What does seventh day adventism really teach.......... Jun 18, 2007 1:45 pm
261 Views

If we are under the law we are not under grace. Remember all false prophets who have false dreams and visions are in serious trouble when they meet Jesus
!

SDA teachings most clearly contrary to the gospel and unorthodox in nature are its insistence on water baptism as an essential prerequisite to salvation, its teaching about the end time significance of sabbath observance to identification of true believers, and its doctrine of the Investigative Judgement.

White, who was one of the leading figures in the founding of the church, has remained a controversial figure in Adventism since her death in 1915. While describing her own writings as ''the lesser light'' leading to the ''greater light'' of the Bible, the promotion of her writings by the church has stirred charges of cultism against the group.

SDA are under the law!

“…[O]ur High Priest enters the holy of holies [in 1844]…to perform the work of investigative judgement and to make an atonement for all who are shown to be entitled to its benefits… Every man’s work passes in review before God and is registered for faithfulness or unfaithfulness… The law of God is the standard by which the characters and the lives of men will be tested in the judgement… As the books of record are opened in the judgement, the lives of all those who have believed on Jesus come in review before God… Names are accepted, names rejected… as they have become partakers of the righteousness of Christ, and their characters are found to be in harmony with the law of God, their sins will be blotted out, and they themselves will be accounted worthy of eternal life… Jesus does not excuse their sins, but shows their penitence and faith, and, claiming for them forgiveness, He lifts His wounded hands before the Father… Sins that have not been repented of and forsaken will not be pardoned and blotted out of the books of record, but will stand to witness against the sinner… [Christ] had kept His Father’s commandments, and there was no sin in Him… this is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in the time of trouble” (Great Controversy, pp. 480, 482–84, 486, 623).

Works doctrine to be saved!

According to Ellen White one must believe this doctrine to be saved. “Those who would share the benefits of the Savior’s mediation should permit nothing to interfere with their duty to perfect holiness in the fear of God… The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative judgement should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves of the position [in the Holy of Holies] and work [investigative judgement] of their great High Priest. Otherwise it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time or to occupy the position which God designs for them to fill. Every individual has a soul to save or to lose. Each has a case pending at the bar of God… All who have received the light on these subjects are to bear testimony of the great truths which God has committed to them. The sanctuary in heaven is the very center of Christ’s work in behalf of men… It is of the utmost importance that all should thoroughly investigate these subjects… The intercession of Christ in man’s behalf in the sanctuary above is as essential to the plan of salvation as was His death upon a cross. By His death He began that work which after his resurrection He ascended to complete in Heaven” (Ibid., pp. 488–89
Other distinctive SDA teachings include vegetarianism and other “health” issues; the doctrine of “soul sleep,” a misnomer for the belief that between death and resurrection one is essentially non-existent except in the memory of God; the annihilation of the wicked (as opposed to conscious torment for eternity).

God Himself forbids anyone adding to or deleting from His Word, and with fearful consequences—for to do so, one exalts himself above God Himself, who declares “My covenant I will not break, nor alter the Word that has gone out of My lips”. (Ps 89:34). So He commands us:

“You shall not add to the Word which I commanded you, nor take anything from it”. (De 4:2)

“Whatever I command…you shall not add to it, nor take away from it” (De 12:32)

Every Word of God is pure. Do not add to His words, lest He reprove you, and you be found liar”. (Prov. 30:5+6)

“…and All Liars will have their part in the Lake which burns with fire and brimstone” (Rev 21:

“If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book: and if anyone takes away from the words of This Book…God will take away his part from the Book of life, and from the holy city and from the things which are written in this book.” (Rev 22:18+19)

In His High Priestly prayer, Jesus interceded with the Father “Sanctify them with Thy Word, Thy Word is Truth” (Jn 17:17). Thus any additions or deletions in His Word will change it from Pure Truth, to less than truth, or even lies. So God’s condemnation against Israel was:

“And she hath changed My judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and My statutes more than the countries around her.” (Ezek 5:6) And his condemnation of those nations was:

“Who changed the Truth of God for a Lie…” (Rom 1:25)

What did Arminius really teach .....your faith saves you.......not Gods grace by faith. Jun 18, 2007 11:43 am

Excerpts from Robert Godfreys Essay

President & Church History Professor of Westminster Theological Seminary

Arminius also gave faith a different place in his system from the role that faith had occupied in earlier Reformed theology. Arminius taught that faith itself was imputed to the sinner for righteousness, whereas the earlier teaching had stressed that it was the object of faith, namely Christ and His righteousness, that was imputed to the sinner.

