500 YEAR FLOOD Jun 13, 2008 10:31 pm
Mood: drained, 350 Views
Yup; There's a reason you folks ain't been hearing from me too much.
I got evacuated due to the worst ever flood in my city. I'm staying with a family member who doesn't have a computer.
I'm coming to you now from my girlfriends computer.

In our city of 120,000 people, roughly 10% of our population has been evacuated from what is called the 500 year floodplain, which is where I live, or rather did live.

The Cedar River's flood stage is at 12 feet, and this morning the river crested at just over 31 feet, besting our previous biggest flood by 12 feet. Nothing like this has ever been in my city.
Out of 10 bridges that cross the river, only one is not overflowed with flood water.

For Dreams to Come True
by Francis Frangipane

Just because we walk and talk does not mean we are truly awake. Zechariah was not sleeping when an angel roused him "as a man who is awakened from his sleep" (Zech. 4:1).

Perhaps we too need to be shaken from our slumber to possess the promises of God! Amazingly, in spite of all the signs, wonders, and warnings announcing that we are truly in the last days, Jesus also said there is a mysterious drowsiness that we have to overcome. Indeed, immediately after highlighting the various evidences of the end (see Matt. 24), He compares the church to virgins who "all got drowsy and began to sleep" (Matt. 25:5).

Virgins sleeping at the end of the age: This seems incomprehensible with all the signs in the heavens and wonders upon the earth, not to mention the increasing presence of Christ. Yet this phenomenon is something we each battle: the tendency to become spiritually drowsy and lose our focus as we wait for the Lord’s return.

There is a subtle activity of the enemy that dulls our perception and seduces our zeal. Our vision takes a backseat to other less important aspects of life. From the beginning, the voice of Satan has had this lulling effect on mankind. Eve’s excuse for disobedience was, "The serpent hath caused me to forget" (Gen. 3:13 Young’s Literal Trans.).

This sense of spiritual forgetfulness, of drowsiness, is the cloud of blindness that we each must discern and overcome. It was in regard to this that the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart through the following dream.

There was a temple standing in an open field. My view of the temple was from its side, about 200 yards away. I could not see its front, yet it must have been completely open because great light flashed out from the inside; it pulsed like lightning, yet was solid like sunlight. The block of light issued straight out, and I knew this light was the glory of God.

The temple was so close that I knew that with a little effort I could enter the glory of God. His holy presence was clearly within my reach. There were also others directly in front of me that I recognized as people from church. Everyone seemed very busy. And while the temple and its light were visible and readily accessible to all, every head was bent downward and turned away from the light; each was occupied with other things.

I heard one person say, "I have to do laundry." Another said, "I have to go to work." I could see people reading newspapers, watching televisions, and eating. I was sure everyone could see the light if they wanted to --- even more sure that we all knew His glory was near.

There were even a few people reading the Bible and praying, but everyone maintained the downward thrust of their gaze; each had a mental barrier of some kind between themselves and the place of God’s presence. No one, in fact, seemed capable of standing up, turning, and steadfastly walking into the very near glory of God.

As I watched, suddenly my wife lifted her head and beheld the temple in the field. She stood and walked without pausing toward the open front. As she drew closer to the light, a garment of glory formed and thickened around her; the closer she went, the more dense the light surrounding her became until she stepped in front of the temple and turned completely toward the blazing face of God.

Oh! How jealous I felt. My wife had entered the glory of God before me! At the same time I realized that there was nothing stopping me from approaching God’s presence --- nothing except the pile of things to do and responsibilities that, in truth, ruled my life more than the voice of God.

Pushing the weight of these pressures from me, I determined to rise and enter the temple myself. But, to my great regret, in my dream as I rose up, I suddenly woke up!

The longing and disappointment within me seemed unbearable. I had been so close to entering God’s presence. How I wanted to enter the temple and be swallowed up in His glory!

I cried, "Lord, why did You let me wake up?"

Instantly, the word of the Lord responded to my cry. He said, "I will not have My servant’s life fulfilled by a dream. If you want your dream to come true, you have to wake up."

Breaking Passivity; Setting Priorities
Beloved, today, God is awakening us to the reality of His presence. The promises the Lord gives us in the Scriptures must become more to us than dream-like realities only reserved for the hereafter. Moses frequented the glory of God! Israel’s seventy elders ate and drank in God’s resplendent glory (see Ex. 24: 9-11). Jesus unveiled God’s glory on the Mount of Transfiguration! Paul says that we all can behold the glory of God and be transformed by it (see 2 Cor. 3:1.

For this reason, the Scripture says, "Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you" (Eph. 5:14). If we truly want Christ to "shine" upon us, we must arise from the distractions that entomb us in lethargy and spiritual darkness.

