it holy enough to save them. Yes, they have heard the gospel many times but still they sin willfully by knowing the truth and yet prefer the law even as Cain preferred the law, his own works of righteousness. All that seek not righteousness, and eternal life, through Jesus Christ, and his death, are guilty of this sin, of thinking, and counting that Christ died in vain.



Hebrews 10: 1-3

The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the reality themselves. For this reason it can never by the same sacrifices repeated year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.

For the law having a shadow of good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshipers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. But in those [sacrifices there is] a remembrance again [made] of sins every year. For [it is] not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me

In burnt offerings and [sacrifices] for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and [offering] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure [therein]; which are offered by the law;

Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all].

And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

[Whereof] the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Now where remission of these [is, there is] no more offering for sin.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

And [having] an high priest over the house of God;
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of [our] faith without wavering; (for he [is] faithful that promised .And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

[It is] a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. (Goes back to the law)

But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
