Another Set of Eyes May 18, 2009 3:09 pm

"He who sees even the most of this world has but the same sort of eyes that birds and beasts have -- but he who knows his Bible to be true and who realizes the truth of it in his soul -- has another set of eyes that can peer into another realm altogether. He sees spiritual things and around him there shines a Light which is, indeed, marvelous!"

I totally agree that the 'tolerance lie' that's infiltrated the church has got to be a horrible affront to God and I hate it as much as anyone. What I take a stand against is that once a person in a cult has been 'warned', that it's time to let the Holy Spirit deal with that person, rather then get into dissention and arguements and outburts of anger. Continued bickering does nothing to further the kingdom and is against what I believe to be God's number one command to the Church - Love One Another.

And this is my final comment on the subject. I will not defend Love.

Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business...Several members did not approve of her extra curricular activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence.

She made a mistake, however, when she accused Frank, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon.

She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that every one seeing it there WOULD KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING !

Frank, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny.
He said nothing...

Later that evening, Frank quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house ... walked home ... .and left it there all night.
(You gotta love Frank!)

The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven.

He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper.

St. Peter said,'Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must tell you, though, that the place is filling up fast, and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven'

Forrest responds, 'It sure is good to be here, St. Peter, sir. But, nobody ever told me about any entrance exam. I sure hope that the test ain't too hard. Life was a big enough test as it was.'

St. Peter continued, 'Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions.

First: What two days of the week begin with the letter T?

Second: How many seconds are there in a year?

Third: What is God's first name?'

Forrest leaves to think the questions over. He returns the next day and sees St. Peter, who waves him up, and says, 'Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers'.

Forrest replied,'Well, the first one -- which two days in the week begins with the letter 'T'? Shucks, that one is easy.

That would be Today and Tomorrow.'

The Saint's eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, 'Forrest, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess I did not specify, so I will give you credit for that answer.'

'How about the next one?' asked St. Peter 'How many seconds in a year?

Now that one is harder,' replied Forrest, but I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve..'

Astounded, St. Peter said,'Twelve? Twelve? Forrest, how in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?'

Forrest replied,'Shucks, there's got to be twelve:

January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd ... '

'Hold it,' interrupts St. Peter.'I see where you are going with this, and I see your point, though that was not quite what I had in mind ... but I will have to give you credit for that one, too.

Let us go on with the third and final question. Can you tell me God's first name'?

'Sure,' Forrest replied,'it's Andy.'

'Andy?'exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated St Peter.

'Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?'

'Shucks, that was the easiest one of all,'Forrest replied.

'I learnt it from the song,

'ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN.' '

St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates, and said: 'Run Forrest, run!'

MISUNDERSTANDINGS... May 16, 2009 8:47 am

I had a new friend here and I apparently said something in what I thought was jest/humor, and I've insulted that person to a degree in which they wrote "HAVE A NICE LIFE" - in other words, the friendship is no longer wanted by them.

It's just so sad...

People - God wants us to LOVE each other...that's the point I start each day from, and do my utmost to love you all...

I'd never, ever say something to insult any of you! I want and need your friendship...let the world cut each other up - you and I have a higher calling...

And if the one whom I've insulted happens by and reads this, know that I am truly sorry that this rift happened, that I have a hurt heart, and I love you. I am SO sorry. I thought what I wrote would make you laugh...is it possible there are 'issues' you need to deal with/pray about? I will pray for you.

BIG CHURCH BICKERING May 16, 2009 7:10 am

I've read the ongoing battle between two women - one calling the other a cult-member and the other bashing Catholics...and I do believe that both of these women are of the mind that their comments are serving God - both are truly passionate about their beliefs and their love of God - it's SO evident to me.

I do not side with either, as to do so would alienate the other...however, I have been reading my Bible and I get 'thumped upside my head' by His command to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. This is a walk of Love we are to be having, and it's with EVERYONE. The command is NOT to just the ones that believe like we do, it's to the world. LOVE everyone. But then He goes on to say, Love your BROTHERS & SISTERS ESPECIALLY.

So, to everyone that professes Christ as their Lord and Savior, I love you in Christ's name. You and I may not see eye to eye on everything, but until we get to the other side and all things are revealed, I will do my utmost to love and respect you.

A warning: Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

I have not always been, but I'm now a fan of American Idol and I've watched every episode this season...they just voted off the one I had routed for from the time he first auditioned. A wonderful, Christian widower from Milwaukee.

I can't believe it! It's down to Adam and Chris...I'm amazed and saddened.

Victorious Living May 12, 2009 2:22 am

Getting my thinking and attitudes right has been my focus of late. I've recently "attended" a Joyce Meyer conference - a DVD my local library had on the Battlefield of the Mind - a 4 hour conference she held in Ohio. I watched through the whole thing, then replayed it, this time taking notes, writing down the scriptures and then putting all my notes on my computer so that I can reference them time and time again.

I believe that this conference is life changing. I believe that had I learned these principles 30 or so years ago when I first became saved, I'd have spent a lot fewer years in "the wilderness".

You see, it's all about attitude and right thinking. When you get saved, your MIND doesn't get born-again. It's something WE have to do - train our minds to think right and line it up with God's Word. We need to KNOW God's Word and be ready to fight against the devil's darts that are 'bad thoughts' that we then allow to simmer in our hearts and minds, keeping us from a victorious Christian life. Oh, we may be saved and going to heaven one day, but without having all the promises that God says are ours in THIS life.

Well, I for one am tired of being defeated and am going to focus on right thinking, meditating on LOVE scriptures and keeping on top of any wrong thinking that comes into my mind, that I may have a full and rich life while here on earth.

The devil has stolen just way too much from me, and that's over.