Right at this moment, the presence of the living God is near enough to hear the whisper of your heart. But if we want our dream of standing in the presence of God to come true, we must wake up.

TORNADOES IN IOWA May 25, 2008 11:18 pm
Mood: sympathetic, 338 Views
Yesterday saw violent string of deadly tornadoes in parts of Eastern Iowa. One of which was unusually large.
The single largest tornado will likely be rated at least an EF4, was on the ground for over 3 hours, varied in width between a quarter mile to a full mile, and tore a hundred mile long path near US Highway 20 which flattened the towns of Hazelton, and Parkersburg, resulting in 7 confirmed deaths so far, and over 50 injured.

Many of the survivers lost everything they owned and can certainly use our prayers, as well as the family members of those who were killed or injured.

GODSTOCKS so far May 23, 2008 11:34 am
Mood: cheerful, 294 Views
The first two days of Godstocks have been smaller in turnout then I had expected, but the workings of God have been just as big.

Last night, several deaf and hard of hearing people were healed, and now can hear normally.
Someone who was a partial paraplegic due to a middle back spinal problem got up and walked, and people who had fianacial problems were suddenly out of debt.

The smaller then expected turnout so far is a combination of it being through the week, and the cold rainy weather, but today the rain is moving out even as I type, although it's still chilly, and tomorrow is expected to remain dry, and get warmer.
I look for tonight to be really big, and have some major break outs. I won't be attending tonight myself, but my girlfriend is, and she's taking most of her spiritual offspring with her. I expect to be getting good reports from her during my night at work, and tormorrow we will both be at Godstocks.

You can catch the live streams on the internet between 8 and 10 PM tonight, (Central Time) and see the work God is doing in a midwest remote Iowa cornfield.

LAKELAND HEALING REVIVAL part 2 May 20, 2008 11:18 pm
Mood: excited, 413 Views
Some of you have been following the big healing revivals in Lakeland Fl. with Todd Bently.
Those of you who paid real close attention may remember that at the Lakeland event, it was proclaimed that the next really big move of God would happen in Iowa, although no one specified exactly when or where in Iowa.
Since then many indications and confirmations are pointing to the 4 day Godstock revival which is scheduled to be on the grounds of the Midwest Prayer Center, (the one I attend each week) which begins at noon today Central time, and will run non-stop until midnight on Saturday night going into Sunday.

Rob DeLuca, the minister from new Zealand who just prior to the Lakeland Revival declared that Todd Bentley would breakout in revival in Lakeland Florida will be be with us.
He is one of the many speakers which will also include Jeff Jansen, Paul Cain, Randy DeMain, Ric Lumbard, Bidal Torrez Danny Styne and Geogian Banov.

Among those providing the music and worship settings will be Rick Pino, The Firestarters, Ben Dunn, and the K.C. IHOP worship team.
Some of the specific events will be broadcasted on God T.V. and there will be live internet streamlines as well.

We expect possibly as many as 100,000 believers could show up for this thing.
So when the stories start pouring out, you can say you heard about it first right here.

I can't post external links here, but do a search for either Midwest Prayer Center, or Wind and Fire Ministries, and you can see more about it.

Was it an apology? May 5, 2008 12:16 am
Mood: angry, 1399 Views
I am unable to post in Dennis'es blogs as he is set up to only accept comments from his friends. In other words people who generally do not disagree with him.
I personally feel it's wrong to block people simply because they don't agree with your views. Now if someone is potty mouthed and causes problems, that's a different matter. In response to what has been said,By Dennis I will post my views here, and I won't bar others unless they become disrespectful.

I agree with Sophie, Red, and Merlin, that the post by Dennis is no appology to Lisa, but is in fact another attack using religiously soaked judgements to justify even further attacks.

A knowledgeable accuser of the brethern such as Dennis, or Kim, and others we know of are very skilled at finding fault with everybody else's beliefs except their own. In fact if set against each other, they can still find falicies. So who is wrong, and who is right?
We are ALL wrong. Only God is right, and even His Word says so.

Rom. 3:4b yea, let God be true, but every man a liar;
verse 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

The accusers of the brethern,(of which I was once among) refuse to understand the point that it is a sin in itself to judge one individual member of a denomenation based soley on that denomenation.
Whatever is wrong, or right about a given group can NOT be used against one person.

Rom. 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
verse 10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
verse 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

The accusers of the brethern are very quick to defend their positions by claiming they are speaking the truth in love, and use obscure references concerning 'correct doctrines' to justify their accusations. More outright lies, and they have still failed to address their own hipocroseies.

Okay, Lisa identifies herself as Catholic, and having done so, the accusers pounce on her in unjustified judgement, by pointing out all the places they disagree with Catholic dogma, and therefore make Lisa guilty by association.

