Cat rides bus #331 in London several times a week to? Apr 10, 2007 6:55 am

Bus drivers in London have nicknamed a cat that rides the No. 331 bus several days a week "Macavity" after the classic T.S. Elliot poem.

The cat, which has a collar and gets on and off at the same stops every time, was first noticed by bus driver Bill Khunkhun, 49, The Daily Mail reported Monday.

"It is really odd, the first time I saw the cat jumping off the bus with a group of passengers. I hadn't seen it get on which was a bit confusing," he said. "The next day I pulled up on Churchill Road to let a couple of passengers on. As soon as I opened the doors the cat ran toward the bus, jumped on and ran under one of the seats, I don't think any of the passengers noticed," he added.

Macavity has been riding the bus two or three times a week since January. A picture of Macavity (a white cat) riding on the bus, was shown on FOX News this morning. Macavity gets on the bus and exits the bus one stop later.

Any guesses as to where the cat goes after exiting the bus?

A Preview of Coming Attractions Apr 9, 2007 8:39 pm

I have been listening to a very creatively worded song by Steven Curtis Chapman a lot recently. For me It has been thought provoking, convicting and inspirational. What do you BCers think of this song?

A day is coming when all will be fed
There won't be a single hungry mouth begging for bread
A day is coming when every disease
Will be swept away as mercy floods through every street

A day is coming
A day is coming
A day is coming
But until that day comes

Let Your kingdom come in me
Let Your will be done in me
Here on earth as it is and as it will be in Heaven

Show Your glory to the world
Tell Your story to the world
Let my life be a preview of coming attractions
Yeah, coming Attractions

A day is coming that won't fade to night
There'll be no more hatred to endure, no wars to fight
There'll be no orphans, no prisoners or slaves
And all the tears of death and pain will be washed away

This day is coming
It's surely coming
Jesus, you're coming
But until that day comes

Let Your kingdom come in me
Let Your will be done in me
Here on earth as it is and as it will be in heaven

Show Your glory to the world
Tell Your story to the world
Let my life be a preview of coming attractions

Shine Your light through me
Live Your life through me
Let the world see Your kingdom come in me

Why Computers Sometimes Crash! by Dr. Seuss Apr 9, 2007 4:25 pm

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort,
and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash,
then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house,
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol,
that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall.

And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss,
so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse;
then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang.

When the copy on your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk,
and the macro code instructions is causing unnecessary risk,
then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM,
and then quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your Mom!

Well, that certainly clears things up for me. How about you?

Easter Prayer of Faith Apr 8, 2007 10:16 am

Dear Lord
On this most holy day
I thank you for the precious gift.
The gift of everlasting life.
We need not fear the darkness of death
For you faced that challenge for us.
I thank you for your love and for the suffering you endured
So that I will One day be with you
And those I love who have gone before me.
Amen!

Have A Blessed Easter!

" What seem our worst prayers may really be, in God's eyes, our best. Those, I mean, which are least supported by devotional feeling. For these may come from a deeper level than feeling. God sometimes seems to speak to us most intimately when he catches us, as it were, off our guard.

What Annie Oakley Taught on Life Apr 1, 2007 7:39 am
Mood: impressed, 366 Views
The Biography channel presented a documentary on the life of Annie Oakley this morning. I knew very little about her, but learned she was born as Phoebe Ann Oakley Mozee, on Aug. 13, 1860, in Patterson Township, Darke County, Ohio. Her mother named her Phoebe Ann, but her sisters called her Annie. Whether shooting a pistol, rifle, or shotgun, the legendary marks-woman Annie Oakley was masterful with them all. Dubbed "Little Sure Shot" by Chief Sitting Bull (she was 5 feet tall), her sharp shooting in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show won her many awards and captivated audiences far and wide. Her name remains synonymous with firearms and entertainment. In her life, Annie overcame poverty, mistreatment and physical injury with her determination and strength of character. She played a role in breaking barriers for women with her talent and accomplishments in her sport. Annie showed great compassion and generosity to orphans, widows and other young women. She died of pernicious anemia on Nov. 3, 1926, in Greenville, Ohio, at the age of sixty-six. A legend in her own time, the remarkable life of Annie Oakley is celebrated in the 1946 Herbert and Dorothy Fields musical “Annie Get Your Gun.”

Speaking from her life experiences she told others, “Aim at a high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, nor the second and maybe not the third, but keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally, you'll hit the bull's eye of success.” We live in a world that wants instant gratification and quick success without the daily battles in life’s trenches. Life is not like what is presented on the big screen. Annie’s words are just as true today and teach us that should not give up, but persevere in our efforts to better ourselves.