This shift is important because again it shifts the primary focus of salvation from God's work in Christ to man's faith. Arminius can even speak of faith being the one work required of man in the New Covenant. This kind of teaching led to Gomarus' charge that Arminius was undermining the Protestant doctrine of justification by faith. Arminius' teaching turns faith from an instrument that rests on the work of Christ to a work of man, and tends to change faith from that which receives the righteousness of Christ to that which is righteousness itself.

The heart of this Remonstrance ( Arminiusim) summarized their theology in five points: conditional election, universal atonement, total depravity, sufficient but resistible grace and uncertainty about the perseverance of the saints.

The Calvinists answered with a Contra-Remonstrance in 1611. It it surely ironic that through the centuries there has been so much talk of the "five points of Calvinism" when in fact Calvinists did not originate a discussion of five points. Indeed Calvinism has never been summarized in five points. Calvinism has only offered five responses to the five errors of Arminianism.

William Ames, one of the great English Puritans, wrote that Arminianism "is not properly a heresy but a dangerous error in the faith tending to heresy...a Pelagian heresy, because it denies the effectual operation of internal grace to be necessary for the effecting of conversion and faith." In this evaluation Ames rightly saw the conflict between Calvinists and Arminians as related to the conflict between Augustine - the champion of grace - and Pelagius - who insisted that man's will was so free that it was possible for him to be saved solely through his own natural abilities.

The Synod rejected the teaching of the Arminians and in clear and helpful terms presented the orthodox Calvinist position in the Canons of Dort. Unanimously approved by the Synod, they were hailed throughout the Reformed churches of Europe as an excellent defense of the faith.

The Canons of Dort responded to the five errors of Arminianism and ezpressed the Calvinist alternative to those errors: 1) God freely and sovereignly determined to save some lost sinners through the righteousness of Christ and to give to His elect the gift of faith; 2) God sent His Son to die as the substitute for His elect and Christ's death will certainly result in the salvation of His own; 3) Man is so utterly lost in sin that without the regenerating grace of God, man cannot desire salvation, repent, believe or do anything truly pleasing to God; 4) God's grace saves the elect sinner irresistibly since only irresistible grace can overcome man's rebellion; 5) God in mercy preserves the gift of faith in His elect to ensure that the good work He began in them will certainly come to completion in their salvation.

Do the differences between Arminians and Calvinists matter today? Many argue that the differences between Calvinists and Arminians no longer matter. After all, some argue, Arminius lived 400 years ago. Are his views still important and influential? The answer to that question must be a resounding yes. Armininism is very influential in evangelical and Pentecostal circles today. Indeed Arminianism today usually goes much further in emphasizing free will than Arminius did or would ever have approved of doing.

Some downplay the differences betwen Arminians and Calvinists out of an activism that is rather indifferent to theology. Such activists often argue that, with so much to do for Christ in the world and with so much opposition to Christianity in general, theological differences must be minimized.

The differences between Calvinists and Arminians are important precisely for the work that all want to do for Christ. What is the work that needs to be done and how will it be done? The answers to those questions depend very much on whether man has a free will or not. Does one seek to entertain and move the emotions and will of men whose salvation is ultimately in their own hands? Or does one present the claims of God as clearly as possible while recognizing that ultimately fruit comes only from the Holy Spirit? Those kinds of concerns will affect the ways in which Christians worship and witness and serve and live.

Some argue that the differences between Calvinism and Arminianism are unimportant because the theological terms of the controversy were wrong or are now outmoded. They argue that just as progress has been made in so many fields, so theological progress has transcended the old controversies. This claim may be an attractive one until it is examined closely. On close examination such a claim proves to be false. Either salvation is entirely the work of God or it is partially the work of man. There is no way to "transcend" this reality. On close examination those efforts to transcend Calvinism are at best other forms of Arminianism.

The depths of God's grace should lead Christians to live gratefully, humbly, joyfully and carefully before God.It needs to recover a forceful and faithful commitment to the God-centered biblical message.

Chuck Smiths Liberal theology...easy believism and conformity to the World. Jun 18, 2007 9:52 am
285 Views
Why am I posting this....to show you that those who espouse wrong doctrine usually compromise with the world and reject the transforming power of the holy Spirit.

Luke 6:26-28

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you
.

Chuck Smith is strongly Arminian.(easy-believism/decisional regeneration.)Chuck Smith is highly ecumenical, compromises with psychology. Preaches that Romanisim is a part of the body of Christ.
Denies the Power of Godliness (2 Tim. 3:5): This is exemplified via his teaching on a "carnal Christian." In his 1993 book, Answers For Today, he denies the power of godliness (i.e., the power of a changed life that comes through faith in Christ alone.