The only problem is that Lisa didn't specificly state herself what she does, and does not believe and agree with.
She has been found guilty of herosey by accusers who in fact have no idea what she personally believes.

Here in America, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Involvement in a given group is not proof of guilt.
That would be like saying because someone used a gun to rob a bank, that all gun owners are bank robbers. Not in America. In this land, the person who is accused of a given crime must be convicted in court with direct evidence proving that very person commited the crime in question.

Therefore, no one person of a given church can be judged as a heritic, even if the church itself is full of herosey. We as individuals are not soley responsible for what our church decrees.
We are held accountable only for what WE do. What the greater group does is it's own matter.
I don't know of anyone who agrees with 100% of their church's creeds.
But there is enough for them to align with a given denomenation or church in order to fellowship with others with simular beliefs.

If Dennis truely wanted to repent of his unkind words to Lisa, then he should just say so, and leave her church's beliefs and practices out of it.
So what if he can prove this or that? It doesn't make Lisa this or that.
There is much about the Catholic Church I would question, but I will not presume to direct such questions at it's members. It is not for me to judge. I can and will pray for specific issuses, and specific people. As for the judging, not me. That's God's job. God is God, and I'm not God.
Neither is Dennis, or anyone else who accuses.

This time, the children had to catch up May 4, 2008 11:55 am
Mood: ecstatic, 296 Views
I attend one of those high energy Charismatic churches where you just never know what the spirit's gonna do next.
Generally the excitement factor during worship service is set by a large group of our youth who are always up in the front row or two.
They jump up and down, dance in front of the alter, sometimes march in a line back and forth, and wave banners.
While this may sound to some like a wild free for all, it really is very orderly, but also very exciting to watch and participate in.

But this weekend has been different in that the biggest charge of excitement has been coming more from the adults. Especially the middle-aged and the late 20s, early 30s bunch. Many of which are parents of those children up front.
Others, like my girlfriend Evonne, and I have grown up children, but we are still young at heart with an enthusiasm which seems contagious.
Most of the people she has been bringing are a good deal younger then us. It seems Evonne is very popular with younger adults, and children, while I am drawing more people around my age, and the late teens.

Today adults were setting the tone, and generated a level of excitement that had the kids bewildered. But they adjusted quickly, and we had an exceptionally hot service.

My girlfriend had been more reserved then me, but that changed last night at the Prayer Center.
We had another couple praying over us up front at the end of service, during which time we were given a very powerful word of how God plans to use us as a couple. This was yet another of many such confirmations we had received in the last two weeks. Then Evonne fell backwards, which she had never done before, and ever since has been so on fire for the Lord, that anyone in her way is gonna get burned.

At times, the truth hurts May 2, 2008 10:49 am
Mood: sad, 423 Views
At my place of employment, we frequently have temps during this, our busy season. Generally we also use it as an employee hiring pool, and disguard those that don't work out for us as well.

For coming up on two weeks, we've had a temp who is the kind of man that everyone likes. He is polite, motivated, and commited to doing well, except he is just not getting the job.
Several different people have been assigned to train him, using several different methods, with nothing bearing fruit.
As a senior operator in my department, this has included me, and for the first time ever when I trained someone, he is just not catching on.

Last night my superviser asked for my report of attempts to train him, and I felt very badly in giving it.
He is not comprehending at all. Asking the same questions over and again, and continueally making the same mistakes. He is very very slow in his production, operating at less then 1/4 of the speed that he should be by now.
He seems confused all the time, and is obviously not comfortable with this type of work.

I suggested a different position for him which is less demanding, but it will not happen, as our bottom line has become profiecent multi-tasking in many different jobs, and the job he is failing at is a foundational job. I'm pretty sure that yesterday was his last day, and my report was what has doomed him.

I feel really bad about this because the man, like most of us, is supporting a family, and decent jobs are very hard to obtain these days.
I am empathatic to what this man is and will be going through as he loses yet another job.

When did we go from being about people to being about the bottom line? Why are we so insensitive to others who are struggleing? And how did I slip into this same mindset without seeing it?

Today is a sad day for me because I contributed to another man losing his job, and I did so by telling the truth.

Now, my fishes are catching fishes. Apr 13, 2008 10:33 pm
Mood: ecstatic, 484 Views
Matt. 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

It started with me catching my fish for the Lord.
A few months ago, she started bringing in fish for the Lord too.
Now, the fishes she caught are in turn catching fishes. Okay, I'll put it in English for you.

A woman I brought to my church a few months ago, has since began bringing people herself in the last few weeks.
Now, one of them has in turn brought someone new to church, and today was only the third time she ever walked into my church.

I couldn't be more proud if I were bringing them myself.
