Jesus said, " Learn of me"

"Learn of me"

.
.

Matthew 11:28-30 says Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened and I will cause you to rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good, not harsh, but gracious and pleasant) and My burden is light and easy to be borne.

If we take what Jesus is saying I believe he is pleading us to learn how He handles situations and people when He says "learn of Me".

Working in retail and customer service I am in contact with people all day long and I now have so many wonderful opportunities to apply this lesson. Today for instance, a lady was concerned that the hat that she wanted to purchase would get crushed going on the plane, so I eased her mind and suggested that she mail it home and provided a box for her that I was going to through into the trash. The next customer wanted a special hat but did not want to pay the price so I suggested another one of the same kind that was slightly damaged for 50% off. He was thrilled and purchased the hat. I could go on and on with examples, however, in both of these examples I thought in my mind --- How would Jesus have handled each of these situations?
Both situations could have resulted in no sales. Following Jesus ways is really not difficult...it is actually easy.

Can you think of situations in your life that could have gone either way, but it turned out good because of following His way?

Daydreaming was a favorite part of my childhood. Being raised as an only for years, I spent allot of time alone. My is an only , too.

I think daydreams are a necessity. Think of some of the storybook characters who made their dreams a reality. The ones that come to mind are Jack and the Bean stalk and Cinderella. Can you think of any others?

Happily ever after doesn't just happen in storybook land. Good things happen in real life because real people like you and me dare to dream!
Better yet, they make their dreams a reality.

Todays are bombarded with things to do and places to go. They spend way to much time in their bedrooms talking on the phone, sleeping, listening to music, playing computer or video games. They think of only today and the moment and don't dare to dream...I wonder why things are so different today?

Things that make you feel wonderful....

There are no two ways about it...I love the beach! Not the hotels, shops, restaurants or the entertainment on the grand stand, just the beach. There is nothing more wonderful than sitting in the sand on a cool evening and watching the sun set out over the ocean. And, when the pelican fly by in formation, its just the icing on the cake.

I always wonder why everyone else is not out there too.

Whether it's a sunrise, sunset, walk on the beach there are things that make us feel wonderful...

What types of things make you feel wonderful?

Joy and laughter

Do you look for opportunities to laugh? In the last few years I probably passed up many opportunities to laugh because I was too serious or intense. I felt that if I laughed, then I somehow wasn't mature or responsible.

I have noticed that some Christians are so serious that they need to take inventory and notify their faces. Our faces are an outward reflection of our hearts and others cannot always see what is inside.

Now there can be good laughter and bad laughter, good laughter shares experiences of life which show good fruits of the spirit. Bad laughter could involve talking about others mistakes, gossip and ridicule of others.

We should always be mindful to show the best fruit of the spirit when we engage in laughter and not display rotten fruit.

I wonder what fruit I display?

In John 10:10 we see that Jesus came so we might have and enjoy life. It is possible to be alive and not enjoy life, isn't it? We can blandly live our lives going through the motions of going to work and accomplishing goals and never really enjoy life. Enjoying life is a decision, just like putting your favorite cheese topping on top of a salad. You can eat a bland salad or enjoy the taste of your salad because of the cheese topping.

Jesus gave us life so we can have pleasure from being alive, not just so we can go through the motions and try to survive until He takes us home.

Just a little update to let everyone know that I absolutely love my job and look forward to going to work every day. I have also applied to work at another company part-time and I am awaiting a second interview so hopefully, I will be working two part-time jobs soon. The second job gives insurance benefits even being part-time so please keep me in your prayers this week.

With everything that happened last year, the health insurance benefits would certainly give me a little more peace of mind.

Love you guys, I am...hanging in there.

Staying emotionally unattached

"Stay emotionally unattached for as long as you can so that your judgment is not affected by the feelings of love." in other words don't let your feelings over ride good judgment.

I have actually done this so many times that I have become to feel love-less towards others. One love-less friendship after another. I am not so sure that that advise was good advice.

I am sure that others feel the same at times. Any suggestions of finding that nice balance so that we can feel like sharing again.

How do you carry the cross daily?

Life is a vapor. I want to live my life with purpose, how about you? So what does it really mean to carry the cross daily? Here are some thoughts....

Do you subject yourself to kingdom authority?

Do you become accountable through Christian fellowship?

Do you pray without ceasing?

Do you remove yourself from the crowdedness of normal life? Perhaps walk to the beat of a different drummer?

Do you move forward with a new perspective despite your pain or loss?

Do you forgive those that hurt you? Really forgive?

Is the Word of God a priority in your daily life? More than once a month? Once a year?

Do those you encounter each day know why you are the way you are? Do you tell them?