Smith's definition of a "carnal Christian" as a person who is "saved" is seriously flawed. Such a person "ruled by his flesh" is not saved (Rom. 10:9-10; 6:5-7; 8:5-6,13; 1 Jn 2:4). In 1 Cor. 3:1-3, Paul is rebuking and correcting the Corinthians and is in no way saying they could continue on in this "carnal" state and still be saved!

Smith teaches Freud's concept of the superego as a picture of our ideal self (p. 47); that God prizes and values us (p. 63); that Maslow's concept of a hierarchy of needs is valid for Christians (pp. 99-100); that what the Bible calls sins are actually "overt escapes" (plus such psychological terminology as "I hate myself" and "a subconscious desire for punishment" (pp. 102-103); etc. More psychological concepts can be found in Smith's 1977/1980 booklet titled Family Relationships, wherein he speaks of the "ego" and "superego" (p. 9) (also found in his 1995 book, Why Grace Changes Everything, [pp. 32-33]); the "emotional spectrum" of women and men (p. 12); "emotional needs" and the "male ego" (pp. 32-33); and "psychological problems" (p. 54).

Chuck Smith's Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. (Despite the "Calvary" in both names, these two churches are not affiliated in any way.) Hocking resigned from the pastorate and from Solid Rock Radio on 10/7/92 after confessing to "sexual sin" with a married woman in his congregation. Yet only three days later, Hocking stated that he wanted to return to the pulpit!

To the credit of the elders at Calvary Church Santa Ana, Hocking was permanently expelled (i.e., "ex-communicated" after a dispute over his desired "restoration" after his "moral failure"; i.e., Hocking refused to accept the three-year restoration plan of the elders. (It should be noted that Hocking never admitted to committing adultery, but only "sexual sin, short of sexual intercourse" and to "fondling." But, to the rescue came Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel. Smith pre-empted the discipline process of Calvary Santa Ana by immediately hiring Hocking as a Calvary Chapel pastor. Smith then declared, "If he [Hocking] doesn't resume his teaching, I'm afraid he'll be literally and totally destroyed." Thanks to Chuck Smith and the leadership at Calvary Chapel, a statement was made that, in effect, it's okay to "ordain" a man to teach and preach even though he had admitted to sexual immorality. (Reported in the March-April 1993, Bible For Today Newsreport; the 4/5/93, Christian News; and the 2/8/93 & 3/15/93, Calvary Contender.)

The 6/13/94 NIRR and the 11/16/94 Christian Century report that Calvary Chapel has begun a ministry at all-night "rave" parties. Rave is a dance movement from Europe in which teens take designer drugs, use virtual-reality devices, and dance (usually alone) away the night and early mornings hours to repetitive techno-pop dance music. Often, there is no lighting except for strobes and lasers.

The raves are usually held in abandoned warehouses or on Indian reservations. The youth members from Calvary Chapel dress like the ravers. The males wear leather jackets, T-shirts, parachute pants or shorts, and shoes similar to army boots. The females usually wear T-shirts, cutoff shorts, and the same style boots. Calvary outreach assistant Tracy Herman claims that the Calvary Chapel evangelists hand out "really hip tracts" at the raves, and the response to the gospel is "almost always positive." Even if that were true, is it not a sin for a church to expose its young people to such a wicked environment (1 Cor. 15:33)

Smith Soft On Promise Keepers: Promise Keepers is the gigantic new (1991) "men's movement" among professing evangelical Christians. Catholic and PK's contradictory stand on homosexuality; its promotion of secular psychology; its unscriptural feminizing of men; its depiction of Jesus as a "phallic messiah" tempted to perform homosexual acts; and its ecumenical and unbiblical teachings should dissuade any true Christian from participating. Promise Keepers is proving to be one of the most ungodly and misleading movements in the annals of Christian history. Nevertheless, Chuck Smith is a promoter of this ecumenical, psychologized men's movement.

Based on the requirements of the Law, it is not enough that Christ dies for the sins of His people. To die and cleanse sinners from their sin is to set them at ground zero. At that point redeemed sinners still continue to sin. As Luther said, they are piles of dung covered in gold. The remnants of remaining sin and the filthiness of the flesh still war with the Spirit (Gal. 5:17). They must also have a covering that continues to infinitely expiate their sin before the holy justice of God; otherwise, justification becomes analytic and not synthetic.

Analytic justification is the Roman Catholic belief where God looks both at the sinner and the Savior and justifies them based on what Christ did and what the sinner continues to do.

Synthetic justification is the biblical formulation where God recognizes Christ’s work, both the obedentia activa and obedentia passiva, and declares the sinner just as a result of them both. The sinner, in the ordo salutis, has been regenerated, acts with a fides reflexa (a reflex act of faith) springing from regeneration, is declared righteous by God on account of Christ’s iustitia imputata, but is then continued to be viewed in this credited manner because of the perfect obedentia of Christ’s work.

Jesus perfectly fulfilled the iustitia Dei where men cannot. It is this active obedience that continues to justify them, and it is passive obedience that continues to save them before the wrath of God’s justice. Kline rightly comments, “For Christ himself enters upon the inheritance as the forerunner, surety, and head of the many only when by his active and passive obedience he has fulfilled the constant Hauptgebot of the covenant and submitted to the demand of the curse sanction voiced in the covenant from the beginning.”

Works doctrine comes from the Roman Council of Trent (An historic look) Jun 17, 2007 9:58 am

Excerpts on Dr. John Gerstners essay

Medieval Scholastics taught justification as an instantaneous act. It was not until the Council of Trent (1545-1563) that justification was officially confirmed as a process based on human merit derived through divine grace. This was the article in Session VI, Canon 7 of the Council of Trent which led the Roman Catholic Church away from the orthodox teaching on justification.

For Luther, Rom. 1:17 and Mat. 4: 7 taught that the righteousness of God was his mercy and pardon. Out went all human merit from indulgences to works of supererogation. As Article IV of Melanchthon’s Augsburg Confession, of which Luther approved, phrased it: “Men can be justified freely on account of Christ through faith, when they believe that they are received into grace and that their sins are remitted on account of Christ who made satisfaction for sins on our behalf by his death. God imputes this faith for righteousness in his own sight.” Luther elsewhere affirms that Christ’s righteousness is ours and our sins are his. Thus, he who was innocent became guilty of depravity, while we who were depraved became innocent.

“The doctrine by which the church stands or falls.” So said Martin Luther about justification by faith alone. John Calvin agreed, calling justification by faith the “hinge” of the Reformation.

The history of the doctrine of justification that solafideanism (justification-by-faith-alone-ism) was taught implicitly, but not explicitly, from the beginning of the church. That is, it was known in the early church that salvation was by faith alone, but not until the sixteenth century was the church called upon to define that teaching more precisely. Those in the church who had quietly apostasized opposed this essential truth (adherents of Tridentine Roman Catholicism), while the faithful (Protestants), affirmed it.

Mystery Babylon (New Age in the Church) Jun 17, 2007 9:28 am

The New Age spirituality belief, which is modern religious Babylon, has infiltrated the liberal main line Protestant churches and even some Evangelical and Pentecostal churches. One New Age movement that identifies with Christianity is the Emerging church movement, which has incorporated Eastern pagan beliefs such as altered state of consciousness techniques and mysticism replacing sound biblical doctrine. There are also other Christian sects who embrace ancient Babylon religious beliefs, such as god likeness (little gods), emphasis on self-achievement and positive possibility thinking, where the soul can create its own reality, emphasis on mystical experiences rather than the pure unadulterated word of God. In effect the worship of self.

Paganism worship is the final form of religion before the second coming of Christ. This New Age belief system is sweeping into Christendom and taking the focus off of the cross and onto the god of self. God is calling his people to come out of Babylon and make a stand for the true gospel of Jesus Christ. "Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds" (2 John 9-11).

Revelations 18: 3-6

For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

MARTIN LUTHER'S EIGHT STATEMENTS ON JUSTIFYING FAITH Jun 16, 2007 11:56 am
227 Views
Martin Luther

1. Faith without works is sufficient for salvation, and alone justifies.

2. Justifying faith is a sure trust, by which one believes that his sins are remitted for Christ's sake; and they that are justified are to believe certainly that their sins are remitted.

3. By faith only we are able to appear before God, who neither regards nor has need of our works; faith only purifying us.

4. No previous disposition is necessary to justification;neither does faith justify because it disposes us, but because it is a means or instrument by which the promise and grace of God are laid hold on and received.

5. All the works of men, even the most sanctified, are sin.

6. Though the just ought to believe that his works are sins, yet he ought to be assured that they are not imputed.

7. Our righteousness is nothing but the imputation of the righteousness of Christ; and the just have need of a continual justification and imputation of the righteousness of Christ.

8. All the justified are received into equal grace and glory; and all Christians are equally great with the virgin Mary, and as much saints as she is.

Mystery Babylon Religion Jun 16, 2007 10:46 am

The New Age Movement has its roots in ancient Babylon. This modern pagan movement consists of eastern polytheistic (many gods) and pantheist beliefs (god in all nature) the same religion common to the days of Nimrod, where Babylon began. Nimrod started the first religion of Babel. This religion developed a one-world unity that rebelled against God by trying to attain to godlikeness in ones own efforts. By trying to reach heaven in ones own effort, Babel operated in Satan’s rebellion, to try to be like God.

However, even after the fall of Babel and the distribution of men on the face of the earth, the spirit of Babylon continued to exist in the hearts of mankind. The Babylonian empire revived the spirit of Babel and the same religion. Babylon worshiped gods who represented humans with god like entities that had superhuman power. Each god controlled certain aspects of the cosmos, and cults were developed to give worship to each of these particular gods. The main gods were given homage at large temples and every major city in Babylon had one. Every home also had an individual god that was worshipped and communicated with. The ethical system in Babylonian was towards a society of peace and was humanistic in which caring for other people was central.

Today the New Age movement is once again the revived Babylonian religion with an emphasis on world peace and global unity.
New Age emphasises the concept of humans possessing god like qualities with supernatural abilities. The human species, they believe, will evolve into its Christ consciousness or God state. God is seen as a force that is in everyone and everything and humans are a part of this creative force. Because God is in everything, our collective thoughts create reality.(sound familiar to some Christian sects out there ? )
We pre-existed, according to New Age ideology, before our present lives on earth. (Reincarnation.)

True Christianity on the other hand, embraces the concept of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ apart from our own efforts, death to self and God the Holy Spirit reigning supreme in his people.

Will the Door Close for you ? Jun 15, 2007 7:35 am

The man walked up to the door and knocked frantically. Why, he wondered did I not get chosen to come to this banquet. I got an invitation!

Slowly the door opened. Yes, said a voice, what is it you want?

I got your invitation but was not chosen to come to your banquet. Why is that?

Well, said the door keeper, you do not have on the right garment and without the right garment you cannot enter. There is a dress code you know.

But I do so have on the garment you gave me. I accepted it when it was freely given, the man cried with consern.

That is not the same garment that was freely given to you. It looks different. Altered somehow. What did you do to it? asked the doorkeeper in astonishment.

Well, it was rather plain being stark white and all so I touched it up a bit. Dont you like it more now?

Not really, said the door keeper. Looks kind off off to me. What are those tassels for and the brass buttons?

Those took alot of work to put on. I thought that I could add to this garment and make it better. Dont you think that I did a good job?

Well, said the door keeper,it is not the same garment after all your alterations. It is now a different garment. Sorry cant let you in.

But I worked real hard to please you. Doesnt that countCried the man who by now was in such distress that his brass buttons were starting to fade into a dull green.

That is very sad, said the door keeper, and all the work you did too. However,it is only with the original white garment that one can gain entrance to this banquet.

But...cried the man as the door closed in his face.I thought that I could add a few things to stand out a bit.Maybey I would get noticed.I worked real hard you know.

Who is Mystery Babylon? Jun 15, 2007 7:28 am
195 Views
Mystery Babylon is the one world end time Church. "Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of all harlots and abominations of the Earth." Rev. 17:5

Woman, in the scriptures represent Gods church or his elect. For example in Hebrews 5; 27 it says; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

The reference to Mystery Babylon is to a false church that claims to be his when in fact she is not but rather commits spiritual adultery. In scripture this false church is referred to as a harlot. Committing fornication with the Kings of the earth. (Rulers) This false church will have influence over the political realm because the word tells us that the Harlot rides the beast or in other words directs its focus through religious control.

Revelations 17:3

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

The bible tells us that this Church sits upon many waters. In scripture, waters represent multitudes of people.(society)

Revelations 17:15

And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Babylon also has a pagan belief system. Babylon means "gate of the god,"
The tower of Babel was the beginning of Babylon, (babel, gate of God), Which means also confusion, holding to pagan beliefs that in effect was defined as man attaining to godlikeness, or one with the divine.

This harlot worships the image of the beast or spiritually speaking, the god of self. Which is the root of all idolatry. Sun worship was also prominent in Babylon, significant of worshiping created things rather than the creator. These practices have continued to be around in many parts of the world where Christianity has a minimal influence but today we see that Mystery Babylon is now popular in western secular society and is now beginning to invade the Christian Churches.

Some scholars have identified mystery Babylon as the New Age movement. While this is true, in that the harlot church does embrace New Age ideology, it also consists of all cults and Christian sects that compromise the word of God and for the sake of unity embrace the Mother of Harlotry in friendship as Israel did with her neighbours, until before long she fell into the same sin of idolatry,
